I've been here before a few years ago and got great NB shoes for the marathon that I have since overused. Their location moved across the street to Pearl Kai Shopping Center... next to my doc, so I stopped in just to get a quick idea. Just like the last time the sales associates are kind and knowledgeable. He did a quick size and arch assessment and then picked out a few options. This small, locally owned store is tucked away in the corner of Pearl Kai Center in Aiea, but it's definitely worth seeking out. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly experienced--they really take the time to help you find what works best for your needs. They have a solid selection of shoes, especially for runners and walkers. I go there specifically for my Hokas, which are perfect for my wide feet and can handle the high mileage I put on them. Located on the right side as you get off the Aiea off-ramp from the H1 freeway. Went there on Sunday and they had a flow of customers with only what looked like a Father & son running the whole store. They were very knowledgeable on the different types of shoes they carrier, they were very helpful and friendly! They also carry a pretty large variety of types of shoes there. Popped in the other day for a pair of trail shoes. Macklin, the owner's son was able to assist me, having me try on about 6 different pair from men's to women's after checking my foot size. When I said, no to a pair, he said he's clear them away so I could make a uncluttered choice. I narrowed it down, walked in the shoes around the store and left with a smile on my face. I warmed up by taking a 4.5 mile walk around Diamond Head and into Waikiki making sure their comfort was what I felt in Runner's Hi. Sure enough, they felt like a bedroom slipper with support. My foot had no sores or rubs anywhere. SUPER HAPPY. This morning the shoes took me up to the late pillbox above Lanikai and they were marvelous. No slipping, even with mud on the trail from the night before and I'm not that avid of a hiker. Thanks to Runner's Hi and their acumen with shoes, I am a happy hiker and look forward to more in the future. It's hard to shop for good shoes nowadays. I had a coupon through Allstate Rewards so I checked out Runners HI. If you're coming from Ewa on Kamehameha Hwy, it's tricky with the rail construction so I had to go through a residential area and came around the backside of the parking lot. As I walked in, a young man at the counter greeted me and asked if I needed help. I told him that I needed a good walking shoe, I am def not a runner! He had me take my shoes off and walk several feet then turn around and walk back. This is so he could see how my feet are when walking. I've NEVER had anyone do this so I felt confident that I was going to get a good shoe. He brought out three pairs and really took his time to get me the best fit. I'm SOOO happy I made a stop to Runners Hi! read more

To start off, Runners Hi shares their store with a kayak shop, but there's plenty of parking. Anyway, my friend said she bought her marathon shoes here and that the people were extremely helpful, so I decided to stop by. I needed a pair of shoes for the marathon since I don't think my nikes would last since it's been worn but still useable. Their selection was not as big as I imagined but there is a wide variety of shoes. The girl measured my foot and then asked me what I wore. She brought out nike air zoom Pegasus which would be similar but has more cushion. She also brought two other shoes, but I ended up with the Nike since it's similar and felt comfortable. There's even a treadmill you can use to test run the shoes in! I also ended up buying some energy gels for $1.50 and energy gummies for $2.50. I was expecting to drop over $150 but I'm glad the nikes were only $125. Hopefully when I run in them it will be what she suggested but good customer service. However she didn't seem very enthusiastic but was very helpful and friendly. read more

We were looking for some good shoes for my husband and this place was highly recommended by family. Didn't know that there was also a kayak store here. When we walked in, the two guys on the Go Bananas side just sat there awkwardly looking at us. They didn't even say hello. Almost like they were hoping we wouldn't shop at their side of the store, lol. As soon as we turned left toward Runner's HI, the employee there (sorry, didn't catch his name) gave us a friendly welcome. This guy was awesome and gave great customer service! He really took the time to understand what we were looking for and worked with my husband to get the right size, fit, support, etc. As well as finding the right inserts and socks. Who knew shoes could be so complicated? Aside from Nike, Asics, and New Balance, I have never heard of the other brands they sell here. But then again, I'm no runner. My husband ended up buying a few pairs of Brooks shoes and so far, so good! The best customer service that I have seen at a shoe store period! The employee was very friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy at all. We were visiting from the mainland, but we'll definitely be back again in the future. read more

I'll admit, the 20% off coupon in the Entertainment Book is the only reason why I came here to buy my next pair of running shoes. I'm a townie, and we have a really great running store in town that is just as fabulous as Runner's HI. But, the townie store doesn't have a 20% off coupon in the Ent. Book. :) The only thing I didn't like about this place is the parking lot. We happened to come here during the lunch rush, and since they share the parking lot with Dixie Grill, virtually every space was taken. We were lucky enough to find someone pulling out during our first circle around the lot, but we had to wait a while because the gal was having a difficult time getting out of the stall because the aisle between the rows of parking are ultra narrow. But as far as the actual store itself goes, it's awesome. They have everything every runner would need, and the staff are running experts so if you don't know what kind of shoe to get, they'll help you. Since I didn't have my current running shoes with me, the sales guy measured my foot and studied my walking gait to determine what kind of shoe would best match my needs. While this store doesn't have the biggest selection as far as brands goes (Nike, Brooks, Mizuno, Saucony, Asics, and maybe one or two others), they should have something that is right for you. They also have a weekly run club that anyone can participate in for free. They run down to Ford Island and back. read more

I came here three years ago when I decided to get my fat butt back into shape. One kid later, I came again for the same reason, to get my bigger butt into shape. The first time I came, I was introduced to the Brooks running shoe brand and a love relationship blossomed between the brand and my feet. This location has a small selection of shoes but have quality brands specific to running. The two times I've come there I received friendly and knowledgeable customer service from employees who seem to enjoy their job and/or have a love of running and racing events. I ended up having a conversation with the employee there who gave me suggestions on various running events/walks and encouraged me to sign up for them. The prices are fair, even comparable if you do price comparisons on the internet. I like coming here much more because you can try on the shoes and take your time in deciding. The atmosphere is so mellow, they don't pressure you into buying anything, which why I do come and buy my shoes here. read more

I really appreciated that the employee who assisted me wasn't irritated, especially since it took twelve different shoes, until I found the perfect shoe soulmate for my feet. Did I have to go to a shoe store in Hawaii because I wanted to go to orangetheory and did not have tennis shoes? Yes I did! When I was looking for a shoe store I mostly found chains which didn't seem to have what I was looking for. But luckily I found Runner's HI it reminded me exactly of the shoe store I went to here in NWI to get my other shoes. It was about midday Thursday so it wasn't very busy and I was able to get helped right away. I mentioned my current shoes and what I was going to be using them for. The employee measured my feet just to be sure and it was a good thing I've been buying 11s but I'm actually a 10.5! After all that he brought out the same pair I have but a different color as well as a couple of similar pairs! The other two pairs were nice but I figured I'd stick with what works! The employee who might have been the owner was very knowledgeable on shoes and also help both my parents out with shoes they bought! I was the only one who came in there to buy anything but we all ended up leaving with a pair of shoes! If you're in the area highly recommend going her for employees that know their shoes! In order to get a "runner's high", you first need the right pair of shoes. At Runner's HI, the staff is well trained on what types of shoes fit your fitness level. Here are a few tips when you come here: be open minded on the brand and model of shoes. This store carries many walking/running brands which you may not be as familiar with compared to the big boxed stores. From Asics to Newton and Saucony to Brooks, the selection here is excellent for both men and women. Another piece of advice is to make sure you have plenty of time to spare as you will probably try on a few pairs before making your decision. Bring a pair of socks and your old shoes for the staff to analyze your step. I always return to Jeff because he is extremely helpful and listens to all my foot problems. They also sell running apparel, running gear and nutritional supplements (gels too) along with free brochures on upcoming races. The shoes are all marked as retail prices but the service will justify it. This store is located in Aiea at the beginning of Kamehameha Highway and shares the same store with Go Banana's. Plenty of parking by the side of the shop. You'll be amazed of all the Honolulu Marathon bibs posted on the wall. Located near Pearlridge Shopping Center, Runners HI shares the space with Go Bananas. There is a private parking lot, so that's a big plus. Beats having to park in Pearlridge shopping center and walk to the store. This specialty running store is great, since Sports Authority and other generic sporting good stores who carry running shoes don't know how to properly fit their customers. With that said, this place is great for newbies and experienced runners who need their fix with running shoes and gear for running on the roads and on the trail. Whether you are training for just exercise or your first half marathon or full marathon - or even triathlon, this place has everything for you! I wanted to try this place, since this place I know was selling the Vibram 5 fingers, ever since it was a hot commodity in the running community. Since the fad had died down somewhat, it's still one to try out, if you are in the minimalist craze. Running shoes aren't exactly cheap, but getting fitted correctly will ensure that your shoes will stay durable for 500+ miles, or whatever you use your shoes for. Depending on what your goals are for shoes, getting the wrong pair will get you in a precarious spot, ranging from discomfort to full on injuries - if you are not careful. So, do trust the expert advice you get at Runner's HI. They know what they're doing. The store is quite small, but they have alot of shoes to choose from. I do enjoy seeing all the marathon race bibs that are hanging along the wall of the store. Great service and good pricing, and the staff is excellent in recommending the right pair of shoes for you. The advice you get from the trained sales staff is invaluable, so that you can make your own decisions. Once you recognize what kind of runner you are (foot stride, pronation, gait, etc), you can get recommendations / shoe selections on what will work when you switch brands and venture out into new ones - like from Asics to Saucony. My fiancé and I were looking for running shoes, and hit the jackpot at Runners HI! They are conveniently located in Aiea, same building as the Kayak rental Go Bananas.. Parking is on the left side of the building! When you enter they're shop is on the left side of the building. They sell everything from running shoes, clothes, under garments, socks, gel packs, and lots of running accessories! We were welcomed with friendly faces and warm greetings... I didn't get their names, but they were all accommodating!! One guy measured our feet, then they instructed us to walk while they observe your "cat walk", they've told me things I've never known about my feet! Haha quite interesting! They also gave us lots of tips on what kind of shoes to wear.. My fiancé is an avid runner, and currently training for the Honolulu Marathon, and they gave him lots of advice and recommendations... Customer service - out of this world, they make sure they answer all your questions, and again one of the friendliest staff on island! I'm sure I asked them about 20 questions, and they didn't seem bothered at all! Lol. Prices are reasonable - $110-$120! We left with 2 pairs of shoes, shorts, and body glides! Stopped in to inquire about transporting a foam surf board on top of a car. The young lady was VERY knowledgeable. She explained that there are 2 styles of foam pads if you don't have roof racks. The round ones are cheaper but rotate easily which is a bad deal if you get a real board. The wax will get on the pad and in turn on to your car. She explained a rectangle shaped pad let's you control that from happening as its always in the same position. I also explained that I'd been browsing on amazon but wanted to give a local shop a chance to take my money. Come to find out it was 9 dollars cheaper here and in my hands right now. Runner's Hi had a very good selection of brands and sizes to try on. The associate took all the time we needed to make sure we got the best running/exercise shoes that fit for our needs. The prices were also competitive with the brands I looked at on line. Came to buy a new pair of five-finger shoes for my husband. We have bought several pairs of shoes before and have always been impressed with the staff's knowledge and helpfulness. Today was no different. The person helping us showed my husband the five-finger shoes but also showed him some other brands and styles. He ended up buying a different brand and is totally loving it. I stopped by Runner's HI in Aiea to pick up last minute equipment for my very first triathlon: Gu gel, a race belt, and water bottle holder for my bike. They didn't have my water bottle holder, but referred me to a nearby Bike Shop instead. The shop was large with a huge selection of race goodies, and the customer service reps were extremely helpful and friendly. I found prices reasonable. The only bad part I found about the shop was that my Google Maps navigator overshot the address so I had to drive around the block to find the store. Will definitely stop by Runner's HI again in the future when I need to pick up triathlon and running equipment. read more
