Small cozy spot with plenty of indoor seating and a very welcoming vibe. Felt like one of those local hidden gems you're lucky enough to stumble into while traveling. I can't really speak on parking since we were visiting from out of town, but once we sat down everything from the service to the food was amazing. Our server Angela was super polite, helpful, and made the whole experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious and tasted authentic from the first bite to the last. The fish, octopus, and shrimp ceviche was incredibly fresh with so much flavor. The Lomo Saltado was cooked perfectly and comforting in the best way. Good place for taste Peruvian cuisine with super generous portions in a casual, cozy spot near downtown. The menu is quite large and hits all of the most popular dishes like saltados and ceviches as well as a very big assortment of fried or other seafood dishes, and even soups like parihuela. Seeing the tables around us, looks like their most popular dishes are the ceviches and fried seafoods including their impressive jalea (assorted fried fish and other seafood including shrimp, squid, scallops, etc.), their chicharron de calamar (fried squid rings), and even their whole fried fish. The two of us got the chaufa de pollo, jalea, and fish+shrimp ceviche to share. Even just two of the dishes would've been more than enough since the portions are very very generous here, so all three together was overwheling in a good way. The ceviche had nice big chunks of fresh fish but only a small part of it was shrimp, which I didn't mind since I like fish more but if someone expected half/half they may be a bit disappointed; the leche de tigre was flavorful but not too acidic, and the nicely softened sweet potato on the side complemented everything well. The chaufa had a nice smoky flavor as expected and even after eating until we were stuffed, there was enough to fill an entire take home box. It could've had maybe a little more salt or umami but paired with the fried seafood in the jalea it was great. The jalea was really the showstopper here, a mountain of fried seafood topped with some lettuce and a nice pickled red onion salad. The coating was light and gave all the seafood a nice crisp but wasnt overly salty or crispy, and everything was nicely cooked without being dry or chewy; the pickled onions and lemon slices helped balance out the flavors and prevent everything from feeling too heavy. Overall, we had a great time and definitely got the most bang for our buck compared to really anything else in the area. While the food isn't as fancy or flashy as some of the other popular downtown spots, Sabor a Peru is a great neighborhood place for no frills, tasty, filling Peruvian fare. read more

Great mom and pop restaurant located in the heart of Wynwood. I've personally never had Peruvian food before and I thought it would be a great opportunity whilst visiting Miami. The menu was vast with many options but the servers were friendly and gave recommendations and refilled out waters very often. Expect to walk out full and 20 pounds heavier! We showed up here after unsuccessfully visiting CeviShiro a few blocks down the street (they are permanently closed) and being recommended Sabor as a suitable Peruvian alternative. And how lucky we were to receive that recommendation! We had never had Peruvian food before, but were welcomed by the staff and had everything explained to us. They offered us free Peruvian corn to start, which were crunchy and salty, far superior to the free peanuts you might get at other restaurants. We also ordered the Yuca a la Huancaina (cassava with cheese sauce), which I would describe as fries made with an exotic root vegetable, which thus makes it feel healthier. We then tried three main dishes: chaufa de mariscos (seafood fried rice), parihuela (seafood soup), and lomo saltado (stir fried beef strips and onions). We've been wanting to try Sabor a Peru for awhile now since every time we drive by we see it's a busy restaurant! They have both indoor and outdoor seating and two sections of their restaurant. Although it took them a little bit to get to us to take our order, once we placed it it was smooth from there. We ordered Choros a la Chalaca, Chaufa de Mariscos and an Alfajor to share. I gave this restaurant 3 stars because the Peruvian flavor was not there. The food was good, and the portions were amazing but if you're craving authentic Peruvian food, which is was we are used to, it's not there. The choros are not supposed to have sweet corn, it's supposed to have Peruvian corn which does change the flavor. I would most likely try this place again, there were other dishes that seemed to be more popular, like the chupe de camarones, which we want to try! They are pet friendly and I saw such a beautiful well behaved dog. All of the staff were great, attentive, detailed, friendly and FAST!
