Food was a 4/5, service a 2/5.. We had a party of six and we're seated in an alcove off the main dining room. After waiting for 15 minutes, a member of my party got up to ask if someone would be around to take our order. There were FOUR people standing and chatting at the hostess station. When our server came, she had RBF of the ages. We went to Rye for the first time this past Saturday night. Had reservations thank goodness because it was packed. Very unique decor. Our waiter was great, even offered us complimentary champagne being our anniversary. That was awesome. Oysters were great. Menu is a bit limited for my tastes (we live in Green Bay and Plae Bistro, Chef Fusion, Bleu, and Chives are our go to upscale restaraunts we love). My husband liked his ribeye, i had the french onion soup which was very good, and the crab cakes. They were ok, but very small and not what I was expecting. I was hoping for the scallops that I read reviews on, but they weren't on the menu. All in all, it was a nice evening and we would go back. read more

A little gem tucked in downtown. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last week. I had the Wagu from the specials menu while she had the bone in Duroc pork chop. Both were perfectly prepared. One of my favorite places in the Appleton area! I've eaten here in person a couple of times pre-COVID, and have done takeout from them quite a few times. When dining in, staff was always super friendly and helpful, whether sitting at the bar or at a table. The food is always delicious, whatever type of risotto they're offering is hard to pass up. Every time I eat there it's hard to choose what to eat! Dining in the drinks were always good as well. Carryout during COVID has been great-you can order online and set a pick-up time, then just pull up in front. You can have them bring it out or run in to get it. One thing I appreciate is that even with takeout they try to keep the presentation-some of their dishes have fun decorations of sauces, etc., and they do try to capture that even in the takeout containers, which helps make the dish even more enjoyable. Prices are a little high (though I live in Chicago so the sticker shock isn't too bad for me), but it's worth it. This is higher-end food, and higher end presentation, and it's great. I dined at Rye on a Saturday. We had a reservation for the side room and showed up early. We were swiftly seated. The increase in the main bar and restaurant was very strong in the side room it was less pungent. We ordered drinks and cheese curds to start. The cheese curds were light and flavorful. The dipping sauce was amazing! We both ordered the butternut squash ravioli and devoured all of it!! For dessert we chose the crème brûlée. It was good but beware of the mini biscuits they are hard as rock. Overall pleasant dining experience! Unfortunately the table next to us FaceTimed a friend loudly throughout dinner. The food is ok, but the ambiance and service are not worth the price. I got a lovely view of the lobby, as we were basically sitting in it, and all of the people were going to the hotel elevator between us and the main restaurant. I asked the waitress what kind of vodka they had, and it was like a game show guessing game. Went to Rye for the first time tonight and was SO impressed! SAFETY: outdoor seating available but due to the heat we chose to dine inside. All tables were 6 feet apart and all staff wore masks. Paper menu's provided. Do wish they had an option for menus via a QR code on the table ATMOSPHERE of the restaurant was exceptional FOOD: so good! Started with cheese curds and "beach fired" oysters. The oysters were SO SO good. They came on a platter of wood chips with a small flame still burning in the middle to finish smoking them. Absolutely delicious. Entrees were the salmon and scallops with pork belly. The scallops fish was delicious and the smoked baby red potatoes that came with the salmon dish were mouth watering. SERVICE was great. Stayed at the Copperleaf and immediately knew this is where I wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday. I didn't realized the show was in town and only made reservations earlier in the week. The bartender was smoking making many fancy cocktails that everyone looked like they fully enjoyed. It was full in the dining room. Luckily the bar offers dining service too. The food was good. I had two appetizers. First, beautiful shrimp in a yummy sauce with toasted ciabatta...tasty. The arugula salad with goats cheese, beets and toasted sweet nuts. It was good; although, sweeter than I like. The desert was fun. You could buy a beer for all the crew; I did! I had the tiramisu which was ok, but the crust was not very crusty and it was very thick. It was on the "tonight's featured menu" and it was a huge success. I love calamari and rarely when I order eat the entire order...with this I could have "licked the plate clean". Ordered the expensive scallop dinner which had an amazing presentation, but the scallops were way overcooked. To be one of their signature specials and have the chef not know how to cook a scallop was very disappointing. The atmosphere was beautiful, but very noisy. Never had a bad meal here but staff and atmosphere need real help. Wednesday 7/20/2022 6pm reservations. Promptly greeted and seated.Too dark to read the menu. (Three tables near us also used the flashlight on their phone)To make matters worse we had one person at our table facing the front of the restaurant and the bright light was blinding him. No shade on the window to draw down. Waiter did not care. Music is not fine dining and too loud. (50's Hound Dog Elvis, and Animal House Shout we're the first two songs and it continued) This is advertised as a fine dining establishment based on food, drinks and prices, unfortunately some people think shorts and a T-shirt are acceptable anywhere. Wish this place (and others) had a dress code. We like to dress up and celebrate when we go out for an occasion. This isn't a pancake house - which I also love and wear shorts and a T-shirt to when I go - but Rye is labeled as fine dining. Atmosphere was nice upon entry (6pm weeknight) but by 7:25pm the conversations were so noisy it was way too much. Food: Stuffed Date small plate, quantity 4 exactly as described. Marinara spiced sauce under the dates also very tasty. Whiskey Shrimp small plate had a wonderful garlic herb tomato sauce - addictive- sopped it up with the bread! Pork chops with carrots - tender and delicious! Salmon - perfectly cooked and awesome sauce. Brussels sprouts were cook thru and charred on the outside. Burger - great! Hint of heat with the jalapeños but the jerk sauce makes it fabulous. Pink as ordered. Ravioli with the arugula on the side. More al dente then I like but delicious sauce and filling. Waiter Shane knew the menu very well. He initially was attentive but once entrees were served and tables started filling we were forgotten. He walked by and asked if everything was ok but was past the table before we could respond and looked over his shoulder as one of us said "tastes good!" Also Shane never came back for more drinks (which were empty when others dropped off the entrees and took off) and our empty bar glasses sat on the table the whole time we ate our entrees with our water. Sad because we were going to order more. Between the noise and the poor service follow thru, we decided to skip desert here and try somewhere else on our way home. Been here a couple times. Rye is a restaurant located in the Copperleaf Hotel. I stay at the Radisson across the street while I'm traveling for work so this place is super convenient. They have a high ceiling so it gets really loud in there. Items I have tried and recommend: - bacon wrapped dates ( you get four... so it's enough to share) - chipotle tri tip ( has a kick) - the pan seared chicken breast - most of their drinks are pretty tasty. I suggest making reservations because this place is very popular amongst the consultants. Street parking when available is free after 6pm however, if you can't find any street parking, there's a garage behind the Copperleaf and it's $2.00 without a limit. read more
