From the second we walked in, the service was wonderful. She was not only working behind the bar, but she was also waiting on the tables! Lots of people there since it was a downtown location. We started with garlic cheese curds and ranch. You could definitely tell the curds had garlic. I needed a mint afterwards but they were crispy and buttery with a nice squeaky texture. I ordered chicken strips and fries and hubby ordered the cowboy burger. He normally eats his burgers medium rare but they only cook to one temperature. Thankfully it wasn't overcooked and dry. He said the burger didn't have seasoning but had a nice beef flavor. Chicken was run of the mill frozen chicken strips. The whole meal was underwhelming (only worth two stars) but our server gave it the extra star.

I have revised my original review; I felt it was necessary. Both my friend and I stopped here for lunch because we had heard good things about their burgers. Unfortunately, both of us were very disappointed. The menu claims that the burgers are 1/3 pound, but they are maybe 1/4 at best; I would compare them more to smash patties. Both of us ordered medium burgers and they both came out well done. The burgers were low-quality frozen patties; unseasoned and flavorless. Most other places that serve good burgers in Appleton use fresh hamburgers. Apparently, this place can't be bothered, they can't afford it, or they simply don't care. Our other biggest complaint would be that they don't include a side with their burgers; fries are not very expensive and, at the very least, they should be an included side. The owner, a very mean and disrespectful woman, said most of their customers don't want a side, so they don't include a side because they don't want to waste food; let's be honest, they don't include a side because they want to charge you more money. I ordered the Beer Dip Badger burger; smashed fried cheese curds, homemade spotted cow beer dip, crispy onion strips, and a pretzel bun. The toppings I received were minimal; three very small onion strips, a few smashed cheese curds, and a sauce that tasted like store-bought thousand island dressings. I was unimpressed. The owner responded to my original review, as I'm sure she will respond to this one, and was extremely hostile and insulting. She basically told me I had no taste and that she was okay with me not being a future customer; the audacity that I would leave a review saying that I did not like my burger. How dare I. She claimed that her burgers were not your average run-of-the-mill burgers and "Look at all the toppings you received", as if toppings are what make a quality burger. I can name a dozen other burger joints in Appleton that have better burgers than the one I had here. I think she is a little full of herself. I had no plans to ever return, but after dealing with the owner, I wouldn't even consider returning. I will, however, make it a point to let everyone I know or meet in the future not to eat here. And P.S. I love Culver's. They have better burgers than this place does.

This is a restaurant we've been meaning to try for quite awhile. When you mention it to people around Appleton, it always gets a good response. We tried it out recently with some friends and enjoyed the experience. The restaurant isn't fancy. It is called a bar for good reason; as it is a bar serving some pretty tasty burgers. We found a table and we're greeted quickly by the bartender. Knowledgeable and friendly, she soon returned with our drink order. We found all of the staff to be welcoming and helpful. The drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. There are quite a few burgers to pick from; as well as a nice selection of appetizers. We had cheese curds and truffle fries. Both appetizers were sufficient in size and tasted good. I've had better of both at other restaurants; however, these were both good. My dining partner had one of the burgers, but substituted the burger for a grilled chicken breast. She enjoyed her choice. I had the Blondes Have More Fungus burger. It might not sound pleasant; but it had great flavor. The Thai peanut sauce really pulled the burger together. Overall, this was a good place to eat. If you try it, go early; as after we were seated the place got very busy. We will certainly try it again in the future.

Love all the fun burger options! I went for the dill pickle burger, it was delicious! The cheese curds were great as well. Love the vibe of the interior - it is clean and fun!

The burger options are amazing. They were so delicious. I've never seen a crab Rangoon burger before. The service was friendly and speedy. It is a typical bar atmosphere.

Date night and the quest for the best burger continues. What a delightful find. Service was exceptional! When we arrived, we were told 15 minutes for a table and 45 for food. Well, date night so...perfect. Our table was no where near 15 minutes, maybe 5 tops. AND the drink order the bartender took was placed on the table. Super fantastic. We went for burgers, and they were great! I had the Wisco Inferno, but I chickened out a bit and had the reaper ranch on the side. Outstanding flavor, and putting the sauce on the side was a great idea for me. I put just a touch of the sauce on. The burger was so satisfying. Service was wonderful. They refilled our adult beverages in a super timely manner. Overall wonderful visit. We will be back

Visited for lunch for the first time. It was a late lunch, so it was quiet and we enjoyed some delicious beer and burgers. I was unsure of which beer to order so the server offered a sample...which is always nice! My husband enjoyed the Crab Goon burger and I had the Beer Dip Badger on the recommendation of our server. We shared truffle fries, too! I'll definitely try a different burger next time as there are lots of options!

The food was delicious and the service excellent. Ordered a cowboy burger with cheese curds. Cheese curds are a must. I got the spicy one but they are not spicy I definitely liked the plain ones better. The bar tender was awesome very friendly and out going. It was a Tuesday not too busy, we got our service fast. I also tried their local cider: Loon Juice Pear cider. It was delicious! Highly recommend this location

Beer Dip Badger with tots and Crab Goon burger with fries. Kona Big Wave and a Cranberry Carbliss to wash down.

Perfect place to pop in for a late lunch after walking in downtown Appleton. Our server was attentive and always around for refills. Wonderfully polite conversation, she didn't linger nor were we left searching for her. Ranges of patrons range from small kids to middle aged adults. The seating is limited and the space overall is narrow. Maybe not the best place to bring the family due to size and seating options, however restaurant is kid-friendly. I selected the Crab Goon burger with fries. Fresh crispy fries that were lightly salted. We did have to order our sides separately; the ketchup was not Heinz. Price was a little steep for the portions, but the homemade crab rangoon dip made up for the price.

Best cheese cards I've had yet in Wisconsin. The burgers were great. Service was great. We'll be back.

One of our party forgot his ID and although everyone, including the waiter, agreed he was clearly of age, it's a house rule apparently that ID must be present. No big deal. Rest of our drinks arrive and we let him have a sip to try because the cocktails were decent. The waiter saw and screamed at him before waddling away to tattle on us to the manager. The other staff stared in horror but also in a way that said this wasn't the first time this guy lost it. Even the manager looked so embarrassed he had to deal with it. Manager started to say he would let us stay when the waiter screamed no and yanked our card from us. It was so pathetic watching a grown man in his 40s throw a huge tantrum. Manager intervened by taking the card away from the waiter and comped everything we had ordered while the waiter was pouting and sulking next to him. We suspect the waiter was homophobic because the reaction was so absurd and unnecessary that it has to be either homophobia and/or a mental health problem. Our friends swear their city is lovely but also acknowledge what happened could have been hate-motivated and they're sad that this just reinforced what many people think about small town Wisconsin. We went to a nearby establishment where we were treated like humans (and they served us clearly upper 30s men without having to check our IDs). On the plus side, we tip very well and are glad this waiter is not going home with an extra $100. Hopefully this restaurant knows what they need to do with this unstable staff member for the safety and comfort of their diners and other staff.

They have an upstairs tap room, an arcade, and a bar and restaurant downstairs. The service was all-around incredible. The employees were warm, friendly, and professional, and they seemed to know exactly how often to check in without interrupting our meal. They spaced out our drinks, appetizers, and entrees just the right amount. Our server Andrew was particularly great. We had a soda flight of their craft sodas for a super super reasonable price, and every single soda was spectacular. We're spoiled in the craft soda department by virtue of living in Wisconsin (Sprecher, Potosi, etc), but this was definitely the best craft soda we've had. Even the wacky flavors like blue raspberry were rich and flavorful--they didn't taste overwhelmingly artificial. I cannot recommend their soda enough, although I imagine their craft beer is pretty good too! We also had a delicious mocktail, which always goes a long ways in impressing us. All of our food was reasonably priced and so, so, fresh and delicious. The Bavarian pretzel with the beer cheese was heavenly!! We loved our entrees as well. Even something simple like the fries were perfectly done--fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. Everything we had their was top notch, and despite the number of things we ordered, our bill was not very high at all (about $50 for a mocktail, a craft soda flight and a soda pint, an appetizer and two entrees.

My experience this time around was a little bit more of a let down hence why I had to take one star off. When I went few months ago, I had burnt coffee which I chalked it up as a one time error. But it happened again with this visit, so that told me they don't really pay much attention to their coffee yet they have a whole menu dedicated to coffee. I also made a reservation on a Sunday knowing it fills up quick and that it might be hard to get a table, however, it was an hour and half before they close which means they tend to slow down around that time. Also, when making a reservation, it'll ask you if you want bar, dining area or patio. I chose dining area. Yet they called me an half hour before to see if I wanted to sit at the bar, which I told them twice in person I do not want to, and as a result the hostess gave me the annoyed/judgmental look down when I wasn't looking. As someone who has owned a family restaurant business for 30 years, that's a big no-no in terms of customer service. It's just rude and unnecessary. Also, they kind of really try to get customers out by 2, which is when they close. By standard at most restaurants, they need an extra hour after closing for customers to take their time with their meals rather than rushing through it, especially if you will sit them 20 minutes before closing time. I felt rushed, and I don't like that feeling at a place I'm trying to enjoy my meal. Would I come back here? Absolutely yes because their food is really the best for brunch in the area and it's cleaner. It just shouldn't be an excuse with certain things like what I mentioned above. P.S. if chicken and waffles happens to be one of the specials, get it. It's by far the best dish I've ever tried there and also my top 3 chicken & waffles that I've tried anywhere. SO GOOD!
