A mediocre diner with well-cooked food that is way too overpriced. Tried a few different appetizers and entrees with a group of friends and was only impressed by the kimchi ketchup that came with the hash browns. Otherwise, the deviled eggs and fries with lobster gravy were just as you'd expect. The dirty French burger kicked it up a notch by being smothered in sauce, but was still a small portion for what you pay. There's a lack of creativity in the menu. The best thing about our meal was the music choice playing in the background. The 90's rap was on point. read more

I honestly couldn't even get a chance to try the food due to how rudely I was treated by Will, a member of management apparently. What started as a simple request ended with him mansplaining to me, speaking to me in a condescending manner, then hanging up on me. I have no desire to spend my money in an establishment that treats their customers this way. Do better sacred beast read more

I am just now getting around to writing this review after visiting for lunch on Christmas Eve day. We set out from Eastgate to OTR excited to eat at Bakersfield, unfortunately we had no such luck as it was closed as well as nearly every other restaurant in the neighborhood. Major bummer. We walked around trying to find something open so our trip to the city wasn't all in vain. We finally came upon Sacred Beast which WAS open. I was familiar with this restaurant, but hadn't been interested due to what just isn't my type of menu options. Chicken Liver Mousse, Foie Gras Torchon, and Beef Tartare are about as interesting to me as taking a guided tour of a sod farm. Nevertheless, we are hungry, they are open, should be something I can order without feeling pretentious. Surprisingly, we are quickly seated at a small table for two by the window. The dining space is beautiful with an expansive and open feel. From our table we could see the back of the restaurant, the gang members and lawyers on the street (gotta love OTR), the kitchen, etc. The vibe/atmosphere is solid. The noise level - always important to me - is just about right. Loud enough to know things are happening, quiet enough that I don't have to yell. Something could be done with the sounds of the chairs scrapping across the floor though - talk about nails on a chalkboard... anyway, an item that quickly stands out to us are the waiters. Each one appears to be the quintessential hipster, which is somewhat of a contrast to the décor. We go with one of the only menu items I am able to confidently pronounce: the crispy chicken (basically chicken nuggets). For sides, $5 each, we go with house-made fries, and the hash browns (per their menu, "cubes of golden goodness"). Food comes out at approx. 15 minutes and the entrée proves to be very good and the portion is huge. The chicken is everything you want a dish to be. The breading was unique with a texture and seasoning that my wife and I enjoyed. The three provided sauces - ranch, BBQ, and honey mustard - were all swings and misses. The BBQ sauce is just a wreck - not sure what they are going for here, but this does not taste like BBQ sauce. The fries prove to be very good and have a cheese sauce on the side that my wife loved. The "cubes of golden goodness" were left in the fryer a couple of minutes too long - not inedible, but maybe more like "cubes of brown okayness". The homemade ketchup on the side missed the mark. If you are keeping score, four of the five sauces with our meal were not so great. After finishing our meal we tried for at least ten minutes to get our waiter's attention as we were wanting to cash out - an overly common issue I seem to experience. Overall, a solid three star experience. Food was ok, service was ok, atmosphere was very good, prices about average to a little high for OTR. Honestly, I can see people really loving Sacred Beast. If you are considering visiting, I would definitely peruse the menu. If the offerings seem like your kind of thing this may become one of your new favorite restaurants. read more

I liked the ambience and the staff was very friendly! Welcoming atmosphere. The food was alright ... overpriced for what it was.

Sacred Beast offers a variety of great comfort food. They are particularly known for their burgers. I came here with a few friends one night and I tried out a few of their breakfast food items, which they offer all day. I had their cheesey eggs, maple pork belly, and hashbrowns served with kimchi ketchup. Their own flair on these classic breakfast items made them intriguingly delicious. The cheesey eggs was scrambled eggs with some creamy texture from the cheese. The maple pork belly were thick cut bacons that were sweet and savory. I was surprised how good the hashbrown were, with a crunchy outer layer and combined with the kimchi ketchup, it gave it some sweet tang and a little bit of kick. We also shared a plate of their deviled eggs topped with pork grinds which added some crunch and depth to a normal deviled eggs, as well as their steak tartare frites. Our server was very attentive and gave great service. I recommend checking this place out. read more

I don't get all the hype. This is the second time I have been here and I'm more disappointed than before. First, I reserved a table through Open Door, but when we arrived, we were told there was no reservation. When I asked if we could sit outside, I was told that was by reservation only. Ugh. Despite the back room being completely empty, the hostess sat us at a table RIGHT in front of the kitchen door. We ordered the burger for lunch and that's all we got. A burger. No side, no fruit, no garnish. $14.75 for a single burger is ridiculous. The server was nice and attentive but the food was disappointing. read more

If you're in the mood to try something a little different, check out Sacred Beast. I've been twice and I've been impressed with everything I've tasted. The decor is a little eclectic, with mirrored ceilings and tufted leather booths. The music is stellar, we jammed all through our meal. Try the deviled eggs, they're super unique and really texturally interesting. Cocktails were well balanced and not too sweet, which I value in a drink. Our entrees came out quickly and were really interesting. The hash browns are a MUST- they almost are like fried tofu cubes, they're super crispy on the outside and soft and creamy inside. Kimchi ketchup is a really cool alternative. read more

Came here with my brother who is temporarily living in the area. We were going to the theatre, so we had an early dinner. We arrived at 4:30, so the place was nearly empty. I went in first while my brother parked that car. Even though there were tons of tables open, the waiter tried to seat us at a tiny little 2-top. When I disagreed, he left, and let me stand by the door to wait for my brother to arrive. Then an adult came out from the back - the manager perhaps? - and seated us at a large booth. Millennial Waiter with man-bun returned to take our order. We ordered starter and main course. Service was slow, even though there were very few diners. First course of matzoh ball soup was excellent. Second course of steak au poivre (I had to ask for a steak knife) was generally good flavor and properly cooked, although there was a large bit of fat in the meat, rendering part of it inedible. When I gave that feedback to the manager, he was unconcerned, and did not even offer any apology. Finally, the waiter ran the entire check on my credit card, rather than splitting it between the two cards. He said he voided it out, so we'll see in a few days if it all shows up correctly in my bank statement. All in all, pretty amateur effort from this restaurant, considering the prices they charge. Doesn't anyone know how to properly wait tables at a restaurant anymore? read more

Excellent restaurant. You have to try the French fries with lobster sauce. Unbelievably fill with flavor. The burgers are awesome too...single is a double pattie and the double is a single pattie. Order it juicy! Perhaps the BEST part was the fact that it's a husband (working on the expo line) and wife (chef) team that instills great work ethics into their kids (daughter was hostess and the son was a food runner). We need more parents in the workd like these two. Again, great food and great service. You won't be disappointed! read more

Meh. I don't need to come back. I ordered the toasted veggies. Asked the waitress to not bring the cucumber sauce. She brought it anyway.the food was just ok. Nothing great. I was pleasantly surprised by the matzah ball soup here- found it to be tasty and filling, a perfect comfort food for a chilly fall evening. I also ordered the salmon entree, which did not impress. It was overly oily and salty, turning what I thought would be a healthy option into something that was clearly not. In my experience, I found the items to be hit-or-miss and would advise to check your order with the server beforehand to make sure the food is aligned with expectations. read more

Love this place friendly and awesome staff the mocktails are amazing the seating good the food so good

This place sucks. They're food and flavors fall short on the menu. The only thing that makes this place great is there decorating. I brought my mom and daughter there bc a friend told me the food was good. Boy, was he wrong. We decided to get chicken tenders, fries and onion rings (which by the way you have to order all 3 separately they don't come as an entree- price gouging) bc nothing else in the menu sounded good. The waiter suggested that the tenders were good and they weren't. They were bland and then they used the same breading on the Chxn tenders for the onion rings. To top it off those 'tenders' were nuggets and they served the nuggets in a small serving dish- this is supposed to be the entree. So I was confused on that. Buyer beware this wannabe hipster foodie experience is not even worth a foot in the door. Go to Pontiac! You won't be disappointed with their food, flavor, and portions. read more

My book club came here for brunch, and the atmosphere was really cool. The ricotta lemon pancakes were very good, but I did not love their scrambled egg style which was very runny / underdone. Everyone else in my party requested theirs not runny, which I regret not doing (I like to try things as they are supposed to come). I would go again, and try something more dinner based. read more

THE BURGER! GET IT! Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. They were pretty busy and said there would be a wait, but then they offered the option to sit at the "counter" so we didn't have to wait at all! They truly were the best seats in the house! It was really cool to watch everything in the kitchen area. My friend and I decided to split the burger with an order of fries and my other friends got the matzo ball soup and the lobster fries. The burger was amazing. So amazing I've been thinking about it for days! It was maybe the best burger I've ever had. The fries were also super tasty and I loved the mornay sauce that came with them. I tried my friends matzo ball soup and I also enjoyed it! You can really taste the earthy root veggies. I also tried the Aviator cocktail. It was ok, pretty strong, but no real flavor past that. Would definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

Went with family for the holiday (Rosh Hashanah) prefix dinner. What a great meal! Salad + chicken liver mousse plate + matzo ball soup + short rib + potato knish + grilled veggies with tehina + almond cake. Amazing! Huge amount of food, great value and great taste. My favorites were the liver mousse (so rich in flavor and perfectly paired with cornichon and pickled parsley) and the grilled veggies (green beans, sweet potato and eggplant were so tender and drizzled nicely with sesame-based sauce). Recommendations: 1. don't charge for extra bread 2. Take ice cream out of the container it came in, don't just stick a cardboard cup on my nice dessert plate. It ruined the esthetic (especially since the Oreo and cookie dough brownie that it can with was already to die for) Would definitely come back read more

My, OTR, how you have grown! So many foodie destinations, so little time. But when your belly is growling like a monster, why not combat it with a beast? A Sacred Beast! The feel of the place is like a classic diner but modernized with lots of comfortable seating as well as front counter seats. The menu is a la carte and features a nice variety of delicious choices while not being overwhelming. The options do change fairly frequently though. They also have an impressive drink list featuring excellent beer, wine, spirit, and cocktail choices. I brought my lady here because she's been wanting to go for a while. We started with a couple drinks, she started with a glass of red wine (I honestly forget what kind) and I had a pint of Jackie O's See Foam IPA. We decided against appetizers, though they had some nice, tasty looking options. For our dinner, she chose the single cheeseburger and I chose the chicken crispers, along with a side of housemade fries and Chinese broccoli. Everything was VERY tasty and the service was very good... Until our server took a couple dishes from our table before we were finished. It wasn't much that she took but it still made us feel a little rushed. Still, after our meals, we decided to split a cocktail for dessert, the Covington Iced Tea, which was really well-made. I could definitely recommend this drink to anyone. This is a beauty of a beast but not one that'll devour your wallet and leave you feeling empty. So... Be its guest, be its guest, put its service to the test! read more

One word, Amazing! The food, the drinks decor, the staff were amazing. It's a new trendy bar diner that will soon have a long wait for seating. I usually eschew, the hip, new, "you have to go" eateries but the food was really that great. The appetizers and entrees were familiar but the chefs elevated it to a level that for several dishes were the "best version" of that dish I've ever had. Of the large party I was with, the reviews of their entrees were equally as good. The staff were very friendly and well versed on the menu. The ambience and decor was cozy and comfortable. Even with every seat taken, the service was quite fast. We were there for brunch, and from drinks to dessert, it may have taken 35 minutes. It's not that they are rushing you, I think it's more that they're very efficient and they do it without you noticing. The kitchen is open, so you can see the chefs, who all seemed in sync and having a great time preparing amazing meals. We sat there for another 25 minutes chatting and they only gave us the bill when we asked, even though the line outside was getting longer. One of the best places I've been in years, with some dishes that might be the best I've ever had. Go now, before the long wait becomes routine. read more

Great service! Location was clean and easy to find. I met 2 friends here for brunch. Our waiter was very attentive. I ordered the corn beef hash and ricotta pancakes. The corn beef was a tad bit over cooked, but the hash was very flavorful. Pancakes were just ok for me, but everything came together nicely. I like the simple dinner feel with an elevated focus on food quality. read more

I have wanted to try this place for a year. Walked in for lunch today and it didn't disappoint. The vibe is so cool, leaving some walls with the original brick and cement. Let's get this straight: the ambiance and drinks are awesome!!! So if you're coming for drinks this is a very good choice. If you're looking for a late night dinner option, might as well be great, since that's what you'll find on the menu. But don't expect it to be cheap. However, if you come to have dinner and are expecting something extraordinary, then this is the wrong place. And that's what happened to me. I thought I would be getting something nice given the reputation of their chef, but I got very disappointed. I had a burger and my hubby the steak tartar and we were not impressed, specially for the price we paid. read more

My son took me here for lunch. Very limited menu. I loved the decor, but you can't eat that! I had the shrimp fries (10.95) and my son had the hash browns (12.95). We had my granddaughter with us and there is no kids menu so we had to order her an adult meal (there is no reason for not having at least 2 kid options!) my bill came to almost $60 bucks with teas and tip. I was still hungry as well. My dish was those annoying little shoestring fries and some very small frozen shrimp with some sort of bland tasting cheese sauce. My son's hash browns with "neck bone" gravy wasn't much better. Just don't get the price for items like this that don't have much imagination or flavor. This was a trip so I could say, "Yeah, I've tried it" but why would I return to pay this much for this quality. I really loved the service but not enough to return. read more

Nice spot downtown on Vine. Has a really cool vibe, nice sound system and most importantly good food. What's nice about this family owned business is the Sacred Beast has a personality that genuine, not manufactured like the chains create. Not a cookie cutter menu, so expect something different with the options. I went with family and we were seated in a booth with a great view of the Kitchen and bar. We had a variety of dishes - ALL were tasty! Service was outstanding. Started out with deviled eggs, Chicken Liver Mousse and steak tartare - you can't go wrong with any. Our group went with the hamburgers which were all excellent. Loved the pork belly and egg added to the burger. A tasty gourmet burger like you've never had! Get downtown and try this spot! read more

One of the better dining experiences I've had in a while. Atmosphere is top notch. Nick our server was awesome and definitely added to the great overall experience. Food was familiar and approachable but kicked up a few notches. You can tell the chef knows how to combine comfort food and high end dining to provide a truly unique and enjoyable experience. Had so many things - lobster gravy fries, hash brown side, cucumber side, burger, corned beef, smoked salmon special, ricotta pancakes, almond butter cake. Not a bad bite of food. How can I even begin. Located in the upcoming and hip/trendy OTR (Over the Rhine). brand new establishment with a fun and easy vibe. Big spacious tables and comfortable sitting for many people. Breakfast ALL DAY. I highly recommend the omelet. They also have a great selection of spirits, wines and alcohol in general. The staff is super friendly, attentive and punctual. They also have a bar sitting, the music is not too loud where you can have a conversation. Overall, a great dining experience. read more

Absolutely disgusted by the service of the staff of this restaurant! They kicked my friends and I out, before taking our order, for having a good time in the booth! They said we made racial slurs to the young man giving us water. Which was absolutely something we would NEVER DO! We were four moms out for a late dinner before shopping the day and just looking for a good time. The manager, I'm assuming, was on a major power trip and wouldn't even listen to what we had to say. In these tough times, it shocks me how people can be so rude. I'm glad we left! They didn't deserve our money! We went to The Eagle and the staff was amazingly nice! Our waiter got a well deserved Holiday tip! It pays to be nice! read more

Reading another reviewer I am baffled by such a long winded dissertation on how the diner needed to be convinced why tartare or chicken liver mousse should be good. They're delicious. I went last night for the first time and can't for the life of me figure out why it's taken me so long to try Sacred Beast. I want to go back this morning and have not convinced myself not to yet. The service was great. Very friendly, attentive, and a wealth of information for any question asked. The deviled egg portion was the most generous for the price that I've had anywhere except grandmas house. They give you 6 or 8 halves. I think 8 but memory is escaping me. The roasted hash was amazing. Setting and sound selection kept me bobbing my head all night. Almond cake with plum purée for desert, holy cow was it good ***** I must break in with an emergency alert. Eat the bread pudding French toast. read more

Not Worth It. I am willing to pay whatever for good food, like if it's amazing. And I'm fine with good food that's less than amazing but is a reasonable price. Sacred Beast has decent food, but the valueis just not there for me. I understand that they are going for an "upscale diner", but what does that even mean? I went here with my parents, in-laws, and husband on a Tuesday night. It was dead so we were seated right away. The interior is cool and I liked that they have an open kitchen so you can see what is happening. For an older crowd (aka my parents) it was hard for them to hear inside because the music was so loud. *That has nothing to do with my rating, just a side note in case you/your friends are hard of hearing. Matzo ball soup is one of my favorite foods and it's so rare that you see it in a restaurant, so I was PUMPED when I spotted it on the menu! I wasn't sure how filling it would be so I ordered a side of pork belly too. Thank goodness I did! The $10 soup was one huge matzo ball (like the size of a fist) and maybe 3/4 cup broth, lots of carrots and parsnips. The soup was good, not out of the world, and certainly not worth $10. The pork belly was tasty, came with 4, 2.5 inch pieces and was $6. I didn't really mind the pricing of that, but if you're someone who has a big appetite, that will not hold you over. My husband got the diner breakfast and the pancakes were amazing, but for some reason he didn't like the eggs. They were very orange. I will say my dad loved what he got, turmeric chicken thighs over marinated cucumbers. The dish was beautiful and had a good flavor. The cucumbers had a light spice to them but were still very fresh and brightened the dish. It was a reasonable price for the quality and quantity, about $14. Check it out, or don't. Cincinnati is filled with so many amazing food spots that I don't think there is any need to go here again. read more

Went to Sacred Beast with a group of 5. The ambiance is nice and it has a cool vibe. Collectively the food was fantastic. For appetizers we had the lobster gravy poutine and The deviled eggs. Deviled eggs were good, the poutine was very good. My wife and I had the burger, my daughter had the French toast. We all cleaned our plates so there is absolutely no complaint about the quality of the food. I would say that a total bill of 175 (after tip) is a touch steep which is why I go 4 stars on this. In fairness, I had a Bloody Mary (Tito's) and an Irish Coffee so about $22 worth of drinks in there. read more

The Sacred Beast was different in the fact that I think I wasn't expecting fancy diner food. We were in OTR one weekend and wanted to eat somewhere and my husband just picked this place. There was no rhyme or reason, but we needed somewhere to eat and he picked here. The food wasn't bad but not what I think I would typically want. I'm not sure how to describe it. For me it was one of those restaurants that it was nice to try but I doubt I would ever pick to come here again. Nothing happened or went wrong. It's just one of those situations were you try it but it's just not your vibe/thing and move on. I hope this makes since. Anywho, my husband and I started off with drinks. I had the milkshake martini and my husband had the old fashioned. I loved their milkshake martini! It was super yummy! I love creamy alcoholic drinks and chocolate alcoholic drinks, so this was a win! My husband didn't mention much about his drink so I suppose it was ok. My husband ordered the burger and fries and I ordered the Hash Browns and Deviled Eggs. It seems deviled eggs is becoming more of a thing on restaurant's mens. I love it! My husband and daughter, not so much. My husband's burger and fries were ok. Your typical burger and fries. It was pretty good. No complaints. It wasn't the best burger on earth but it wasn't anything to complain about. The hash browns consisted of neck bone gravy, chicken confit, and fried egg. This dish was actually pretty good. I loved what seemed to be homemade square pieces of hash brown. The fried egg on top was perfect. The deviled eggs were different. It just seemed to be a boiled yolk center with a pinch of deviled egg cream center on top. It was weird and I had never had this before. You know how deviled eggs are filled with the whipped boiled egg center (hardened yolk) mixed with mayo and other stuff? Well this was mainly the boiled egg not whipped with a pinch of the whipped center on top. It wasn't what I was use to. These weren't my favorite deviled egg I've had from a restaurant. Overall, Sacred Beast isn't bad and has decent food. It's just not my thing. I'm not really a diner type of girl. If you like that type of food you will like Sacred Beast. read more

Totally unimpressed. First impression - a diner. I asked our sweet and friendly server what they were known for and she said their burgers priced at 11 and 13 dollars, individually. The side of fires - 5 dollars. We dined at the bar and could see the staff prepare food which was neat. However, of the 3 things we ordered only one was worth enjoying- jog salmon, priced at 19 dollars with no side. The fries were probably cooked twice. Once to partially cook and a second time to flash fry and if done correctly, the fries will be great. Ours weren't. They were sort of limp and lack luster. The beet salad was terrible. Simply put, the pistachios were stale and the beets were over cooked. Honestly, the beets tasted like they came from a can. Upon inquiry I found out they roasted them in house which was quite a shock, based on taste. The pistachios being stale ruined it for me. You know it when something is stale. The overly soft texture of the beets paired with a goat cheese that was probably reduced with some sort or vinegar was too soupy and overall the mouth feel was no bueno. I had a beer that was 7 bucks and it was A ok but you can find better elsewhere for half the price. The menu offerings in my opinion are over priced and underwhelming. Sorry Sacred beast, I can't recommend. read more

We always enjoy stopping here when we were in town. The original set up looked and sounded like a night club. It just really didn't seem to fit the customer base or the food at all.
