Very nice place. Posters, plaques, signs hanging on the walls. The first time inside was yesterday Friday 03/ 01/2024. Old cartoons on one screen and 80s wrestling on the other. Nice setup with the front main entrance, the eating area classic old wood top and thick metal frames that won't bend . Hotdogs were great as was the cupcakes and cheese bars. Mrs Cox, one x, is a charming lady. I could have talked to Mrs. Cox for hours. Great place.

First off, how cute is this place!!!! Such a sweet small town spot. But the food was equally as good! Owners are super friendly and just make you feel right at home. Highly recommend the chili cheese potatoes. So good!! Didn't take a picture cause we ate it up.

Yum yum!! Husband saw this little place and thought it would be a nice little stop and I'm so glad we did!! Burgers, dogs, desserts, and chips/drinks. $0.79 tea. We ordered a Great American Bandstand hot dog and a burger. Both came with chips. The chili on the hot dog was so good. This thing was bursting with flavor. The burger was the same way. Our total check was less than $14 for two people. All outdoor picnic table seating under the awning of an old gas station (1920's). All painted and fixed up. Ceiling fans. 50's music playing. A great experience all around.

Service was excellent, and so accommodating. Very glad we checked them out on our way through town.

    Hamburger was delicious!

Service and food was so good! Served hot and with a smile! Diffently recommend this place!

We were for the watermelon festival, the restaurant is very clean and well ACed. Yep that's very important to us. Surprising good decor and food. Simple hotdog with chili. A great stop to get good food and relax

Outstanding. Great burger. Even better chili dog. Very friendly owners and staff. Go here if you can.

    The beautiful interior

Such a gem. We were traveling from San Antonio to n and we wanted something besides the typical barbecue or Mexican food. The good thing about coming at lunch rush hour was I walked by every table and every basket looked better than the rest. By the time I went to the counter I wanted everything. I settled with a hot dog and a side salad and my husband chose a burger. None was run of mill. There were 4or 5 burgers to chose from and 4 or 5 hot dogs. Let me tell you. I was expecting a basic hot dog but these are not. The meat was lean, not greasy and so flavorful. I chose my dog with bacon, jalepenoes and ranch. Delicious. The salad had the most beautiful tomatoes and they had great home made dressings. My husband had a jalepeno concoction and he loved it too. We left stuffed and each meal was under $10 which is unheard of now days. The shop is adorable like a walk back into the 1960's drugstore. Such a great surprise!

My husband ordered the wicked dog and loved it. I had a bite and can see why. I had the chicken strip combo and it's the best I've ever had. The chicken strips were juicy, flavorful and large. We substituted the mac and cheese and it was so good, it ruined all other mac and cheese forever. It was that good. Creamy, flavorful and plentiful. Our cashier, who was very friendly, also threw in extra fries, which were good. We ordered a gold bar pastry, which is kinda like a brownie with other stuff in it, including coconut. Incredible flavor! And my husband ordered a banana pudding, which, you guessed it, was heavenly (no photo, sorry). Plenty of comfortable seating. The restaurant was spotless and it's right off 35. I'm planning our next trip!

Not bad but I wish it was a bit more of the plump hot dogs instead of standard. The bun was buttery and good. The wings were standard. Not bad. The asada fries were very salty. I think it was the cheese but can't be for sure but it wasn't the fries. The Mac and cheese was ok. I think it was the same cheese as the asada. Didn't stand out. Now for the best part...the tenders are good. The coating is delicious and you can tell they season or marinate it. They were tender and juicy. No complaints. Also, we were excited to try the cinnamon rolls however, the 2 they had out there looked older and dry; not appetizing so we didn't get any. The atmosphere is cozy with fountain drink machine and plenty of seating. Customer service was good. They don't accept bills larger than $20. Just FYI.

It was my first time trying Sonoran hot dogs so it was a lot to take in with the different flavors in every bite. It's very much a loaded hot dog and has all the yummy ingredients you'd want with the birria soup on the side to dip. Very tasty, the bacon wrapped hot dog was really good on its own, but put together, you have yourself a savory flavor bomb in your mouth. Their fries are also something to rave about. The sauce has a nice garlic flavor with some heat kick to it. Their agua fresca was very refreshing, they change the flavor on a weekly basis. I would like to return to try their burritos and tacos. This is a food truck but there is a covered outdoor seating area with several tables and chairs nearby.

While we were waiting for our food, it suddenly became a whole scene, it was National Hot Dog Day, and the line just kept growing and growing. People were fully committed too, hot dog shirts, hot dog hats, I'm pretty sure I saw a walking hot dog at one point. Add in folks bringing their own ice chests of beer and it felt like a little hot dog party. We decided to go big and ordered every kind of dog they make so we could share and try them all. A super sweet lady brought our order out to us, which I loved. No waiting around trying to hear someone shout out your name. And let me tell you, every single one was damn good. You really can't go wrong here. My favorite ended up being the classic chili cheese dog, because apparently I like to keep it old school, ha. But seriously, Mr. T-Loc knows exactly what he's doing with his chili recipe! I also tried an agua fresca for the first time and now I get the hype. So refreshing and good. Next time, I've got my eye on one of those big burritos because they looked crazy good, no joke. Accessibility wise, they do have accessible parking, which is a huge plus. The seating is a mix of circular and standard picnic tables, some with shade, but not the most wheelchair-friendly setup. They do have a ramp up to the covered area and I made it work by parking at an angle at the end of a table, nothing was getting between me and those dogs. Bottom line, this is a must try spot if you're craving great food and don't skip on the fresh made agua fresca!

I go one day when the card reader isn't working. I hand the carhop a card and a cash tip. Immediately, she goes into a speech about not being allowed to "pay two ways". Now a carhop is almost guaranteed to stare at you. Let us not forget their inability to take an order. This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

We got tots to share for the table, and I will say these are the best tator tots I've have in a very long time! My daughter, who is 9, just wanted a playing burger with cheese- which was technically not on the menu- but they were so kind to switch things up. Customer service was great, and the cashier was very patient and explain everything to us. We loved the decor- which was very Godfather themed. There are a couple seat in doors, but more seating outside with umbrellas at each table. I highly recommend The Dogfather to anyone who loves hotdogs and great burgers.
