Let's say 4.5 stars. Quaint little drinkery!! I'm visiting and walked from hotel to this great gem of a pub. The meat goulash is enough if ordered as a bowl, especially on a cold snowy day. As a German exchange student, I highly recommend OB Brau Haus. The food is delicious and authentic. As a huge schnitzel fan, OB Brau Haus is my go-to spot for a meal; I haven't found a better schnitzel in the U.S. yet, and I've been here for 8 months now. The schnitzel actually tastes even better than in some restaurants in Germany. The beer is very good and comes very close to German beer. The bartenders/servers and the owner are all super friendly and attentive. All of my American and German friends I've taken there so far have also been really impressed. read more

A great Wisconsin experience: They make their own beer, but importantly, they've got Miller High Life too. Had to have the brats and they did not disappoint. Excellent and served with a very nice mustard. But the star of the show? The spaetzle! Basically macaroni and cheese on steroids, unbelievably good comfort food here :-) The schnitzel was highly suggested, and I heard afterwards from other people that it's excellent there too, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with that. Absolutely recommend. Food is amazing. Happy hour makes it a must for a weeknight meal. A pretzel the size of my adult head was 1/2 price because ALL appetizers and drinks (except shots) are 1/2 price from 4-6 pm. Feta meatballs were absolutely amazing. I barely ate that day we were there but after that appetizer - my hubby and I shared a schnitzel dish. We doubled on the soup and couldn't finish 1/2 of the schnitzel and spetzel we ordered. Wandered in, down from the Hilton, and thought some German beer would be good. Ordered a Dunkel, very tasty. Many options on the menu, not sure what to order and the bartender (who turns out to be the owner) suggested the Oskar. Got the goulash for the soup, and it was AMAZING. So, so good. Schnitzel came out and it is fantastic! The sauce was just right, and the loin fried and battered just perfectly. Couldn't leave without the staff recommendation of the apple streusel and I'm so glad I had it. Perfect seasoning and the apples cooked just right. The sauce is incredible. Can't recommend it more. If you want to wait 1 hour before getting your order taken and another hour to get appetizers, and yet another hour to get your food, this is the place! All because they don't "serve Microwave bullshit food, and make everything from scratch" their words not us because we decided to walk out due to lack of service and all the time just to get food. So we have become a near weekly visitor. Thoroughly impressed with this place. They sincerely try hard to run a good business and it shows in the quality of their food. e.g. your dinner salad will not contain any cheap and non-nutritious iceberg lettuce, just one minor example. They also offer various specials on a near daily basis. The establishment supports veterans and offers a 30% discount on an entire bill on Wednesdays. Wow! What an awesome deal for vets. Atmosphere: It is really dark in here. There is a small bar area right when you walk in the front. They have a front entrance and a back entrance which is nice depending on where you end up finding street parking. The host/hostess stand is right when you walk in. Service: This place is family owned and it shows, they have friendly and knowledgeable staff that know about the food. Things came out in a timely manner. Food: It was very good authentic food and we had never tasted anything in the area like it. The beer was good. The portions were decent yet we didn't have any leftovers (we did skip lunch that day in order to make sure we had enough room for our food here). Price: The only hiccup. We ordered 2 beers total, 2 entrees, and split a dessert and the bill was $72 before tip. Luckily we had a groupon so we saved a few dollars off of that, but I can think of quite a few places where we can order 4 drinks, 2 entrees, and an app or dessert to split and pay around the $50 mark. Great selection of German inspired food you won't find at many restaurants and brew pubs. The whole "German inspired food + late night dance club" is a little strange, and if you sit in back be prepared to eat in the dark. Our table got various versions of the pork Schnitzel and all were very good. The "tar tar" is more or less mini cannibal sandwiches, but were good either way. If you are into spaetzle, try their "spaetzle with cheese" and you'll mistake it for just good mac and cheese. The service was great. I plan on returning. read more

So it took us a while longer to get back to this restaurant than we had hoped, but we weren't disappointed! We tried the curry wurst this time, and it was so delicious. The brats were tender and juicy, and not your typical coarse-ground brats that you cook on the grill. And the curry sauce was still amazing. The Reuben soup, with just a light touch of cream to the broth and plenty of bite from the sauerkraut, was perfect. I had the rahm schnitzel again, and it was as good as the last time. My wife had the meatballs with a cream sauce over spaetzle: a combination of pork and beef that produced a tender and flavorful result. Our server, Michelle, was as friendly and helpful and accommodating as the last time we were there when she was our server as well. We also had a nice chat with the manager/owner, Chris, as he was making his rounds at all of the tables to see that everyone was enjoying their experience at the restaurant. Wow! This place has amazing food we got the sampler and EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! The schnitzel was out of this world, we travel a lot for business and eat out often, imma pretty picky eater and will readily return things if I don't feel its up to par. This place exceeded my expectations, the service was great the lady was very caring (about my toddler) and the prices were very reasonable. Dark, uninviting and noisy. We stopped in here for dinner and asked for a table in the dining room. The host offered us a small high top table at the edge of the bar area in front of the dining room which appeared to be empty. The dimly lit room was loud with only a couple of people at the bar. After glancing at the menu we quickly realized that our experience would only go downhill from here given the environment, surrounding noise and mediocre service at best. I was excited to try this restaurant but very disappointed in the experience. In general the food was mediocre. Mom ordered two appetizers. The hockey puck looking one is a baked Brie with Lingonberries. Compared to the amount Brie the lingonberries were sparse and lacked anything on which to eat it like toast points. When we asked for more berries, we were informed that more berries would be $5. The other appetizer was Feta Cheese Meatballs. Really they were deep fried meatballs with a square of cold feta on top and a bland cream sauce for dipping. Four other dishes were fish, three haddock and a perch. The last dish was Goulash that lacked flavor and the sauerkraut that was supposed to be a key ingredient. Glad to have tried it, won't go back. read more

OB... how I love thee... ESPECIALLY during happy hour which is between 4-6PM Tuesday - Thursday. I've been at OBs several times now. Their happy hour is even better now, they have added a few more items to their happy hour menu and all of them are half price. Wahhh??!!? I don't believe (in a Chinese accent). It's true... believe it. My favorite is still the wild pork shank. They braised oh so perfectly that they fall off the bone. At $5.50 for two, yes please.... In addition to the appetizers, their drinks are ALSO half off. Madison is a wonderful bartender.... she's super sweet and very attentive. We've been wanting to try ob's for a while as I've heard good things. It's a bit confusing, as I always just thought it was a club (it is late night.) The food was amazing. German style, think Mader's if you're Milwaukee. Schnitzel is... I was floored, amazing. Just one of those places where you won't get anything like it around here. Walked in and immediately was welcomed by Frank one of the owners. His customer service and help with the menu was top notch. Everything that was recommended by him was delicious. This was my first schnitzel experience and man was it good!!! And to top it off we had the Apple streusel for desert, very solid desert. The only real downfall was the lack of a German ambiance inside the restaurant (because it flips to a nightclub on the weekends). The menu wasn't extensive but was a good selection of most things German (it's all German). Beer selection also isn't large but what's on tap is all German and all good and served in liter mugs (very German). Food was delicious, large portioned, moderately priced, and presented well. Our service was the best we've had at any restaurant for some time. Informative, pleasant, attentive, polite, etc., etc. She explained the menu, made recommendations, always had a smile on her face, and did everything in her ability to ensure our dining experience was positive.
