    Goulash soup
    Mark C.

Let's say 4.5 stars. Quaint little drinkery!! I'm visiting and walked from hotel to this great gem of a pub. The meat goulash is enough if ordered as a bowl, especially on a cold snowy day. Dinner is pork shanks with gravy and spaetzle with sauerkraut. The sauerkraut had a hint of sweetness that I had not had before. Wish the beer was colder. Other than that - I'll be back.

House schnitzel! (Cheese, ham and pink divine gravy)

Modern set up with old fashioned German recipes! For me, the best Maiboch and weizenboch I have ever drunk. The pink gravy forward house schnitzel was a decadent and satisfying plate of delight. The owner/host was a such an inviting and interesting person to talk to. He put the exclamation point on this 5 star review. Full bar.

Food came out good and hot! Service was excellent! I sat in the restaurant areas and it started out slow but quickly picked up!

Atmosphere: It is really dark in here. There is a small bar area right when you walk in the front. They have a front entrance and a back entrance which is nice depending on where you end up finding street parking. The host/hostess stand is right when you walk in. Service: This place is family owned and it shows, they have friendly and knowledgeable staff that know about the food. Things came out in a timely manner. Food: It was very good authentic food and we had never tasted anything in the area like it. The beer was good. The portions were decent yet we didn't have any leftovers (we did skip lunch that day in order to make sure we had enough room for our food here). Price: The only hiccup. We ordered 2 beers total, 2 entrees, and split a dessert and the bill was $72 before tip. Luckily we had a groupon so we saved a few dollars off of that, but I can think of quite a few places where we can order 4 drinks, 2 entrees, and an app or dessert to split and pay around the $50 mark. Due to the price being higher, this would be a place for special occasions only.

    Schnitzel Art Des Hauses

Cannot recommend the Schnitzel Art Des Hauses enough! An authentic German feel right here in the Midwest. The Owner and Staff are extremely genuine and definitely have a passion for what they do and the food they serve! See you next time OB's Brau Haus!

    Curry wurst!!!

So it took us a while longer to get back to this restaurant than we had hoped, but we weren't disappointed! We tried the curry wurst this time, and it was so delicious. The brats were tender and juicy, and not your typical coarse-ground brats that you cook on the grill. And the curry sauce was still amazing. The Reuben soup, with just a light touch of cream to the broth and plenty of bite from the sauerkraut, was perfect. I had the rahm schnitzel again, and it was as good as the last time. My wife had the meatballs with a cream sauce over spaetzle: a combination of pork and beef that produced a tender and flavorful result. Our server, Michelle, was as friendly and helpful and accommodating as the last time we were there when she was our server as well. We also had a nice chat with the manager/owner, Chris, as he was making his rounds at all of the tables to see that everyone was enjoying their experience at the restaurant. The food here is outstanding and the service is too. We love this place and can't wait to go back again.

Just go with the flow, you're at a Bavarian themed super club! Waitress will take your order and call you to your table when ready. As far as German food, I didn't know that there were so many ways to make Schnitzel! My wife and I both ordered the Schnitzel Trio, which included a regular veal schnitzel, one with asparagus and Holliday Sauce and another called the Black Forrest. I liked them all, but would have to say the plain old regular one was my favorite. Dinners include a well stocked build your own salad bar. All meals also came with a choice of side which included sauerkraut, spatzel or potato. Meal was great, had fun at the bar with the locals and loved the service. Cash only however!

I didn't know how busy it gets, but they had plenty of tables open, although we came at about 5pm. The ambience was favorable to the dining. The lighting was intimate but not dark. They had a great salad bar included with every dinner, bread, and a good choice of sides. My wife ordered the blackberry blue cheese pork loin. She was disappointed with her meal, as the pork wasn't seasoned, and the freezer blackberries (not a sauce, as advertised), were overpowered by the large amount of blue cheese. My prime rib special was great! It was advertised as a 12 ounce, but this must have been a full pound. Perfectly cooked medium rare with a seasoned edge, and swimming in a delicious au jus. I also had horseradish on top. The onion rings I ordered as a side also went well as a topping. The Old Fashioneds were good, but not great. If you're going to charge $7, might as well muddle some cherries instead of using a mix. Not a major conlmplaint, but that little extra touch is nice. Their lack of business concerns me- hopefully they do more weekend/fish fry business, but this is a nice place you should check out if you're nearby.
