The pastries are great. Quiche is good. HOWEVER, how can a bakery use a microwave to heat their goods? Everyone knows that they don't work when heating any kind of dough. They turn the best crispy crustiness into a chewy, soggy mess, change the flavors of the tastiest, and are not good for health. Wake up, Rustic owners. You've got the bucks to buy a commercial convection or even a toaster oven for each of your locations. If and or when you do, I will gladly give you five stars. Loveeeee this place! Only reason why it's a 4 star instead of 5 is because the sandwiches are so tiny. Like $12+ sandwiches that are so skinny and the size of your hand -__- But gotta say that it was pretty good. Got the tuna sandwich, chili, and a croissant. Chili was decent. Croissant was great! They have soooo many baked goods and I wish I lived in the area so I can go there every morning to eat more stuff (like the pain au chocolat???) The ambience is also great with a bunch of seating outside too. My group of 4 had no trouble finding a spot. Most of the customers were local white people getting their brunch fix. I have always had a great experience here. I have been in several times for breakfast to grab a latte. They are always pretty quick and the latte tastes delicioso. They also do a little latte art design which is cute. The people working there are always very nice and they seem to like working there. They have a crazy number of pastry selections - I don't eat gluten so I am limited in trying all of them, but they look amazing! I have had their salads at lunch and they are all amazing. Sweet and savory selections such as ham and swiss croissants, scones and cheesecake brownies seem to jump off the menu and say "Eat Me If You Know What's Good For You." My first trip to Rustic was an early morning to grab something for breakfast and run. The second time was a lazy Sunday morning where I enjoyed an Apple Bacon Gruyere scone. I tasted bacon with every bite joined by the nutty, crispy baked gruyere with the sweet baked apple making an enjoyable entrance every so often. They have plenty of seating inside as well as outside. The pandemic sure has done a number on this place. It's come back in a very diminished and quite disappointing form. The previous beer and wine selections have been replaced with inferior products, and even these are not always cold -- nor even always available. (No more still rose at two on a Saturday afternoon? Cans of IPA separated from the Kolsch in a confusingly different cooler? Why?) Clearly, management is out to lunch at Rustic these days. Speaking of lunch, while the food remains good, there's a line out the door occasionally with only one register open. Outside, the eating area is poorly maintained. Tables aren't bused in a timely fashion, which allows the pigeons and seagulls to treat the place like some kind of smorgasbord. The posted signs against feeding them have to be considered ironic. Rustic's outdoor space is generally the dirtiest place to eat at in Marin Country Mart, and definitely not in keeping with the standards of its neighbors. To restate, the problem lies with management. As in previous years, the Rustic staff is young, but there's always been someone clearly in charge. Not so anymore. The Tiburon and Magnolia locations remain on point, but this one is clearly in dire need of better leadership. read more

This place was a happy accident as I was driving through town. It has ample outdoor seating, a huge sandwich menu, salads, and a full pastry bar. My chicken salad sandwich was phenomenal. We waited in line for what seemed like forever yesterday and it took awhile for the cashier ,who was taking a large order, to even acknowledge that we were there, which is a weird feeling because after 10 minutes of just standing there you start to feel invisible. Meanwhile about 5 workers were just standing around laughing. There was hardly anyone in the place too since it was later in the day. I finally asked if someone else could take our order and she ( A.) said "no". Then a few minutes later someone else appeared to do just that. After all that they missed something on the order which we had to go back and forth to clear up. It never got "testy", that's not my style but I can't tell you how upsetting and uncomfortable that experience at Rustic LL was for us. I can tell you we won't be rushing back. I mean how hard is it to be two things: CUSTOMER FRIENDLY and offer GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE when clearly people have been waiting awhile. Whilst the fresh butter croissants taste great a lot of the rest leaves much to be desired. An overpriced bear claw at $5 will make you wonder whether it actually contains almonds or whether you've just been rinsed by overly profit oriented owners. Perhaps you'll want to stay for the coffee which actually was surprisingly better than the Starbucks you can get in the same complex, you might however have to pump it out of a dispenser just like at a petrol station. You won't be hanging out here for long, there is no Wi-Fi available and the cleaners will classily clean the tables and dump all crumbs and waste on the floor, making this area as clean as a Venetian nun. But who am I after all? This place is rarely quiet at the weekend and the queues will reach all the way out to the pigeon infested seating area where... I couldn't help but wonder if the ribs of a pigeon would have more meat than the special ribs of the day. read more

I went and split a Asian chicken salad and the sandwich of the day which was a French dip. The French dip wasn't very good. It was very very light on the meat and the dip was not good. Service here has always been really bad but today really was awful. I came with my three kids and we were waiting patiently standing far away from the other two white men for our order . The woman fulfilling the orders came up to us and told me and my kids that we needed to wait outside. We were just waiting for my mocha and I asked her why she had not mentioned it to the two white men who had been waiting there inside longer for their orders. She just proceeded to move us out of the restaurant but of course said nothing to them. The only downside I see about this place is the price-point. It's about $10-15 on average for a sandwich and ~$4 per pastry. That's more expensive than many SF places, but the ingredients are quality, and their chocolate almond croissant tastes like a flaky, doughy chunk of heaven. Coffee is also organic and comes in free refills. There's plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your pastry and coffee on hot days, and the Saturday farmers market is right next door. If you're craving greasiest fare and a good craft beer, Marin Brewing Co is also next door. I would say this is a prime location to read, write, and/or people watch. I've had several experiences at Rustic Bakery as I work close by, and they all come up a little short. I've been dining at the cafe and received the wrong meal. I've ordered a salad to-go only to notice a bug in the salad. I've ordered the breakfast panini and didn't enjoy it. It was expensive for what it was and just disappointing. I've also ordered an latte which was expensive for what it was. There are not many choices for quick and decent lunch options in Larkspur Landing and I'd be much happier to return to Rustic Bakery if it were more consistent. As it stands now, I never know if it will be a good experience and I'm unlikely to spend $15 to find out. read more

Love the food here. Hate the line and the price. Super pricey for what it is. But good food so I always come back. The Caesar/Kale salad with chicken and avocado is amazing. Their soup selections are always great too! They sell out usually and change the options throughout the day-so beware that what's there in the AM, may not be the same as the PM selection. Obviously, it's a bakery so they have wonderful baked goods! They are great for breakfast, lunch and snacks! Don't forget to get a bag of their Jose Andres potato chips by the register. I love the Rustic bakery and order from them at least once to twice a week! They always seem to be out of pastries by 9:30 A.M. I wish they could make more pastries! Today I made an order through Grubhub which was larger then usually cause I caught food poisoning last night and needed fluids to drink and I didn't care what kind I just needed to keep drinking! I ordered a quart of chicken noodle soup and quart of chicken stock 1rosemary flat bread, 1 double latte, 1 leg. Ice tea , 1 rustic burrito with xtra salsa, 1 small orange juice, 1 slice orange cake. I tried leaving a large tip and kept having trouble on their tip computer so I left four dollars and gave her ten more when she came. The total was $71.94 I waited for her outside and she walked into the house and left after putting bags on my kitchen counter. I gave her ten dollars and I told her to be safe and she said"they have us making three deliveries at a time now"! I unpacked my bag and noticed my ice tea was missing! So I got back and fixed it quick. Then I fixed that and noticed my extra salsa was gone and couldn't fix. So I called Grubhub and they put on a tape of" pick which language you are)! I hung up and using a vapped voice managed to get the salsa removed and noticed the latte was also missing! Three things gone! You will see these things taken off your credit card in five to seven days! I asked if I could call the restaurant back and reorder and not be charged for delivery? No answer! I hung up. I tried calling Rustic bakery many times after trying to reorder but they they wouldn't pick up! They also wouldn't let me reorder probably because they thought I only tipped four dollars on a large order! My girlfriend called me during all this and said she would go to store and get me ice tea and pick up latte for me and she would even get me salsa if I wanted! Well, please stop over extenuating your drivers and get more help and fix your tip thing and make more pastries please! read more

The food at Rustic is good- when they have the ingredients. Half the time we order a sandwich they tell us they're out of the bread and offer whatever is left over for the day whether it's a good match for the type of sandwich or not. Service isn't great. The experience at Rustic is often disappointing. With so many great places for food in the Bay Area, there are more reliably good places to eat. read more

Situated near the water, there is a large patio for outdoor dining with large shaded trees. The tea and coffee are good and fresh and there is a wall of packaged goods to purchase. We got quick service, took our pastry and drinks to a table that faces a large window, and watched the hustle and bustle of the servers taking large sandwiches and salads to the other patrons. I never fail to finish a croissant, here or abroad. Today I did. Rustic opens at 7 am, so when I bought it at 8 am, I expect it to be at least warm to the touch. It was cold. When I bit into it, it was not fluffy. Like it has been sitting for a while. When you pulled off a smaller piece, it did not give you the cheese like strings. My second comment is about the service. When I approached the counter, the two sales person were talking about sports. While taking my order, they were still talking about sports n between. I think that is rude as far as customer service.
