This review applies primarily to the pricing and service. The building is gorgeous, and nearly brand-new, I think. The parking is OK, if not great. And the selection appears to offer as good a lineup of produce, meat, fish, etc., as you can find around here. If you just want to get in and get that stuff, then you can safely ignore this review. They're right across the street from an established chain supermarket, in the nicer part of Edmonds where the view homes are. It's right on the main drag down to the ferries, in fact. It's a big building with a comically maze-like parking lot that couldn't possibly have been designed with keeping traffic moving as its prime directive. It seems to have been designed with the idea in mind that it would be different from parking lots in other supermarkets, and make you feel like you were shopping somewhere unusual even before you got out of your rig and actually started shopping. Oh, well. I guess people put up with what they're willing to put up with--but, seriously, the lanes here are single-file only, and you're asking distracted suburbanites to make sure they note the one-way arrows. I drove around and around, avoiding wrong-way drivers, trying to find a spot. Inside, there's a seemingly endless array of fine foods, with an emphasis on local, fresh, organic items, but aimed at foodies rather than health nuts (this is a long-established concept by now, not news--other supermarket chains do the same. Just an observation.). The prices are sky high, maybe the highest around, even with a WF up the hill now. Buying organic means supporting independent farmers and paying a bit more, but prices on many fruits and vegetables here range from double what you'd pay at a farmer's market up to five times as much, or even more, on some items (especially things that aren't quite in season yet, but are about to be). I'll pay more for OG, but FIVE TIMES as much? Come on, man. More irritatingly, the service here seems to focus more on knowledge than it does on actually interacting with customers. We needed to feed a bunch of teenagers, including athletes who eat a ton. To cook a meal for five, they suggested a pound of salmon. We misunderstood, and pointed out that only one or two of the kids could eat that much, and they laughed derisively and said that would be enough for five people total. We figured this was our misunderstanding and worked to place an order that would feed the kids and the grownups, and they continued to argue with us about our order--it was like they didn't want to cut off part of another filet and bruise the aesthetics of their fish case. It's not like they were busy, either. There were four of them, and we were the only customers. I don't mind misunderstandings, and I don't mind cockiness in small doses, but if we have to debate you at length in order to sell us the fish we want (which is a good money maker for you....), then why are we even here? I doubt we'll return. read more

One star because there is no customer service. The only time I've encountered an enthusiastic employee is in the vitamins and body/health area. They have a very nice selection of healthy organic products which I love, but I don't love anyone that works here, which is disappointing because the entire experience of shopping at this store should be a pleasurable one, and because of their very unfriendly staff it's not. My family has had a membership since the store opened and on a recent visit here after the dead weight at the cashier ringing up our groceries, we called and complained to the manager at the Edmonds location. Love love love my regular products here that are exclusive and will continue to come here for that, and since family is in the area this is the closest location, but they need to ask their employees to smile and ask their customers if they're finding everything ok and just make friendly conversation. It's as if their employees don't like talking to people or avoid any contact or feedback. Very bad and an F for employees at this location. They lack any customer service. Terrible!!! read more

If you're a PCC fan, get thee to the new Edmonds store. Now. If you're a Seattleite, don't be surprised if you feel the need to shop around for a new place to live up north once you're inside. The deli area? HUGE. The cheese area? HUGE. The wine area? HUGE. I also understand the new Edmonds store aimed to attain LEED platinum certification, an unheard of achievement in groceries. There are rain gardens in the parking lot, 35 skylights, special flooring to reduce maintenance, recycled materials used in tiling, counter tops & piping throughout the place. I attended the opening party for PCC members on 9/2/08 and it was a zoo. I didn't get there soon enough for the free food, not counting the notoriously bland taquitos, many remaining next to a bunch of empty platters. I got to meet Rick Steves, another visitor at the store, and was very proud of refraining from asking for travel advice. I checked out the website, and there are grand opening activities going on for the first week at least. I love this location. I've been to a few other locations but by far this one is the best. It's not too big and not too small! I've had quick lunch or dinner here few times from the hot deli section and my favorite is the balsamic chicken. It's so good-- I had to look up the recipe myself from the PCC website because sometimes loading too much food into your box can be costly ($8.99/lb). Last night I was walking around looking lost (lol) and an employee immediately asked me what I'm looking for and directed me to the right place. Kudos to him! After grabbing my food I went to sit by the window to eat by the fruit section and I was amazed by how wonderfully the vegetables and fruits were arranged. Also the smell of the fruits were so amazing and delicious I had a pleasant time eating while smelling them rather than smelling shopping carts. read more

PCC is a nice store. In my ranking of similar stores it's 3rd after Central Market and Whole Foods based on selection, shopping experience, and value. I think the selection is rather slim and the prices are very high- even the sale prices. If you want to spend $17 on a whole organic chicken this is your place. PCC is one of the only non-Indian stores I've seen carrying paneer. That is awesome. It's very expensive here though. Props to them for carrying pints of Full Tilt! ($5/pint isn't bad considering the price you pay in the shop.) Staff is nice and helpful here. This is where I was first recommended Santa Maria seasoning which I have used for years now. They have a great meat/fish section. This location is very hippie friendly as in energy efficient, environmentally responsible yada yada. They have natural lighting, electric car charging stations, and rain gardens in the parking lot. Good salad bar and deli. I like their pizza a lot. I'm a fan but don't have enough $$/ don't feel guilty enough to do much shopping here. read more

Too big. Too glitzy. I was an original member of PCC when we got our flour straight out of bins and people changed clothes from the free pile in front! I've been putting off writing my 900th review because I kept telling myself I had to review some amazing, epic place. However, this basically led to me putting off my 900th review for a couple of weeks now. Thus, I just decided to move forward because I have tons of places still to review! This PCC may not be amazing and epic, but it IS pretty darn awesome. I like PCC a lot and I'm glad that we have one in Edmonds now. I hate the QFC across the road because it's too pricey for crappy quality. PCC may be pricey as well, but their products are much higher quality. Employees are helpful and friendly and the aisles are organized in a logical manner. They have a good bulk section, as well as super fresh produce. Their wall of cheese is pretty impressive too! If you are looking for a particular product, you can call the store and they will connect you to an employee in the correct department. I was on the hunt for cotija cheese for a butternut squash taco recipe. I searched all the local chain stores, but found nothing. I figured I'd give PCC a call and, just my luck, they had it! Overall, I don't shop at PCC often, but when I do, they have exactly what I need and it's always a very good experience. read more

My dream has come true! Finally, PCC has opened up 24,000 square feet of natural goodness in Edmonds. They've taken over what used to be Albertsons and transformed this into a beautiful market complete with everything one would expect from a PCC, and more! This is my kind of store! As we pulled up, there was a garden in the parking lot. Their rainwater harvesting system at this location is awesome & great for the Sound, too! The staff inside were super nice. Liked the layout of the store. And of course I liked lots of the natural and good-for-you products they sold. I'm sorry, but I'm just not that impressed. Prices are way to high and the product selection is so hit and miss I just can't give them more then three stars. For what I pay for a bag of groceries here and I can go to Trader Joes and get the same high quality products plus an extra two bags of groceries. I am absolutely in love with their deli items! This place is my go-to lunch destination. I have had countless dishes and never been disappointed. I even ask for the nutritional information and its readily available. My favorite deli items are: Texas Quinoa Tabouli (I get this at least 2x a week) Roasted New Potatoes & Dill Salad Curried Lentil and Quinoa Salad Chipotle Chicken (bomb-ness) Curried Chicken Cashew Salad Turkish Garbonzo Beans Southeast Asian Tempeh Spicy Tofu & Spelt Damascus Veggie bites And OMG, don't forget about their sorbet and ice cream area. They have a flavor called cardamon and it's amazing....and please bring back the lemon cookie it was to die for! And I'm obsessed with their Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie in their bakery case! Great deli...great dishes....great store!! Can you tell I'm a fan?? :) read more

This store is a foodie's heaven! As well as for anyone who is vegan, vegetarian, on a wheat free diet, etc. Amazing selection of good food here! I think I spent more than an hour just browsing around and I only came here in search of Nancy's Yogurt, which they also had. I would be shopping here all the time if I lived here (and had a reasonable paying job ;-) ). I loved the Deli selections and how they had samples for everything if you want. I ended up getting an amazing Onion relish and chevre sandwich from here! The bakery section was awesome too. Great vegan cupcakes! I settled on the pains au chocolat and brownies. It's awesome that they have a classroom here with (what looked like) beer-tasting going on that evening. And it seems they do other sorts of cooking demonstrations too. This place makes me wish I lived in the Seattle area. I'm a huge fan of Trader Joes, but PCC has stolen my heart. I can't wait till the next time I'm heading back down that way so I can say hello to my new love. Oh and another great thing they have is self-check out! Definitely not my cup o' tea...or mug o' beer. I wasn't always a fan of the organic movement and these pricey grocery stores, but visiting Whole Foods a few times and my mind has slightly changed. But, I still can't wrap my mind around paying so much money for such small quantities of greens and meats. About this specific grocery, it's pretty underwhelming. Dim, small, and high prices...makes me want to run barefoot and half-naked to my nearest Trader Joe's. Bought a few items from the bakery section and brought them to a potluck... not a hit... Good selections prices are a bit high. My only concern is their organic ground beefs don't stay fresh as long as it says it will! But still other food items are great their ready made bars are pretty good and their pastries are very tasty. Reminds me of mothers market it Orange County, Ca which I terribly missed when we moved and when we found PCC we were happy. read more

I love PCC. I love that it does grocery like its an art without overdoing it and being insanely expensive. (like some others organic chains out there). Being a local chain is another big plus. After 10 hrs of suffering and driving endlessly up and down Aurora Blvd and Hwy 99, I have had enough nonsense! I couldn't find any open stores but PCC. I realized I had no more water and no candles so I bought candles to last me for good six months. Hahaha! I'm ready for more Zombie days! Anywho, PCC for all of you who live around Edmonds, they have their own generator ppl. I thought I would have to go to my work and spend the night there if this nonsense continued! I'm just laughing about all this but really.... "Thank you PCC" for being around--for having water and candles (great candles--totally worth a buck twenty a pc.) I think I bought all of them. One of the fancier PCC markets! Right away the deli captures me with its well stocked options of sandwiches, hot bar, soups, massive salads, and even a mini sushi stand! I found this to be the most well-stocked branch of the grocer and there is an amazing huge area for cheeses and condiments. If you happen to be in the Edmonds area and need your organic/veggie fix this is a perfect one stop shop! Plus there is also a Bartells and two Starbucks across the way to sweeten the grocery load. read more

I just love this PCC! It's roomy, with lots of natural light, and I feel happy when I go there. The staff seems truly happy there, too. I love them! Go straight to the deli and get a nice mix of items for your lunch, breakfast, or dinner! I do! My favorites (so far) are the lentil with feta cheese dish, the lovely kale dishes, and a great spicy tofu dish. Wowy! Had it twice in one week, and it was deee-lish! I also felt highly energized, as that is one healthy meal! And it always ranges in the $4.50 - $5.00 range - so cheap, for the most fantastic food! They also have yerba mate available in a pump, right next to the java selections. Some day, that'll be the norm, but for now, go to PCC. Veggies are spendy (shop the sales or go to your Farmer's Market for those!). read more

I love pcc. I go to pcc 3x a week at least on the eastside. Issaquah being my main store. I've been going for too many years but can't deny my absolute love for them. The only issue is I go into this Edmonds store since I was over in seattle visiting a friend and they must have a huge issue with stealing. I got judged immediately. Like what? I spend over half my pay check at your store and you have the audacity to think I'm stealing and make it obvious? The self check out guy runs over while I'm having my friend hold the pizza and I'm scanning all my actually expensive items first. And I got an issue where a pop up came on the screen so I step aside wait for him he comes up doesn't help me with the error on the screen but proceeds to ask me if I'm going to scan the pizza. What? How do you expect me to do that with this screen error sir. F off I'm not done scanning my other items first. Just because someone is standing there holding the pizza and helping me doesn't mean I'm stealing. I get the guys probably not super passionate about his career (I would love to work at pcc if it paid me the salary I deserve) and can't find any good grocery job but to discriminate someone is by far the rudest thing to do. I spend more money at the store you work at than you do. Next time you have a urge to accuse me of stealing why not come over and do your job first not wait for me to be like uh anyway fix my screen so I can proceed with scanning my items then yeah I'll get to the large pizza that I plan to skip bagging for anyway. If I was alone and he did that I would have cussed him out right then and there. But I'm a polite lady and didn't want my sweet boy to see me become a demon :) read more

Large, easily-reachable parking lot, awesome variety of stuff, big store, huge deli section with tons of pre-packaged stuff (like pasta, salads, etc) compared to the Greenlake store, and a great classroom. read more

It seems this store is tailored for the organic and natural you. High quality products with a focus on personal health. Ample parking outside with wide aisles inside. This store looks bigger on the outside than inside. Walking in the entrance closest to the street lets you into the produce department. They focus on locally sourced produce. Selection seems limited but quality seems really good. Half of the store focuses on supplements and organic/natural products. You can find anything you would normally buy at the regular chain stores in a natural form here. They have a frozen aisle with mostly organic and alternate-ingredient (soy instead of milk, meatless, etc.) products on the shelf. As with most natural foods stores in the Seattle area, this store has an extensive meat and seafood department along with a large cheese department with a very wide variety of choices to please your palate. The aisles are clearly marked and everything is well labeled. They even have a full service deli and coffee/snack bar! The interiors has an unfinished look, but you have to look to notice it since the layout of the store makes you look at the shelves more than the ceiling. The interior lighting is simple since they have skylights that let natural light in. Today, the day I visited, it was gloomy and cloudy, so it was a little darker. For organic stuff, it seems the prices are a little higher than what you may be able to get at Trader Joe's down the street in Lynnwood, but this store has it all when it comes to natural and organic products. A one-stop-shop for the health nut. -1 star for pricing. Everything else seems awesome! read more

Did my weekly shopping here again and discovered more items that tickle my fancy. Deli salads: tuna salad, quinoa tabbouleh, and curry lentil quinoa salad are simply da bomb. Great selection of freshly prepared soups. And le piece de resistance...huge selection of bulk spices, bulk nuts and grains. Love it! You can purchase a membership for a onetime charge of $60, that gets you some additional discounts, but most of all supports your local community and local organic farmers. read more

I love PCC and this one's so close to where I live! I'm so grateful there are more organic/gmo free markets opening up so I don't mind supporting them. Prices are a bit expensive for some things but I love choosing a healthier option for myself when I can. They have almost everything you can think of here and the food is so fresh. Whatever organic produce Costco doesn't have, PCC will never fail to have. I also like how they have organic lotion, soap, sunscreen, etc. read more

We were in the area and stopped by to grab some breakfast stuff. I have not been in a PCC in sometime. Either this one is really good or PCC has stepped up their game. Their produce was fresh and there was nice variety. They had a good selection of just about everything. They have a great premade food selection. I had an amazing kale slaw. They are giving Whole Foods a run for their money. If this was closer to the house, I would not hesitate to come here instead of the much closer Whole Foods. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the products that store was carrying. read more

I love it here but can't shop here too much because I would go broke. Not because of the the prices but because there is so much going on in here. In every department you will see different items that you will never see in a normal store. The snack and juice sections are what get me in trouble. Some items are so different and original that you have to buy it just to try it. The staff here is great and friendly, that alone makes you want to come back here. If you're in the deli department and they see you having a tough time choosing items they won't hesitate in giving you some samples. If you see something that looks interesting but don't know how to prepare it somebody there will give you some ideas. The one thing I love here is that your child is allowed to pick one piece of fruit for free. What an awesome way to to promote healthy eating to kids. This is the one thing my daughter looks forward to when we pull into the parking lot. Most kids would notice the big yellow "M" from a mile away but when my daughter sees the letters "PCC" she's thinking about her fruit. Yeah, the prices may be a little high but I've never walked out of there feeling like I just got mugged. If you're looking for low prices and "meh" quality then keep shopping at the outlet stores where items expired two weeks ago or tomorrow. If your looking for interesting stuff like you're at Pike Place Market but don't want to hassle with the weekend traffic and parking then stop in here. Don't go in here expecting to buy one thing, it will never happen. This place is like Home Depot, you go in needing one thing and you walk out with a cartful of stuff. read more

Though finding consistent food in the deli is a bit challenging the coffee is good and the staff are friendly. My only complaint is that there are so many cinnamon rolls int he bakery but not one is vegan or dairy free. =( I reccomend the Shot in the dark coffee and the curry chicken. I love PCC and have shopped here for years as a member. All their prepared food is really yummy with more or less organic ingredients! I have yet to eat anything I don't like. This is actually the ONLY supermarket where I enjoy the prepared food. Their recipes are just unique. LOOOOOVE THE PIZZAS! I always buy whole freshly made ones. You can select the different kinds offered or make your own. The produce always look great! Nice organic pomelos, that's hard to find. Somehow their organic bananas are the best. Great deal on quality bulk products. Pecans, walnuts and couscous are my favorites! I find all the nuts to be fresher and of higher quality than elsewhere so I always get them here. Love the seasonal fresh cakes from Macrina, lavender and blueberry ones are my favorites. People complain about price. But there's always sales going on, there's 5% off mid-month for 2 days, and for members 10% off once a month. The staff is usually friendly although I recently had some very bad experience with a certain Diane, loud and obnoxious cashier who usually acts like she owns the place. I brought a couple of deposit bottles and one of them was from Whole Foods and I didn't remember. "That's not ours" she half yelled pushing it away and giving a dirty look! Ok, whatever...Then another day, I brought a deposit 5 gallon spring water container. She was the only cashier available that early morning unfortunately so I had to go see her. "We don't take that for money" she yelled (YES YELLED !!!) Well, that is untrue! And this is out of line. I am not going to quarrel with this craaaaziness! I just left and then contacted James the store manager via their website. He responded politely. The next time I stopped by in the afternoon, Diane was there but this time I didn't hear her from afar. Thanks, James....This time, another cashier took the spring water container and added a credit to the amount purchased that day. Okay that was an unacceptable and shocking experience and as a yelper I get to share. But I have to be fair. That is not representative of what I usually experience at PCC. The other staff members have always been helpful and friendly. There's Cindy, Roland, and others that I don't know by name, but these folks make the store welcoming. A few years ago, the car battery died. It was night time and super cold outside. Teresa from the cosmetic department was kind enough to get her car and jump started my car. And she did all this without hesitation and with a smile. Hope I'll continue to see these folks at the store. And I do want to support a business that continues to set high standards. Higher than Whole Foods where quality have slightly gone south with lots of conventional stuff and produce from Mexico and staff working like robots since Amazon bought the business. Anyhow, back to PCC which seems like the last bastion of the coop type of business that values quality, sustainability, and all the good things. So five stars :) read more

Very Nice PCC store in Edmonds. Very convenient to get in and out of, plenty of parking, nice roomy store compared to some of the older ones. For organic, healthy, or more unusual options I go here and am always pleased. If you are interested in cooking from scratch with great ingredients this is place is perfect and also offers nice and unusual options for snacks. I have also take a cooking class here which was great. Nice venue for the class, reasonably priced for a cooking class, could easily see the instructor and what was going on, and the teaching cook for fun and upbeat and made it interesting. Like many other reviewers I very much love the pastry case. Many good options and great looking desserts you just don't see other places. read more

It's okay, I think the quality isn't as great as other markets. Do I really need $8 eggs ? I understand their organic. Pcc needed in Federal way, Kent Tacoma areas. The chicken I had was not good, to get rid of all the blood it turned out all dry. Pizza choice similar to anyplace. What they need is more gluten free pizza slices and dairy free. I cannot buy greasy pepperoni without feeling lousy in 30 minutes. My favorite location is Edmonds. I love their frozen foods, Amys has ice cream and if you go to their website they will send you coupons. read more

They have a unique variety of foods, many gluten-free, vegan/vegetarian, organic yadda yadda yadda. They have a smoked mozzarella pasta salad that everyone should eat everyday of their lives.
