The last time I ate at RR was so good. I tried the fish combo yesterday and needless to say it was like eating fish jerky. If you can't keep the fish fresh don't serve it. I would of waited however long I needed to for them to fry it fresh. Then they forgot my fries and other side. Waited an additional 10 minutes for them to bring it out to me. Stopped in on the way back to Austin. Got the gizzards and gravy, drive thru, it took an extra few minutes to get but they were freshly hot. Gravy was good and batter was perfect for gizzards. Terrible service. I placed an order and was told it would take 10 minutes, when I checked on it 20 minutes later an employee said "It's coming!" in a very rude manner. After 45 minutes I went back inside and politely requested a refund. The employee was confrontational and just plain mean. I finally got a partial refund and as I was walking away, the employee said "And don't come back." The entire experience was aggressive and disrespectful, I won't be coming back. read more

We decided to order here online as a last resort and of course was disappointed. We ordered the catfish meal and chicken tenders and our food was cold. The woman blamed us for the food being cold saying we showed up late to get it when it was only by a few min. We asked if our food was placed under the lamp and she insisted that it was but if it was it wouldn't have been cold like it was. We asked for rolls when we ordered and had received biscuits instead... not a big deal we will just exchange them but she gave us attitude when we asked about it and wanted proof that we had put rolls and not biscuits. Open early,this place got five stars on Google. I normally drift towards ketchup on my chicken strips because of the low carbs,but their white gravy was so good it would've been a shame to miss it. This is my favorite fried chicken stop. I love their fried pickles and their corn nuggets. Their tenders are pretty decent they taste better than sonic or Dairy Queen's that's for sure. They have really good customer service. They have the best sweet tea in town and they have really good funnel fries as well and the shrimp platter is pretty great. read more

Use to consider this a good place to go, but today a co-worker found a roach egg in their mash potatoes! All of us couldn't finish our meal after that so we all threw it away. Called the Luling restaurant so they would take the potatoes off and not serve anyone else. I was told to call back tomorrow because the manager wasn't there today! I'm certain and hopeful that the manager would have handled this situation differently. Our office use to go there at least once a week, I think we will be choosing different places from now on. UPDATE: The manager had the employee call us back wanting proof and wanted us to bring the food back. Since we are at an office, we don't have time to take back. So we took pictures. Decided to try a local fried chicken place, so we drove about 30 minutes to find this place after it popped up on Yelp.... And let me just say, I LOVE IT!!! The food is always fresh and hot. Customer service is great and place is quaint and comfy. But the food is soooo good! I always get the two piece dark and sometimes the half pint of liver and gizzards. So. My wife, kids and I pulled into the parking lot here on our way to the Coast about two weeks ago and I swore I'd write a Yelp about it because it was SO GOOD, so here it is. It's on 183 there across from the painted pumpjacks. Anyway, I have to say that they had the VERY best Fried Chicken and Fried shrimp I have had in AGES. My mother in law, who's a very accomplished chef, says the best fried chicken in Austin (anyway) is at Top Knotch. I say this place whups that hands down. They hand bread everything right there in front of you, then fry it. And the owners run this location. The daughter of the owners was at the register. I've only once ever had better fried chicken and that was at a party in East Texas, so I can't tell you how to get it but trust me on this: The Rusty Rooster rocks. Fortunately, there are a few other locations in like Giddings and maybe Lockhart or something so look for them. Anyway, it was really delicious. Fries were good after you put salt on them. Chicken wasn't seasoned or crispy. Batter on the fried chicken had no taste. You had to remove all the batter before eating and that's supposed to be the best part about fried chicken. Single bathroom is located outside. Clean place though. read more
