PCC is my family and my go-to place for organic foods close to home at a fair and reasonable price. These days we tend to find produce, such as turnips, here that we are unable to find elsewhere nearby. Another example of recent is that of a few grocery stores we visited PCC was the only one we found to carry small lemons. The product selection is diverse and it can be easy to get sucked into window shopping and trying new things here. So we try to come with a targeted list to make sure we don't get too distracted. The hot foods area is great if you want to pick up something ready-to-go or ready-to-eat for lunch or dinner. Tofu, my oh my the tofu product selection is amazing. I went through a brief vegetarian phase growing up and this PCC was my favorite place to come to get tofu/non-meat protein products. Some of the products I found I enjoyed so much that I continued to eat them even when I went back to eating meat. This store used to have self check-out but does not as of current. Nice to have people interaction. Something to keep in mind if you are seeking to go to a store and have zero human interaction, this might not be the store for you. The cashiers and employees have been friendly and capable in my experience.

Dead fly on the inside of my container of cut melon

I recently bought a membership to PCC and generally feel like they have good quality items, but today I came in and bought a container of precut watermelon and it had not only a super long hair in it (not mine, i have a short pixie cut), but also a fly. Guess I won the lottery. Still pretty grossed out. I had already eaten half the container, but I threw the rest away. I wish I had gotten a pic of the long hair but it went straight from my mouth to the trash. How do hairs and bugs make it past quality control anyhow?

Dont tell anyone ... but this place is full of hippies. Seriously. It's like 1969 teleported every person who had any interest in organic farming straight into the future and deposited them in Edmonds. How does patchouli smell after 50 years? Like patchouli (unfortunately). Regarding the products, I'm fine with the groceries. Hippie food, but still food. However, the cold bar and deli? Why are the folks making this food so adverse to flavor? Carob is not a flavor. Bland is not a flavor. I suppose lemon is a flavor, but dont leave it hanging all by itself. If I had a million dollars, I would spend $45 on salt and donate it to PCC so it could increase its annual seasoning budget by 200%. The hippies who work here are really nice though, and I'll keep shopping here because my wife makes me, but I really dont get it.

Ask the Community - PCC Community Markets - Edmonds

How late is the hot bar/bowls bar open? I've come by a few times in the early evening and the bowls area was closed unfortunately. Thanks!

Good evening Amy, and thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately due to short staffing in our deli we had to pause the grain bowl station at our store a few weeks ago to focus on higher demand areas of the deli. Hopefully at some point we can get… Read more

I do love going to these types of stores and put it in my mind on a return trip to stop in and check out the store. Well we made a another visit to town a few weekends ago and we made a stop here. Like any good and complete Co-op (I have run into bad ones) the products are of good quality and the food is organic. There is a nice deli area where you can get sandwiches and food bar to dish up if your heart desires it. There is a good health and beauty section where like the quality of the food is a few grades above a run of the mill grocery store which the quality can be questionable and if it's ethically sourced (same concern goes to food too). I purchased a few cans of beer and hop water. The hop water was quite good but it is from a brewery that we have a very high regard for so not a huge surprise. They have a considerable beer and wine selection which is nice. This is a great place to go and support... something I can really get behind is to support local businesses!

In long Maybe it's just me, but it seems like they used to stock a much wider variety of specialty produce (among other things) here. The shelves and cases are all still full, and the quality is good. But you used to walk through here and see at least half a dozen things that practically no other stores had on hand. They still have good stuff, though--no doubt. The bakery section was super tempting, and there were dozens of choices among meat, fish, and poultry. The produce section is really big for this size of store--imagine if Trader Joe's focused on fruit and veg instead of snacks and frozen stuff, and you have a general picture of the ratio. Prices are a bit higher here than TJ, but not unreasonable. Quality is very good (esp. on produce). There are long aisles of shelf-stable condiments, packaged stuff, tons of spices. They definitely aim first at the home cooks who think of themselves as home cooks, and secondly at the folks who just know they need good groceries. Beer and wine are just a few basics, maybe half a small aisle. They had a few solid manager's specials going today, and the staff were all very nice (if not very bubbly). I'd happily shop here if I didn't have to drive past half a dozen other supermarkets that are all good options. So, I'd shop here if I lived in Mill Creek, essentially.

I also feel really safe shopping here, which is something I don't take for granted. The store itself always feels clean and well-kept, and the food options are actually really good. I love browsing their deals too--you can find some great stuff without spending a ton. Overall, it's just a really reliable, positive shopping experience every time I go. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Mill Creek! :D

But unfortunately, today's visit will be my last. I came into the store with a general idea of what I wanted to purchase. There were 3 employees working and only one other customer in store. I didn't receive a greeting, any acknowledgment, or even a smile - nothing. I felt like my presence was a nuisance. Their selection of products is vast and impressive (+1 star), but overwhelming if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. I would be more knowledgeable of what to buy if staff would be helpful and open to questions. I walked up to someone stocking a shelf with products in my hands, said "excuse me?" to ask for help, and the person just scooted away without looking at me. Yeah, no. After walking a lap around the store trying to get anyone's attention, I waited near the register with products hoping they would at least try to cash me out. Nothing again. I waited 3-5 minutes without anyone coming to help or even a "I'll be right with you" although there were workers on the floor. I just put my products away and left. I can't support an establishment that prides itself on high vibes and wellness but makes their customers feel like sh!t. Today's experience has been consistent with the past 2-3 other times I've been in and I won't be returning.

I would almost call it serendipity, but I was certainly searching for something, I just didn't know exactly what. I had a day off and had spent the earlier part of it wandering, looking for any remaining independent produce stands, butcher shops, or just something that felt like it would nourish and heal me because I had been feeling....well? physically, emotionally, existentially, and psychologically, like absolute crap. Historically I've spent years independently studying nutrition and biochemistry, herbalism and traditional medicine, but over the years I'd strayed from those things and lost my way. All this to say I may have forgotten some things but I recognize when someone else knows their stuff. I wandered into Sunshine Corners, originally for a good sandwich and maybe some produce. What immediately struck me was how comforting this place was, and how much it felt like the old school apothecaries or coop's before they became adulterated by mainstream capitalist influences. Stay with me here. I overheard Tony talking to one of the people at the front desk and immediately realized "ok, that guy knows his stuff". Meekly, when he had a moment, I walked over to him and basically, in a sort of desperate manner, laid out my litany of aches and pains and mysterious ailments, expecting an abrupt hand waving answer. That is not what I got. Tony spent what might have been somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour with me, patiently asking me questions and pulling out reference literature. He recognized things in me that no one else had been able to see, and pointed me in a direction that has allowed me to focus on actually getting better rather than just collapsing in frustration. Tony, if you're reading this, the time you spent helping me meant so much to me. Your years of wisdom made a huge impact, but more importantly, your humanity.

The big attraction here is the Bulk section that has many options - rice, pasta, beans, grains and more. My frequently visited bulk section is the pet treats area. scored chew bones for the pup here at a great deal and less packaging than if I go someplace else. I like how they target us consumers with literal signs showing the price comparisons to the likes of Safeway, Walmart and my personal favorite Fred Meyer which is my main grocery shop and even some prices at WinCo beat them. At the same time, not EVERYthing at WinCo is a deal, or if it is lower, it is negligible. Sticking with the pet food, a 6 individual cans of Purina One, (my preferred) dog canned food is $1.85 here, down from $1.99 at Freddies, I'm all about saving money and frugality, but I couldn't imagine going out of the way for that. Alcohol here is actually more expensive that Freddies or otherwise here at $12.99 for Georgetown 6 packs, compared to $10.99 at Freddies. These are but a few measures, so I know there are deals to be had, but it pays to be a savvy shopper too. My hang ups here are they don't take Credit card. I'm sure that's to help cut down on their expense and middleman, etc. but that's annoying. Also I don't know if it's me but it just feels even more cramped in here than the already cramped markets, we all frequent. I felt like I was constantly blocking somebody even with my cart pulled all the way to the side. Beyond that WinCo is ok.
