This building seems to rotate businesses, and after trying, I really hope they remain in this location! Based on the crowd on a Wednesday night, and the lively atmosphere, I'm sure they will for years to come! MAJOR PROPS! My friend is celiac and they not just accommodated, but the manager came to speak with her who was also celiac. Hands down the BEST service in Apache Junction regarding dietary restrictions and allergies. What we ordered: - Pair of Prickly Pear Margarita: loved the sweet and slight tart flavor, definitely have another when I return. A great beverage to toast to life and catch up with a friend. - Southwest Chicken Salad (modifications to be gluten-free safe): my friend said it was delicious, and loved that she could eat with confidence after speaking with the manager - Sonoran Burger: they will only cook to medium - medium well due to a flattop, but it was still a tasty burger! Got bounced by a short, old, fat, bald guy (general manager? hall monitor? liquor-license whisperer?) who was clearly enjoying a personal renaissance of authority because I dared to possess half of a Dutch Bros iced coffee. This was after I explained to the absolutely lovely hostess that we were coming straight from church and hadn't had time to finish it, and she said it was fine. Apparently her authority only extended to the host stand and not to the Liquor License Enforcement Division of One Man. He came power‑strutting across the room like he'd just been alerted to a moonshine sting operation, and announced in his best I-take-myself-extremely-seriously voice: "I can't let you in here with that. We could lose our liquor license. I can't prove you don't have alcohol in it." First of all, calm down, Barney Fife. That's only if you KNOWINGLY allow alcohol to be brought in. That's not a gray area, that's literally the law. It's also a 25‑second Google, but I guess that was too much to ask during his heroic crusade against the Dutch Bros Cartel. By that logic, you should also be confiscating baby bottles, sippy cups, and Capri Suns before they bring down your entire establishment. Anyhow, yes...restaurants can have whatever policies they want. Fine. Cool. Love that for them. My issue is the tone. The delivery. The implication that we were about to reenact Prohibition-era bootlegging. Here we are: mid‑50s, with my 70‑year‑old mother‑in‑law, fresh from afternoon church at 1:00 p.m., sober as a church mouse (yes, I know I'm mixing metaphors), dressed in our Sunday best...and we're basically being treated like we're smuggling bathtub gin into a speakeasy. Sir. Please. The most dangerous thing we were carrying was iced coffee and a mild sense of optimism. So yeah...thanks but no thanks. We quietly left, caused no scene, didn't argue, didn't flip tables or quote statutes (cough, cough) A.R.S. § 4‑244, and headed to the BBQ place a half mile up the road. After heading back to Phoenix from Boyce Thompson Arboretum, we stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner. The happy hour beer deals were good and the beer was cold. The service was decent but I did notice that our server seemed to have a pretty large number of tables. They have a very large patio with a great view of the mountains and a garage door type window that opens to the inside. They have bands on the weekend but we still got to enjoy a lot of good country music. The food wasn't special. We had the pickle chips with spicy ranch (that costs $1.00), beer brat with fries, and classic burger with a side salad. Nothing was hot or even warm honestly. Our food all came out together so I'm not sure if it just sat there or it's never to temperature. The flavors were really good so it would have been much better hot. The burger and brat were both somewhat dry and it took multiple people and multiple requests to get ketchup and extra mustard. First time visit. We arrived about 7pm on a Monday and it was packed inside so we had to wait about 15 mins for a table. Once seated our server came within a few minutes to take our drink orders, she was attentive to our needs and was friendly. It was worth the wait! As it being a saloon it was dark, majority of table are high rise with bar stools and there is live music on Friday and Saturday nights. I ordered Pretzel Bites with Hatch queso it was superb to say the least. The bites were perfect size and there were plenty of them. The queso had just the right amount of heat from the green chiles AND it all came out hot (no lukewarm). One son ordered Southwest Philly Cheesesteak and he was very happy to eat the whole thing. It also arrived hot piled high with stacks of beef, plenty of provolone cheese, red & green bell peppers and jalapeños on top. It came with their seasoned crinkle fries, we all sampled his fries and agreed they were excellent. Other son ordered Steak Tacos he also enjoyed his dish. The steak was chopped into small pieces (like for carne asada), it was soft. Flavor was nice and seasoned, on top was lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. It came with 2 tacos made with small flour tortillas, he said they would have been better with corn tortillas. Also with a small ear of corn. After we all cleaned our plates we ordered dessert of Funnel Cake Fries with caramel drizzle. Again a nice amount of the fries, drizzle and sprinkled with powdered sugar. (A slight sprinkle of cinnamon would've knocked these out of the park). The fries weren't huge (as seen in picture), but there was more than enough for the 3 of us. There is an outside patio, it wasn't open due to rain. Women's restroom could use a little more attention. Lots of tissue bits and paper towels on the floor as trash can was overflowing. Hit the Rusty Buckle Saloon on a Sunday afternoon and this place is the real deal! Rolled in and grabbed a table in their massive, shaded beer garden--one of the best outdoor setups in the Valley. Live country music at the perfect volume; great chill vibe with plenty of people but never felt crowded. Food was killer all around. The chili is legendary: rich, smoky, hearty with a nice slow burn; easily top-3 chili I've ever had in Arizona. My friends demolished the sliders and wouldn't shut up about how juicy and flavorful they were (that house sauce is money). I also ordered the beer-brined chicken wings and holy cow; these things are massive! Meaty, fall-off-the-bone tender. Best wings I've had in a long time; could've eaten two orders by myself. Finally made it to @rustybucklesaloon thanks to a good friend @tastesofaz for inviting me to dinner. This one had been on my list for quite some time now. Apache Junction has a neighborhood gem! Chef @mark_coakley is serving up some next level, good ol' southern bar eats that didn't disappoint. What a way to unwind and enjoy the vibe with friends or family. My highlight was the Prickly Pear Margarita. Just what I needed after a long days work. You can taste the prickly flavor and it packs a punch. Now that's a drank! The RB Prime Rib Dip took the win for me. The bread was perfectly toasted, prime rib was seasoned, juicy and packed inside the toasted bun. Then they topped it with melted provolone all warm and bubbly on the top as they bring it to the table. Now dip that into that flavorful Au jus. Damn! My tastebuds were excited. I ordered the garlic parmesan wings, and what I got was a plate of wings sitting in a puddle of butter with a little bit of garlic and absolutely zero trace of parmesan or anything else. It was literally just butter and garlic. No flavor balance, no seasoning, nothing close to what was advertised. It was honestly disgusting. My friends and family know me as the guy who eats everything, and I came in starving, but after forcing down two wings I had to stop because it was making me feel sick. To make matters worse, the meat itself tasted off, almost like it was going bad. I didn't eat the rest of the night and ended up feeling sick afterward. I came here on the Yelp recommendations. I had my eye on that Southwest Cheesesteak. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated in the bar area. We were on a Prickly Pear kick, so we got the margaritas. Good prickly pear flavor!! I ordered the SW Cheesesteak and the wife got the SW salad with fried chicken. They subbed her the fried chicken and ranch and that was good service on their part. The steak had nice char flavor and the sandwich was a nice compilation. The wife enjoyed her salad and claims the vegetables are better out here than in Wisconsin. The music is on the loud side, and newer country. This is a mixed review. Here is what I loved about the place- it's decorated very well- rustic charm- love the country music tribute collage on the wall. Lots of open seating around the room so you can see and hear the music. The band- Lacey Rashae and Shane Pomeroy were outstanding musicians and the reason we went there. Okay now for the food- we started with two appetizers each $11- fried pickles which were nicely breaded but a bit on the spicy side and fried cheese curds that were tasty! For dinner the guys ordered the rib-eye sliders $15 which came with a small serving of crinkle fries. The two sliders were dinner roll size but filled with meat. The guys both said it was delicious but wished for a bit more food. My friend and I had the chicken bacon ranch salad $13. It was pretty basic- cubed chicken, some bacon, iceberg lettuce, cheese, tomato and onion. The chicken tasted flavorful and was not dry so it was acceptable. It would have been nice to have had a few more interesting items in the salad like black beans or tortilla strips but it was fine. We had several drinks- a few beers and one "signature" cocktail (there are no prices on the drink menu-a huge pet peeve of mine- so I really don't know how much it was) and then we just had mixed drinks. Now here is where the stars go down- our server Cole was apparently having a bad night (he told us later). He took our drink order and was on his way. The place was loud and crowded so it was a little bit before we got our drinks and that was fine. However I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita and was brought a totally different drink (Peach at High Noon). The server proceeded to give me my friend's drink (Tito's with cranberry and two limes) and I told him that was not my drink so he seemed perplexed and my friend said that was hers only she was also confused because there were no limes. Then he gave me the peach drink and when I told him that was not what I ordered he actually told me that it was what I ordered! Everyone at the table corrected him and he started to take it back but I told him I would just drink it. No apology. No limes brought over for my friend. We also ordered water with lemon which we had to ask for twice. No apology for the oversight. We placed our appetizer order and he was off. The apps came out promptly but with no plates, no napkins...we flagged Cole down and he got rolled silverware for us. And upon additional request, a stack of napkins. When our dinner arrived, the expo gave me the wrong salad (with onion) and when I explained that mine was with no onion, he rudely grabbed the bowl and told me that it was my friends salad. For the rest of the evening, every drink we ordered was missing the limes- I'm not sure if there is a lime shortage in Apache junction (lol) or if our server doesn't have a "Lime" button on his handheld. So there was a lot of asking for the limes we didn't get. At one point our server walked across the entire bar/restaurant with a cocktail pick of limes- no napkin, no plate- just handed me the pick...yikes. So....to sum it up- the bar is a fun place for live music- specifically if you are over 50 or don't mind a senior crowd. The food was decent and prices were not the worst. Signature drink that I DIDN'T order tasted okay- kind of light on the vodka. Standard Mixed drinks were the way to go. But the service was disappointing. Will we be back? I'm sure we will, because of the music! I'd like to give them another chance and I hope that my honest review will be helpful for wait staff training purposes. Remember- in customer service, having a bad day doesn't mean you get to give bad service. Servers shouldn't argue with a customer about what they ordered. Be choosy about when you decide to eat here, and how long you will wait. Their wait staff and kitchen were overwhelmed today. We arrived as a party of 4 at 10:50am and decided we would be put on the waitlist for a seat. They estimated 35 minutes, the place was packed. But we were okay with that. We got a couple drinks and sat around. At 11:15am they texted us to give us a table. We got waters and placed our orders immediately because we had already been looking over the menu. Flash forward to an hour and 30 minutes later... At 12:45pm (and after having had plenty of water refills) we finally asked the waitress how much longer we should expect. She said we were third in line to getting our food. At 1:10pm our food came out, all except for the fish and chips, which took another 5 or so minutes. We also didn't have any silverware, so we had to wait a few minutes to receive that before we could start eating. After waiting about 2 hours for food, it definitely leaves you wondering if it was worth it. But then when the portions come out looking on the smaller side, it's extra underwhelming. Just an example, the bowl of chili on the side is served in a beautiful crock, but only half full. It was disappointing. By 1:30pm we were all paid and leaving, over two hours since we'd arrived. We're not blaming the wait staff or the kitchen, but just wanting to make future customers aware that they may want to ask not about wait time to be seated but about the wait time for the food. It would've been nice to receive a coupon to use next time, or even a complimentary bowl of chips or something. Heard they had really good hamburgers so I ordered a salad...LOL. I was there with friends two of us got salads, two of us got burgers. Everything came out together which was very nice. We had a very sweet, young waitress who was really busy, they appeared to be a little understaffed. This was right around 11:45 AM on a weekday. Everybody enjoyed their food, I had the Diablo chicken salad, they offered " house hot" or Nashville hot... I got "the house" one. It was not hot at all. Nice flavor, but no heat. Next time I will try the Nashville! It was supposed to be on Romaine lettuce, it was on regular lettuce, but it was still enjoyable, cold and crisp served with the house ranch dressing. Had an iced tea it was good. I can't compare it's interior to how it used to look, because I've never been inside any of the other businesses that have been there, but they did a nice job decorating with their theme of a saloon. Plus it was clean. They have standard size tables and chairs, a few partial booths w/a couple of chairs, and they have several hightop tables and chairs in the main room. They have their own parking. It probably gets pretty filled up at certain times of the day, only noticed two handicap parking slots. It was easy to get inside, there's no steps. Just like when Rusty Buckle first opened and had to work out some kinks with their menu, I think brunch is in that same stage -- still finding its footing. The good news is that their food overall has dramatically improved since opening, so I have faith brunch will get there too. We decided to give their new brunch a try. The $4 mimosas? Can't beat that deal! My husband had the Cowboy Breakfast and I went with the French toast. Both plates came with potatoes, which we liked for being thinly sliced -- but they could've used a bit more time on the grill for that nice crisp edge. The brioche french toast had good flavor, but I'd recommend asking for the compote on the side. While it wasn't drenched, it was still a little too much for my taste. Next time I'll probably ask for it plain with just powdered sugar. As for my husband's Cowboy Breakfast, he said the eggs were decent, bacon a little limp (we're team crispy), and the biscuit tasted like it was frozen and reheated -- definitely not fresh or from scratch. Overall, this was our first shot at their brunch, and while it wasn't bad, it's not yet on our go-to list. I had the best French Dip sandwich since 1989. Their food is awesome and I am a very picky eater. The bun was soft, the beef plentiful and tender, the anju was flavorful , crinkle fries came with a side of dip that tasted like a base of thousand island and it was terrific. The people were friendly, the staff was wonderful, polite and welcoming. The restaurant is quite large and there is a stage for a live band, plenty of bar space and also outdoor dining with a beautiful view of the Superstitition Mountains. We will definitely go back very soon. read more
