Bar 430 is such a fun spot to get quality cocktails! The servers are above and beyond and were attentive and friendly. Bar 430 is up there for one of the best espresso martinis with the rich espresso flavor, very foamy and smooth. The peach hot honey marg was my favorite marg, the perfect amount of spice without a kick in the back of your throat. The spicy marg is a good go to but if you want it spicier I recommend asking for an extra jalapeños. The margarita pizza was delicious and easy to share. Definitely give this place a try! We originally went here because my mom is gluten free but we were surprised by the sheer amount of variety they had between cuisines. We were able to sit outside and still had exceptional service while enjoying the nice weather! The restaurant peaked my friends interest due to the number of gluten free options. We went on a Saturday just as the farmers market was ending. The restaurant was busy, which I get but the sitting feels jam packed and uncomfortable. Stuffy and hot too. They only offered a brunch menu at the time we were there. Not much to pick from. The loaded potatoes was very sad looking. Flat, hardly any toppings and just boring for the price. The breakfast tacos also looked sad. Visually unappealing and tasted ok. My breakfast sandwich was pretty good. Our server seemed stoned but I think it is hard to find good servers these days. Very chic environment for being a small space. Great location downtown on main street. During the summer they open the garage door they have in the front for a nice breeze. They also put out tables with umbrellas during the summer out front. They have parking on the main street and a shared lot in back. They have a few tvs with sports on but music playing instead of tv sound which is nice. Food and their cocktails are so good! Really anything you pick on the menu you'll be happy with. They do not have many beer options on tap, but the ones they have are unique and all different local styles and flavors. We get bloody marys every time we are here! Nice thick flavor and not too much tomato. If you like them spicy you have to tell them though. Not 5 stars because service is usually lackluster, usually college students just trying to talk and flirt with one another instead of do their job or they just try to do the bare minimum. read more

Really cool place - hip interior, downtown vibrant location, great music, amazing food & drink. This could easily be a regular stop on our rotation if we lived in the area.... However, I don't want to say that service wasn't friendly but there's definitely an insider vibe club here. We struggled a bit placing our orders but everything came out perfect and delicious. We were there on a fairly busy Saturday night without a reservation. Some delay in getting a table and some delays with service. Female servers were pleasant enough. I had black bean burger with side salad-vinaigrette. Really tasty meal. Companion enjoyed BLT with Avocado (gotta love it!) and great French fries she said. I've had tried this place three times. Each time is a different disappointment. I gave it a shot. The place has a really cool aesthetic which is why I keep trying but I think I'm done. The food is fine but I will say, we ordered the wings listed on the menu was a pound of wings (we don't need a pound of wings but that's what it said), the order came with six wings. Not a pound. It's the service that is unacceptable. No one greats you, no one tries to help you, questions are treated like a bother and the overall attitude of the staff is terrible. I shouldn't have to flag down a person, I should be checked on, I should be given a dang napkin. They are all very rude. The staff needs to be hospitality trained, clearly this has not happed. read more

This is in my top favorite restaurants in Oshkosh! Their fries served with aioli are to die for! Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes such as burgers, ramen, breakfast tacos, bao buns and curry nachos - somehow everything is amazing! Do not come here if you have food intolerance/allergies and in need of accommodation. The waitstaff is clearly clueless about such requests. I am breastfeeding my two month old child who has a severe allergy to dairy. I went to this restaurant recently and expressed that I cannot have dairy. That means no cheese, milk, or BUTTER. I'm not sure if the server just didn't know that butter is dairy but I've been waitressing for years now and am fully aware to communicate when my table has had food allergies and I've always confirmed with them and the kitchen to be 100% sure I got it right. When fed dairy my daughter has severe reflux, so she is in pain, cannot keep her food down, etc. it is extremely painful to watch and when your child has an allergy to something you eat, and you avoid that allergen, if you accidentally get reintroduced, the process starts ALL over. Her symptoms are now back because of a mistake this waitress made, presumably not making the kitchen fully aware of this request. This was the only time I had eaten out this entire week and therefore the ONLY way I could have been accidentally served dairy. I ordered fries that came out with cheese on it after I expressed said allergy, and when I requested them to remake the dish due to there being cheese on it, the dish then came back out within 30 seconds with half the amount of fries it initially had, as if they had just picked off the top half and given me the rest. Then I ordered the breakfast tacos which must have been cooked with some sort of butter or dairy based margarine with either the steak, eggs, or something. There's just no way I could've had a reaction to anything else I've eaten. I used to love bar 430 but will never go again :/ read more

We came across this place looking for somewhere to eat before a concert. Cool vibes here and the waitstaff/bartenders were busting their butts to get people served. Excellent strawberry Paloma it was tart and tasty. I got the curry nachos and was actually surprised there was no sauce on them. I was instead lightly seasoned veggies as a topping on the handmade chips. It was a surprise but a delight. I think I would come back here if in town to try some other menu items. read more

The overall food was pretty good, I recommend the beef stew! It was perfect for a cold night at 1 degree outside. Good selection of cocktails as well; one complaint was music volume. My wife and I stopped by last night as the kid was spending the night at a friend's and we had a chance to do a little bar hopping. Staff was great, very friendly and helpful. They had a really good selection of alcohol. In a place that kind of touts its cocktails I thought they had a nice, if slightly uninspired cocktail menu. They were all variations on Old Fashioneds, Russians, Mojitos, and Mules. Would have liked to see a list that gets a bit deeper into cocktails, but every drink we had was well made, and tasty. We didn't eat so I can't really comment on the food, but if it tastes as good as it looks and smells, then the food is a homerun also, and looking at the menu, here is where they expended their creativity. We are visiting for the aviation convention, so I'm sure this was an overwhelming time for locals. There were only two workers scheduled for the front of house. So if I'm being honest, management was probably lacking there. But those two females knocked it out of the park. When we go out for anything in Oshkosh, we stop here for food and drinks. The burgers have are always great. We've had most of them on the menu and my fiancé and I are always blown away by them. The truffle fries are some of the best fries I've ever had, it's great that they put thought into something usually just thrown on the plate. The drinks are always good. The Old Fashioneds are excellent. The smallest draw back is the price is a little higher than you'd expect walking into a bar, but it's a nice establishment and more than a bar. Plus, you see prices, so you know what you're getting in to. The service has always been fast, even when it's at capacity. Food is always fresh with quality ingredients as well. I've been waiting for Oshkosh to get a place like this -- modern (bar) food. Delicious, well-constructed and intentional flavor profiles with fresh, tasty ingredients. The fresh foods actually had flavor, which is sadly hard to find in Wisconsin. E.g., tomatoes that tasted liked tomatoes and not a fibrous ball of water. We had the avocado toast, Brussels sprouts salad, ABLT, and grilled cheese. Everything was so good! Made me happy to eat, even the day after Thanksgiving when the thought of eating even more food was not particularly appetizing. Great atmosphere, just what a gastropub should feel like. Service was nice but randomly attentive/inattentive. But hey, it's a gastropub, can't expect Michelin star service. I ordered a burger rare and it came out well done which I'm usually okay with. They where super busy so I understand messing up but my burger was burnt and actually inedible in a quarter of it rare in another quarter then well done in the other half. Our water was filled up for the first time 15 minutes in and was refilled one more time at the end of our meal and it took another 10-15 min urea waiting for the check I'll have to come back when they're not as busy and review it again but as of now leaving a restraint hungry and dissatisfied isn't a good first impression read more

I didn't know what I wanted to drink right away so I just asked for a water. I then had to flag him down to place a drink order. He was busy outside taking in the umbrellas. Which I totally understand if we came in close to closing but we came in an hour before they closed. We ordered our drinks and decided to close out right away since this didn't seem like the spot for us and when he gave us the check he THREW the chit at us with no apology. We were here for the farmers market and we decided to stop in. I had the breakfast pizza and a scone and my girlfriend had the Spanish omelette. Everything was doused in a gross cheese sauce. The scone wasn't very good just tasted like hot sugar. The breakfast pizza's crust was over-cooked/burnt. The place was loud with people and the music playing just added noise to the experience. Had some errands in downtown Oshkosh and did some research on a lunch place. Was excited to see beer battered cheese curds on menu which made my decision. My husband and I were seated and I found out there is a brunch menu on Friday/Saturday of which cheese curds are not listed. I enquired about the cheese curds and was pleasantly surprised that they would be available. And they exceeded my expectations. My husband ordered the ribeye steak and eggs which he enjoyed. I ordered the chicken waffle sliders. Two huge portions which I ended up taking one slider home. Very unique and tasty combination. Service was prompt and the bartender/waitress was attentive. Amazing Burgers! I tried Bar430's Bacon Burger and was very impressed. The burger was cooked perfectly with the right amount of juiciness and flavor. The bacon was thick and crispy. Who doesn't love bacon? This is one of the best burgers I've ever had. Combined with Crispy Tater Tots I was very stuffed at the end of the meal. With the combination of the Moscow Mule in a real copper mug, the meal was a complete success. I can't wait to try more items on the menu! read more

This is a quaint and stylish establishment on Main that is a definite cut above the more divey drinking establishments that dot the landscape of downtown Oshkosh. Hell, dot Oshkosh and Wisconsin in general for that matter. While I am a huge fan of dive bars and "hole in the wall's" just in general, it is nice to have a bit of diversity to the downtown scene. The food is not what you are probably expecting from a place that operates mainly as a tavern. Sure, some of the items are of the brew pub variety, but if all you are expecting is chicken tenders with ranch dressing and nachos you will be pleasantly surprised to find that is not the case here. The menu has a great deal of diversity for such a small place, and I have yet to have a bad meal here. The spinach and artichoke dip here is fabulous, and while tons of restaurants do a similar variation on this popular app, this ranks among the very top I have experienced. The Tilapia fish tacos are also outstanding and very reminiscent of what you would typically find in many parts of Southern California. Rounding out my top 3, the crab cakes are also quite good for the Midwest. Though as a guy that has spent a great deal of time in Baltimore, Maryland, I have incredibly high standards for such things. As for booze, expect to find your typical Wisconsin bar staples, as well as several craft beers and premiums that are far less common. They really should add some variety to single malt scotches and super premium tequila to round things out in my humble opinion, but I also realize that Oshkosh is not Chicago either. Service here has always been quick and efficient, though it does get bogged down by high volume like any bar or restaurant does on occasion. During warmer months they have outdoor seating which is cool if you like to people watch and chill out on Main Street, especially during the Saturday farmers market. Though if you plan on scoring one of those tables I recommend you show up early. The Roxy down the street still has my vote for the best food to be found on Main (and among the best in Oshkosh) but 430 still does a great job and is worthy of 4 star billing. read more

Though the bar was only about half full, with at least 6 staff on at 1:30pm on a Saturday, I stood at the bar for 15 minutes and at a table (self seated) for another 20, I was never greeted. I asked for a menu from patrons who were done with theirs. I left after 35 minutes of being ignored, though plenty of other tables were served multiple times.
