The bagel itself was really tough and didn't have that chewiness - definitely not worth the price and even without the price, not good imo. Location is nice with plenty of seating and parking (it was almost empty on a Sunday at 10 AM) As for the service, I had seen reviews about bad service but my experience was fine. Except the girl had no idea what any of the items on the menu were. There were 2-3 people working at 9 am and not a lot of customers so no wait at all! Food/Drinks: roughly $6-7 each item - Iced vanilla latte 0/5: coffee is so acidic and not enough vanilla flavoring. I only took 5 sips and ended up tossing the rest. -Jasmine Matcha latte 1/5: not as bad as the latte but is bland in flavor. Don't expect a grassy or strong matcha flavor! -Garlic Croissant 1/5: HUGE! But size doesn't always matter because it was lacking in flavor and was a bit stale. I visited Rye Good's Tustin location on a Saturday afternoon. The large parking lot made parking hassle-free. When you enter through the main doors, you walk into a room where they have their pastries displayed & this is where you order. Then, there's another set of doors that lead you to a very spacious area with plenty of seating options both indoor & outdoor. Note that if you ordered a drink, you pick it up from a side window but they bring you your food orders otherwise. My friend & I shared the rye scramble & egg provence. We really liked both of the dishes, but my favorite would have to be the egg provence. I also got a matcha latte with their morning sugar syrup--I liked it but nothing I'd write home about. Idk why this place has low stars I love coming here. There's so much seating inside and even outside to enjoy the sun. Parking is very easy. Everything I've had from Rye has tasted good and has clean ingredients. I just had a strawberry matcha and it was delicious. The workers are always friendly. Rye Goods is seriously a hidden gem. I'm obsessed with this place. My boyfriend first discovered it, and he called me right away and said I would love this place. Boy was he right! We've already been together a couple times and have so far tried their bagel and cream cheese, egg bagel sammy, and ginger scone and they all tasted amazing. We also get their iced vanilla oat milk latte which is honestly one of the best lattes I've ever had. The quality is better than other coffee shops around the area. I love that they make their own bread in house. We've been taking home their sesame sourdough breads and using it to make avocado toasts and sandwiches with them! Super delicious!! We're so lucky that we live down the street, so we can just walk there in the mornings for breakfast and coffee. There's a lot of seating too including some in their outdoor patio. There was nothing great about my first experience dining at Rye Goods. I ordered an avocado toast, the first item on their menu, for $16 and had it to-go. During the 20+ minutes I was waiting for an avocado toast to be made, with five employees visible in the kitchen and who were really enjoying themselves, there were only a handful of additional customers placing new orders, and maybe another handful of customers who had ordered before me. When my order finally came to where I was sitting, because they told me to wait where they have tables and chairs, the employee brought my avocado on a plate. I told her I ordered it to-go and she went back in to get it in a box. A few minutes later, she comes out with a plate of someone else's food but not my takeout box. She said my food will be right out. I wait around for another 5 minutes or so and they finally just hand me the box without really feeling bad about making me wait about 30 minutes to get an avocado toast to-go. Honestly, the staff here are all young, fun-seeking, and not very customer service oriented. I take my to-go order of avocado toast and eat it at the tables outside, but the food really sucks! There's literally two whole avocados for one avocado toast, like who even eats two whole avocados in one sitting? The bread is so thick it's gross. The combination of dill and mint and some weird seeds or grains was utterly disgusting. It was literally like pig feed. She pitched it as a brownie cookie and it totally was, but I was expecting it to be a bit sweeter. It was soft and a bit chewy and there was a hint of saltiness to it that made for a nice contrast. I do wish it was a bit sweeter though. -strawberry matcha latte: Unfortunately, this was a total miss for me. It tasted so watered down! There was virtually no matcha nor strawberry flavor. I basically paid about $9.50 for water! So disappointing! Maybe it's because they were already about to close? Maybe it's because I got almond milk? But I've definitely gotten lattes with almond milk before that had at least some flavor so I have no clue what happened here! I cannot believe that they served this and how expensive it was. The decorations are subtle and give off rustic yet chic vibes, which allows one to feel relaxed. For food, I am a creature of habit and always have to get the same thing. That being said, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Sundried Tomato Sammy on a plain bagel toasted and pair it with an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, half sweet. Each time I get it, the quality is always good. The flavors in that Sammy are to die for, and I'm not even the biggest fan of tomatoes. My lattes are always made perfectly, never too sweet and just goes down smoothly. Early Saturday mornings are a perfect time to visit this spot because the vibes are nice and calming. A wonderful bakery located in Tustin! I have been to the Laguna location before, so this one felt in an odd location (in a business center), however the food was delicious and fresh! The area has plenty of free parking, and seating is a wide open area with your choice of tables, chairs, couches, indoor and outdoor. I ordered the Avocado Toast and it was delicious! The list of ingredients on the menu seems like a lot, and that they would be piled on top, but it was not too much at all. Really, the only topping that made a noticeable flavor difference to me were the kumquats. Actually, comparing the menu to my photo, it looks like they forgot to add the tomatoes to my toast :/ (I purposely asked for no cheese). Aside from the toast, I also purchased bread and their packaged granola ($11) to-go. The real stand-outs at the shop are the bread and pastries! We decided on the rye pretzel (duh), the chocolate coffee croissant, and the vegan tea cake (today's flavor was blueberry almond). I also got a London fog to pair with our goodies. Unfortunately, it was so scalding hot and overflowing I could barely open the lid without spilling so that was a bit of a letdown. I also do agree that it would have elevated the experience even more to have the pastries warmed a bit. The space itself was super cool and to be honest I will probably come back to check it out for a work from "home" day; there's tons of table and lounge space so there's definitely a lot of potential here (agree with other reviews that some music would go a long way). It was pretty pricey though, our three items and tea came out to $45. The standout for me was the tea cake, so moist and sweet. But the chocolate coffee croissant was a little light on the coffee flavor? And the rye pretzel was tasty but nothing extraordinary, especially since it was a little cold. I usually drink my coffee black so the flavoring was a little sweet for my liking but had a really nice flavor. My friends also got the same flavor and wasn't too sweet. I also had the donut which is an apple flavor at the moment. I grabbed a coffee on my way to something in the area at 10am on a Saturday and they were fully stocked with baked goods. Inside, there is Rye Goods, and across is another food shop it looked like pizza? But I'm not sure. The dining area is wide and spacious, plenty of room to study or work on anything where you need a quiet area to do so. It didn't seem overly loud inside and I can see why people enjoy going there to focus on work. Onto the food. My friend actually arrived first and ordered for me, so I didn't really get to experience inside the shop or the service. But once you place and pay for your order, your number is called and you just pick up the items in the order they come out. I ordered the Egg Bagel Sammy and an Iced Oolong Chai. Oh. My. Gosh. Let me tell you - although the Sammy was *very messy* upon biting into it haha - it was most delicious. Also, the chai did not disappoint. Google directions brought me to the wrong side of the building, it faces away from Red Hill Ave. Immediately when I walked into Rye Goods, I was mesmerized by everything they have to offer. I decided on the coffee cake, the chocolate chip cookie and after speaking to the friendly barista, Jade, I decided to have their in-house made maple rosemary latte. No regrets here! Out of all the cafes I visited, I want to say Rye Goods' chocolate chip cookie is top 5 for me. I also learned that they make other in-house syrups - morning sugar, mocha and vanilla.
