Settled on The Hangar after searching on Yelp for restaurants close to our lodgings and the distance and menu choices swayed us. There were quite a few fast food and sandwich options close, but this had more a super club vibe which we were after. We weren't disappointed! They served prime rib on Thursday and red meat sounded like a perfect choice. Dinner started with a choice of two sides, so I had a cup of the Chicken Andouille and rice soup which warmed my heart. It was delightfully spicy. The prime rib was done to perfection and the au jus was flavorful. My wife had the pretzel crusted salmon with a mustard sauce on the side, asparagus and mashed potatoes. She hadn't had salmon done that way before and thought it was great. Will definitely return our next trip to Oshkosh. read more

This is the best meal my husband & I have had on our trip to Oshkosh! I found this spot from its great Yelp reviews, all the recent reviews were 5 stars with great explanations of food & experience. This restaurant is also right next to an airfield with a large outdoor seating section. We came for dinner & the sun was already down, although it was still 70 degrees outside we sat inside. Our hostess asked us if we wanted anything to drink & we just asked for water, she promptly brought us 2 plastic cups of water. This was just a bit strange to me because all of the other tables around us, had glassware. Our server was great, when I asked for recommendations he had several, including the French dip, the Hangar curd burger, & the Tuscan chicken penne. The Friday night special was Fish Fry but I was not in the mood for anymore fried food. My husband ordered the French dip & I decided to try the pan fried Walleye since I've never had Walleye before, which is a local fish. My husband really enjoyed his French dip, and it was a really good size portion, stuffed with thin slices of roast beef, sautéed onions & mushrooms & melted mozzarella cheese. The French bread was lightly toasted & the au jus was tasty. I really enjoyed my pan fried Walleye entree. The fish was nice and light and they cooked it with the skin on but really crisped it up. It was served on a bed of pesto mashed potato's and topped with sautéed spinach & blistered grape tomato's then drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Lots of flavor & great textures. This is a great dining choice in Oshkosh. I come here for the AirVenture airshow in July. My friends and I have a tradition of having prime rib sometime during the event. They have wonderful beers on tap. They have a whole variety of menu options. Everything I've had here has been very good. read more

Good and service were above average but it's by an airport! You can watch planes come and go and what's not to love about that?! We sat outside. Seated immediately by friendly staff on a Thursday evening. Salmon was moist, tasty and encrusted in pretzel bits. Generous portion of asparagus was al dente and well seasoned. A dome of wasabi mashed potatoes was tasty but lukewarm and not at all spicy. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal at this spot next to the Oshkosh airport. Service and food was very good. Cool space, nice location for EAA guests. Giant portions! I wish we knew before ordering as our group of 5 people went home with 2 bags full of leftovers. The fig flatbread was disappointing, too sweet, needed more savory qualities. The thing with flatbread is every bite tends to taste differently because of how items are arranged on it. Looked beautiful, but didn't taste very good as most bites were just bread and jam. The Mediterranean salad was wonderful, everything was fresh and they really filled it up with goodies. They have their own parking lot, it is a bit small but we were there and the house was packed and we still found great parking. A few basic table options for their outdoor patio in the back as well, otherwise they have a dining room and a bar that has tables in it to sit and eat. Our server was friendly and attentive, but didn't hover which was nice. Great fish specials! They had a bluegill special that you can order large or small. Friend wanted a last hurrah lunch in Oshkosh before departing for good. We went to an almost 5 star rated pub (elsewhere) and found it to be awful -- too loud, too dark. We left. So then we consulted the Yelp ratings, found the Hangar. It was Friday midday. What's more Wisconsin than fish fry on Friday? Ok! Ambiance here was much nicer. We could talk and hear each other. It was a pub atmosphere, but we could still see each other. Great. Checked menu. All sorts of fish options, including a daily special, prepared different ways. We both found our food tasty, was piping hot. There was plenty. Waitress was a little slow, but it did become busy really quickly later. I had enough to pack a box and have mine the next day, too. Friend was really pleased with her final meal out in Oshkosh. Great place to go for the food itself. Good place to go to congregate with friends. Would recommend. read more

This is a semi- permanent restaurant in the Vintage area at the EAA AirVenture week in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Very good pot roast dinner with real mashed potatoes. However the veggie side spent a little to much time in the warming pan. Very good chef salads. The temps during the week were in the 90's yet the Hangar staff was pleasant and prompt. read more

This place was very good. Located close to the airport (hence the name) and right next to the Hilton Garden Inn. I stopped here for supper and got the ribeye plus asparagus. The ribeye was great and the asparagus was pretty good, as well. They served au jus with the steak which was a first for me, unless I get prime rib but I'm not complaining. Got the smothered chicken here when we were driving back towards the airport. Also had a order of the cheese curds. Both were tasted pretty good. The cheese curds in particular were lightly fried and went down easy. The inside is like a typical bar atmosphere but they do sell surprisingly high quality merchandise. read more

I went to The Hangar on a Friday night. I made reservations and only had a short wait when I got there. I ordered the fried haddock and cheesy potatoes with the steak and mushroom soup. I also ordered one of their holiday drinks. I don't remember the name of it. EVERYTHING that I ordered was amazing. The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing with aviation decor. The steak and mushroom soup was to die for. I really wish I had the recipe. Perfection was what I thought as I was eating it. The holiday drink that I got had a cranberry flavor and a fizz from a soda of some kind. It was so good I could have keep sipping on it all night. The haddock was crispy and thinly sliced. It was so good! The cheesy potatoes were a great touch! It's an awesome side that you don't see in many restaurants. I would give the Hangar an A++++. I can't wait to go back! Stumbled across a great outdoor patio to enjoy the daily AirVenture show from. It's right off the airport and while not as good as being down on the flight line of the air show, this is the next best thing. Our server was friendly and recommended some bites to eat. Of course we had the cheese curds, and then also some pot stickers. We had dinner plans for later that evening so this was just to snack on during the air show. Appropriately named because this place is nestled next to and overlooks Whitman airport and during EAA it's a great place to drink beer and watch the show for free. Well you have to pay for food and drinks. And you have to wait for an outside table if you come late. But the night shows are my favorite. They serve a limited menu of fried foods out on the patio. But inside they have their full menu. And their broasted chicken is the bomb. It's a little outdated, but this place does very well. Packed all the time. No leaky roof here! Strong drinks and great food are enough to make people happy. Add that it's at a good price and you find a little older clientele here. Senior citizens are a good way to spot a great deal! They have a large bar area away from the diner area. So have one before during and after is my advice! read more

Interesting place with lots of parking. Nice crowd with both indoor and outdoor seating. Didn't try anything from the menu, but the bar prices were average. Our 2019 AirVenture group had a large dinner meeting...downstairs meeting room. They set up a small buffet table for us - self serve. They also set up a small alcohol bar...beer and wine only, full bar was upstairs. It was a little crowded for our group size but it did the trick. Now the food was a little sub-par tasting in my opinion. And there were a couple flies buzzing around and landing on th lunch meat (food was not covered). Overall, an average bar/grill in my opinion...nothing really stood out. No objections to coming back. read more

I discovered a hidden gem! Walked in after a late flight and was driving to a relatives house when we saw the restaurant. Welcomed us in the dining room and had no problem serving dinner after 9:30pm. I would highly recommend the Blue Gill dinner! Very generous serving.
