Famous cheeseburger and hand-cut fresh fries
Rhett B.

I reviewed Shirley's Mainline BBQ last week about the ribs, potato salad, and beans and overall restaurant. Today, was the Famous Cheeseburger with fries. It was the lunch special today. The burger was a fresh-made patty and came with fries. You cannot find a better burger with fries and a drink for $6.50. The burger itself is pretty magnificent but what bumps the rating up from a 4-star to a 5-star are the fries. Fresh, home-cut, and made to order, these are possibly the best fries I've ever had from a restaurant. Most of us have had fries from several restaurants but these are on a different level. The only drawback is I wish I would have been given more.

Steak special

They were very very busy tonight. This is a family establishment & the customers all seemed to enjoy their food. It being a Friday night, I saw a lot of orders for steak & ribs. My neighbor and I went again. He ordered the hamburger steak with onions & gravy and a baked potato. Their baked potatoes are nearly a pound y'all. The entrees are brought out on hard plastic plates, while the salads & drinks are in Styrofoam containers. The steak I ordered was marinated a long time, so very tender. No need for salt or steak sauce. I ordered a medium rare steak & it was brought out as medium rare to medium, which is fine! It had a great flavor. Even though the place was busy, our drinks never got below half full. The young man waiting on us also was clearing tables - yet he was very attentive. That's a big plus. The next table over, a sheriffs deputy had a smile on his face as he was enjoying his ribs. I may try those next time.

Was not impressed with what we got. Wasn't very fresh, burger was just a frozen cheap patty.

The hand pies are one of a kind yum. When we were leaving the restaurant from having lunch we…read moredecided to buy 2 of them, peach and apple. Had them the next 3 days and they were awesome. We were told to air fry them for around 3-4 minutes and let me tell you... we aren't big sweet eaters but these pies will have us coming back. Next we went there for the hamburger. This is our first time to ever visit the Greasy Cove. My wife and I split a cheeseburger with onion, tomato, pickle , lettuce ketchup, mayo and we added mustard. The homemade fries we ordered ($4.00) on the side came in their own basket. Piping hot and fresh. I told my wife they served too large a portion. We finished them all. The burger patty was cooked on a flat top, so the edges were crispy and they hung over the bun. So good. This was our first visit and we have noticed Greasy Cove on different social media platforms for a couple of years and finally decided to try them as we passed down 59 South and took the 15-20 minute drive. Thought I would share our experience with a review... by the way we arrived at 10:45 for our "lunch" to try the burger and left so happy. Greasy Cove..!

The cantaloupe was not ripe and very hard and crunchy, and the peaches smelled good, but they were crunchy and not ripe. I know it's not full season on these that we bought, but if you can't offer better than that, stop selling junk. A wasted trip.
