I've lived in Indy my whole life and I can't believe my first time going here was last week! This is the cutest little gem that covers every thing breakfast, lunch, brunch. The staff is so friendly, the food is DELICIOUS and the menu has everything you could possibly want for those brunch cravings as well as "specials of the day" that will make it even harder to pick out your meal! It has outdoor seating as well as a lot of options inside. I love the vibe of the place, they even sell some of their pictures and art which I think is super cool. Brunch! A cool place to have one. The line to get in is always long, especially on the weekends. Problem is, waiting area is very small and they don't do messaging. They said they tried it before but it didn't work? My recommendation is, still use the messaging system, if the patrons don't show up in 2 min, move to the next one and strictly enforce the 2 min rule. That way, patrons can wait in their vehicle during cold seasons. On to the food!!! I went with old school but with 3 eggs and bacon. Then wifey had the chicken salad. Then we had the cheesecake pancake, which is a must-have here. The waffles at Ruth's are one of a kind. It's somewhere between a waffle and a cookie. Like a waffle with a cookie coating? Difficult to describe but worth the trip. Parking is always a little dicey in this strip mall for weekend brunch because it also houses a first watch. I've never had to wait to be seated more than 20min for Ruth's. This is better for smaller groups (5 and under) due to the tight nature of tables and dining room. It's perfect for 2-4 people. Very cute and homey cafe near Keystone Mall. There was no wait for a table on a Tuesday around noon. The menu offers a wide variety of breakfast (served all day) and lunch options. You can have eggs in the form of omelets, Benedicts, or as is. There are sweet options as well, like pancakes and waffles. For lunch, they have many types sandwiches and salads. I ordered the Lefse because it sounded unique. Crepes but Norwegian style! You can order them in a few different ways. I chose the blueberry and strawberry route. They looked beautiful when they came out. I was hoping they would be filled with something, such as a cream or a jam, but it was just more of the berries. They were very crispy, which I liked, but it was really difficult to cut the crepes with the butter knife I was provided! I was practically sawing them into bite-sized pieces. My mom ordered an eggs Benedict and enjoyed it. The sourdough paired well with the eggs, which were perfectly soft on the inside and firm on the outside. It just has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is fostered by everyone there from the hostesses to the busboy they couldn't be nicer. Now about the food. I can't stop going here because everything I eat is amazing, From their "homemade" items like the Corned beef Hash to their homemade jams and jellies I haven't found an item I wouldn't eat 10 times in a week. If you find yourself on the north side of, or just passing through, Indianapolis this is a must-stop for everyone. But keep in mind that they are only open from 7am - 2pm every day and you can eat an amazing breakfast of Sausage Gravy and Biscuits or try one of their incredible "Benedicts"... I waited WAY too long to try Ruth's Cafe. I've been missing out! Such a cool spot for breakfast or lunch. The inside of the restaurant is nothing like you'd expect. Every each of the place is basically covered in unique art and you can spend forever admiring the small details. The table we sat at had chairs with superheroes all over it and it was so amazing to see the children play I spy with all of the details. Now to the food... YUM! I ordered a basic scramble but this scramble was NOT basic. It was cooked to perfection. I love when places really just get it right and don't try to overdo it. I'm Norwegian and from Iowa. Moved to IN about five years ago and have not been able to find Norwegian food. Someone posted about this place on Facebook so I had to try it! The owner is Norwegian so she has a few items on her menu which I tried and they were delicious! I tried "The Traitor - Jon Snow" which was eggs Benedict on Norwegian potato pancakes! The pancakes were so flavorful and savory! I got it with their side salad and champagne vinaigrette. I also had to try their lefse!! YUM!! With butter and sugar. You can add fruit or Nutella/bananas too! My husband got an omelet, sourdough toast and potatoes which were also super yummy! I'm definitely going back there! I hope they add more Norwegian items!! Gigantic pancakes. Huge. Biggest pancakes I've seen in Indianapolis. The pancakes alone are enough to feed two people, but I didn't know that when ordering one for my child, so we obviously had leftovers. I got the eggs Benedict, which was great. The coffee is strong but not bitter. My eggs Benedict came with an actual salad, which was kind of unusual, but hey: bonus roughage and fiber for breakfast! I can't complain. Finally, I made it to Ruth's Cafe for breakfast and I was so glad!!! I met my colleague for breakfast and was very impressed with what I was walking into. This is a very unique Cafe that has its own style of decor. They have quotes and sayings all around the Cafe and the ceiling has special paper silverware which is very cool. The food was phenomenal and pure heaven!! If you order coffee, you will get a unique coffee mug that has a quote/saying or beautiful decoration. I ordered the Spinach Omelette with fresh fruit and it was probably the best Omelette I have had in all the restaurants I have visited in Indianapolis. The fruit was very fresh and delicious. I'm not usually a biscuits and gravy fan, but the biscuits and gravy were the best I have ever had in a long, long time!! The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and hospitable! The manager, who I assume is Ruth herself, was a delight and cracking jokes with all the patrons that came into the Cafe. How did I work in this area for so long and never know about Ruth's Café? This place is so cute and, moreover, is the perfect place to have breakfast or lunch with friends! I went with a group of 11 on a Friday morning. We called ahead by a few minutes and the staff at Ruth's we're super accommodating to our group. The environment of the restaurant is so cute! There are tons of decorations and brightly colored things all over the walls, the tables all have different designs on them as do the chairs, and every mug in the restaurant is different. Talk about a perfect brunch spot! The menu has some thing for everyone because they serve both breakfast and lunch the entire day. I had such a hard time picking what I wanted but I ended up going with a skillet with corn beef hash, scrambled eggs, and fried potatoes. The taste of everything was delicious, but I do wish that there had been more corn beef hash and a little bit less potatoes in my skillet. I know, I know less potatoes? Don't get me wrong, I love potatoes, but this is a lot of food and I wish I could taste the corn beef hash a little bit more. The service was excellent and all of our food came out in record time, which when you consider that we were a group of 11 people is especially impressive. They had no problem splitting the check 11 ways and anything that we needed, they made sure we got. Long story short, go to Ruth's Café!
