Interior is clean and fun

Stopped here after reading great reviews online, and was not disappointed! The ladies working were so friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. Everything came out quickly, and the restaurant was clean with lots of fun decor. My husband and I split a slice of the coconut cream pie after our meal, and it was phenomenal! Definitely recommend this place.

First time here and stopped based on Yelp reviews. Not disappointed. The ribs were the best outside of Memphis! The brisket was good and tender. The potato salad, Mac and cheese, and both types of slaw are good but drive the 4 vs 5 rating. Our food came out quickly, lady working behind counter was cheerful and helpful. The decor is an old building typical of a small town/ local bbq joint. It was good, but the ribs were spectacular!

Outdoor smoker and food truck

First time in Birmingham and we went out to Leeds to try this rustic southern BBQ diner looking place. They have their own food truck that has a portable smoker so you know they do it right. It's got the southern look and feel inside and just feels very cozy and homey. It was easy to order from the front counter and I got their platter that had the chicken, pork and beef ribs. I got it with a side of fried okra and their deviled eggs. This is a true southern style bbq and the food was great. It's definitely a fast casual type of place since even if you're dining in it's served on disposable plates. I couldn't finish it all so took it to go and they were nice to give a takeout box. Would love to come back again to bring friends if I'm ever in this area again.

Best Brisket in Alabama! RIP Charlie Kirk!!

Surprisingly delicious roadside dive. Randomly stopped in for lunch. Ordered the large brisket sandwich. I couldn't believe my eyes or taste buds when I realized I was just handed the BEST BRISKET I've had in YEARS. Crispy crust, savory mouthwatering protein!!! 4 different homemade sauces on the table. Looking for a reason to work in their area again!!! Well done. God bless you.

I really liked this Tennessee staple. We have a similar place that does burgers flame broiled in the big easy, but they don't touch BBQ with a 10 foot pole. Thank You for the hospitality Mr. Robert!!!

Brisket Cheesesteak and Fries

On our way down to support our son playing football in Leeds we stopped in at Rusty's as a suggestion by our head high school football coach. He stated on his Coach's show that they stopped in and tried their Brisket Cheesesteak while doing a sight visit. So my family and I go in and the atmosphere is like a small town restaurant, which I love. The restaurant is not huge, but had a decent amount of tables and booths. There are also tables outside to utilize on warmer days. We waited in line to place our order at the counter and then they give us our cups and a number and tell us the drinks are on the side of the wall and we'll bring the food out to you. I got the brisket cheesesteak sandwich combo. FYI, you order the sandwich and you can make it a combo for an upcharge. My wife and son got the loaded pork baked potatoes. I want to say we waited 10 minutes or less and they had to the food out to us. I have to admit that the sandwich was pretty good. I do think a little mayo may have made it better, but used the spicy BBQ sauce that was on the table and the sauce was very good! They had a few different sauces to choose from if spicy stuff is not your thing. My wife and son's potatoes were very good they stated and very filling! I tried my wife's potato and I agree that it was good! So if you are in the Leeds area for a sporting event, visiting the shopping outlets, or seeing family then I suggest stopping in and trying it for yourself. The food is good and the staff is friendly!

Nice patio

Decided to eat local and check this place out today. It was wonderful! Definitely going to be one of my stopping places when I commute thru this area while traveling. And the staff couldn't have been nicer!

Pulled pork sandwich was delicious, as were the spicy beans. My husband's rib tips weren't dry or burnt, they were just right.

I'm in the Trussville area often and have noticed this place for a while, but today was the first…read moretime I finally had the chance to try it. For context, I'm a certified KCBS BBQ judge and run a small BBQ catering business. That doesn't make me special, but it does mean I know BBQ. Rodney Scott is well-known in the BBQ world for whole hog, so I've been looking forward to trying his food for a long time. Today was the day. I ordered the 3-meat plate with ribs, pulled pork, and turkey, plus two sides. Ribs: Excellent smoke flavor and seasoning, but very undercooked--they needed at least another hour on the smoker. I received three bones, managed to eat most of two, and left the third. Big disappointment. Turkey: Tender but dry, and it tasted like it had been sliced a while earlier and held. Very neutral flavor with no smoke or seasoning coming through. Just okay, but I'd skip it next time. Pulled pork: Completely underwhelming. Tender, but almost no flavor and none of the smoke I expected, especially after tasting the ribs. Mac and cheese: Grainy and not enjoyable. There are several reasons mac and cheese can turn grainy, but either way, I'd pass on it next time. Collard greens: Surprisingly good, but I was shocked they didn't have pepper juice available--a Southern staple with greens. I'd eat these again, but I'd bring my own pepper juice. Overall: I left disappointed. I mentioned to the staff--who were very friendly--that the meal wasn't good, but it was brushed off. With the level of anticipation I had for Rodney Scott's, this visit didn't come close to expectations. I don't see myself returning.

Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint - Grilled chicken with Mac n cheese and his puppies. All these were completely delicious

If the ratings went higher than 5 stars I would rank it higher. Birmingham is a city filled with…read moregreat BBQ restaurants. If it isn't good BBQ, it won't last. My wife and I ate at Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint for the first time today, and we have found our new favorite BBQ joint. We enjoy watching Pat Martin's tv show, "Life of Fire," so we came with very high expectations. They surpassed them. When we stepped out of the car the smoke BBQ smell was amazing. I ordered a pulled pork shoulder sandwich and asked them to top it with coleslaw and had a side of mac & cheese and bought a second side, cornbread hoecake. Martha ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. I started with the mac & cheese. It was delicious with plenty of cheese and baked to perfection with a crispy cheese top. Really delicious. The cornbread hoecake was incredible it looks like and has the consistency of a pancake. You must order that when you go. Then I picked up the pulled pork shoulder sandwich and sunk my teeth in it. Oh, my! Pulled pork at its best. I added the Jack's Creek vinegar-based sauce to it, and wow, that added even more outstanding flavor to it. I've found my new favorite BBQ sauce. Martha thoroughly enjoyed her sliced brisket sandwich. We both had a bite of each others sandwiches and both were mouth-satisfying delicious. The brisket was perfect. The baked beans were very tasty, too. Everything was about as perfect as you can get at a BBQ joint. Pat Martin knows his BBQ, just as he displays on his show "Life of Fire." Before I could say anything, Martha said, "This is the best BBQ I've ever had. Let's come back for lunch tomorrow." She didn't have to twist my arm. We still like many other delicious BBQ restaurants in Birmingham, and will eat at them again, but Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint is our new favorite. In a city where BBQ is king, Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint sits atop the throne. We returned the next day for lunch. : Martha enjoyed the mouth watering and mouth satisfying Pulled Pork Sandwich topped with coleslaw and deliciously seasoned and crisp homemade chips. I threw down on a half slab of fall off the bone full flavored ribs. I got half of the ribs Memphis dry rub and the other half wet (St. Louis style). They were amazing! My sides were broccoli salad (because I'm a health nut) and homemade fries. And, of course, the delicious cornbread hoecake. We can't wait to come back to B'ham again to try more delicious food here at Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint.

The gentleman working greeted my mom and me right away when we entered the dine in section of the restaurant. They also have a separate section/ bar space for to go orders. I really like this concept! We took a few mins to review the menu. I didn't take long bc I already knew that I wanted ribs. The 4 spare rib tray comes with 2 side. I got baked beans and fries. The sides were okay .. nothing amazing. The dry rub/ sauce ribs had a nice flavor to them. Very tender as well. My mom had the pulled pork tray also with baked beans & fries. She requested her bbq sauce on the side. Their bbq sauce is quite tasty!!!! Drinks had to be purchased separately. I think my mom ordered a Coke and I had a good people pale ale. We dined outside on the back covered patio. It was a beautiful yet kinda windy day. Once our food was brought out , no staff members came to check on us. I felt this was odd , although everyone was nice and welcoming. Idk.. I wasn't too pressed bc I really prefer to be left alone for the most part when I'm out dining. It just would have been pleasant if someone came over at least ONCE! Overall, my 2nd visit here ( my mom's first) was satisfying. I was craving ribs so this definitely hit the spot! She enjoyed her meal. We both needed to go boxes. They have an attached parking lot. It's shared with Bendys and other stores in the area. Parking might be problematic if you visit during a busy time.
