Went there on a Thursday night for dinner and Old Fashioneds.. it was 515pm and we were the only customers in there.. uh oh. Not to worry! They had a great salad bar included with every dinner, bread, and a good choice of sides. My wife ordered the blackberry blue cheese pork loin. She was disappointed with her meal, as the pork wasn't seasoned, and the freezer blackberries (not a sauce, as advertised), were overpowered by the large amount of blue cheese. My prime rib special was great! It was advertised as a 12 ounce, but this must have been a full pound. Perfectly cooked medium rare with a seasoned edge, and swimming in a delicious au jus. I also had horseradish on top. The onion rings I ordered as a side also went well as a topping. The Old Fashioneds were good, but not great. If you're going to charge $7, might as well muddle some cherries instead of using a mix. Not a major conlmplaint, but that little extra touch is nice. Their lack of business concerns me- hopefully they do more weekend/fish fry business, but this is a nice place you should check out if you're nearby. read more

Went here for Christmas buffet. It was pretty awesome. I ate two plates and wasn't hungry for the next 36 or so hours. I don't hardly ever eat vegetables, but I ate a fair amount because they made them well. I consumed large volume of beef, chicken & pork. They also got some unique German beers I had not experienced on tap; they were quite different than my prior ingestion of those same beers out the bottle. I forgot to take photos of my food. Unfortunate experience for our family group of 12 tonight, that I hope was just a one-off. 10 of us ordered steak and 8 of them were so undercooked they had to be sent back. Of those 8, 3 had to be sent back a second time because they were still undercooked. When those 3 were returned, they remained undercooked. The picture attached to this review is one of those 3. This particular steak was ordered as medium. We also had one lobster tail that was very undercooked and could not be eaten. Our poor, sweet waitress did her best to make things right, but we later found that the cook (who was also the manager/owner?) was the issue. When we asked to speak to the manager about the food, that person indicated that she was the one cooking and that we didn't understand what medium or medium rare meant (I'm 30 lbs overweight and 46 years old...I know a properly cooked streak). She also claimed that we didn't send all those steaks back. No apology, no accountability, and we were accused of lying and being rude. Realizing that we were dealing with someone who wasn't operating in the same reality as we were, we paid our bill in full, tipped the poor waitress who was stuck serving undercooked meat repeatedly, and left. I hope this establishment can get these issues addressed. It's a great atmosphere, good drinks, good salad bar, but if your cook/manager/owner/gas lighter can't cook or ensure their patrons are taken care of when issues occur, then maybe it's time to make a change. I'd recommend bringing your own meat thermometer and/or a microwave in the meantime. read more

The food was mediocre at best. Far from authentic. The salad bar was good. It had a fair share if variety. The food splatter on the mirror in back of the salad bar, and smears on the overhead shield made the salad bar less than appealing. The server was very attentive, and our dinner was delivered promptly. It was disappointing that the only desserts available were pudding from the salad bar or ice cream. Drove over an hour to get the German buffet dinner. Started at the bar for some cocktails. My wife ordered a Riesling wine which took the bartender three times before he got the correct wine. First and last it needs to be said that the service was top notch. Gracie was one of the very best servers we have run across in this world. She was right on top of the meal delivery from start to finish. Not a bother but right where we needed her without asking. What a quaint German Supper Club! We happened to be going past at an early lunch time and stopped. We were the only ones there but were served some great burgers and a beer with a smile! Wisconsin has many Supper Clubs and connect people over food and strengthens the social fabric of a community. Feils is very well known and I wanted to try it. After riding my motorcycle forty miles to get there, it is a large faux German building surrounded by fields. We entered the door and was greeted by woodwork and a bar. I was blown away at all the gingerbread details. The hostess sat us a a table in the great hall. The menu is what you would expect. I ordered the Herb Steak with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. All dinners come with a salad bar. This one was quite expansive with leafy salads and different pasta salads and fixings. The steak and potatoes were substandard and not fun to eat. The service was attentive. Overall my impression is this restaurant is on its way out. Go to another Supper club. read more

One of the best salad bars we have ever been to. Attended their Friday night fish fry. We had the broiled haddock along with he salad bar and warm German potato salad (excellent). My only criticism is the new younger staff that waited on us. We ordered a Gin dirty martini and a Gin and tonic. He came back three times to get clarification on the order. My wife finally went to the bar to clarify with the mixologist how to make the drinks. Rather than having them as a before diner cocktail, they would up being desert! Not good!!!! My wife and I traveled from Fort Atkinson for a date night at Feil's and the experience certainly didn't disappoint. We had reservations for 6:30, but arrived a little late due to traffic. Despite that, we still had a 10-minute wait as it was explained that the kitchen was working to catch up (which I appreciate the honesty of the hostess and the perfectly plausible explanation). We didn't mind as we expect to wait a little for a table to give us a little time at the bar to enjoy some cocktails -- I consider it part of the Supper Club experience. The special for the night was Schweinshaxe and, of course, the traditional Wisconsin Fish Fry. My wife ordered the Sauerbraten, which was prepared in a traditional Bavarian style. I had the Weinerschnitzel with Spaetzle and the veal was perfect and tender. Oh... and let's not forget the awesome 15-foot salad bar! My goodness! It's rare to find any restaurant these days that offers the fixings for a traditional spinach salad INCLUDING the bacon dressing! The selection of cold salads and relishes was also impressive. The service was fantastic! We loved our bartender and our waitress was sweet and courteous as well. The cozy atmosphere and the German decor made us feel right at home. Feil's is now on our list of establishments that is worth traveling to for a great traditional supper club experience with a Bavarian flavor! read more

I always passed Feil's on my drive, and then saw that they had an outdoor biergarten. Perfect! We went toward the end of the evening on a Friday for fish fry, and it was a delight. I made a reservation just in case, and was warned that by 7:30pm the mosquitoes might be out in force. They did start to come out around 8pm or so, but we brought bug spray (thanks for the warning!) and it wasn't a huge problem. The staff was super nice, although it did take a hot minute to finally get our check. The meal started out with some bread and butter, which was super soft and yummy. We consumed all of it quite quickly. There seemed to be a bit of confusion on dark beers they had available, but after some consulting, we had a great glass of some type of darker beer... I forget what it was unfortunately, but it was very nice and light-bodied for a darker beer. We all ended up getting the fish fry, and it was delicious. Nobody left anything on their plates. The fish had a nice crisp outside crust with a soft and flaky inside of the fish. I would definitely order this again, and I would definitely return. Sadly, I was so full by the end of all this I could not try any of their awesome-sounding dessert drinks. From the photos, it looks like they aren't too big, so would be the perfect after-dinner treat... if I wasn't already full beyond capacity. Service was great. Alyssa and the bartenders were helpful and chatty. Drinks were very reasonably priced. Food was 50/50. Motz sticks were small and not worth it at all, only came with 4. Cheese curds and mushrooms were good. Pretzel was nothing special. Steaks were hit or miss. Ribeyes we're OVER cooked, had to have it remade. Herb steaks were a perfect medium rare. Garlic mash was good but nothing special. Salad bar had LOTS to choose from and was supppper good but covered in fruit flies. We just had a Mother's Day buffet at Feil's . A friend recommended the supper club. We had reservations and drove a ways to get there. We were so disappointed. Our welcome was 2 hostesses that argued in front of us because I asked not to be seated next to hot buffet table in main aisle due to a high chair being at our table. One seated us back by the kitchen door and said , " You have to eat and be off table within one hour." There were many tables open, too. I am posting this so you DONT go there. All 5 of us had similar reviews. The main entrees were extremely salty. The buffet was not displayed in an appealing way, nor cared for. Drips, food slopped in metal trays... The old fashion seemed watered down, bloody Mary's just average. Dessert cake hard as a rock. It seemed since we weren't locals , we weren't important. So, fast forward and we saw that for the month of October/Oktoberfest, they had on Saturdays a German Buffet. We thought we would give it another chance. This time around was better. So, we don't normally go to buffers but this one was special. We Both skipped the salad bar so can comment on that but at a glance it looked like it had a lot to offer. I can only assume that the soups and desserts were also at the salad bar. We skipped right to the hot bar that had all the German specialties. There was an abundance and I was almost able To get one of each on my plate. What I left off my plate was the Brussels sprouts-not because I don't like them-I love them. But I didn't see how the Brussels sprouts could be made "German" and I didn't have enough room. The highlight was the rouladen. It was not anything special and you had to watch which pieces you took so as to not get one that was too dried out. This is a German restaurant so I am wondering if you ordered just rouladen off the menu if it would Be better then the thin slices on the buffet. And so that was how it went for pretty much the rest of the items-just ok. These included potato pancakes, cabbage rolls, German potato salad, spaetzle-which was my highlight-jagerschnitzel, red cabbage, cabbage and kielbasa and sauerbraten which was not dry but moist and yummy. We enjoyed trying g the different foods and filled up but everything was just average. This will be one of this "been there-done that" for this buffet. The hostess was very nice and we had a reservation and got seated right away. I see comments about dinner clubs being dark and old. Well, these supper clubs are icons and are dark and old. But some of them have some awesome foods. As long as they are clean then just enjoy the experience. What an amazing place. We went here because our first spot was closed on a holiday weekend. We called to make sure they were open. They said we might have a wait. That didn't happen. Polka Joel was playing his accordion in the bar. We were sat almost immediately. A nice young man waited on us. We ordered cheese curds and onion rings. The cheese curds were local and amazing. The onion ring were even better, and really onion straws. We ordered prime rib and chicken cordon blue. Prime rib was perfect, au jus was even better. We got garlic mashed as a side. Great mashed potatoes, just not garlicky. I'll forgive them. The food was amazing. Great salad bar. Soup was definitely homemade. We mentioned that it was our anniversary, they brought us a delicious cup cake and a bottle of champagne. Fantastic folks. When we were leaving, the owners were sitting down for their dinner. A couple downfalls were out waitress never mentioned the specials and I wish they would have had more than one soup at the salad bar (French onion - which my husband likes but I do not). I had the blackened catfish which had a nice little kick to it and my husband had the steak and stuffed shrimp. I grabbed one of the stuffed shrimp and they were awesome. The honey butter for the bread was really good. And they make a great grasshopper and brandy alexander. Some of the items on the menu seemed a little pricy but overall not bad. read more

My husband and I and another couple had supper Friday July 21st at Feil's. we had reservations for 6:30 pm and did not get seated for thirty minutes later. I ordered Fish Fry with sweet potato. when our food came my sweet potato was so hard I could't even cut it. Asked to have it taken back to be microwaved. it still was very hard when it came back. My husband ordered the Barbecued Ribs. They came out looking very gray and it looked like they jus took the Barbecue bottle and squeeze cold barbecue on it. They had no taste. Also the waiter brought out loaves of bread, they were so hard you couldn't cut them. The three people who had fry's couldn't eat them.. They looked and tasted like they cooked them in oil that wasn't hot enough. My friend asked for new fry's that were crispy. The waiter came back and send that's the way they cook them. I will say and problems with the meal was not the servers fault. Our meals came to about $100 for four people. Will never go back. We live locally and like to go to local businesses but not Feil's. Went for the first time. Party of 6. I had made reservations a few weeks beforehand for 6pm. We were not seated until 7pm. Our order was taken at 720pm when we were told we could not get the Friday fish fry as they had run out. Our entire reason for coming on a Friday. I ordered a Coke which I did not get for 20 minutes because the bar was backed up. Our appetizer came out with our meals. Except for mine. I don't know if it was never put in or the cook never cooked it, but I got to watch my family and friends eat while I nibbled on onion rings. We had to wait 30 minutes to check out because we were paying by credit card and there was only one terminal that took credit cards. We finally left just over 3 hours after arriving. Worst dining experience I have ever had. Do not recommend. On the way put I used the women's restroom and you could only use 1 of the 3 stalls so I had to wait in a line for that. read more

After dinner we saddled up to the bar for an ice cream drink. The Tia Mocha was awesome and they are running Grasshopper specials for the month of March, only $2! Bartender was friendly as well. The only thing we didnt like was the service. Super slow. The bar tenders were really slow. And it took over a 30+ mins for my ice cream drink. Stopped by the outdoor beer garden. The food was great the people were friendly and the beer was tasty. However they were not observing mask wearing or social distancing so we were so weirded out that it was hard to enjoy the experience. We will go back when it is safe. This was honestly the absolute WORST restaurant experience of my life. Tried to have a nice family dinner and the food was HORRIBLE! For starters, we had to pick the brown and slimy lettuce out of our salads - GROSS! My daughter's entree was cold so she very politely sent it back. The cook - who doubled as the most unprofessional manager on Earth - microwaved the food so it came out overcooked and hard. My other daughter ordered scallops which were very fishy smelling and had no flavor. My steak was gristly and way over-seasoned. My husband didn't complain, but he gave his meal a 3 out of 10. As we were getting ready to leave, the cook/manager came to our table and was very confrontational - in my daughter's face and not wearing a mask (yes, there is a mandate...). She returned to the kitchen only to come back to our table and make quite the scene - following us out of the restaurant yelling at us. AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs!!!!!! We were there for Octoberfest on Sunday. It was awful. Food was dry, tough and cold. Potato pancakes were like dry and like rubber. Beef Roulauden was dry and tough. The buffet on Sunday is smaller than the buffet on Saturday. Perhaps Sunday's food is what is leftover from Saturday. The buffet was horrible. We told the waitress. The only thing she said was that she was sorry and she asked us if we wanted our bill. They made no attempt to make it right or offer us a discount or refund. Never again!! My baked cod dinner was not hot. In addition, I asked for sour cream for the baked potato. It arrived with a small cup of white stuff, which I assumed was sour cream. I put it all over the potato and it turned out to be tartar sauce. There was no sour cream. Tartar sauce is not even usually served with baked fish.Our very nice server took the whole dinner back to the kitchen and brought it back as my companions were finishing their dinners. The restaurant was out of homemade white bread "since the weekend" even though this was a Wednesday. No apology from management. read more
