Nothing but an overpriced tourist trap of a steakhouse with a slide and a view of the city. Parking is terrible. We fortunately got one at the top or else we would have had to walk from the lower parking lot as the shuttle was not running on a busy Friday night The server was more on the rude side. I understand we had a party of roughly 30 but it took forever to place a drink order and then forever to actually order. My prime rib was good but not 40$ good. My daughter Mac and cheese was cold by the time she got it. If this is how they treat large parties who spent about 1000$ to eat there, I would hate to see how they treat a normal sized party.

Rustler's Rooste is all about the experience, and it definitely delivers. The ambiance is great -- fun, lively, and full of that classic Phoenix charm, with amazing views that make the drive up totally worth it. We came with a group of 11, and it was an awesome spot for a celebration. It's a perfect place for a party or group gathering, with lots of energy, music, and that "only-in-Phoenix" kind of vibe. The food was okay, nothing mind-blowing, but honestly the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Kudos to managing to sit, feed, and sort out payments for 200+ hockey families! We had people pre-order Thanksgiving meals, order off the menu, and order family style as well. The barn was very cute and rustic + there was a separate bathroom which was nice. Lots of space for the restless to move around after they were done eating. The drinks were tasty; prices were reasonable. Food was average but the ambiance and atmosphere were great & I think that's the main reason for going. The slide next to the band in the center of the restaurant was a highlight for the kids. Parking is ample and you walk into the multilevel restaurant thinking you've entered Frontierland in Disneyland. If you're in the area with a large group...I highly recommend! Chaotic and fun experience!

This is the perfect place for families, tourists, locals, couples, so that means all those that want to have some fun. The views of the mountains and city are lovely as well. Our little ones enjoyed the lady that came and made some animal balloons and the free cotton candy at the end of the meal too. There's a fun indoor slide that I can't wait for them to go on when they are older too. We sat inside by the window and got to enjoy the views. The weather was great so maybe next time we should just sit outside so the kids have some more space to run around. The food is ok, nothing to complain about. You get free salad, free cowboy beans, biscuits and fry bread with your meals. We got the sautéed shrimp plate and the rotisserie chicken and they were both ok. Please don't come with the high hopes of a fancy meal, just coming for the experience and views are well worth the visit!

Rustlers Rooste is like your Grand Dads Rowdy Steakhouse. Do not go here if you're expecting Quiet and Fine Dining unless you rent it out for private parties or events. It's great for the children. Great portions. But very touristy so be prepared for a long wait. You can grab a drink at the bar or look at the beautiful view though! The slide is iconic.

Good things: the view is spectacular, our server was fun and checked in on us frequently, everyone was friendly and efficient, the decor and layout were unusual and interesting, the hot rolls with butter were tasty, lots of salad, we had a tableside magic show, the time with friends. Not so good: rotisserie chicken didn't have much flavor, the brisket was more liked overcooked roast, the dressing on the salad was skimpy and we could hardly taste it, the beans were so-so, the only veggies were high carb ones, the cost of the meals, it was really loud.

We came on a Saturday without a reservation and was seated pretty quickly, wait time was about 20 minutes. Our server was Kyle and he was really knowledgeable and very kind. He was fast and really funny. We got the fried mushrooms and they were amazing. We did the full slab of ribs and they were fall off the bone delicious. The double barrel margarita was so good and fresh. We will definitely come back. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. 5 stars all the way.

I brought my boyfriend here for his 40th birthday. I had called ahead and asked if they had availability for a good view and they said yes they would put a note about the birthday and the window view. It looks like there might have been an issue with the note because The hostess took us to a table that did not have a window. I did speak up and we got moved to the window, which was nice. The menu hasn't changed much since the last time I was there so that is good. The only thing that really did change was the price of the rattlesnake. It was probably 45% more. If I remember correctly from the last time. I did not get it this time since the server said it was $32 today. I also remember not liking the Perkley pair of cactus fries so for me it wasn't worth it to get it again even though I really like the rattlesnake. We ended up getting the burger and then the brisket sandwich with fries. The fries were pretty good and most of them were cooked perfectly and some of them were overcooked, but they do give a very hefty portion so that was a plus. The only couple of issues were the soggy bottom buns made eating them as a handheld pretty difficult. The second was the burger was cooked medium instead of medium rare. The view is stellar from here and I highly recommend coming a little bit before sunset and of course asking if there's a good view for your meal, especially if it's for a special occasion. I had no idea about the cotton candy, but I looked it up and saw that everybody gets one. That was a cool highlight. Neither of us have had cotton candy in a very, very, very long time so this was a cool treat. I'm giving it a 4 for the wonderful service and our server, Kendall, the view, and then the ent

Fun fun fun fun spot to come for a party, bachelor/bachelorette parties etc. Staff was a bit slow but it was packed so I can only imagine how hard they were working. Food was delicious, and the drinks were good. Get the smoked brisket definitely worth it. You can either sit down at normal dining or sit in the high tops and order just drinks and apps. There is live music a small dance floor, and a slide, with a pretty cool entrance. Fun for families with kids. Also fun bar games. Not a boring moment at this spot and it's a must try if you're in the area

Been wanting to try this place. It wasn't busy, probably thanks to the Arizona summer! Got a great table by the window. (Which doesn't provide a sunset view, but a great city/mountain view' Had a fantastic server named Brooke Food was a bit pricy for what it was. Chicken fried steak was flavorful, but the sides were cold. Smoked sausage was pretty tasty and the bbq sauce was a great addition. The bacon jalapeño mac & cheese was dry and icky bland. Mixed drinks were pretty on point. We would come back with an event or big party during the winter months just to sit outside!

Happy Thanksgiving! This was a treat away from sweating to make a meal, charging through the market and especially cleaning up. I came here as a small boy and I did not remember how awesome it was. The views of the valley were beautiful atop South Mountain. The old west ambience was wonderful and their staff is to be so highly commended not only for their hard work on this holiday but being so pleasant and helpful throughout our dining experience. I had the turkey after the salad and dinner rolls. Everything was cooked wonderfully. I really loved the cranberry sauce with an apple pear relish. My dining companions had high praise for the prime rib and ham with rum and raisin glaze. The price point of 36 dollars a plate was the best in town. Had another doggy bag leave with me but I will really enjoy these leftovers.

We had a table of 16. The bill was $600 and they refuse to do separate checks. I ordered a burger , denny's is better . If you want the high-priced southwest gimmicks its the place for you . I do have to say the service was good !!!

Our first time going to Rustler's Rooste and we LOVED it! Our server was so attentive and we experienced really great customer service! I read the reviews and decided to go with the prime rib sandwich. I would give it a 3.5/5 but my son got the Big Burger and that meat patty was huge. He gives it a 4/5. My husband got the nachos and that was a GINORMOUS plate of nachos! 4/5 - For the price it was really good and a good amount of brisket. What I love most is the entrees come with the DELICIOUS bread rolls with cinnamon butter, a really good family size salad to share, beans and fresh cotton candy at the end! We got green apple cotton candy (ask for the cotton candy if you don't get it!) and it was delicious! The ambiance was 5/5 - loved the band playing and we got a window seat with a beautiful view!!

What time does dancing usually start?

    5:30 p.m. until close!

What days are slower during the week?

Never really busy during the week. We just visited on a weekend at 6pm and didn't have an issue being sat quickly. Of course we regretted it cause the food wasn't any good.

Is there live bands on Thursday? I was there Monday night and also band?

I visited on a Tuesday night with a convention and live band. Try their website or calling. Hope this helps.

Do they still have live bands and dancing?

    Yes

I see that you have stairs and a slide, is there an elevator for handicap accessibility?

When I went I saw no elevators at the restaurant. There are stairs to go up and stairs to go down.

When is the funnest time to bring someone from out of state? Best time for live music with our meal?

B4 covid live bands on fri thru sun. Funniest. I wud say when ever.. just tell the staff or tell them its some one bday just to embarressed them..

Will outdoor patio seating be available when the weather cools?

    It will be!

Is the indoor slide open to use? Asking for my kids,... and myself.

It is! We are just asking that guests go one at a time and follow social distancing while using the slide!

For steak entrees, are you able to switch sides or is it only with corn and carrots?

    You can switch sides!

Are there gluten-free options on the menu?

There's meats, salads, and at least a couple of glutey-free sides including baked beans and corn on the cob, but here's the menu: http://www.rustlersrooste.com/menu/index.html

From the moment we walked in, everything was phenomenal. The service was stellar, attentive without being overbearing, and made the whole evening feel special. The atmosphere was the perfect balance of upscale and welcoming, with an incredible vibe that still made our kids feel comfortable and included. Now the food... unreal. Every single thing we ordered was perfection. The steak was hands down the best I've ever had in my life, cooked flawlessly and portioned generously enough that we even had leftovers. The elk medallions were absolutely superb, tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. And the sides? Just as impressive. Every bite was beyond amazing and clearly crafted with care. Even my extremely picky 11-year-old, who rarely likes much of anything when we go out, loved his meal, which honestly says a lot all by itself. This dinner was everything we hoped for and more. Incredible food, amazing service, generous portions, and an experience that felt both special and comfortable. We will absolutely be back and will be telling everyone we know how much we loved it. We had the 16oz ribeyes, two cooked medium and two medium rare. All four were perfect, which rarely happens at steak restaurants. The flavor was very good and the steaks were tender and juicy. Two of us had a loaded baked potato which was a pretty standard potato - hard to mess up, but I always asks for a lot of extra butter and very rarely actually get it. I got plenty of butter. Two had the garlic mashed potatoes, which were also very good. We all had house salads which were fresh and cold and the various dressings (ranch, bleu cheese and orange balsamic vinaigrette were very good. We also shared a basket of onion rings which were excellent - perfect amount of crispy breading and perfect crispiness. For dessert one had pecan pie which was very good. The rest of us had the bread pudding. So - it was good but definitely not like bread pudding we've ever had. It was closer to a slice of marbled cake with ice cream and a drizzle on top. Not bad, just not what we expected or what bread pudding is to us. We'd definitely go back if we are back in town and want an upscale meal. The restaurant itself has apparently been around for decades and the walls reflect some awesome history, which was very cool in itself. The prices are a bit high - about $450 before tip and without any drinks, but otherwise, great place.

We came here based on a suggestion from someone who works at the resort that we were staying at. I cannot tell you how perfect this experience was. The recommendation was probably hands-down the best one they could've given us. B&R had something for all of us to enjoy. I was a bit concerned that my young-ish kiddo would not find something on the menu that would be appealing. I spoke to one of the hostesses at the front of the restaurant about my concern. That is when she let me know that there was a separate kids menu, but also that, essentially anything that we needed, they were pretty confident that the kitchen could figure out. Crazy, but even at as nice and as pricey, a restaurant as this, children's menu, meal items were only about $10-$12 each. I was shocked. Even more impressed, I found items like California rolls and smaller portion steak on the kids menu. Awesome!!! The ambience of the restaurant was perfect. It was dimly lit, but not dark. It was romantic, but somehow still dressy casual if you will. The entrance is beautiful and shows off their patio. I had the most delicious ribeye while my husband had fresh, raw oysters, as well as another entrée that I really didn't pay attention to because I was so engrossed in my own meal. Oopsies. LOL! My kiddo loved their California roll. It also came with a small side of strawberries. That was perfect. We ended up also ordering the small portion of steak for them. An entire morning at the aquarium, followed by an afternoon full of swimming, we had all worked up quite an appetite. They offered us a doggy bag, but once they realize that there were no leftovers on the table, we all had a good laugh, but looked at each other sideways when someone asked us if we were interested in dessert. There was no way. We were all so stuffed and we were so content. I don't quite know how we managed, but we waddled to our car and made our way back to the resort. The entire time, we talked about how fabulous our server was and how fabulous her suggestions were. We also talked about how phenomenal our food was and just how wonderful and experienced the whole night had been at Buck & Rider. My kiddo tried their first raw oyster here. I thought that was pretty amazing. I knew it must've been good since they asked for another shortly after. This is definitely a restaurant that I will suggest to people if ever they ask me for a good dining experience recommendation in Arizona. Dinner was a tad pricey, but considering we were on vacation and we were celebrating our being together as a family and having had such an amazing time in Arizona, it was worth every penny and then some. Our server was so awesome. She had a short chat with my kiddo. She showed us some of her tattoos on her arm. It was just a really nice time. It was easy for us to build rapport with our server. That was another thing that made the dining experience even more fun. Geez, I wish this restaurant were closer to home. Would I come here again? You don't even need to ask. I'll meet you there. The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We got the elote, cucumber salad, aguacate, pulpo (octopus), and steak. The starters were insanely delicious. I recommend all three. I think the standout for both of us was the cucumber salad. The entrees are the only reason I am not giving a full five stars, because while both were such high-quality, the steak was hard for my friend to separate from the bone, and the octopus was overly salty. But I still loved every bite, and the portion size for both entrees was so appreciated. If you are in Phoenix or visiting, I recommend you make a point to go to Bacanora. It is such a cool space, the food is clearly carefully crafted, and the staff is warm and happy to have you.
