I came here with high hopes and ordered the Gruyère croissant and the ricotta egg dish, but unfortunately, both were a miss for me. The coffee was decent, but I found it strange that a coffee shop didn't have basic options like brown sugar. While I'm fine with simple syrup, it felt like an odd omission. The bigger issue was with the pastries. I get that some places don't warm up their baked goods, but this is a pastry shop. Eating a cold croissant with cold cheese inside was disappointing. It's a small touch that would elevate the experience and align better with the expectations for a place specializing in them. Service is okay, overall not terrible, but it didn't meet the mark read more

It's expensive bread, so you just need to know that you're spending money on bread. Another review said it's like Starbucks- you're paying $6 for coffee so if you justify it that way it's not that bad. All the breads have this whole wheat bread look (with the grain peppering throughout the bread) without tasting dry. I assume it's that fresh milled grain but I don't know food well, I just know it tastes good. For flavored bread, all the savory ones that I've tried have all definitely hit- unique and a huge punch in the face. - Sourdough Cheese Jalopeno- it's a hefty heavy piece of bread. Like ~2lb weights. - Carm onion and Brie Pastry - it's like a croissant with everything bagel seasoning (plus fennel? Or some spice that's really fragrant). The moment you bite in the onions just punches you in the face- its got that toasty smoky flavor. The Brie is kind of there in the background, but it's all crispy from tidk how to describe. read more

I'm not a fan of the thick, dense bakery goods. Even the Banana bread is super thick/hard & scones are too. It's a sterile lunch room vibe to sit. I've been three times, so I gave them a chance. Not-my fav for pastries but has good coffee. But please don't ask them to top off your coffee. Lots of rules. Not cozy I also wanted to add. We had the squash cheese pastry & they wouldn't warm it up. Said they weren't able. Huh? Don't ask for extras. read more

Soooooo gooood! I tried the earl grey matcha this time and it was gwoood! It kinda tasted like fruity pebbles. I also tried the caramelized date latte at the Costa Mesa location and that was also delicious. read more

I love this place! Lots of parking, lots of seats, and plenty of great food. I've already gone a few times because it is just a fun place to meet with friends! The only thing that's weird sometimes is how quiet it is sometimes in the morning. I really enjoyed their coffee and their coffee cake. Honestly - I liked all their pastries. Sure it's a little bit expensive but I like the creative flavors they have and all the drink options. I'm definitely coming back. read more

In my recent visits to Rye, I've been disappointed because the matcha has been a pastel green versus like a true green. And if you are a matcha drinker, you know that color makes a difference and that if it's pastel green, they're not using as much matcha, the ratio is off. Not only that, they changed the cup sizes, so the cups are smaller, which is disappointing because the previous size was such a good size and felt reasonable when you were spending $9, $10 on a matcha. And now the cup is smaller, the price is the same, the matcha is lighter. Yesterday, I went back and decided to try a latte versus a matcha because I already quit on having their matcha. And I mentioned it to one of the sales workers there and I said, oh, your cups are smaller. And they said, yeah, but you're still getting the same amount of milk. Which made me question, like, so if I were to get the matcha, I would get the same amount of milk? I should be getting more matcha with a smaller cup, right? Anyway, the latte was amazing. It was good. The food is good. Everything was good this time. It's just that it's disappointing to see that the cups are smaller, yet the prices are the same. And I love Rye Goods. Like, I love going there. Won't get their matcha again, though, which is disappointing too. But if you're looking for a latte, good espresso, and you haven't been, you should go. But from someone that's been there and has been going for years, to see them change the cup size to a smaller size and still have the same prices, just, it's really disappointing. read more

Rye Goods is super yummy! It's located in a shopping center that's easy to miss (I turned into the wrong parking lot ) but the ambiance is very nice. Inside, there is Rye Goods, and across is another food shop it looked like pizza? But I'm not sure. The dining area is wide and spacious, plenty of room to study or work on anything where you need a quiet area to do so. It didn't seem overly loud inside and I can see why people enjoy going there to focus on work. Onto the food. My friend actually arrived first and ordered for me, so I didn't really get to experience inside the shop or the service. But once you place and pay for your order, your number is called and you just pick up the items in the order they come out. I ordered the Egg Bagel Sammy and an Iced Oolong Chai. Oh. My. Gosh. Let me tell you - although the Sammy was *very messy* upon biting into it haha - it was most delicious. Also, the chai did not disappoint. Yes, it is a little bit more on the pricey side, but the quality and experience made up for it. Found this place because my friend was recommended this place and she was dying to try it. Needless to say, it was definitely worth the visit and money spent and we will most definitely be back to try more items. read more

Rye Goods is located in a business area with plenty of parking. Google directions brought me to the wrong side of the building, it faces away from Red Hill Ave. Immediately when I walked into Rye Goods, I was mesmerized by everything they have to offer. I decided on the coffee cake, the chocolate chip cookie and after speaking to the friendly barista, Jade, I decided to have their in-house made maple rosemary latte. No regrets here! Out of all the cafes I visited, I want to say Rye Goods' chocolate chip cookie is top 5 for me. I also learned that they make other in-house syrups - morning sugar, mocha and vanilla. I'll have to come back and try the others. There's an entire seating area right next to the counter section. It's sooo beautiful with plenty of tables and seats. My favorite part about this cafe is their outdoor patio area! Super comfy!!! read more

Service is pretty good, can be a bit slow. Matcha is fantastic actually, very good. Food is terrible unfortunately. Had a breakfast burrito just fat chunks of potatoe and fat globs of egg, then big hunks of avocado. The distribution and placement and ratios of everything in the burrito is off. Also I tasted none of the cilantro cream or cheese, idk if they forgot to add it or what. This was a 20$ breakfast burrito mind you. I don't mind the price even though it's high, I just expect better quality. I also had their avo toast before and there tomato bagel. Both FAR below average. read more

Ugh, I wanted to love this place so bad but I really just liked it. On the one hand, I love rye. On the other hand, the reviews were pretty accurate regarding some of the major issues here. However, I tried to go in with an open mind and was pretty excited to pop by early morning and see the display case still full of fresh pastries. We really had our pick! The woman who took our order at the cashier was friendly and helpful. We decided on the rye pretzel (duh), the chocolate coffee croissant, and the vegan tea cake (today's flavor was blueberry almond). I also got a London fog to pair with our goodies. Unfortunately, it was so scalding hot and overflowing I could barely open the lid without spilling so that was a bit of a letdown. I also do agree that it would have elevated the experience even more to have the pastries warmed a bit. The space itself was super cool and to be honest I will probably come back to check it out for a work from "home" day; there's tons of table and lounge space so there's definitely a lot of potential here (agree with other reviews that some music would go a long way). It was pretty pricey though, our three items and tea came out to $45. The standout for me was the tea cake, so moist and sweet. But the chocolate coffee croissant was a little light on the coffee flavor? And the rye pretzel was tasty but nothing extraordinary, especially since it was a little cold. I will definitely give this place another try, since there are many more items here to try, and my love of rye bread is already calling me back. read more

Great spot! Lots of parking and a huge, sunlit indoor and outdoor seating area. I had an iced espresso with a seasonal flavoring, maple rosemary. I usually drink my coffee black so the flavoring was a little sweet for my liking but had a really nice flavor. My friends also got the same flavor and wasn't too sweet. I also had the donut which is an apple flavor at the moment. I grabbed a coffee on my way to something in the area at 10am on a Saturday and they were fully stocked with baked goods. I stopped by again around lunchtime to grab a jalapeño bagel but they were all out so be sure to get there in the morning if you want your pick of the baked goods. read more

I had looked forward to coming to Rye Goods and my daughter and I drove a half hour to get here and it was a real disappointment. When we first walked in, we were looking in the pastry case and we were going to buy a scone and another pastry and the woman behind the counter talked us out of both telling us they weren't very good. That should've been a red flag right there. We went ahead and ordered the tomato basil soup and a chicken salad sandwich. The soup came out cold and it was so thick and overcooked that it had condensed down to nothing but a salt bomb. It literally was inedible and I took it back and she refunded my money. Then I went back and sat down and attempted to eat the chicken salad sandwich, but the bread was so thick and dry and the chicken salad was dry as well with not much flavor. Also, they didn't even moisten the bread with any mayonnaise or anything so it was honestly pretty bad! The only thing good about it was the sweet grapes that were in it. I didn't even eat it. For 18 dollars it was sad to waste it but I was embarrassed to go up to the counter and ask for a refund for that too. Let's just say that we will never be going back there. Also, when I returned the soup, the girl at the counter made me feel bad about it saying that nobody ever returns the soup which I find very hard to believe. For the record this was at 2 o'clock and they close at three but still, they shouldn't be serving that.No excuses. read more

I am giving Rye Goods a review of five-star First of all, I was able to easily and for free, park my car When you walk in and see a full bakery display Pre-work life seems more than okay A lady before me ordered an oat milk latte (hot) I was like, "copy that" plus the banana bread, why not? The baker was hard at work in the background I spied Canyon Coffee, olive oil, and granola for sale as I peered around The proximal space was open and well lit Seating, seemingly plenty (not crowded), legit You can preview the menu online (by location), if you'd prefer to plan ahead Read the reviews to see what others have said Will return, other goods to taste Generally frugal, I did not feel this expense was a waste Service kind, grin Overall, I recommend, win xoxo -Op #opscoffeeventures read more

Amazing quality foods and coffee. Love all the pastries and quality ingredients that go into their foods.

So I have been going to Rye Goods since they were a truck in Old Town Tustin and I am BEYOND happy they are back in my neighborhood! I have been by at last 3-4 times already and so far have had nothing but GREAT experiences. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, and everything I've tried has been exemplary. Yes their prices are a smidge high but I personally like not having to tip and not having the screen turned around for me to add tip when pay. I prefer knowing it's already included and if you take this into account along with the fact that they use premium ingredients their prices are more than fair. I also love that they have take and bake items from empanadas to tortillas to all kinds of items (they vary). I have been impressed with the variety. They also have a great area next door to sit and work inside or outdoors. I brought my laptop one day and just worked happily away. :) read more

Situated in the back of an industrial building. Definitely an odd location, but it's likely where they do a lot of their prep work for their other stores. Order at the register and they call your name when ready. Friendly staff, but took awhile for our seemingly normal order to be made and it wasn't busy at all on a Sun morning. There is communal seating in a huge indoor warehouse type area and also some outdoor seating. Big chairs and couches everywhere. Some dining sets, too. We got their breakfast sandwich, quiche, and two lattes for low $40s. They add a 12% service fee to your order in lieu of tip. Didn't seem like we had an option to avoid it. Regardless, everything was great! Sandwich comes on your choice of bagel and is messy due to runny egg, so heads up. Quiche comes with little salad (lettuce and vinaigrette-like dressing only). I didn't see any meat options, so we were unintentionally vegetarians this morning! read more

The hot vanilla latte tasted like crap it had a weird chemical flavor. This place doesn't have quality coffee.

Rye goods is definitely a bakery, I have always loved their pastries! My favorite was the lemon Kringle which I'm not sure if they still have. Today I got the almond lemon poppy loaf and I loved it. A great snack The strawberry matcha was alright-- like I'll drink it esp for $10. But the strawberry taste was less sweet and more like unripe strawberries. Service is wonderful, the girl at the register was super kind and helpful, and any other time I've come it seems to be the same experience. The ambiance isn't as aesthetic if that's what you're looking for, however if you're looking for a nice place to work, it's got a really interesting set up-- tables, couches, outlets, also have a nice patios for nicer days. Only issue is parking. The space is in a rented out office so parking can be a little rough, but if you're not in a rush, I'm sure some patience will do you well (; read more

Probably one of the worst coffee shops I've tried. Given it two chances now, and disappointed both times. I got this Caesar wrap (expecting chicken inside due to the price) and an iced mocha latte. The latte tasted like nothing, watered down and nothing enjoyable, went straight to the trash. The Caesar wrap had massive and I mean MASSIVE chunks of sourdough bread that was toasted and I cut up my mouth a few times. In addition to that, some iceberg lettuce and globs of ranch, that's all. My total came out to $24 if you can believe that. Total waste of money. The first time I came here, I asked for my pastry to be toasted and they stated they don't toast there. read more

Located in Tustin next to the Parlor, order inside at a small counter then seating is provided with both tables and chairs or couches in a large warehouse type setting with indoor and outdoor spaces - have seen people bring work/journals to hang out for that kind of vibe. There is a cold case with deli like options such as soups and pre-made salads. There is also a wide variety of baked goods made without refined sugar and a 200 year old starter - lots of freshly baked bread you can take home with you. We got a breakfast bagel sandwhich which was divine - truly the bread is exquisite and the food, although pricey, is quality. read more

Parking was terrible, seems like it was mostly employee parking for the building. We had to park across the street. I got the morning sugar latte which was terrible. Lastly, I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese which was also disgusting, additionally I was covered in sesame seeds which was annoying. read more

After a friend recommended Rye Goods a year ago, I've been coming here for pastries and sour dough loaf. Very glad they decided to open one in Tustin which is only 6 minutes away from me! It's hidden in the offices area on Redhill and the entrance in the back of the parking lot. I came on a Saturday morning during the soft opening where the line was way too long, so I decided to come back another day...Which I came on a Wednesday morning a week later and there was no line at all! First of all, LOVE the interior design and the seating area at this location. Second, I'm not sure if they raised the price at both locations but they are now much pricier. To be honest, I was surprised by how much their current pastry cost. I bought 3 items (a slice of almond marzipan cake, a morning bun, and a specialty croissant) and each of them was almost $8, the total was around $25. I believe they used to be around $3-5?? Almond Marzipan - Very yummy, not overly sweet nor dry. The cake itself was moist and just enough almond flavor so it was not overpowering. Morning Bun - Very flaky and has a fruity taste within the swirls which I'm guessing it's cinnamon apple jam but I think I preferred it without the apple part...It was a bit too rich after I finished the whole bun. Specialty Croissant - Thought it was like a cinnamon twist croissant but no cinnamon at all. I think it was sprinkled with brown sugar and was very simple but flavorful. I've always loved their croissants, flaky and not overly greasy nor too sweet. Just the right balance of the texture and flavors. Overall, their pastry deserves 5 stars but I'm just still adjusting to this new pricing. read more

A wonderful organic sourdough bakery in the Tustin area. Artisanal bread and pastries are what we really needed in Tustin, especially new Legacy area. I am glad to be living within walking distance to the bakery shop. Love their rotating seasonal treats: recent chocolate tarts were top-notch! They serve and sell organic Canyon coffee; and almond milk latte is my all-time favourite. If I am super hungry for nutritious and filling breakfast or brunch, bagel egg sandwich and seasonal quiche are my winners. Baristas Mags and Jade always make it a pleasurable experience to dine in. Not a good lunch break spot if your tryna get back in time. I love the food, staff and lattes here, but the front is severely understaffed.
