Family took me to this excellent spot - Sabor Do Brasil, for a quick bite to take something to go. We ordered Sirloin, Steak tips and Lamb. The place is small and welcoming. Cafeteria/buffet style where your order will weighed. Staff told us they have been in business for about 10 years, I enjoyed my experience. The meat was exceptionally flavorful! It's nothing fancy, sometimes a little hard to communicate with the cashier but they are great people and have great food. The Food~ The spicy sausage is juicy and rich with a bit of a kick. The garlic and regular Picanha meat are also soft and tender. The crusty skin with the garlic and salt bits mends well with the meat. Paired together with the jasmine butter rice neutralizes the saltiness and pulls you back for more. The oxtail and soup is also very good. The warm soup with the tender oxtail paired again with the rice is the perfect combo. There wasn't a lot of vegetable options but I'm not complaining :) The Logistics~ There is plenty of parking on the street and also a public parking lot near Blanchard. A party of 4 is considered large for this place and you'll end up taking all the seats. To be honest I came in here for the first time on a whim because all the other places in the area wee too crowded to eat at, but ever since I've been drawn back by my cravings for their juicy garlic steak. The restaurant has a little self-serve section where you can get your rice, plantains, salad, ect. The items vary every once in a while, sometimes they have spaghetti, sometimes salmon, and so on. Once you've gotten whatever sides it is you want (for me this usually involves loading my plate with as many plantains can fit), comes the best part. You head toward the little booth in the back and pick what meats you want. The guy that works there is extremely friendly and helpful. You can ask what meats they have and he'll name off all of them. My go-to by far has been the garlic steak. Once you've picked what meat you want and how well you want it done, he'll pull out a beautiful giant skewer and expertly cut as much of it as you want onto your plate. I constantly have to urge myself to not keep asking for more until there's no more meat left on the skewer. He'll then weigh your sides+meats and charge you. I've never paid more than 13-14 dollars and I've left stuffed every time. The only negative I can say with the food is that occasionally the chicken does come out on the dry side. The decor is minimal, but the place is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and most importantly the food is great. I wish more people knew about this place but at the same time I am more than happy to have it to myself. read more

As a Brazilian, it can be tough to find a spot that does the food well. Other spots butcher the food with so much garlic and salt you'd think they were trying to ward off vampires (Yes, i'm looking at you, Oasis, Midwest Grill, and Oliveira's). I've lived in Boston my whole life, ate home-made Brazilian food since I was a little squirt, and also ate at a ton of brazilian joints all over MA, so I am absolutely no stranger to the cuisine (i'm brazilian, what the hell do I have to prove?) Sabor do Brasil was like being transported back to my family's hometown. It's a small, honest place that does what it was meant to do: serve good food. And honestly, I think it tastes better because of it. The food is very well seasoned and always fresh, and the churrasco (while a little extra) was melting in my mouth. My friends were beyond impressed and so was I. ("better than oasis for sure") -- my inner consciousness, talking to me while I'm stuffing my face. So, in the end, 5/5 stars. Is it worth it? Yes. As for Brazilian bbq, NOTHING can beat the price here. It's slightly salty and harder than I'd like but it's still good. For $10 you can get very full. Make sure to do 50/50 (50% sides and 50% meat)!!!!***** It's WAY more cheapet and worth it that way!! This is way more worth than regular $40-50 ayce brazilian bbq places. Highly recommended. I've tried different types of meat and garlic pork&steak are my favorites. Pork is always great since it has some fat and makes the whole meat softer! Other meats (ex Sirloin) were too salty.. maybe it was just those times.. If I lived in Boston I'd go here at least once a month. SO GOOD! read more

I found the flavors in the food to be rather bland (minimal seasoning) and the food seemed overpriced as a whole. Best hidden gem in Allston. I'm so happy I live so close to this place. Sabor alone makes it worth living in Allston- rat city with loud, obnoxious, privileged college kids. The taste takes me back home. Nothing like a by the weight Brazilian restaurant to make me feel at home. You can't go wrong with the rice, beans and some meat to top it all off. The problem is when the meat looks so good that you want all of them and you realize you are paying by the pound.... My favorite was definitely the picanha com alho (garlic top sirloin). It had just the right amount of garlic to make the meat more interesting. I also loved the meat options available on the other side of the counter. I would not recommend the chicken heart because they were a little overcooked. Another important note is that if you want a seat at one of the 3 tables there, you may need to wait there until someone gets up and take their seat. The meats are very good. The place is a no frills restaurant but they can do with some signage with pricing for new comers. They should get rid of the butcher flaps at their front door. Load up your containers with a few days worth of meat for $9 a lb ($7 if you are getting buffet items) take it home and portion out your meals for a week along with veggies from home. You serve yourself here, and then choose what kind of meat you'd like from the kitchen. I usually get rice, beans, veggies and steak. I get a lot and the price comes to around 9 bucks. I highly recommend the steak. It can be fatty but it's super juicy and flavorful. Don't expect to sit down, as this restaurant is very tiny and only has two tables. Great find! Was going to go elsewhere in East Cambridge, but decided to go here instead. The one major downside is the size. There is room for about 6 people to sit, and even then, it's still pretty cramped. Aside from that, the food is excellent. There aren't a ton of options, but everything that was available was delicious. The rice and beans were my favorite. There are also great meat options, and I enjoyed the sausage. I wish I had gone on an emptier stomach so that I could have eaten more. A full plate of food and 1 Guarana was around $9, which was very reasonably priced. The service was great. This is one of my favorite spots. It's very unassuming from the outside and minimal decorations onde you walk in but the food is delicious and so reasonably priced. I go here at least once a week and am never disappointed. My favorites are the plantains and chicken salad from the buffet and then the linguiça, picanha and frango com bacon are classic go-tos. read more

I have lived in the area a long time and I NEVER noticed this place. Cafe Belo, which was across the street was my favorite restaurant growing up and when it closed it was really sad. The food at Sabor do Brasil is the closest I've had to that again. The rice is perfect and amazing and I could eat a mountain of it. The chicken and steak, which are the only meats I've tried were both delicious. The French fries are kind meh, but if you mix them in with the rice it's a lovely combination. I got a large meal for about $11. If I had ordered delivery from another place the meal would easily have been twice that! I'm so glad I know this place is here now but I almost wish I didn't cause I now I want it all the time. Recommending it to everyone! read more
