What a reasonably priced brunch with plenty of variety, fantastic views, live jazz, and free-flowing mimosas for $58! The jazz brunch buffet is only on Sundays. I usually am not a big buffet fan but was extremely curious after hearing about this brunch for many years. Outside of the usual brunch buffet station suspects (waffle, salad, dessert, omelette, and meat cutting stations) there was a fresh raw oyster bar with oyster shuckers live & in person with fresh shrimp cocktail. Found a hair in my $53 Chilean sea bass. When told to the waiter about it 15 min after delivered when he came by after first quick check in, he apologized and offered a replacement. Since my dining companions were well into their meal and given the time to replace I declined. He delivered a dessert we did not request as a "make good." Given we ordered 3 predinner cocktails, a $61bottle of wine , a pricey crabcake to share, 3 salads and 2 other $53 Chilean seabass dinners, this seems like a pretty weak response. A group up of us had reservations at 1pm for the afternoon brunch. We were seated right away and they have an amazing view of Baltimore harbor !!! A parking garage sits next to their restaurant and they offer discount parking ($10). They have several stations: Cocktail Shrimp & Raw shucked Oysters. Omelette station Dessert section Main area buffet that has fresh fruit, salad, biscuits, smoked salmon, applewood bacon to name a few. A jazz band plays during each brunch time (10:30am - 12:00 or 1pm-2:30pm). This restaurant seems to be kind of a landmark in Baltimore's inner harbor. It is located above the inner harbor marina and the view from the table is excellent. We ordered the Chesapeake bay crab dip as an appetizer and it was delicious and packed with flavor. For dinner we got the braised short rib with seasonal vegetables, a crab cake with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. My partner really enjoyed the braised rib and I did get to taste it and it was really good. The crab cake and mashed potatoes were perfect. The potatoes were creamy and seasoned, and the crab cake was cooked perfectly and had a great sauce. The salad was great and I define a good Caesar based off the dressing first, then the croutons and parm ratio and they did not disappoint. I did ask for a side of dressing because I'm just a dressing person. Our waiter was great and the meal came out fairly quickly, we were still enjoying our apps. I had the chef make me an omelette with crab, shrimp, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheese, and it was amazing!!!! I also loved the scallop/shrimp Mac and cheese and the roasted veggies were so good! The carving station also had the best ham! I didn't get to try the dessert table because I was too busy enjoying mimosas but it looked delicious. They had assorted pastries, cakes, and cookies! The bottomless mimosas were included in the brunch deal which made my day even better! I love a good bottomless brunch. Overall, I spent about $150 (including tip) for two people which isn't bad. I usually don't care for them, but the Rusty Scupper knows what they're doing. A month later and I'm still dreaming about the warm butter cake. This cake is the equivalent of a warm buttery hug that you didn't know you needed, but totally did. The peach cake is also good, but if you're picking one, it has to be the butter cake. I came here after a visit to the Aquarium at the Baltimore Harbor for dinner. I have seen this place across the water for years and have always been curious about it. Gregory was my server and he did an amazing job. I ordered a half dozen oysters which were really good. You can tell how fresh they are. For my main course I ordered blackened rockfish and asparagus. The fish was nice and flaky. It tasted buttery and had a nice spice to it. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. For the price, however, the dishes did not live up to expectations. Of course we ordered lots of seafood dishes - crab and oysters. But flavor wise, our orders were not great. The Maryland Crab soup was brothy and not pasty or acidic, with a scoop of shredded C grade crab meat...The warm fresh bread was the finishing touch for the soup to sop up the liquid. Desert was Key lime pie single serving in a crusty uncooked serving. Although delightful, it was not tart enough and nicely plated. Overall, the environment is a reason to return. I hadn't been to Rusty Scupper in a decade -- since I took out of town guests to enjoy the fabulous water views. Although my dinner companion was pleased with his experience, mine wasn't all I hoped it would be. I ordered the Baltimore fish fry, and the cod was perfect, but the fries were unappealing enough that I didn't eat them. By the time I was able to ask for cocktail sauce, my fried shrimp were cold and hard. What really put a damper on the evening for me was the noise created by the furniture that was being moved around on the upper level. It took me back to my student days in a cruddy apartment where I could hear every chair scrape along the floor from the apartment above me. But what they were moving in the restaurant was large furniture, by the sound of it. And they didn't pick it up. They scraped it along the floor. I felt like the noise went on for 10 minutes. Someone should tell them about furniture slider cups, so they don't have to subject diners, who may be looking to have an intimate meal experience, to the unwarranted noise. read more

Interior: great view of Inner Harbor if you could get a window-side table. Nostalgic dockyard station style decor with large mahogany frames. Lighting was comfortably ambient. Service: quick, attentive, friendly. My waitress knew the menu well. Food: Appetizer---two types of Canadian oysters, both tasted fresh. The smaller ones packed more briney flavor, while the larger ones were sweet and creamy tone, but a bit bland. Cocktail---the Scupper Sunset, tasted almost like a fruit juice. Not much feeling of alcohol to speak of. Food---ordered the Chilean sea bass with mashed potatoes and assorted vegetable. Also added a lobster tail. The dish was made well overall. Chilean sea bass had slight char and crispy surface, while remaining creamy and retaining the signature saltwater taste of the fish inside, with refreshing zest of lemon beurre blanc. At one side of the fillet bun it was a little dry though. I wish it were skin-on given the cooking technique. Mashed potatoes were creamy, seasoned well, literally melting in the mouth. Lobster tail was a bit too salty, but doneness was perfect; meat was quite bouncy in the mouth. Overall: I would say 3.5 stars, if price is an important factor, then maybe 3 stars since one has to spend around $100 for a decent two-course meal with a cocktail. But my thought process is that almost all decent Inner Harbor restaurants are expensive. If you can't afford the trip to Fells Point and had to dine at Inner Harbor, better spend the money here than elsewhere. read more
