The customer service was horrible they kept cursing when they were right in front of us. I'm floored. This is what a Burger Bar should be. It's a small bar setting with a tiny kitchen pushing out really good food that you can tell they care about. The best sweet potato fries I've ever had, a French onion burger that hit all the right notes. Also the serving size was just right, I'm satisfied but don't feel like a slob. The cherry on the top is the bar tenders knowledge on the beer available and their bubbly demeanor. This will be a staple any time I'm in Appleton. Hats off. read more

Just to preface, this review is about the service moreso than the food. Being that my family is fairly new to the area, I wanted to try something local and close to the children's museum that wasn't Culvers or McDonald's. My family and I stopped in around lunchtime one Saturday afternoon fairly recently and my in-laws arrived just before we did and secured a table. We were greeted fairly quickly and had our drink orders taken. Drinks came out fast and our food order was taken at that time. Sadly that's where the quickness ended. After ordering for our table of 6 (including my 3yr old son) it literally took nearly 1.5 hours to receive our food. After waiting for about an hour, we inquired about our order and we were told, and I quote, "There were a few other burgers ahead of yours and our grill is only "this big". We then asked to at least bring our our son's chicken tenders and fries while we wait for our burgers before my son looses his you know what. 15-30 minutes later, his order comes out followed by our burgers about 15 minutes after that. I'm sorry, but if you guys get that busy on a regular basis, maybe get a bigger grill? As for the food, it was nothing short of outstanding. I won't get into details about what we ordered, but no matter how great it was, it wasn't worth the wait we endured. Moral of the story is get there early, like maybe 10:30am for a party of more than two if you want to eat before 12:30pm. We'd certainly go back, but probably without our son. We're always on borrowed time between lunch and naptime and anyone with kids understands that. Update: Mandy (owner?) reached out to me and will be making it right by me and my family. Was in town getting the kiddo set up for her freshman year at Lawrence University, which is just down the street from this awesome Burger Spot. We came in and sat by the window, was early dinner time (maybe about 5:00) on a Wednesday, not busy at all. Our waitress, Lisa, came Over right away and got our drink orders, great beer selection, looks like they have a good liquor selection and some tasty sounding cocktails, but we didn't try any (this time). For food we ordered the bacon burger with tots, and a deluxe bacon burger with cheese curds. Order came out in about th time you'd expect for made to order food. Holy Cow!!! So delicious, sides were hot and amazing. Tots were larger than ones I've gotten before, super crispy and tasty. Curds were incredible, I don't have much experience or comparison with fired curds, but man, these were sooo tasty!!! The burgers were so yummy. Cooked well, but still super juicy and tender. Seasoned well but it overpowering. Bacon was crispy and delicious. My veggies were fresh and crispy. Bun was soft but still managed to soak up all the juices. 10 out of 10 for sure! Such a great burger bar! We stopped here for a late lunch of burgers, fries, cheese curds, beer and cider and were very pleased! The food was great and there was a wide variety of drinks - beer, wine, fun shots (try the Hawaiian Hooker) and boozy milkshakes. Also had cider and seltzer if you're gluten free. The burger selection is fabulous and there are lots of fun unique options. There are great sides as well! My new favorite burger place in the Fox Cities. Lived here 40 years and finally a great burger joint. Servers were friendly and working hard, even though maybe understaffed on a Saturday evening. A++ For atmosphere this tiny little bar was so homey feeling when we entered and nestled up to the bar. They had a good beer selection on tap and I ordered a winter option. The bartender actually overfilled my glass and a bit spilled onto the bar. I ordered the "big dill" burger which had all sorts of fried and normal pickles on it with an aioli and a side of classic fries. They forgot my fries but delivered them before I was done with my burger so no harm there. The main reason for the lack of a star is that the burger patty was well done and not seasoned at all. The toppings I loved but they did not make up for the over done burger patty. In hindsight no one even asked how I wanted my burger cooked which I always like medium. With all the pictures and Yelp reviews, and my first time coming here, I wanted a burger so so bad! I didn't go there to use my mouth to eat, but to sing! A friend of mine loves going here for their karaoke and tagged along one late Saturday night. Expect to be packed in like sardines here as it's a pretty small bar and a weekend on College Ave is always busy. It was pretty packed, as your getting 8 people sitting/standing around a four person table and you clinch and hold in your drink as people try to travel from one end of the bar to the other. The service was pretty good considering there were two bartenders. They were moving back and forth and the only thing that held them up were the people that can't make a decision. For karaoke, this is a FUN bar. Even if you say you don't like singing, you'll catch yourself singing along with the rest of the bar to Sweet Caroline, or some country song about boots and bars. The DJ was very engaged, kept things flowing really well, and would sing the back up parts to some of the songs. It's always great when whoever is done singing gets high-fives and "good jobs" from everyone they walk by. Everyone is truly having fun when karaoke is going on. This is the only bar I frequent. The staff is wonderful, the food is delicious, and the entertainment is top notch. They are always adding new drink selections, and are great about supporting other local establishments when choosing beer and food products. I've never met anyone that didn't love their burgers...or truffle fries...or chicken sandwiches...or Bloody Mary's...etc. For entertainment, they have Trivia on Tuesdays, live music periodically, and karaoke on Saturdays. A great beer list and Wisconsin-friendly service accompanies options such as a crab Rangoon, PB&J or a doughnut encased burger .. to say nothing of their more traditional fare. Leave tradition behind and enjoy the great bar staff, clean surroundings and a very exotic selection that is guaranteed to make you harness your inner millennial by take a photo of the menu and your meal. I was impressed with the burger menu itself - everything from simple, traditional burgers to some more adventurous topped burgers. My wife and I both had the Backyard Burger, some Wisco cheese curds and some fried pickle chips. The burgers were well put together with fresh ingredients and the 1/3 lb burger itself was done well but lacking in a bit of flavor and there was a bit to much bun for the size of the patty. The cheese curds were very tasty as were the pickle chips. Overall, it was a good experience and we will be back for more. read more
