This hidden gem of a restaurant is not visible from the nearby cross-streets of Tatum and Shea but boy oh boy is it worth finding. My reservation was for 6 and I arrived about 550 pm. I was greeted by two enthusiastic hosts who were happy to answer questions and find me a table; the restaurant was already hopping. Once seated I ordered my fave cocktail, Grey Goose and Soda, and waited for my companion to arrive. Our table was immediately adjacent to the kitchen's staging area where we witnessed the culinary artistry emerging. Since this was my first time at this restaurant, our server Rex made extra effort to help us with our choices. We began with the shrimp and grits appetizer which set an high bar for the evening. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and presented on the grits with small pieces of sausage. When Rex returned for our main course order, my friend ordered the evening special 8 oz. Filet Mignon and I ordered the scallops. My dish of scallops came with a cauliflower puree, fennel apple and pomegranate salad. The scallops were mouth-watering and I particularly enjoyed the sweet contrast of the pomegranate. My friend reported that her Filet was perfectly prepared to her medium-well specification and that the Jalapeno mac n cheese it came with was "divine". When our server asked what was for dessert I opted for the apparently most popular hot chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. My friend and I both raved at how delicious this dish was. After our first great experience at Rusconi's, we attended the pris fixe Valentine's Day Dinner. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Perhaps it was the 8:30pm reservation, but everything seemed like it had been sitting around too long. Nothing tasted fresh - very sad for us. read more

We decided to go for our anniversary again this year. Last year was amazing this year was a disaster. The chef -owner is rude and argumentative. The web site was very inaccurate. The items online were no longer available although they appeared to be online. There was no chefs put together meal that had what we wanted the web site made it seem like there were. They were out of Tomahawk steaks and had very limited scallops as the chef stated. when I expressed my disappointment I was informed I was making things difficult. At this point o said I would have the short ribs but when the chef made the comment that web sites don't get updated everyday we said enough and left. We had ordered a lemonade and coke and i made sure to tip the bartender because she awesome. They ruined our anniversary dinner and I won't be going back there. Fantastic! Is all I can say. Party of two walked in on a Friday afternoon, quickly seated and very well tended to by the gentleman at the bar. We ordered from the menu virgin mules with Fever Tree ginger beer and they were so refreshing with mint and carbonation, great start to our meal. Next up was a complimentary set of 2 beignets which were pillowy soft and warm from the fryer.... They were so delicious! And how kind of them to share! Avocado toast was epic.. Very big, very well loaded and absolutely delicious! My kitchen burger was cooked perfectly at medium and I loved the aioli, which I poured on everything including the truffle fries! Was in Phoenix with a friend for a long weekend and had dinner and Sunday brunch at Rusconi's. Both were delicious. The monkfish dinner special was melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. The cheese cake was light and airy. A lovely change from the traditional heavy New York cheesecake. The Sunday brunch included a special Eggs Benedict with beef and heirloom tomatoes. What an amazingly delicious twist on Eggs Benedict. The presentation makes meals a visual delight in addition to the amazing flavors for your palate. This place is fantastic with excellent food and a wide variety of nice wine choices. The beef tenderloin and short rib are my favorites. My wife loves the fish options, especially the salmon. They have short rib Mac & Cheese that makes for a nice appetizer or meal. My wife is the wine connoisseur and she always lets them make a recommendation and comes away pleased. The service is as good as the food with an experienced and friendly waitstaff. This is a 5 star restaurant with 4 star prices - an excellent value and one of our favorites. read more

I've been here for dinner once and today had the opportunity to try their lunch. I was meeting a friend, but it looks like lot of the customers were having business lunch meeting here. Either way, it was nice atmosphere and the food was amazing. My friend and I split blackberry glazed salmon salad and short rib melt. They split the salad for us and i can see they gave us bigger portion. The dressing was delicious and the salmon was melt in your mouth goodness. This salad alone was enough to fill us up, but we had the short rib melt to devour. The caramelized onions in this was so flavorful and they loaded up on short rib meat. Highly recommend these two dishes. Lunch is ok without reservations, but highly recommend it for dinner as they book up fast. I can't wait to go back. read more

Some friends and I went to Rusconi's during restaurant week in Phoenix, AZ. The deal featured a 3 course tasting menu for $44. It was well worth the trip! Each course had an optional wine paring, which some of my friends took advantage of. I opted to split a bottle of Pino Grigio with a friend. All of our courses were delicious, fresh, and creative! My personal favorite was the cauliflower soup appetizer. Despite the warm weather, I'm always down for soup! The soup was rich in flavor, but had a light, smooth texture. The bacon added a touch of salt and the EVOO was outstanding. With dessert, I ordered an espresso martini, which was balanced and full of espresso flavor. The chef ended up coming out to speak with us. He was a delight and is clearly passionate about his career. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience. I will definitely we returning. read more

We have been in three times and have had fish every time and it was always wonderful , but I'm only giving four stars because every time we go in the grilled octopus is out. Received a phone call from Rusconi's at 5:30 pm saying that the propane on the heaters is low and that it might not last for our dinner. Incredible menu, went with my friend for spring 2022 restaurant week. My favorite was by FAR the burrata salad, which is honestly not the dish I was expecting to walk away craving for days. It's simple yet so full of flavor and unique, straying away from traditional burrata but not leaving behind the best elements that make burrata salad a classic. The pickled onions and basil sorbet were just *chef's kiss*. I don't think it's on their regular menu so if you get the opportunity to order it, DO IT. The short ribs were great as well, super tender. I wanted to see more peach chunks/favor in the bread pudding, it was a little dense and dry. We also got the strawberry creme brûlée and that was delicious with a strawberry purée at the bottom. Fantastic service, my only complaint would be that I felt like really small compared to the booth seating but I'm also a small person so I sat with my purse behind my back. Maybe some throw pillows for the booth seating could up the comfort level but besides that I'm very eager to go again! read more

From start to finish this was a disaster. We had a reservation at six and ended up coming a half hour early. The restaurant was empty with a few people scattered at the bar. This is a small restaurant in a shopping mall so we wanted to check it out as there were good reviews. The hostess, when entering, told us that she would half to seat us at the bar until our table was set up. Huh? We told her there's no one at the tables, the restaurant was empty. She said yes, but she had to , check us in and do some other things to get the table prepared. I told her it looks like the tables are ready for us. I saw rolled up napkins with utensils, and glasses. already perfectly done at the tables. She still refused to seat us. We saw what appeared to be the manager, walking toward us, and the girl, then grabbed two menus and sat us down next to the restrooms. My husband was aghast. We told her this was our first time coming here and that we didn't want to be seated next to the restrooms, especially when the whole restaurant was empty. Could she seat us somewhere else? She actually said she had to go back to the hostess stand, which was just a few feet away to check. What was going on? This was truly unbelievable. We just asked if we could sit next to This booth that was also empty. She finally acquiesced and said yes. OK, so are you ready for the rest? We finally had a waitress come over and asked us if we wanted a drink. We said no. She said are you sure? We said yes we are sure. Water is fine. Felt very pressured and off put by this statement. She then rattled off some specials with as much Enthusiasm as a wet fart. She just didn't seem to want to work there. There were about eight specials and she ran through them so quickly I don't even know what she said. To be honest it just was too much. We ended up looking at the menu and ordering two dishes. The food was fine. It needed seasoning but was fine. Nothing outstanding, but passable. The only other thing I will say is that there was a gentleman who was sweet, but he just kept pouring water into our glasses Every time we took a sip. We got interrupted in our conversation 10 times because he kept pouring the water every time we took a sip. Is this necessary? it was just a terribly nerve-racking experience. It wasn't the place you go if you want a nice meal to talk or to spend time with each other. Isn't that why you go out? If you want to be interrupted 1 million times and seated next to the restrooms- This definitely is your place. But I think I'll pass for next time. read more

What a disappointing experience tonight for my husband's birthday. I made a reservation for 5:30 so it wasn't terribly busy. We've eaten there several times and never had an issue. Until tonight. He ordered the special and I ordered the roasted natural chicken. His was perfect and my chicken was extremely tough. I told the waitress and said...just bring a plate for my chicken...and leave my plate so I can at least eat that. Ignored what I said and took my whole plate. At this point while waiting my husband is almost done. Someone tried to drop off a box of chicken which we didn't know what that was about. The waitress then told us that they were making a whole plate and then explained what the box was about. We told her to just box up the new plate since now he was done eating. Nope they couldn't hear that either...out comes a plate anyway. Now we're getting frustrated...and we explained we had said to box it up. So they took the plate. The waitress comes back with the dessert menu and my husband almost immediately said...no we're done here. Just the check. And AGAIN...they didn't listen. They bring ice cream which just infuriated my husband after we just said no! So the manager comes over after we requested. We had already spoken to her explaining previously not realizing who she was. And she interrupted my husband while he shared the additional frustration. Her response...I apologize. People are getting too comfortable with saying that versus being sincere and taking ownership in situation they are responsible for. I apologize equals ZERO sincerity and accountability. What a shame of an experience. People in the service industry...PLEASE listen to HEAR...not to RESPOND. It's not about YOU. It's about your CUSTOMER. read more

Super disappointed with the experience my husband and I had here, especially based on the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews! Plus, based on what our server said, this place prides itself on positive reviews. We made a 7:15 reservation for our last night in Phoenix. We arrived to a pretty full house, so we were happy when we were able to be seated on the patio. The service was just a notch under par. While our server was very sweet, she took long periods of time to check on us. Upon arrival, my husband and I took turns using the restroom, and then still had to wait another 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at the table. She often would check on surrounding tables and bring what they asked for before stopping to check to see if there was anything we needed. We ordered a bottle of wine, and noted that some bottles are half price on Sundays and Mondays, which is pretty cool. For an appetizer, we both ordered the lobster bisque special, which ended up being the highlight of the meal. I was disappointed in the lack of lobster bits that made it to my plate (one) but my husband seemed to get a decent amount in his dish. The soup also came with a shrimp on top, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the meal went downhill from there. For dinner we opted to share the mussels in a chardonnay sauce and the parmesan truffle fries. The mussels were a huge let down. While my husband expected a cream sauce based on the description, I felt that even a white broth would have been appropriate. However, this sauce had a reddish tint and seemed to contain multiple spices that did not complement each other. The mussels themselves were oversized, and indicator of previously frozen mussels, and did not taste fresh at all. Being from New Jersey, we're typically spoiled by fresh PEI mussels, and these did not come close. After giving about 4 mussels a try, in the hope that I would find a couple that were palatable, I finally gave up and decided to go for the crostini at the bottom of the plate, as my husband and I love to soak bread in our mussel broth. However, the crostini was very burned and was difficult to enjoy, so that was left on our plates as well. Expectations were also high for the parmesan truffle fries, but they were so salty we couldn't even eat them (and that's saying something for two salt lovers!). After barely touching our meals, we hoped to find solace in dessert, but had a difficult time deciding due to the fact that many of the desserts combined flavors that didn't really seem to go together. We decided to get some icecream, but the flavors again didn't seem to mesh upon description. We went with what sounded decent and got the sampler containing plain vanilla, meyer lemon-fig, and peach vanilla sorbet. The sorbet that came out contained 0% peach and 0% vanilla. It had a raspberry on top, so we assumed that it was raspberry flavored. Upon tasting it, we determined that it was just bitter ice, so we left that on the table. The meyer lemon-fig was also disappointing. I'm not sure where the fig was (maybe just the seeds?), but this did not have decent flavor either. Maybe due to an excessive use of lemon zest, there was a gritty texture that I couldn't get over. The vanilla was decent. Overall, we didn't care for this place, especially when you consider the prices. We probably could have had a better meal at the Panda Express next door. read more

We visited for the first time (4 of us) and it will definitely not be the last! Far exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to have been seated right by the kitchen where chef Michael personally touched every pate before it was served. Since it was our first time, he made us a small watermelon sort of gazpacho. Winner! Then we had the tomato burrata salad - exceptional! Entrees included the pork loin, scallops and mussels and each was better than the last. We even had dessert and the ice cream sampler (dark chocolate blueberry!) was totally worth the calories. The sides and apps were amazing! The kitchen block is a must get for a group, it's surprisingly filling and the fries come with two fun and different sauces. The pork and mussels were delicious, though when we asked for bread to dip in the mussels the server was a little hesitant. There is a slice of bread served with the mussels but it's on the bottom so once you get your dish it's already soaked through. If you serve Nobel Bread don't hide it under the sauce, serve it on the side. The seabass was a little disappointing. It was a little too blackened and made everything taste burnt, even though the gnocchi was amazing it was over powered. Over all the staff is exceptional and the chef even came out to deliver some of the food which is refreshing to see. read more

First time visit to AZ and to Rusconi's where the food was amazing. The decor is perfect for groups and couples. The service was impeccable both from waitress, the cook, and the chef!
