Rusty Rooster Inc. Aug 2024 updated menu prices.

Serves amazing chicken and chicken tenders with a SPICY option, plenty of food in single meals, combos, and extras. Perfect place to get FRESH made catfish with sides and hush puppies!

Kids Catfish Plate-perfect size for me.

I love Rusty Rooster's catfish. I finally figured out how to order it, because I only want one piece. The kid's meal! One big piece of perfectly cornmeal crusted fish, a bag of fries, a drink, a cookie, a hushpuppy, limes and tarter sauce. $5 and some change. See picture. Everything was delicious.

Their menu is average sized with apps, a senior menu, kids menu, salads, burgers/sandwiches, pastas, entrees and desserts. They also have a happy hour menu with specials ranging from $1 - $9. They even have cocktails with Power Plant themed names. I was in the mood for steak and unfortunately this town seems to be void of steaks for some reason; however, the Power Plant offers one on their menu. I chose a steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. They indicated the steak of the day was a ribeye, but I've never seen a ribeye shaped like this before, it was long and skinny like a skirt steak, or a strip. Ribeye - tender for the most part and tasty. Almost tasted like a flat iron steak, but somehow this was actually a ribeye despite its unusual shape. Long piece of gristle across one entire side and fat cap at the end. This 12oz steak was more like 9 oz after removing all of that. Green beans - basic canned beans with several bacon chunks Mashed potatoes- chunky with brown gravy. The bread that comes with this is basically 2 ends of a griddled hot dog bun. Service was ok as the waitress came around a couple of times to check on me. She forgot to ask me how I wanted the steak cooked, and also came back to tell me she originally gave me the wrong price for it. It ended up being around $25, as opposed to $22 as she originally indicated. I also added a homemade brownie with ice cream to go. This was a pretty average brownie dessert.

All the spots in houston and Schulze's bbq is up there with any of them if not the best! I'm starting to wonder if Texas monthly is even a legit thing. Because this place could easily be number one. I'm surprised I've never heard of them because this is some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Some of the best customer service too! I'm so glad I stopped in. This will be my go to every single time when I'm in Seguin, Texas. Food: everything was phenomenal! The brisket was made to perfection absolutely some of the best brisket I've ever had. The jalapeño sausage, I've never had a jalapeño sausage that good! The cheese was bursting out of the seam! The tater salad oh my God! Talk about a blast from the past if you're from Houston Texas, and remember the old Heights camp house BBQ, you will remember they had Camp house potatoes. They tasted exactly the same wow I was so happy to try that because I never thought I'd have a dish like that again in my life. The brisket rice was OK. I probably would get something else. The banana pudding was phenomenal. This is some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Easy five star review! The customer service was great. The line moved quickly and everyone was extremely nice. I will go out of my way to come here and get barbecue every single time when I'm at Seguin, Texas. This should be on Texas monthly, this should be on everyone's radar if you love barbecue! Once again, thank y'all for the amazing customer service and amazing food!

Both brisket and ribs had a good flavor. The sauce was just right for me as well, not too sweet and not too savory. We ended the meal with a slice of their homemade pecan pie. Let me tell you, it was worth it! Walk in and its immediately obvious this is a local joint that only worries about the food and not the ambiance. Which is perfect: spend less time ensuring your tables match and more time focused on your bar-b-q. Service was friendly without being obnoxious, you order at the counter and they bring you the meal. We decided to get two 2 meat plates so we could try all four meats (math is fun!). The plates come with two sides, so we got the classics: mac n cheese, potato salad, black eyed peas and okra gumbo. Everything was fantastic. Juicy brisket, fall off the bone ribs and chicken and the sausage was amazing! The sauce is a great compliment to the meat, it doesnt cover up the flavor like some chain restaurants need to do. We got the peach cobbler for dessert and while it was tasty, we both would have preferred it warm instead of cold. Overall this place is worth the drive out and we will be back next time we are in the area.
