Just ate dinner at RuYi and the food was ok, but the service was horrible. It took probably 10 minutes for our waitress even notice she had a table and after taking the order we had to flag her down for refills on our drinks and our bill. I can see the service being slower when a restaurant is crowded, but this was not the case here. I honestly think my meal was brought to the table next to us, since the lady said I didn't order that. My food was at ok at best. We should have gone with our first choice Emperor of China. read more

Let me start out by saying that I am not a huge fan of Potawatomi as a casino. With that being said, I do have to give them credit for having some very good dining establishments. Ru Yi is an amazing Asian restaurant that features Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai food. The service is very good, and so is the food. My absolute favorite meal here is the shrimp fried rice. Not only do you get a decent amount of shrimp in there, but they are very generous with the portion that they give you. I have also tried the General Tso's Chicken. It had a little kick to it, but is very good. I definitely recommend the Crab Rangoon as an appetizer. If you are a fan of sake, Ru Yi has a nice selection of sake for you to choose from. You have the choice of having your sake warm or cold (I personally like my sake warm). There are also other drink options available. On a side note, I appreciate the fact that the restaurant is smoke free. With as smoky as the casino is, it's nice to have a smoke free place to go to there. read more

Stopped in here since I was craving Chinese. I ordered the crab Rangoon, egg drop soup and shrimp fried rice. And had the banana stuffed wonton for dessert. The crab rangoons were to die for, only complaint they skimped out on the crab meat. The egg drop soup was decent but I wish they didn't add too much fried wontons , I've had better but this was pretty decent. The fried rice was really good, again they seemed to skimp out on the shrimp. Now the star attraction was dessert, the fried banana and cinnamon wontons were to die for!! Fresh fish has a distinct flavor. I'm seriously concerned I just ate $55 of gas station equivalent sushi. Something that's been I unthawed and refrigerated for a very long time. The last roll of the three was sketchy, it just tasted so mildly bland, not like fish. I'll come back and re-rate it a one star if I end up barfing tonight. Been here many times and it is never consistent. Sometimes it's pretty good and others it's just not good and feel like I wasted my money. Salt Pepper Shrimp and Calamari Steak $18 was cold, soft, and extremely fishy. It was sent back and was returned hot, but still extremely fishy and it was lacking flavor. We usually order the salt pepper shrimp off the regular menu and it's pretty good, but this special uses different shrimp and it's not fresh. Chop Chae was good and seasoned well. Korean Wok Stir Fried Noodles are the best thing they have here, but again, it's the consistency that has an issue. Once it was too salty, once just right, and the most recent was not as flavorful and very oily. Whole Fried Snapper was prepared well, but the sauce didn't pair well with the fish. There wasn't any Thai basil as described. For $30, the fish was pretty small. Gang Dang Curry is the only consistent dish I've had and the only complaint is that they will charge you if you want extra rice. Overall, it all depends on who's cooking and it seems like the food is better on the weekends. I was hoping this place could be my go to place for late night dining, but I will have to keep looking after receiving constant up and down experiences. read more

One of my favorite places to eat! We had a party of 6 for dinner on Saturday. We stared with a few appetizers. Our server was excellent with making recommendations. We all had different entrees and shared with each other. My favorite was the volcano chicken! None of us had room for dessert. Portion sizes were large, food was cooked perfectly and flavorful, pricing is lower than expected, service is top notch. We have eaten here almost once a month for the past 5 years and have been coming to this restaurant since they opened. This past visit was the most disappointing we had order the General Tso chicken one of favorite dishes,since they took the Korean spicy noodle soup off the menu. It was the worst meal we had there the dish for one was not the meal we order and the chicken and sauce was way to spicy to even eat one piece of chicken. We mentioned it to our waitress as the Couple next to us order the same dish and his was exactly what we where expecting (thank goodness since it was his first time there and we recommended it) you could tell by looking at the Two dishes that one was correct and the other was not what the same even through we both order the he same dish. We explained to our waitress she apologized but never tried to make the meal correct. It is making is question if we will go back. Since most the of the dishes we have order are now off the menu. The Korean spicy noodles is not the same as the Korean spicy noodle soup and the heat of the dish most determine who cooks the meal, There is no consistency to the dishes. The last couple times this year I have never been so disappointed in the service and the meals that have been served. I really wish and hope they can go back to what they where. read more

I love to use my monthly food voucher from the casino for carry-out from RuYi. The food is always fresh and is usually enough for 2 meals. Some of the tasty meals I would highly suggest are as follows: 1) Fresh Spring Rolls, shrimp, romaine lettuce, carrot, rice noodles, mint, basil and cilantro with sweet chili and plum sauce 2) Tom Yum, vermicelli rice noodles, cucumber, onion, cilantro, basil and bell pepper with beef or shrimp 3) Pad Thai, rice stick noodles, tofu, bean sprouts, bell pepper, onion, egg and peanuts with chicken, beef, tofu or vegetables, shrimp or seafood 4) Orange Beef or Chicken, spicy orange sauce with sesame seeds and crispy chicken or beef read more

If you're looking for watered down wine and average service, then by all means, check it out! I ordered a glass of the house Cabernet. They went to the back and poured it for me. I would have to say that it seemed as though the wine was combined with water. I have never tasted a wine like this before and was highly disappointed. Stick with a beer from the bottle if you order a drink. We also ordered the specialty drink, which was served to us in styrofoam/plastic glasses. I've never been served a drink in a glass like that at any restaurant. So that was strange. However, the drink was tasty. We added a bottle of cold Sake. This came to us at room temperature, so we had to ask for ice. RuYi has been advertising their sushi lately but what they don't tell you when you go in is that you can only order it on one side of the restaurant...as if there is this invisible line drawn that the sushi can't pass. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, which was your standard crab rangoon. Nothing special about it. We also got the Tempura Vegetables which were decent. The next appetizer we ordered were the Spring Rolls, which I thought were great. Crispy on the outside and not overly greasy tasting. For our main dishes we got the Singapore Noodles, which were all right, nothing special. We also got the Fried Rice, which was great. The Bulgogi was a decent dish as well, except the portion size was small. Overall the experience and drinks were terrible at RuYi. I don't think I'll go back and wouldn't recommend this place to friends. read more

Decent. We were at Potawatomi Casino for a concert over the weekend and wanted to eat before the show. Options are limited at this place, and we weren't sure about RuYi's multi-pan-Aisian menu. But we took a chance and were very satisfied. Beer - he had the big Sapporo and I had a Singha, both good. Started with pot stickers; they were yummy and 5 was just the right amount to share. Big ones and they arrived nice & hot. Entrees - he went with the safe Kung Pao Chicken and I had the pork & shrimp Singapore noodles. Both dishes very good, but a LOT of food (especially the noodles) since I also... At the last minute opted for a side of spicy eggplant (fried with a spicy sesame sauce) that turned out to be the best think I ate. I wish I had ordered that with some white rice as my entree, really delicious. Will probably eat there again next time we see a show at Northern Lights Theatre. read more

It was my first time here. The service was horrible, I would understand if it was full/busy but there was a lot of servers around and the dinning area was less than half full and their service was still horrible! My brother and I order drinks, appetizers, and a meal each. We got our appetizers (cold) then had to remind our server about our drinks. Food came out cold. I ordered pho, it came out with an Asian soup spoon, and when I asked for a regular spoon because I don't like the Asian soup spoons, the waitress asked "how regular would you like your spoon.... it wasn't a pleasant experience at all read more

Went there for my birthday dinner and we had the LOVE PLATE, nine pieces of chef's choice nigiri, nine pieces sashimi and dragon roll. For dessert we had the CHOCOLATE GANACHE CAKE WITH CREAM CHEESE. Best food as far as sushi I have eaten. The cake was very good. The staff is very helpful explaining the different types of sushi and rolls and customer service is excellent. This review is limited to only Peking duck. We ordered a whole peking duck. It was ready in about 20 mins; I assume they reheated but it was not warm. Obviously, it would take longer than 20 mins to make peking duck. I called them ahead of time - to see if they would get the peking duck going - assuming that they need an hour or more. Interestingly, they said they don't take phone orders, even though I offered to give my credit card number. The lady says "How do we know it is your credit card"? This kind of policy is new to me and seemed rather unusual. Anyway, the duck: It was ok. Not bad and not great. If the duck was cooked and stored overnight or longer, the meat would have had a bad taste. The meat itself was not tasting bad. It was acceptable.. Hence 3 stars. Peking duck is served with thinly julienned green onions and carrots. There was no such accompaniment. They brought rice over. We requested the tortilla (not sure what the chinese version is called) and that took about 10 mins to arrive. Over all, it was a 3 star experience. It is quite possible that some of their other dishes are superior. In the past, I had once tried to go to Ruyi and immediately walked out - because of the strong smoke. The ambiance was nice the service and food was served expeditiously. My waiter was attentive and kept my glass filled. The Rangoon was delicious and I ate all (8). Nice combination of crunchy and soft. I also ordered veggie fried rice that came out vibrant and colorful. Stopped by the casino last weekend to check out their dining venues. After seeing what was served at "The Buffet", we decided to try Ru Yi which proved to be a good decision. Shared the RuYi Platter that included fresh spring rolls, crispy fried spring rolls, pot stickers, edamame and crab rangoon. Ginger garlic soy sauce, sweet plum sauce, sweet chili sauce and a couple of other sauces accompanied that platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. Portion size was huge! It was fun to try a little bit of this and that; I would definitely order the platter again. Next up? Moo Shu Pork. Wok-seared pork loin, shredded cabbage, carrot, bamboo shoots, black mushroom, green onion and eggs with pancakes. Seriously gigantic platter of delicious meat and veggies accompanied by 4 delicate pancakes. We each had one, then packed up leftovers which were terrific the next day for lunch. Server was very nice and the restaurant was pretty-much smoke-free, something we appreciated. If you're looking for a tasty meal or snack at the casino, I would definitely check out Ru Yi! read more

Delicious sushi! Generous portions for the rolls, and right up there among the best sushi rolls I have had locally. My husband and I ordered 3 maki rolls and the basil spring rolls-that was plenty to satisfy us. Would definitely recommend and will go back! Great service as well. read more

RuYi is inside the Potawatomi Casino, which is a little weird if you're just looking to come to the restaurant, but the food is worth it. We got the Friday night fish fry, which is tempura walleye. It comes with rice and stir fried veggies, which is a nice alternative to the usual fries. The fish was awesome. Maybe the best fish fry I've had in Milwaukee so far. The service was good. Walking through the smoky casino to get to the restaurant was about the only minus. read more

One only since that is the lowest possible. Food was terrible, not real asian and even then not cooked properly. Noodles were mushy!! Manager was extremely rude!! Charging us for inedible food! And their policy here by the way is to make it their way and if it is bad or wrong too bad for you. Came here after reading many of the positive reviews. Ordered the fried spring rolls, the egg drop soup, and the Singapore noodles with chicken. Of all these items, only the egg drop soup was good. The spring rolls were dripping with oil and tasted like they'd soaked in oil all day. The insides were almost mush. The Singapore noodles were just nasty. The flavor was entirely one note -- cheap yellow curry -- and the chicken was dry and almost rubbery. It had only a small scattering of vegetables in it and was topped by a partially cooked omelet of egg that was nearly burnt outside and cold and runny inside. I told my server that it was nasty and he apologized but did nothing to correct it or adjust my bill. It was so inedible that, despite my misgivings about spending more money here, I sent the noodles back and ordered the cashew chicken to replace them. The server told me he has never had a complaint about the cashew chicken. Which frankly I find hard to believe -- the sauce tasted predominantly of bok choy. Anyway, long story short, the food here was nicely plated but what I would consider to be slightly below average In quality, and well below average for what I paid. I wouldn't come back here... I would rather eat in the food court on level 3 than eat here again. It just was not great, by any standards. read more

I've been here a few times and it has always been good, but not great. The whole Peking duck is excellent though for those who like duck, a real treat. Prices are a big high for what you get, and unfortunately you have to walk through the smoke laden casino to get to the restaurant. When we got home we stunk of smoke heavily. This place often has bad customer service from the greeters to the manager. Food is most often good. However for the price, they need to upgrade their customer service skills. Also cooks need to be consistent, the dish should be the same every time it's ordered. read more
