Sauce comes in spicy, regular and sweet.
Teresa C.

Good food. Plentiful portions. Helpful & cheerful staff. Interesting decor. And at decent prices. What more could you ask?

Employee favorite combo!

If you haven't been then you are missing out!! Love this spot for a yummy bbq plate! Plate pictured is the Employee favorite and it is so good! Brisket and ribs, creamed corn and broccoli casserole! Delish!! I love their bbq sauces as well Spicy is my favorite, they also have sweet and regular. Pickles and onions are self serve. Must visit right down Cupples!

I came here for lunch with some co workers, and it was pretty good! The potato salad was great, and the chicken was well cooked. There is outdoor seating, which is where we sat since there was 9 of us. But the weather was nice, outdoor seating is also covered. Good Customer service, and the prices were fair with the larger portions of food. If you're close b, Rusty Bucket is a nice family friendly place with good bbq.

The Mac Attack (Combo) with Potato Salad
Matthew L.

Rusty Bucket JawSmacking BBQ has a great, homey atmosphere with plenty of indoor seating and a few outdoor tables as well. Service was solid and I liked that they had a variety of BBQ sauces on the side: sweet, regular, and spicy. I ordered The Mac Attack sandwich with brisket and mac & cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, though the bun was a little dry, but the sauce helped balance it out. The brisket wasn't dry but could have been juicier. I tried the potato salad as my side and it was decent, just nothing standout. Overall, good food, welcoming vibes, and definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm in the area.

We did not like the macaroni.
Ivan J.

Let me start off by saying this. When we walked in the door, we were hit with the most disgusting smell. Like garbage or wet mop. We debated leaving because it was so intense. It smelled great outside, I don't know if there was a dumpster or some smell wafting in from some other place, but man it was gross. We decided to stay, but that smell immediately brought it down a point. We decided to stay, and the closer we got to the front, the kitchen smells began to overpower the other smell which was a great relief! We had the three meat plate with cream corn and potato salad, brisket sandwich with macaroni, and brisket sandwich with potato salad. First the three meat plate. The brisket was juicy, nice bark, and well seasoned! Bravo for that! The cream corn was also really good and flavorful! The potato salad was too sweet for two of us, but the misses quite enjoyed it! The spicy sausage was just ok. Not to good, but not bad. At least it was actually spicy! The turkey was perplexing to say the least. It reminded us of our aunts dry Thanksgiving turkey. Not the smoked turkey we are used to from other bbq places. Skip it. The macaroni was the consensus least favorite. No flavor, about as good as box macaroni. Ok the misses sandwich was great, but the midgets brisket on his was super dry. We all tried and he may have gotten the super dry tip. If we hadn't ordered other brisket we would've thought it was bad. The bbq sauce was soooooo goooooddd!!! I love when something labeled spicy, well is actually spicy! Still tingled after we left and we loved it!!! Love the pico too! It was also spicy as it should be! Dam the smell was hard to overcome! I think we ate with a bunch of regulars, and maybe they were used to it? As soon as we walked out and got closer to the door smelled it again! Would've been a four! We are planning on coming back, just to try other items, and see if the smell was a fluke. Also good price point!

Excellent ribs, cream corn and broccoli rice casserole. Not a complaint. I ordered the 1 meat plate with brisket. When I got home I was surprised that I got the ribs lol. It was delicious!

Cowboy bowl, brisket and Mac & cheese

We flew in this morning and I wanted some Texas BBQ! Rusty Bucket did not disappoint! Love the atmosphere, the service and the food! That brisket is delicious!!!! We will be back before we leave so I can try the ribs and pulled pork.

Melanie S.

Great service and awesome bbq! Rustic dining area. Turkey, ribs, sausage, chicken and brisket with coleslaw, sweet cream corn, potato salad, Mexican rice and pinto beans pictured below. So so good!

Fatty brisket

Meh!! Passing through Texas and of course I wanted Texas Barbecue!!! The ratings were high for this spot; however, they didn't deliver as I'd hoped they could. It was just meh. The brisket should've stayed in the back, as it was not suitable to eat due to the amount of fat on it. The peach cobbler was pretty good though!!! The service was decent, no complaints. The restaurant itself was cool, barbecue picnic table setting! Overall.... Just meh.

Judy T.

Service was good, responsive, and friendly. Food was OK. We got their ribs, brisket, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Gravy was the best part, but food was mediocre.

Great vibe.

For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. For my main I had the scallops with creamed corn risotto. It was a dainty portion but the flavors were nice. My husband had the short rib tagliatelle which he loved. It was very rich and filling. We had the buttermilk pie again for dessert and this time it tasted sweeter than I remembered. It was good but we couldn't finish it. Idk if it was my tastebuds or if it was different. Luckily, we had dinner at Boudro's before a ghost tour, and neither one of these events was scary. We started with the oysters which were unique and delicious. The only problem with sitting on the river is the male Hispanic Rio tour boats drivers all make the same comment when they drive by. They must have it in their gag book or learned from each other. When they drive by they always talk about all the restaurants in this particular area touting how they got everything here, Mexican and then as they drive by "and over there is Chinese Mexican". I mean, by the 6th time it was just kinda annoying. Anyway, the food here was really good. Their prime rib is not like your standard thick cut medium rare prime rib. It's a regular steak. The blackened version is their premiere steak. But we passed. Their shrimp and grits is their most famous dish. I tried it and it was fantastic (and I don't even care for grits) The ribeye was also good. Slightly overdone for medium rare unfortunately m. But good albeit tough to cut as a result. Our waiter never stopped by for a water refill or to ask how the meal was so we had to flag down someone for the water and a steak knife which came when we were almost done eating unfortunately. A bit sad when you're tipping $20 for never coming by. He didn't even bring out the food. But he did do the guac. About the guac. Tableside guacamole is pretty good. But it'll fill you up fast. So pace yourself. It come with chips which we occasionally gave a few to the hungry ducks who were all waiting for hand outs. Definitely make reservations! It was packed in the evening.
