07/17/25 I decided to stop by for lunch and utilize the drive thru. My order was taken quickly and the lady had a friendly tone. It did take slightly longer to get my order as there wasn't anyone else in the drive thru ahead of me. I love their onion rings and they did not disappoint today! The regular pork sandwich was nice too; the bun got a little mushy towards the end. I typically only get ribs from here but they have not been good lately. Overall , I was pleased with my food today. I was really disappointed with my ribs this time. When did they go from grilling ribs to boiling them?! I have no complaints about my sides. They were delicious as always but when it comes to my ribs, I want them grilled not boiled then slapped a few seconds on a grill. I'm not sure if I will ever order them again. read more

I'm not sure if it's because I stopped in at night, but the staff was friendly. The lady at the register was patient with me while i tried deciding what to get. She even suggested my two sides: creamy mad n cheese and baked beans. The lady that brought me my food made sure i had everything, and one of the gentlemen bussing tables checked in with me. The place was clean, and i could see the pride in the state universities decorating the walls. The food came out hot. The portions are crazy here. The pulled pork was tasty, but the smoke flavor was on the wall side. The bbq sauce was delicious. The sweetness didn't overpower the vinegar and vice versa. The Mac n cheese was creamy and hot. The baked beans were good but a little thicker than I'm used to and a little to sweet for me. Overall, my experience was great! read more

Love the food here but the customer service I experienced last night was horrible!! I was going to go to the drive thru but I saw the line was long and decided to go in. I walk in and no customers are in line so I head straight to the register. There are 2 teenagers behind the counter and I'm just standing.....looking around....waiting... The girl behind the register tells "hey you got a customer". I turn around and there's a young man walking behind me and he yells out "nah I'm going to the bathroom". By now I'm like did he just yell that out?? Still looking around at who's going to take my order and the 2 teenagers are still behind the counter goofing off. Finally the young man decides to take my order. By now I'm just ready to go because I was so annoyed. As I'm placing my order the young girl is telling him what to do. I'm thinking to myself instead of goofing off you could've been taking my order. I ordered the large bbq chicken sandwich with extra pickles. While I'm waiting the young girl gets behind the young man and starts dancing up on him with her tongue out. I wanted to ask for a refund so bad but decide not to. I understand teenagers need jobs but in that same instance, they need to know how to act at their jobs. Full Moon is part one of our road trip adventures in trying BBQ styles from other states. What really started this was my buddy had never heard of Alabama "White Sauce". I'm a native Texan and have judged BBQ competitions in the past. Full Moon has accolades from Huffington Post and Ebony Magazine claiming top 10 BBQ in the US; even says it right there on your drink cup! WOW, and no, no, and no. First up is the St. Louis style Ribs; my personal favorite actually. Ribs were nice but perhaps slightly undercooked. You look for that perfect tear off the bone; versus an overcooked rib where the meat just falls off at touch. It was close to perfection; more than most places can muster these days. Thinking back, I may have had Alabama White once in the past. FM's Chicken paired gloriously with the sauce. Adjacent diner described it as a thicker more subtle ranch with a mayo like consistency. Onto the Pulled Pork which was dry as sandpaper. Dipping it in the BBQ sauce helped somewhat but it was a fail for the $11 I spent on 1/2lb. I always write who judges a BBQ restaurant by sides; in this case it helped them get to a three star rating for this visit. Deviled Eggs as an actual side instead of an appetizer upcharge was brilliant. Other sides like Collards, Mac N Cheese, Onion Rings, and Baked Beans rounded out solid dishes. Onto the "famous" Cookies; they weren't that good either. Seems like they had been made the day before; too crisp and tough. We bought a bag of 6 (?) to share and we threw the rest away. read more

I dined in at the Trussville Full Moon location on this past Sunday. I paid $28.00 for my meal and it was absolutely awful. The Mac & cheese was loose, the squash casserole was dry and the small ribs were cold had no seasonings and tasted as if it had been boiled. The sauce was tasteless just as everything else that I ordered. The best Full Moon Restaurants in Birmingham are the 6th Avenue South, GreenSprings and Fultondale location. I was total disappointed with the Trussville location. I will never go that location again. My friend who was with me didn't enjoy her meal either. The fries were cold and the bbq pork was lukewarm and tasteless. I felt so bad because I suggested the Trussville location. I left a review on the website for Full Moon customer service, but never heard from them. Oh well, the food nor customer service is not any good and really deserve 0 stars. Never again!! read more

I frequent the Full Moon Hoover location but this one is closer to home. Service is great! I love how expansive Full Moon's menu is!!! There is something for EVERYONE in your family. Notable mentions are their pulled pork sandwich (UNDEFEATED, incredible, huge!!), bbq pork baker (potato, MASSIVE), pimento cheese, mac and cheese (not just your regular boring mac, its incredible!), sweet potato casserole (Thursdays), squash casserole (Wednesdays), love me tenders, and their signature BBQ sauce I keep in my fridge year round. LETS TALK PIE! Full Moons portions are incredibly large, you get more than what you pay for here. But if there's some slim chance that you can eat pie after you've finished your plate.... you're in luck. I have had every single flavor they offer and my favorite is the coconut! The key lime is delicious and doesn't have that "back of the jaw" tartness that most key limes do. The chocolate pie is also amazing!! read more

Not Bar B Que!!! The ribs here taste like they are just baked in the oven, not over any pit or smoker or grill. The only thing that remotely makes them close to BBQ is the sauce. Not nearly good enough for what you pay! Jim N Nick's is far superior. The sides here also taste canned/frozen/pre-made and not fresh or house made in the slightest. After trying Full Moon several time, I came to a conclusion that I'm a picky eater when it comes to eating bbq. It seems like there ribs don't have any type of flavor or seasoning in my opinion. There bbq sauce is more thin than thick which I'm a custom to having. I do appreciate them having good side items like there collard greens and they have some delicious key lime pie. Can't believe I haven't reviewed Full Moon yet. It actually surprised me to see it listed as available! We were quite happy when one opened in Trussville. My wife loves the bbq pork nachos, and I love their bbq brisket plate, minus the chow chow (not a big fan of it). The in-laws love their potato bakers. The brisket is great, but I wish when you got it to go you could get more sauce on them. I always get the mac and cheese, which is good, and either collard greens or fries as the side. The drive through can take some time, as there is almost always a line. But the food is good, and I'm sure we'll be back. read more

I frequently visit this location and lately have had hits/misses. I stopped in yesterday on a Saturday night and ordered ribs and chicken tenders. I waited in the drive thru over thirty minutes and My ribs were so small and my chicken tenders and fries were so hard that I could not even eat them. Ok, full transparency, this review came to be based on a craving..... I've been to this location a few times and have always used the drive through. They aren't Chick-fil-a efficient, but given they are serving cook to order BBQ that would be a hard task to pull off. That being said, these guys are exceptionally efficient with what they are doing and the wait can be a few minutes, it's well worth the product they deliver. So, back to the story, arriving in the drive through and waiting (briefly) for them to ask for my order. Another plus, the speaker system they have installed is top of the line .... clearly able to hear everything they say and based on the accuracy of my order can assume they are able to clearly hear me .... none of the Charlie Brown parents/teachers talking thing going on here. Pulled forward and waited my turn. Prepped my money and had it ready to go and once I made it to the window was greeted pleasantly and taken care of very quickly. Trussville finally has a Full Moon! And based on the cars in the parking lot and in the drive-thru, you would think ti was the only restaurant in town! We stopped by one Sunday after church (around 2PM) and the line inside was wrapped around the inside of the store. I kid you not...wrapped around inside and snaking in between tables. We stood there for a few minutes, and decided we didn't want BBQ that bad. We tried again one Wednesday around 8:15PM, and while the drive-thru line was long, the line inside wasn't bad. We were able to order and find a table with relative ease. Food was good (on par with what you'd expect at a Full Moon). This has to be the best Barbecue place in Trussville, Always fresh always hot food and I always have games on the TV. I ordered a kids chicken (all white) sandwich with white sauce meal with deviled eggs and asked for a kids drink as well. They tried to tell me i couldn't order all white meat on the sandwich for kids meals (i've done so plenty of times for an up charge) So he got his manager and they fixed it. Then he proceeded to tell me my total went from like $7 to around $11 and so i pointed out the total was way higher than it should be. He responded with the fact they were out of kids drinks and had to charge me for a regular. (umm that's not mu fault?) Thankfully he ended up adjusting the price and charged me for a kids drink. That was kind of him. But they left out my white sauce and gave me barely any chicken on the sandwich. I guess they think kids don't eat? This place is a great place to get great meat . They have anything from a salad to a huge meat barbecue plate. A great asset to Trussville. There sweet tea is really good also. They have very good pie here. Try the key lime. Or choc or coconut. All great pies. The only thing I have ever got here I don't like is chips and queso . Try the chow chow. Make It Right! I am so very tired of this restaurant serving bad food not cooked correctly, overcharging for items and the complete bad treatment by the staff. I spent about $80 on food, first off not what I ordered, and what was delivered was found fatty and under cooked (frightening when speaking of pork). This time the sides did come as ordered and in the sizes I ordered, and was correctly charged for, this is not usual at all. I ordered Baby-back ribs and received short ribs..... I don't like how they are made, never eat them because I want and order Baby-back ribs. Called to make my complaint and was handed off to someone who was "supposedly" a manager and after I called her out for laughing at me while telling me I could bring the food back she suddenly was "part of the management team." The conversation was not that of someone who could solve a problem, even should she want to. I then wait 5 minutes to speak to the owner (I seriously have my doubts). He basically said sorry, he would replace the ribs... because yes driving back down there to get even sketcher food was top of my list to do. I am put out money and time for the error they make, and he is willing to replace the food. Oh yeah! I asked him to make it right for the next customer, I was not looking for free food, I am just plain old fashioned tired of bad service and treatment. This business unit should close, the employees don't want to work and take it out on customers, the managers make false promises, knowing driving back in ridiculous Trussville traffic is too much after a hard day at work, not to mention, then making the mistake and having the expectation of me to go even further with you down that unhappy trail. I supported during COVID, not complaining being supportive, during tough times for businesses. Enough is enough. I am not asking for anything more than what I am promised by way of any restaurant.... Receiving food cooked properly, charged fairly, and delivered to me without yelling, lying or cheating.
