Ordered some chicken wings and the Szechuan green beans. I will definitely go back if I'm in the mood for chicken wings, but I'd like to try other items on the menu as well. I tried a bomba dry rub and the drunken wings both were flavorful. There is a variety of flavors to choose from. Which is a good reason to go back & try more. Ray J is Ray Js. It's hard to say anything bad just because it accomplishes what it sets out to do. FOOD: especially when tipsy, this diner vibe establishment has got what you want. Slightly greasy but not too much and the taste is there. I especially like their burgers. SERVICE: friendly and accommodating. I will note that my friend had tried to contact them about a mistake with a to-go order but other than that their service has been great. But beware with to go orders but YMMV. AMBIANCE: diner/sports bar. Can be loud but not too loud. Note if a game is on there may be cheering. Casual and comfortable. My wife and I had been hearing a lot about the wings at Ray J's, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. When we walked in, the hostesses greeted us right away and asked if we preferred the bar or dining side and we chose the dining area. Not long after, our server Jordyn stopped by to take care of us. We ordered everything at once, starting with the Szechuan green beans and pizza fries, along with three different kinds of wings: garlic parmesan, lemon pepper, and smoky ranch. It took a little while for the food to come out, but once it did, it was well worth the wait. The wings were loaded with flavor, and I really liked that they served whole wings instead of just flats or drummies. The booths were comfortable and roomy, and the big screen TVs made it easy to keep up with the college football games. Between the great service, flavorful food, and relaxed atmosphere, we were more than happy with our visit. Parking was also easy, and since the place is tucked away a bit, it feels like a hidden gem. Girl dinner at Ray J's!! I ordered a side of waffle fries with seasoned sour cream ($9.00) and a side Caesar salad ($9.00). If I knew the side Caesar salad was going to be $9.00 I would've gotten the whole Caesar salad, but the salad was delicious! The lettuce was crisp and the dressing tasted good. The waffle fries were hot and crispy, I do not like soggy waffle fries. They give a large size of seasoned sour cream which I appreciated. The food came out fast and the service was great! Awesome spot! We went here late and weren't sure how late the kitchen is open but to our surprise it's open until 1:30am which is pretty impressive. We got a full order of their bone in wings and these come with all 3 parts of the wing so they are really 3 wings in one and the sauces were delicious. They were well seasoned and we especially enjoyed the bomba wings with a side of arguably one of the best sauces in their jalapeño ranch. Went to try out Ray J's with some friends! I've heard many good things about the wings but if I ever see a juicy lucy I will be trying that!! I would recommend going during the morning as it was not busy at all. I also like that there was a parking lot so you don't need to stress about finding parking. I ended up getting a juicy lucy with bacon. It came with fries and the fries were perfectly seasoned and crisps. I feel as if I haven't had enough juicy lucy to compare but it's really good! I would say it's just hard to eat but the cheese gushing out is what makes it so good. I will definitely try the chicken wings next time. Overall, I would recommend trying this place out. read more

Everything we ordered came out overly salted. I have mild taste buds, so I expect that personally, but my buddy doesn't, and he felt the same way. It's a bar, so salt = drink orders. Fair enough. One word - wow! More words... this place is fantastic! The menu has almost too many great sounding options. I got the Cajun pasta of course, but also ordered the Ray J's deluxe flatbread/pizza. Ray J's is a local American Bar and Restaurant serving your typical American fare. This place is quite popular in the neighborhood at all times of the day thanks in large part to their large menu, affordable prices, and good bar atmosphere. There are TVs everywhere in the restaurant showcasing all of the major sports games. There is ample seating with a lot of large booths and tables capable of seating some pretty large groups. I have come here with groups as large as 12 before during the day and they have been able to seat us no problem. They have specials on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the Monday special is unbeatable where you can get a cheeseburger and fries for $8! And it's a pretty large burger so quite the deal. The service is always pretty good, they are able to split large checks for groups, they know their menu pretty well, and are very attentive with refilling water. The food is all good, but my favorite thing to order from here are the Wings! They were voted best wings in Minnesota and I think they're definitely up there. They are MASSIVE with each wing being the full "wing" - tip, flat, and drumstick together so keep that in mind when you order. My favorite wing is the Homestyle, but they can be a little too salty for me sometimes. Also, they serve food til really late so often times this is the last place serving food open in the neighborhood (besides White Castle). Classic bar food. The garlic burger with waffle fries hit the spot after a run. I would get this again. We got a full order of wings and were able to get half Nutty Rooster and half Asian Sesame wings. The Asian sesame was extremely saucy. The nutty rooster definitely tasted better than the Asian ones. We had asked the local brewery staff a place to get a good burger, they suggested place, I would not agree. It wasn't very busy but we did go early on a Friday. Our food took a while whivh we were ok with as then it was fresh. We ended up losing our server before we even got out food. Not sure if they do that in case the food is wrong you don't blame the new server. So the food was ok, it wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best we've had. The burger did look amazing but was just ok, not much flavor actually. Even the fries were just ok not much flavor. And my fellow person said the same, not much flavor. The sauces are so salty that I couldn't finish more than two wings. I don't think I can get those two sauces again. I would have to look for a sauce that is light on the salt or very neutral. Tip: I took the wings home and buried them in jasmine rice, which diluted the bold, salty flavor. I actually could just eat the rice with the sauce. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Ray J's since 2017, but after my recent experience, I honestly don't plan on returning. I brought in a pulltab that turned out to be a $200 winner, only to be told they wouldn't honor it because "the box was gone." No one ever told me that pulltabs weren't supposed to leave the establishment, and as someone who's blind, I couldn't see any signs that might have said so. The staff never mentioned a time limit or restriction, either. If this had been a $20 ticket, I would've just chalked it up to a lousy lesson. But for $200, I feel completely cheated. It's incredibly frustrating to be denied a legitimate winning ticket simply because I wasn't informed of rules that were never communicated. This experience has completely soured my opinion of Ray J's. If you play pulltabs here, be careful -- make sure you're told all the rules up front, because they apparently won't take responsibility for lack of communication. I used to recommend this place to others, but after this, I just feel cheated, and will find a new place to enjoy. read more
