I drove past Benito Xpert a few weeks ago and was finally able to try it today via delivery on DoorDash. I don't know if my expectations were too high or if I misunderstood their vibe, but this was very far from the Japanese bento box experience that I was expecting. The meat was sauce heavy, it was lacking in vegetables and was basically chinese food in a plastic bento-style tray. Despite going keto, I still crave their five spices crispy chicken. Their bento box is very generous and well thought out - a lot of places will give you blah sides, but their sides in the bento are all fresh and delicious. You can chose to get any of the main dish as a "side" rather than as part of bento. This used to be much more affordable, but on my last visit (6/2024), the bento was $12, and the side was $9. I wanted to skip the bento since I wanted to just cheat my keto diet with my favorite five spices chicken, but if you want a better deal, get the bento. Both their braised egg and egg rolls are yummy. I actually also really love their stir fried veggies. My second favorite dish is their Beijing beef. It has been a while since I've been in and I see Korean chicken on their menu now, and I look forward to trying it out. So far, I haven't had anything here that wasn't good (Ok, with the exception of their pork bun, which wasn't bad, but I didn't think it was as good as their other greater fare). Probably the best Chinese food in town! We've been coming here for years, and every time has been great! I usually order their Sanbeiji (three-cup) chicken and crispy chicken meals. I have eaten here several times (including ordering via app) and my favorite is the tofu (they rotate two different kinds of tofus per week). What I like about the restaurant is how it's kind of a food-court style (they have premade food everyday) or you can order a specialty item which takes longer to cook. The owner is really friendly and the staff have always been efficient. The flavors are definitely authentic and I love that you can pick up your food and be back at work- so convenient. Ordered the hongshao pork bento (pieces of braised pork belly) and the braised minced pork bento (a classic Taiwanese comfort dish). Both dishes were bursting with flavor. Hidden inside Eleven25 at Pabst, this spot is one worth making the trip for. I had been meaning to check it out for awhile but it was just out of the normal rotation of favorites. Boy did we miss out. Everything ordered came out hot and fresh and I could not have had a happier belly! Stewed brisket came with rice and veggies and reminds me of a dish that someone's grandma would serve up to you on a cold winter day. The pork cutlet was flavorful and not greasy like typical cutlets you may find elsewhere. The 5 spice chicken was probably my favorite, I'm biased towards fried chicken. Finally tried Bento Xpert. Sorry I didn't get any pics. It was a working lunch, ordered delivery, And I ate it before it occurred to me. The restaurant isn't that easy for me to get to as part of my regular routine. But since I'm ordering in a lot now it was definitely worth a try. I got the Taiwan popcorn chicken bento. It was quite a bit of food for $10--crispy chicken, rice, vegetables, and a soy egg. The vegetables were nicely seasoned--not an afterthought like they are at some places. The rice came with some kind of meat which I wasn't expecting, but it wasn't unwelcome. And the chicken was hot and plentiful. I'm not exclusive to the fried foods, I just really like Taiwanese fried chicken. I will have to try one of the other more stir-fry type dishes also. The only caveat for delivery ordering is that they pretty much only sell the bentos and they're in the $10-11 range. Sometimes I prefer to get a few extra items so I'm not making someone drive across town to deliver me just one thing. I understand that if you're ordering for more than one person this is not really an issue. read more

We love Taiwanese foods and are so glad that there is one in Milwaukee. We have high expectations based on rave Yelp reviews. The restaurant is located inside the old Pabst brewery where they are plenty of metered street parking nearby. There are apartments on top and some businesses on the other side of the 'food hall'. I believe they also own Marco Polo for the boba tea and snacks which I didn't purchase anything. We chose the bento with 2 entrees (3 cups chicken and fried fish), 1 side (soy sauce marinated egg) with lo mein. We were really looking forward to the chicken but they turned out to be quite hard and spicier than we preferred. Fish were ok and lo mein drown in oil. It's WI and $10 isn't bad for its quality but could have more noodles. Will go back for dinner sometime when in town. read more

Very clean, bright, spacious food hall. The owners of Bento Xpert are a couple and they also run Marco Pollo (you may have seen their food truck before) which is just next to it. They are both super friendly. WiFi is free. Therefore, the dining environment makes me happy already. Good for those who want to study or get some work done but also want some Asian food or more entree typed food rather than just a protein box or a cup of soup. Food is absolutely delicious and in large generous portions at a very reasonable price. Every dish also comes with a tea-braised egg and a variety of sided vegetables (see the photos). The sides vegetables are yummy most of times. When the owners have lots of orders and don't have too much time, they may just boil the vegetables. But for the price, that is totally acceptable. And the sides do make the meal more balanced and healthier! Love that idea!!!! Me and my friends (all are Asian; some come from Taiwan) liked their Taiwanese food. If you are a first timer, you may want to try their Taiwan Pork Chop bento. Otherwise, Shacha Beef, Braised Pork belly (Lu Rou Fan & Kong Rou Fan) and three cup chicken are all very delicious and authentic. It's set up underneath some apartments and feels as though it's in cafeteria. Mainly set up for to go orders. For the price, the food was amazing! After 2:00, the lunch special was only $6! My first experience was very good, food fresh, hot and very flavorful. I went back a second time and took two coworkers with me, we all purchased the lunch special and very pleased with our meals. Today 11.15.2024 I went to get a lunch special. I asked to sample the orange chicken and was told by the male owner that it was typical orange chicken. I mentioned that I have never had theirs before and I wanted to try before I buy. Most places with an steam table buffet display will allow you to sample. I was able to sample it and it was cold. Lydia the owner stated that it just needed to be stirred to bring the hot pieces to the top. I proceeded to order my meal when I returned to work just 3 minutes away the 5 spice chicken, noodles and Crab Rangoon (soggy bottom) was at room temperature to cold. I called to let them know that my food was cold. The male owner answered the phone, I told him about the food and he told me that the steam table was at the proper temperature and I can come back and check the temperature for myself. As I tried to explain to him no matter what the temperature reads all of my food is still cold. He cut me off and said that I can come back and get my money refunded. I tried to tell him that all I wanted was some hot food. He refused to acknowledge my request and insisted that I can get my money refunded. I am not happy with the service received. As a customer I believe I should have been afforded my right as a paying customer to express my dissatisfaction with the food quality and offered a choice as to whether I wanted a refund or to get a fresh, hot meal. I am very unhappy with my whole experience today and very saddened by the owners response. I will not return again and I will share my experience with those that I have already told to check out Bento Xpert. read more

I had a quick lunch at Bento Xpert on a weekday. I ordered through the Ritual app, so my food was ready when I arrived! The customer service was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was very happy with my lunch and would highly recommend checking Bento Xpert out! I would easily return. Bento Xpert is in the Eleven25 at the Pabst, which includes three additional businesses as a little food court. The space was bright and clean, and if you're eating lunch with others and can't decide on one place, this would be a good selection. There is plenty of seating, both tables and counter seating so it's comfortable with a group or on your own. I chose the Orange Chicken, and I was not disappointed. The sauce was delicious and tangy, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. There was so much food! I was extremely full by the end and not able to finish it all - a good problem to have when the food is delicious! The rice was nicely cooked, and the eggroll was a tasty little bonus. The only downside was the vegetables, as I don't really think they went well with the orange chicken (green beans, cabbage, broccoli, a pepper or two and a few zucchini and onions. It would have been great to see some big chunky red peppers and onions, snow peas instead of the beans, and maybe some carrots? The vegetables just seemed out of place, but they were okay). I have ordered from here twice - first ordered off the menu and the second time did the "buffet". You get a ton of food for the price so it's a great value. Food quality is very good and they have a nice variety of items. Personally both times I thought it was a little salty but that could just be my taste buds. This was was my first visit to this place. Parking was hard to find because it's over in the MATC Area behind the apartment buildings. Anyway, there's a dining area inside where customers can eat and other restaurants. I liked it, very clean and the service was good. My honey dew boba drink with tapioca was the bomb!!! delicious!!! If you want authentic Taiwanese cooking THIS IS THE PLACE. My parents are from Taiwan and I visit there often (every 1-2yrs, for 2+ weeks at a time) and this place has bento boxes exactly like the ones they have in Taiwan. And their pork buns!!!!! I've been looking for a place that does them right and I have finally found it. If you never had this type of pork buns before you HAVE to try it. It is a staple in Taiwanese street food and they executed it perfectly. At a super cheap price too! ($8/3buns = less than $3 each!) Their pork buns don't show up on their TV menu but it is shown on the Marco Pollo side. I am so lucky I found them while passing through on my way home to Chicago. The owners are also super nice. Prices are more than reasonable. The only thing I didn't like is that they are so far from Chicago. :( Don't overlook this gem!! They are definitely worth it read more

My husband and I were excited to hear about a new place in town serving Taiwanese food, so we went to check it out as soon as we could. Located in the spacious food hall on the ground floor of the Eleven25 at Pabst building, Bento Xpert is an unassuming stall that serves American Chinese food for the lunch special only and Taiwanese menu items all day. It wasn't crowded at all when we visited on a weekend evening for dinner, and we made sure to ask the owner for his recommendations before ordering. There are often an assortment of special dishes written on the chalkboards in Chinese, so make sure to ask about them if you are interested. We ultimately decided to order a soup to start (per the owner's recommendation) and two main entrees to share (three cup chicken and Taiwan Pork Chip bento). The soup was delivered first and came in a cute ceramic bowl with a cap. It was steaming hot and flavorful with pork spare ribs and herbs. At a very reasonable price, each entree came with a generous amount of meat, white rice, and steamed vegetables. The pork chop was crispy and delicious, and the three cup chicken had a perfect spicy kick to it. We even had some leftovers to take home! First time trying Taiwanese food and I was pleasantly surprised considering that the setting is very casual. I had the Taiwanese pork chop bento and my boyfriend got the five spice chicken bento. Both were perfectly seasoned and fried in a light breading that made them addicting. The side veggies were ok, not my favorite because it was kind of a "random mix" and they weren't too warm when we got it, but they weren't terrible either. My boyfriend didn't mind them so he finished mine for me lol. The eggroll was nice and crispy and wasn't too mushy inside like most "American" eggrolls I've had. The bubble tea (milk tea) was sweeter than most milk teas I've had, but tasty nonetheless. Overall, the value is great. You get a huge portion for an inexpensive price, so definitely worth it.
