Over the railroad & through the woods to a great fish fry we go! Baked or fried cod, Blue Gills or Walleye & at reasonable prices! Clean, spacious, bright with lots of tables & plenty of bar space. Great service friendly & attentive. Delicious fried cod, baked sweet potato was wonderful & side salad was fresh & crunchy. Clam Chowder was spot on! Going to make it back soon! read more

Food came quickly and was decently priced. The homemade salsa was amazing. I didn't really taste much sauce on my chicken Parmesan wrap, so I wished there was more of that. My husband said the burrito was good. The bartender was friendly. It was the middle of the day and was dead so we chatted and watched wheel of fortune together. Would definitely come again. read more

If you want the best Sunday breakfast, go here!! The owners are hardworking local folks with great food and great prices! Friendly atmosphere and staff! They have amazing wings too. read more

Stopped in to try the fish fry last week and was very pleased. Delicious food, plenty to eat and good price. Service was quick and friendly. Nice country decor. Nice beer and drink selection. Only suggestions for improvement was that the clam chowder was a little thin and the Cole slaw containers were half full, but that was minor. Will definitely go back again. read more

Wednesday all you can eat chicken wings. (Now also for a time on Thursday). First eight includes French fries and one sauce. Mine ordered plain with garlic Parmesan sauce. Came crispy outside with moist inside. Other order was with chipotle BBQ, again was cooked perfect and flavorful. Grandson asked about the "Double Dare" and owner brought out a drummy with the sauce. Not for the faint of heart as it is "smoking hot". Owner brought out a glass of chocolate milk. Sauces are all home made and very good. Oh, and a bar that has PBR on tap! My kind of bar. read more

Backed fish is so good. Service is good and their old fashioned is perfect . We have been there multiple times food was always good.

Nice out of the way place. Service with a smile which is rare these days. Burger and grilled cheese were delish.

Drinks are good, service has been great and we haven't had a bad food item yet! They do their own corned beef in house and it's the best ruebuen we've ever had. The owner is very nice and obviously cares about his customers. read more

The Barrel Inn - American Near Me - Marshall, Wisconsin

Was on a business trip and searched for places in or near Marshall WI and this place had a good rating. The website shows a Saturday prime rib special so we decided to stop. We ordered some cocktails and waited a long time to get our drinks. The place was pretty busy and they were severely understaffed with only one waitress and one bartender. The waitress came back with our drinks and started to take our order and I tried to order the prime rib and was told that I needed to have ordered that on Thursday or Friday and they were sold out. We had to go to plan B off their regular menu. My wife was disappointed in the cooking of her burger but I was satisfied with my chicken Caesar wrap. The limited staff was nice and small town friendly. Probably won't return as I noticed that the prime rib looked seriously overcooked. read more

All you can eat wings doesn't disappoint for the wing lovers for Wednesdays. Definitely enjoyed it read more

Thanks to the Yelp! community I stumbled on this hidden gem. I was taking some country roads to work and needed to eat. 1st up on the "burger" list for my location was the Barrel Inn. It's off the beaten path's beaten path, but the burger and cheese curds were well worth it! The burger is cooked to order and was well seasoned. The bun and burger tasted great. The cheese melted perfectly on top. A side of homemade cheese curds made it all the better. The curds are lightly battered, fried nuggets of heaven. I may actually return for the cheese curds alone! With a Coke to wash it down, the bill was $13.50. Money well spent in my book! read more

We've had food many times from the Barrel Inn, usually dining in-house. Tonight we got take out for the fish fry and it was delicious. When we picked it up, it was piping hot. I got the beer battered cod and my husband got the blue gill. They were both baked perfectly. The batter so light. Great flavor! We each had baked potato. I normally would get the sweet potato with topping (it's like dessert) but wanted something different. I had the clam chowder soup, it lacked some flavor and only had 2 clams in it. The Cole slaw was too warm after being packaged with the food so we didn't eat it. To be honest many times this is a 3 star restaurant. I gave it 4 stars because to me they have the absolute best tartar sauce for their fish. Call me crazy but I would just love to bottle it all up and bring it home. It's on the sweet side (so if sweet isn't your thing, probably better stick to baked cod and butter!), which I love! YUM! read more

A hidden gem! Very friendly service, and excellent food! Clean and spacious. Had burgers and Reubens today, but definitely coming back for a fish fry and homemade pizza. read more

Love their Sunday breakfast and Friday fish fry. The breakfast sandwich on Texas toast is my go to for breakfast. The Bluegill on Friday nights is outstanding. Nice and flaky, light batter. Friendly service, non pretentious crowd. clean bar and plenty of room for seating. Beer is ice cold too! read more

Classic, old-school, almost-a-supper-club backroads Wisconsin bar with a fish fry worth of a road trip.

Went to the Barrel Inn for Wednesday night all you can eat chicken wings, nice country bar! I was surprised at the family friendly atmosphere and crowd. There were many choices of wings to choose from. The waitress took our second wing order while we working on our first and let us mix it up. Oh ya she asked us if we wanted a to go box ( for all you can eat ) hey this stuff doesn't happy in inner city Madison!! This is why I like country and small town bar and restaurant's. We will be back for other daily specials. read more

My best friend had been raving about this bar for years, so I decided to get my buddies togethor and try the all you can eat wing special on Wednesday's. First of all, the establishment is literally in the middle of nowhere, but don't let that deter you from coming. The place was very busy inside around 6pm, and severely understaffed. I'm a big eater, so I chose my wings and sauce along with a reorder right off the bat. The wings were amazing: crispy and hot along with a flavorful dry rub. As the night rolled on, the service really dropped off. I don't blame Barrel Inn's staff because it was a combination of high volume and low staff. Overall, the food was delicious, and I will definitely be coming back. Ps: The wings come breaded unless you ask for naked wings. Then they come just fried and tossed in sauce or dry rub read more

Friendly service and AMAZING home cooked food. Try the pulled pork!!! You will not be disappointed. Will be back

A classic Wisconsin tavern with plenty of parking. Lots of attitude behind the bar and also with the regulars sitting at the bar. The food is quite mediocre, including the wings kn Wednesday's that are coveted for some unknown reason. The wings are overly breaded and retail you not worth the hype. The other items on the menu are predictable tavern fare. No stand outs. I would skip the Barrel Inn and head to Chicken Licks if you are looking for authentic and tasty wings read more

Believe it or not, my husband and I eat here mostly for Sunday breakfast! 7:00 to 11:30 AM The food is great and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. They always have a special on the board and we usually sit at the bar to eat. Some Fridays, we have their WI, Friday fish fry. It has always been great. I like the potato pancakes as a side. The restaurant is large and seats many. They have specials everyday! And they host events like: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny for families. Live music is one of their specialties as well. It is absolutely worth a drive out to Berlin Road in Deansville!! read more

Visited here with our 4 kids the food was decent nothing spectacular but good the place is huge which was nice for our large family

Excellent Friday night fish fry! My husband and I visit all the local fish fries and this is one of this is one of our favorites. I love the blue gill (not offered a lot at other restaurants) with a side of their wonderful coleslaw and to delicious homemade potato pancakes. Great beer selection and friendly and efficient staff. Located out in the country, this tavern is a local favorite. read more

This bar/eatery has passed thru several hands in the past 5 years. Should be a good place for a tastey bar-burger but seems to disappoint more than please. Sometimes it's the atmosphere (overly rowdy) sometimes it's the food...meh read more

I'll be honest, I hate to write a great review because it will get crowded. But we just finished fish fry there tonight. Outstanding potato pancakes. Great clam chowder. Fried cod was excellent as was baked potato. I had a bloody Mary and it was great with good garnishes. Husband had whiskey old fashioned. Also good. Place has been nicely renovated. $12 for three piece cod dinner, including a cup of soup. Perfect place for Friday night fish fry. Although if you are in a hurry, this is not a good choice for dinner. It took awhile to get our food. The kitchen was busy. read more

This is our favorite Friday fish fry in the Sun Prairie area. I recommend the baked cod and blue gills. The side salad has nice greens. Potato pancakes are an option, and are tasty! Portions are generous and the price is right. Friendly atmosphere and down home service. read more

Been here a few times. The service is always great and at the time I come in with the family. It's never crowed. We order and the food is amazing. Discovered this place when we thought we would go out to eat but didn't want the typical places we usually goto. Thanks to a quick search I found this place and will keep going back. Staff is friendly and food is amazing. Good work. Keep it up. read more

Went in for their meatloaf sandwich which is the Wednesday lunch special. Also, ordered the onion rings and a cheeseburger. The onion rings are hand battered and came on hot and crisp. Really some of the best I've ever had. If you like old school comfort food the meatloaf sandwich was to die for. Don't know the cook, but my hat is off. The consensus at the table was that the cheeseburger was above average especially with the homemade waffle fries. A lot of food for the money. read more

Went on a Wednesday night. They had a wing special so ordering a burger was a mistake. I asked if oredering it medium rare was an issue and the owner told me no.
