Rye Goods is a bakery/cafe located in a business park next to Tustin Legacy. There aren't many businesses nearby, allowing for a large space and ample parking. I came on a Saturday morning, and they seemed to be severely unprepared for the morning rush. There is only one cashier and one person helping to prepare drinks. There were about 10 people in front of me in line, and the line moved sooo slow. It took over 20 minutes to get through the line, as it took so long to service each person. I was not a fan of the coffee, as it was too bitter for my liking, and they did not offer alternative options. The space itself is clean, aesthetic and perfect for working/studying. Overall, I would come back since it's such a nice space, but I would lower my expectations for drinks and service. read more

I'm so happy I found this spot, the staff was friendly and the location is huge to lounge or sit down and enjoy your meal or drink. I got the blueberry matcha I would say it is top three favorite for its earthy taste. The blueberry added sweetness but not too much. I do think a soft top or cold foam would perfect this drink. But still a solid 8.5-9 out of 10 The bagel was delicious and thick but chewy in the best way. It comes with loads of cream cheese so you can always remove some or ask for light I guess. The whole bagel itself was too big for me to finish. I'd definitely split a sandwich with a friend if I ever tried one. Got the jalapeño cheddar sourdough bagel with chive cream cheese and a jasmine vanilla latte! I wasn't initially going to get any food but the bagel was huge and really caught my eye! First of all I'm so glad there's finally a Rye Goods closer to me and I don't have to deal with Newport or Laguna parking. Second oh my god that gruyère and cream cheese croissant was life changing. I love a good savory breakfast treat and this definitely hit the spot (couldn't even get a good pic before it was demolished). We got the maple rosemary latte and jasmine vanilla latte as well which were pretty good. Jasmine vanilla was definitely a bit sweeter so I personally liked the rosemary one a bit more. The bagel itself was really tough and didn't have that chewiness - definitely not worth the price and even without the price, not good imo. Stopped in today for a late breakfast for the first time. There was plenty of parking. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a yuzu lavender lemonade. They forgot about the lemonade. After asking twice they made it. The burrito was a nice size. Unfortunately they didn't add cheese. I did ask the the cilantro crema on the side which was really good. Rye Goods is seriously a hidden gem. I'm obsessed with this place. My boyfriend first discovered it, and he called me right away and said I would love this place. Boy was he right! We've already been together a couple times and have so far tried their bagel and cream cheese, egg bagel sammy, and ginger scone and they all tasted amazing. We also get their iced vanilla oat milk latte which is honestly one of the best lattes I've ever had. The quality is better than other coffee shops around the area. I love that they make their own bread in house. We've been taking home their sesame sourdough breads and using it to make avocado toasts and sandwiches with them! Super delicious!! We're so lucky that we live down the street, so we can just walk there in the mornings for breakfast and coffee. There's a lot of seating too including some in their outdoor patio. A super popular bakery, Rye Goods has locations in Tustin, Costa Mesa, and Laguna. The massive indoor-outdoor space was full by lunch, which I was shocked by; it seems like a popular coworking space. We had the sun-dried tomato bagel sammy and the eggs Provence. While not outstanding, you can definitely taste the quality of the breads. The baguette and bagel were both fresh and flavorful. To finish, we got a croissant with flavors of almond, cardamom, and orange; like an elevated almond croissant. Excited to come back and try new things! read more

Everything I've had from Rye has tasted good and has clean ingredients. I just had a strawberry matcha and it was delicious. The workers are always friendly. I visited Rye Good's Tustin location on a Saturday afternoon. The large parking lot made parking hassle-free. When you enter through the main doors, you walk into a room where they have their pastries displayed & this is where you order. Then, there's another set of doors that lead you to a very spacious area with plenty of seating options both indoor & outdoor. Note that if you ordered a drink, you pick it up from a side window but they bring you your food orders otherwise. My friend & I shared the rye scramble & egg provence. We really liked both of the dishes, but my favorite would have to be the egg provence. I also got a matcha latte with their morning sugar syrup--I liked it but nothing I'd write home about. Rye Goods was the perfect spot to catch up with a friend & get some work done. Planning to visit their Newport & Laguna Beach location soon! ps. There was nothing great about my first experience dining at Rye Goods. I ordered an avocado toast, the first item on their menu, for $16 and had it to-go. During the 20+ minutes I was waiting for an avocado toast to be made, with five employees visible in the kitchen and who were really enjoying themselves, there were only a handful of additional customers placing new orders, and maybe another handful of customers who had ordered before me. When my order finally came to where I was sitting, because they told me to wait where they have tables and chairs, the employee brought my avocado on a plate. I told her I ordered it to-go and she went back in to get it in a box. A few minutes later, she comes out with a plate of someone else's food but not my takeout box. She said my food will be right out. I wait around for another 5 minutes or so and they finally just hand me the box without really feeling bad about making me wait about 30 minutes to get an avocado toast to-go. Honestly, the staff here are all young, fun-seeking, and not very customer service oriented. I take my to-go order of avocado toast and eat it at the tables outside, but the food really sucks! There's literally two whole avocados for one avocado toast, like who even eats two whole avocados in one sitting? The bread is so thick it's gross. The combination of dill and mint and some weird seeds or grains was utterly disgusting. It was literally like pig feed. I called it as a sunk cost of $16 and over 30 minutes of my life and spared myself from trying to eat the mush and calories that they call avocado toast at Rye Goods. I will never be back. They do close pretty early. The cashier was very friendly and gave a good recommendation! What I ordered: -chocolate cookie: I got this based off of the cashier's recommendation and it was really good! She pitched it as a brownie cookie and it totally was, but I was expecting it to be a bit sweeter. It was soft and a bit chewy and there was a hint of saltiness to it that made for a nice contrast. I do wish it was a bit sweeter though. -strawberry matcha latte: Unfortunately, this was a total miss for me. It tasted so watered down! There was virtually no matcha nor strawberry flavor. I basically paid about $9.50 for water! So disappointing! Maybe it's because they were already about to close? Maybe it's because I got almond milk? But I've definitely gotten lattes with almond milk before that had at least some flavor so I have no clue what happened here! I cannot believe that they served this and how expensive it was. I'm so sad because this place had such nice vibes, friendly service, yummy looking food, and totally seemed up my alley! The matcha latte is a total no for me. A wonderful bakery located in Tustin! I have been to the Laguna location before, so this one felt in an odd location (in a business center), however the food was delicious and fresh! The area has plenty of free parking, and seating is a wide open area with your choice of tables, chairs, couches, indoor and outdoor. I ordered the Avocado Toast and it was delicious! The list of ingredients on the menu seems like a lot, and that they would be piled on top, but it was not too much at all. Really, the only topping that made a noticeable flavor difference to me were the kumquats. Actually, comparing the menu to my photo, it looks like they forgot to add the tomatoes to my toast :/ (I purposely asked for no cheese). Aside from the toast, I also purchased bread and their packaged granola ($11) to-go. The real stand-outs at the shop are the bread and pastries! Let me start off with the service is awful. The staff acts like you're putting them out for absolutely anything you ask. There are no substitutions so don't bother asking even if you don't want your mouth burned off by the many spicy things that they seem to think vegetarians enjoy. It's almost like they think vegetarians don't like vegetables or eggs or bread cause you can't taste them once your mouth is on fire with the hot sauce as they add. Don't ask for sugar they don't have any with your coffee, but you can have some agave syrup and a little terrene on the side but when you ask, you will get a dirty look. Speaking of dirty, the place is very clean and well kept by the custodial staff so that is a plus. The food that is not spicy is delicious. I am one of those people who take off spicy sauces. My friend was not so lucky. Yeah I am a vegetarian who loves the taste of my food. I don't think I'll return, which is sad for me because I did like a lot of of the bakery items, when they don't run out of them by 1 PM, and also I like the principle of having good healthy food. It might also be sad for them because between soup and two breakfast and six cookies I paid over $100. (this is of course, including the tip that I included automatically because I always tip servers regardless of service because I feel that's what's expected and appropriate) And I also think it's appropriate to warn others. If you come here get food to go, maybe even order online or better yet maybe ask DoorDash to do it for you so you don't have to interact with the staff at all. The decorations are subtle and give off rustic yet chic vibes, which allows one to feel relaxed. For food, I am a creature of habit and always have to get the same thing. That being said, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Sundried Tomato Sammy on a plain bagel toasted and pair it with an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, half sweet. Each time I get it, the quality is always good. The flavors in that Sammy are to die for, and I'm not even the biggest fan of tomatoes. My lattes are always made perfectly, never too sweet and just goes down smoothly. Early Saturday mornings are a perfect time to visit this spot because the vibes are nice and calming. There's also no wait time if you come early and everything is stocked up. My friends and I always go around the same time so we tend to see the same workers and their service is always 10/10.
