    Menu and Place to Order

This is a great place to stop and have lunch. I ordered the Gyro Lunch with comes with fries and a drink for $10.99. It was very good. The staff is always super nice and the restaurant is always clean. Great local place!!

Absolutely terrible service. I would give 0 stars if I could. We placed an order for dinner tonight. My husband stated there was a dairy allergy and we requested salad without cheese and sandwiches without sauce. My husband picked up our food and immediately upon arriving home noticed that the sandwiches were covered in dairy. We immediately called. We spoke to the cashier who told us the sandwiches would be remade for us. We asked if she wanted us to bring the other sandwiches back. She said let me go ask someone. She came back and notified us that we didn't need to bring the sandwiches back but could come right in to pick up the corrected order. My husband said great I'm on my way back and I'm not bringing the other sandwiches. She said okay see you soon. My husband arrived, the new sandwiches were done, but because we didn't bring the old sandwiches back they refused to give my husband the new sandwiches. He explained that we had just talked on the phone and showed them the photo of his sandwiches covered in sauce. They still refused to accommodate us. He did not have time to drive back and fourth for a third time. They refused to let him leave without paying for the corrected sandwich. I immediately called and asked to speak to the manager. The cashier told me that she was the only one there along with the two cooks. She refused to provide me any way to contact her manager, when the manager would be in, anyone else I could speak to, or give me her name. She did not offer an apology and had a horrible attitude on the entire call. We had been coming here on a regular basis since they opened and referred many friends and family there. When I explained my disgust with the way this situation was being handled and that they made us pay MORE money for THEIR mistake and that we wouldn't be coming back she said that was my husband and my fault. I asked her why she would change her mind after telling my husband and I explicitly that we didn't need to bring the wrong sandwiches back. She said it was from her "manager" who is not in the building and cannot be contacted.

Never really had Greek food before, so decided to stop here and check it out. First impressions are it's a small but extremely clean and well put together place! The menu has a variety of foods and I decided to order Salmon dish, as well as a few other varieties to try things out. The server was very friendly and helpful. I was the only one there and I don't know if it's what I ordered, but there was a decent wait for the food. Maybe about 20 minutes? During that time two more people came in, got their food and sat down. They possibly called ahead, but I'm not sure. The music was basically shopping mall background noise and I had no service in the building so it made the wait seem even longer. When I got the food it looked absolutely create and tasted wonderful. Smaller portions when it came to the salmon than I expected, but the quality was there. It could just be personal preference or what I'm used to, but it was a quality over quantity dish. Food was absolutely great, and for the price I just wish I had more. Overall, not my personal preference on a few things, but it's an excellent place to try out. I'd recommend it to someone looking for this type of niche environment.

This is a newer location to the Apache Junction area, and I really like how they've changed the location from the previous owners. The music and seating creates a great experience, though I wish there was internet/cell service while dining in. I loved how fresh all of the vegetables were, and overall the food was pretty good. Definitely some items that I preferred over the other, and know that's par for the course when trying a new place. Definitely try the Greek Quesadilla with no meat, it's delicious!

    Greek salad with grilled chicken

Wow! I love Greek food and stopped in for a Greek salad with chicken to go. They did not disappoint. Greek salad was loaded with grilled chicken. Also got the tzatziki dip and this was also amazing. Will definitely be back when I'm in town.

    Bare, old, soggy "Greek fries."

Extremely clean and inviting when you get in the door. Chicken kabobs were delicious, tasty rice and a large side salad was also great.

While in the area to show a vacant space for a potential massage business, I felt a bit hungry and was delighted to discover this charming Chicago Hot Dog restaurant nearby. I ordered a delicious gyro with fries and kindly requested the lady at the counter to prepare my fries without salt. She was incredibly friendly and happily obliged, frying a fresh batch just for me. I truly appreciated her willingness to accommodate my request. During my visit, there was an unexpected moment when another customer choked on their food. Thankfully, another patron quickly called for help, and the fire department arrived in just five minutes. I am so grateful for the swift response of the firefighters, who handled the situation with professionalism and care. Overall, my experience at Chicago's Number One Gyros was filled with warmth and kindness, and I left feeling thankful for the delicious food and the attentive service.

Last night's visit solidified for me that it just isn't good here anymore. We used to love this spot, but our dinner last night felt like a series of unfortunate culinary choices: The Dolmades: They arrived sporting a weird, opaque film complete with unexplained chunks. It looked less like a traditional glaze or olive oil and more like a science experiment gone wrong. The Falafel: I'm not sure if these were meant for human consumption or if they were mistakenly harvested from a Lego set. They were minuscule, aggressively overcooked, and packed a random, spicy punch that felt more like a defensive mechanism than a flavor profile. The Gyro: The classic toppings were a bit of a ghost town. It featured zero tomatoes and a generous helping of onions that had definitely crossed over into "spoiled" territory. The only pleasant part of our meal were the spanakopita, which are obviously purchased, not made on site. It's genuinely disappointing to see a reliable favorite slide so far downhill. Here's hoping they can channel a bit of Joe's original standards and turn things around, but for now, we'll be getting our Mediterranean fix elsewhere.

When you enter the Gilbert Gateway Towne Center, you have to maneuver through tricky shared parking to find a space. We dined half past 6pm on Memorial Day, so thankfully parking was easier as I believe some businesses were closed for the holiday. Though parking is tight, there is no shortage of seating in this establishment. Some bench-style seating as well as chairs to accommodate whichever you prefer. What We Ordered: ~ The Great Greek Gyro (no onions) x2: My boyfriend remarked that the gyro meat tastes like it was reheated, which I also noticed it slightly tougher than a more authentic one I've had previously. Still a very solid gyro given this is a chain and fast service place with a generous portion. ~ Sides with our meals: French fries and lemon potatoes Personally, the lemon potatoes are a pass next time as very buttery and heavy. The French fries however, were fantastic! They appear to be twice fried to have an extra crunchiness. Overall, if I'm in the area and in the mood for Mediterranean, then I'd pop in to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. P.s. Don't forget to add your number for rewards via Toast!

My favorite dishes have always been moussaka and pastistitsio: today I opted for the moussaka because I'm the only one to eat eggplant... my first bite took me back to lunch at the beach many years ago: very tasty and delicious. We also ordered the lamb cutlets, perfectly cooked and so good. Our server was attentive without being constantly hovering, which was great; the ambiance suited me perfectly as it was low key in the best way. The other diners sitting at their tables seemed local, the restaurant to pop in after a round of golf or just to enjoy a home cooked meal. I do enjoy these tucked away gems, their food as well as the service. I feel like we should come back on a saturday evening when the stage is set up and dancing might be happening :) At the end of the meal I only had room for my kafe metrio: I make it in my briki sometimes but it just tastes so much better made at the bar or restaurant. I was reminded why I don't dine here more frequently, they put the 'meh' in Mediterranean. Starting with the ambiance, this place is looking old and weathered. Their store front is not very inviting. Once inside, you navigate through their dining area to the counter to order. The counter area looks more like an advertisement for other establishments...stickers, ads, coupons, notes and all sorts of motley items. The man who I think was doing three jobs in one (host, order taker, bathroom attendant) took my order and walked away. No friendly hello or enthusiasm of any kind. Once I took my seat I watched several people use their store just for the bathroom in the back...the back where there's no door separating the dining area vs. kitchen vs. warehouse vs. bathroom. People were standing in a line to use the restroom a foot from where my food was being made. I ordered a simple gyro sandwich with rice. The sandwich was pretty straight-forward: gyro slices, onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. When it arrive, there was no sign of tomatoes or onion...just different shades of brown drowning in too much tzatziki. I eventually found several onions and one tiny tomato underneath all the meat. Underneath...what a poor presentation. The rice was okay...nothing special. There was nothing here that would draw me back. Having several other Mediterranean food options within miles that I do enjoy has relegated this place to 'in emergency break glass' status.
