Great service by the bartender Brooklyn. She let us in the door at 11am when they opened on Sunday morning. My hub was blown away by the buffalo wings. He said they were the best he's ever had. I enjoyed the grill cheese sandwich. It had a lot of cheese and the bread was really thick and crispy. Great old fashioned and root beer float drinks.
Great chicken sandwich and fun dive bar ambiance! Great place to grab a beer. They also have outdoor seating in the summer!
Went to Runyon's with a few friends after hearing all the hype about their wings. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. There was a line inside the restaurant but there didn't seem to be a host/hostess, so we just stood awkwardly until we could seat ourselves when an open table became available. We ordered three 20 piece wings. Apparently they let you order wings crispy or extra crispy, so we tried both and I much preferred the extra crispy wings. The wings are also pretty big, definitely more meat than bone. The only flavor comes in buffalo, which isn't my favorite but it was done very clean. The blue cheese dressing was also surprisingly very good, and I normally cannot even stomach the smell of blue cheese! We also got a basket of fries and onion rings and those were just standard and done well, but nothing special. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys buffalo wings to come here and try this place!
Love this local joint. You can smell the wings the minute you walk in the door. And that's what you order when you go to Runyons. Always a busy and fun vibe. Seats are first come first serve, so keep watch and honor those there before you. The sweet potato fries are on point as well. Service is great and friendly. Mostly street parking so plan accordingly.
Always a good experience here. We split the extra fried wings and the pimento grilled cheese which comes with fries. When a side of fries is 8 dollars just adding on a sandwich makes good financial sense. Love sitting at the bar for a game and the service is always good.
Every time when chicken wings have been brought up, friends and colleagues would constantly mention Runyon's to me. I wanted to see what the hype is about. Seeing them featured on articles, social media, and reviews have definitely piqued my gluttony. So, after years of living in Minneapolis, I surprisingly had the opportunity to try Runyon's for the first time. And GYAT these wings are good. I hated myself for not trying them sooner because the chicken were very tasty and juicy, the sauce was good and delicate, and the overall atmosphere was a vibe. You know it's banging when you see other customers ordering them left and right. These guys got it down.
Popular bar for those on their way to the Timberwolves and/or Twins game. We happened to show up right in between both sets of patrons. Grabbed a high top table near the bar and ordered some wings. I hear they are award winning. They are very tasty. We opted for the wings + fries basket which seemed like the best value price wise. Service was good and I love the private single bathroom stalls. For a casual option, this place is great. Though limited food options.
Since I was in the area, I just knew I had to give this place a try and WOW, if you haven't had these legendary Buffalo wings, you are missing out! There is pay street parking and pay lots all around this area. If you go around lunch time, you can park for under $5. When I walked in, I wasn't sure what to do, but a waitress saw me confused and let me know it is "seat yourself." My server was very sweet and very prompt! The decor here is chill, small hole in the wall vibes... so you know the food is going to be killer! I got the wedge salad and the famous Buffalo wings! Both were top notch! The wedge salad was large enough that you could share. It had blue cheese dressing and the crispy bacon really sold this! So good! The Buffalo wings were big, juicy and full of great flavor! Their blue cheese dressing was perfect! I also tried their ranch which was also delicious! Just order both! I will definitely be back! This is the perfect place for a bite and to watch the game!

Had to call for our server a couple of times to get drink refills and such. She barely came to check on us but socialized at the bar. Wings and burgers were great.
Went to Runyon's with some friends for a preseason Vikings game and had a blast. There was plenty of seating which was nice to find during a particularly busy day downtown, and the semi-goofy but historic ambiance is much appreciated. My husband and I got a double order of wings and they might be my new favorites in Minneapolis. Tender and juicy but with the crunchiest bits of skin around the edges, making for an easy (albeit not very clean) eat. As a major bonus, their blue cheese is shockingly good. As another reviewer stated, they don't have THC drinks which was a bit of a bummer but they do have several NA beers on the menu which is still a win in my book. Can't wait for the next game, we'll be back!
I came here because I was recommended the chicken wings and was honestly underwhelmed. The wings were pretty dry and over-cooked and they really didn't have much sauce on them. The service was fast, and the drinks were good so that was definitely an upside. It is a pretty classic bar vibe, and everything was clean, although it fills up and gets cramped pretty quickly in there.
Who doesn't love good bar food?! It's a nice bar in the downtown area with some great food! I went twice and had some cool waiters. They make their dressings in house and OMG the blue cheese is so d*man good. I got the buffalo wings fried extra crispy and they did not disappoint. I also orders the Runyon patty melt and the meat was super duper tender. I totally pigged out and did not regret it. I actually went back and got more wings LOL

Came here for lunch with my family. Very casual bar vibes where you seat yourself. Parking was easy and right next to the resturant. Can honestly say these were the best wings I've had and I highly recommend. Service was really great and food came out very quickly. read more

We got takeout from this place since we heard they have really good wings! People were not lying. They were buttery and delicious. The wings had a good amount of buffalo sauce and the blue cheese was great! We asked for both ranch and blue cheese, but got an extra buffalo sauce. That's nothing to complain though. We ordered in the restaurant and the servers were helpful at looking at the menu. Our order was quick and easy. Definitely a place to check out if you're looking a bar food and nice place to hang out! read more
When in Minneapolis, the must-stop is Runyon's for their wings. Just outstanding chicken wings in their tangy sauce. Service can be a little slow but they were packed on a Wednesday night after work. My waitress was great and her service was outstanding. It can be a little loud inside. Sometimes the outdoor tables are better for conversation. But still one of the best in Minneapolis!! read more

(Last visited 12/1/2022.) If you know me, you know that my favorite wings of all time are merely 20 minutes away from Minneapolis, but... my friends told me I needed to check out Runyon's downtown, so here's how things went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right downtown with no private parking lot and connected to a seemingly haunted theater is this gem. You'll have to park on the street since the parking lot is for the theater. But this place is like, stuck in time and that's perfect. It just fits the aesthetic. The ceilings were high, the floors were a flowery white tile, there was plenty of windows to see out of and the bar was on the left. The walls are filled with 40 years of pictures taken here and everything just seems perfectly preserved. Food: So... Paul Runyon developed the very same sauce that this place STILL uses 42 years ago. He absolutely perfected it because it didn't need a thing! You can get the sauce in their original formula or in a habanero variant which kicks the spice up a notch. You can also get them on wings of course and their shrimp! Nice tough for sure. One thing that really blew me away was their house-made bleu cheese. It was perfect and seriously some of the best bleu cheese I've ever had. The wings themselves were also seemingly perfect. They were gigantic for sure, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and with that sauce, there wasn't much more I could've asked for. it was like someone from Buffalo pulled up in Minneapolis and said, "I'm the wing captain now." I loved these wings. Value: The menu is extremely simple, like, 15 lines long. Lol. Pure bar food and that's all you need. So imagine bar food prices, that's all. You won't have to blow a bag here, you can just chill. In conclusion, I LOVED it here at Runyon's more than I thought I would. I really enjoy when that happens. I can't wait to make a return visit so that I can just check these out again! read more
I love Runyon's; my husband also claims they have the best wings in the Cities! The service is always great, there are plenty of tables (even though we went during a (preseason) Vikings game), & they even have a patio area. I got a BLT (with bacon on the side so my friends could have it) with fries. The BLT comes on delicious, perfectly toasted Texas toast, with a ton of mayo (which I love). The fries are SO good, they're perfectly crispy & salty. The bar itself is super fun, with high energy & fun decor. My literal only complaint is that they don't serve THC drinks, but that's it! I love this place & it'll continue to be a go-to in the North Loop :) read more

Stopped here during the heat wave and deeply regretted it. Only giving it two stars instead of one because the bartender was super nice. I got the Black & Blue Burger and a Blue Moon. The Blue Moon came from a bottle, not the tap, and there were no prices listed on the menu for bottles/cans. They charged me $8 for that. If I had known ahead, I never would've ordered one. I can get an entire 6-pack of Blue Moon for $10 at Target right now. And call me a burger snob, but this just wasn't it. The beef patty was incredibly thin, and flavorless--it reminded me of school cafeteria food. It was covered in a blue cheese sauce that was quite runny, the whole thing a sloppy mess. The fries were okay, though. With the tip included it cost me nearly $30 for a meal that I wouldn't want for free. read more
This bar and grill spot located in downtown Minneapolis is great for a game day sporting event with a simple menu for bar food but most notably a Buffalo sauced wings that are tasty but not the best wings I have had. The service was quick and good but the wings were not special and I would have loved it they grilled their wings after frying them because that would make the difference and also provide more than one flavor for the wings if someone does not like buffalo. I probably wouldn't come back but good spot in downtown to catch a game and some food. For 10 wings it will cost ya 16$ read more
We came here with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday before going to the Timberwolves game. I typically order dry rub chicken wings wherever I go, but Runyons is hands-down my favorite sauce chicken wing in the city. I'm a big fan of blue cheese and their flavor is top-tier! We also ordered a side of fries and buffalo shrimp to mix things up a bit. The environment is laid-back, welcoming, and feels like a neighborhood bar yet it's nestled so nicely in North Loop. Parking was fairly easy- they have side street options and a parking lot next-door. read more

Runyon's is famously known for having the best Buffalo Wings in the Twin Cities and in my opinion they are hands down the best. The space, located on Washington Ave in the downtown/northloop area of Minneapolis, is a long, narrow bar and dining area with all the dive bar feels. Service is always prompt and friendly. Considering they only have wings and burgers on the menu - the food can sometimes take a while to come out but they are usually very busy and the wings are always worth the wait. Super buttery, vinegary, and garlicky. Nice size wings. The meat is always super juicy and falls right off the bone. Could maybe be a little crispy but I don't mind. read more
Stopped for dinner here after a long work day. Two of us ordered the wings with fries and extra blue cheese dressing. Our other friend had the black and blue burger. Runyon's has been known for their wings for many years and they did not disappoint. They only offer one type of wings-buffalo style. They come with celery and the most amazing blue cheese dip ever. It is made in house and it makes the wings pop. Our friend who had the burger said it was one of the best ever and ate every speck of it! Chandler was our waiter and he was really great!! Went with a group of 8 after a Vikings game. Insanely busy which is obviously a good sign. After hovering for around 15-20 mins we finally snagged a couple tables. We were there for wings and drinks, nothing more. Couldn't flag down a server until about 20 minutes passed. We ordered two party wing platters and three fry platters, costing $40 and $15 each (ripoff for an average basket of fries-size and quality.) Wings were good, but not sauced up as I've had them in the past which took the flavor scale down a notch. When it finally came time to leave, our server was nowhere to be found. After searching and asking around, we finally managed to get a bill after 20-25 minutes. It will be awhile before we go out of our way to visit this place again. read more

The wings do not disappoint at Runyon's ever. I always preferred places with a variety of sauces/rubs until I came here. Add in the tasty blue ranch dip and it's been one of my favorite places to go for wings. The interior is kind of small but I don't mind it. It's hard to seat a lot so go with a smaller group. Service honestly has been great or ok in terms of friendliness but it's still quick and they check on us often. read more

I was in Minneapolis for work and craved wings and beer per usual. I heard they were noteworthy at Runyon's (well, according to Yelp) so I braved a 10-minute walk in the snow to check it out. I sat in the chair that apparently solo female travelers often take, and Derek promptly took my order. He's so chill and a great bartender, for locals and visitors alike. I should have been pickier with my wings order because I forgot I could ask for extra crispy and extra saucy the way I like them. They were delicious either way, paired perfectly with one of their few IPAs. Blue cheese on the side was the perfect complement. Overall great spot that really brings out the Midwestern vibes of Minneapolis. Would come here again. read more
