Sopes (2)
Shelby S.

Dinner Stop 2 on our Beaver Creek Conference trip was Sabor Mazatlan. As someone who truly remembers when Colorado had Mexican food to die for, I was really looking forward to trying this place. When we walked in we were greeted and sat immediately. The environment was warm and the aroma of the amazing food hit you AS SOON as you got in the door. The menu had an elaborate amount of choices and it seemed as though their Seafood was something they were known for. We did not try the seafood this go round, however we are looking forward to coming back and trying their Crab Enchiladas and other enticing items. The things we did have the pleasure of trying were the salsa and chips, jalapeno cheese sauce, a combination plate with a tamal and chimichanga and Sopes with Pork Carnitas.     Salsa and Chips 10/10 (not pictured)   The salsa was just how we like it, fresh and spicy and you could tell the chips were freshly made. The salsa had great flavor with a kick that was not overwhelming.   Combination Plate with Tamal, Enchilada, and Chimichanga and a side of Jalapeno Cheese Sauce 8.5/10   The meal came beautifully plated along with a side of beans, cheese, and rice. The Chimichanga was tightly wrapped and filled with delicious meat and other flavors. The enchilada was stuffed with ground beef and had a flavorful red sauce on top of it with the perfect amount of cheese. The tamal came with green sauce that we opted to have on the side. It was evident that the tamal was intended to have the sauce accompanying it as the flavor of the tamal on its own was not extremely powerful, but was still very juicy and had light flavor. The jalapeno cheese sauce was delicious and could have been put on anything - we do wish it was a bit warmer, but even a little cold it was still good!   Sopes  with Pork Carnitas 9/10   This was our first time trying Sopes so we were super excited to have them. They came covered in cheese and sour cream along with guacamole and a large helping of excellently marinated pork carnitas. Additionally the plate came with beans, cheese, and rice. The flavor of each of the foods featured on the Sopes melted together beautifully with each bite and even though there were only two - they were extremely filling.   The customer service was excellent, the food was fresh and came out quick, and our overall experience was quite enjoyable. We have already decided this will be a spot we frequent whenever we are in the area and are considering going back for lunch today.

Burrito de Asada was delicious!

Great food! Very friendly service. Clean bathroom. Stopped here on the way to Aspen. Hopefully can stop here again.

I will say, this place seems as if you should only be a regular or of a certain race to come here. Because we are neither, we never were waited on until I finally stopped a waitress and asked if we could order. Every other server walked by, looked at us & walked past. The food was very bland, slightly pricey. I was excited to try as it seems very authentic but to put it frankly, we don't fit in here.

This restaurant was steps away from our lodge and we decided to give it a try for dinner. The portions are huge and the food tasty. My carnitas plate was delicious, the meat very flavorful. We both loved the complimentary salsa, too bad the margaritas were so disappointing. The house marg was sweet, the Kelly less so but both seemed to have very little tequila.

This was a very pleasant surprise to have just walked into this place and see that it was so small but unbelievably great food! We loved the dishes we each chose, which one was the shrimp tocos with crisp corn tortillas and a burrito. The service was good, it is a small family owned place from what I could tell

Very yummy and authentic Mexican food. Came here twice and food was great both times. And, portions are very generous! Highly recommend!

Extensive menu, robust seafood choices, good sized portions and great food. Clearly a locals destination as well.

Some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. The chipotle sauce is one of a kind. Also, who can hate complimentary queso when you sit down?!

I have eaten at every restaurant on the square except there. We arrive at 2:37pm and the host told he could not seat us because the close at 3pm a reopen at 4:30pm and they take their last seating at 2pm for lunch! We graciously left and said we were sorry. I go back there today by myself at 2pm and was seated at the bar by the same host. Sat down at the bar the server was Kurt and pushing, which I am use to up here, did not even excuse herself or tell she was leaving. Kind of rude as a server. As I was finishing up I notice people coming 2:37pm, 2:45pm and 2:50pm and the same host that refused to serve us sat every one of them at a table. This was my first time eating this restaurant and after our experience the day before. It is not a good look. I do not think will eat there again. Derrick Poe

Extremely small pieces. Six for $30. Nuts. Almost tasteless. And that is the problem with this place. The prices are even beyond ski resort crazy We got a spicy salmon roll with ikura for $42. Eight small pieces. And these spicy fish items, of course, use all the odds and ends of the fish. They are the byproduct of Nigiri. As someone who eats in New York and San Francisco all the time and even in Park City and Vail, I was really shocked by these crazy prices.

I love the rustic cabin decor in the dinning room, very warm and cozy vibe. Our server Brett is great, informative and very patience with us. Soup of the Day was Beef & Vegetable and it was pretty good. On the entrees, we went with the grilled wild game meats. Hubby got the Elk Combo (Elk Chop, Grilled Quail, Jackalope sausage). The chop cooked just right, tasty sausage and the quail was delicious. I had the Elk Tenderloin, it was flavorful but I should have ordered medium rare instead of medium as it was overdone to my liking :P

My friend and I went here after a sweet birthday camping trip. We ate outside on the patio which has that secluded garden feeling. Our first order was an appetizer of Rocky Mountain oysters. I had never had them before but always wanted to try. They were excellent by the way!... thinly sliced, with a taste and texture similar to veal. I ordered the Wagyu or Kobe beef burger, I don't recall what it was exactly but it was super tender and delicious, cooked perfectly to my request. With all the accessories, my burger was about 4 1/2 inches tall! The truffle fries were fragrant, delicious and perfectly cooked. Michael was incredible! Sincerely the best service I think I've ever had. It was my friends 35th birthday and, at the end of our meal, Michael brought her out a sweet little chocolate cake of some kind and sang happy birthday to her in Swedish. It was the kind of experience that everyone who dines out hopes to get. I know it's super rare to get that level of quality when dining out, and so I highly recommend going during the off hours. I am definitely going back there to sample more of their exotic game menu... perhaps the elk tenderloin next! Cheers! And thank you Michael for a memorable experience!
