The service is good, the customer service team is knowledgeable about which shoes to recommend and are very helpful. I don't like it when people try to sell me items and keep on asking me if I need help so I really appreciate the service and help provided when asked. I first went to another foot store at Kamakana Ali'i but that location was closed permanently. This was on Friday 3/13/26 the day the islands were hit by the Kona low storm. I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis so I was desperate to get new work shoes for the following week because I'm on my feet all day. I called Runner's Hi to see if they were open during the storm and Ray answered. I explained what I was looking for and he said to come in. When my son & I got there Ray greeted us and I told him I had called ahead. Ray went above & beyond to help me find the right shoes & inserts to deal with my plantar fasciitis. He sized me, took a look at my feet and saw I had collapsing arches. He recommended 2 different shoes. I asked him for all black shoes because I needed them for work. He had me try on 2 different pairs of shoes one was the Hoka Bondi 9 and a pair of Brooks and had me walk around to test them. Ray also suggested that I walk around with Hoka on one foot & Brooks on the other foot to compare the 2 shoes better. I ended up with the Hokas & the recommended inserts to make it more comfortable for my plantar fasciitis. I also bought a massage ball and compression sock to aid in my recovery. The Hokas felt great & I made sure to wear my current work shoes to the store so Ray could see what I was currently wearing. Thank you so much Ray! Just went here on Monday & I didn't know actually where is was, good thing for GPS. It's located close to subway & black sheep creamery in Waipio on the side of Costco & Starbucks is across the street. Anyways I just made it when they first opened. The guy was very helpful as I was telling my foot issues & I had many. He gave me several different types to help my foot problems. He made me walk a few steps to watch how I walk & suggest some brooks. I got to try 3 different types of shoes & I took my time making a good helpful choice. I even got a senior discount. YAY! So I saved a few bucks buying these shoes so I got a great value for my shoes. Also the place is small but the service was so on point, it's clean & different options in shoes, I usually go to ultimate foot store but I'm coming here for walking shoes. I did the Pride 5K and my knee started hurting, so I determined it was time for running shoes. I just started jogging after walking (previously had walking shoes). I wanted to make sure I did it right, so someone recommended I get a "gait analysis." I checked the Runner's HI website beforehand, and ensured they had one, and then got there the next day right when they opened. I wished I had gotten the woman's name, because she was excellent. I explained my issue, she watched me walk across the floor, and checked my stance. She asked a lot of questions about my gait and what my exercising goals and habits are. She definitely cared and had great insight. I have a really unusual size shoe, so she brought out a few. I decided on a pair of Brooks, which I had never had before. I texted my podiatrist friend after, and she said they are the best, and I have full confidence in her opinion. They also have an excellent return policy, where you can try the shoes for a couple weeks and still return them! So although it's an investment, it's a no pressure situation. Because I recently started my jogging journey, I wasn't really sure what I was doing, but felt like I was in good hands in Runner's HI. It's also the first time I felt like I really needed to invest in good shoes, as opposed to just getting something cheap online. To be honest, I was a little sticker shocked, but my marathon-runner friend confirmed that is a normal cost for good running shoes, and that it is worth the investment, especially since I started having some pain while jogging. The woman who worked there went over how often shoes should be replaced and when to come back. Now I take a lot of pride in these shoes and keep them indoors. I used to keep my running shoes in the garage, and they seem to wear down quickly. When you walk into a small place like that, jeez, say hi how can I help you? The store is dark and they carry old outdated shoes. Small rack. Im used to way nicer stores in the mainland. One of the best experiences I have had buying shoes. I needed comfortable shoes for walking, and I struggle with pains in my foot, hip, and lower back. The only employee at the time was attentive, helpful, and gave good advice about how to get the most out of my shoes. Suggested insoles that would also help with my arch being flat. I will definitely be shopping here again for shoes. On a side note, I observe some really rude customers enter the store. So here is some advice, service is based on what each customer needs, so if you are in a rush, dont go. With only one customer representative working, mind your manners, this includes body language. If you are that impatient go to Footlocker. Also, dont go in there expecting a deal/sale. This is a very small store that focuses on providing its customers quality shoes, not discounts or Nikes. Nothing wrong with Nike, but there isnt a large selection, so if you know it's the only brand you want or like try Footlocker. Be open to suggestions about insoles. read more

I was in need for new shoes for physical therapy. The associate had me takeoff my shoes and watched how my feet planted on the ground. He remeasured my sizing and asked if I had prior foot issues to specifically chose a shoe that is catered to me. He also checks if the shoe is in-stock at this location or the sister store. I was able to purchase my extra wide New Balance shoes. A very in style brand atm and offers other brands like ASICS as well. He is very helpful and listens to your concerns. If you plan on buying insoles, please bring in the shoe that you're going to use it with. Quick warning he is by himself so please be patient or call ahead to see if the coast is clear. read more

Nothing like having a Father and Son helping me with my shoes. I've been buying shoes from Runner's Hi in Aiea since they opened and so happy they now have another store in Mililani. Actually it may be over a year now!!! Grateful to have been fitted in trying on just two pairs and spending a minimal amount of time chatting but getting right down to business. No fuss! These two know their stuff. The owner Ray has run hundreds of marathons and once upon a time completed the Kona Ironman so he really knows the industry. There isn't a person in that I know that doesn't appreciate his business acumen, gentle encouragement and overall shoe knowledge. Very grateful to have been in and out in 15 minutes! This afternoon I decided to retire my old Salomon running shoes. After a short drive to the Waipio location, I was pleasantly surprised. I was helped by a very helpful young man around 3:30 pm. I requested new training shoes after running off and on since 1985. Both of my feet were measured, not only for size, but width. I tried on a very comfortable pair of black New Balance shoes, a Saucony and Nike. After trying them on, I decided on the Nike running shoes, new pair of socks and insoles. I am very impressed at the courteous, friendly, and swift service. I'm so happy to support our local neighborhood store, thus saving an unnecessary drive to Honolulu for shoe shopping. My husband was looking for a particular brand of athletic shoe that isn't available everywhere. On their website they suggested Runner's HI, so off we went. The store is small, and there's no sign yet to indicate where they were, so we just used Waze and some spidey sense to walk around the building until we found it. I didn't get the name of the young lady who was working there, but she was incredibly knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. She even taught us a shoelace trick to help if you have narrow heels and they lift out of the back of your shoe! While they didn't have exactly what my husband needed in his size at this location, she did ask if we wanted her to check with the Aiea location for him. This is the best place to come for running shoes. I've been coming to them for years...ever since they were sharing half the store with Go Bananas in Aiea. Ray has always been extremely helpful and always taken the extra step (haha) and gone the extra mile (hehe) to help me and ensure that I purchase a pair of shoes that are the right fit for me. It wasn't until came here that I realized how valuable a good pair of shoes are, and that it's worth it to pay a little extra for quality service and a good product. Along with the shoes I bought today, I also found that they had some great insoles that were better than the ones I currently use. The staff still continues the excellent service. Honestly a good customer service and salesman knows a customers needs before their wants. I have really wide feet, but I like nike which is problematic. The owners son Macklin was working and brought me out some wide nikes and some other options. The amount of knowledge on every shoe and its purpose is way better than ordering something online, while sifting through all the reviews and information. That is why you go to a "SPECIALTY" store with a knowledgable staff that helps you find the perfect shoe for its purpose. So four shoes come out at fitting, two nikes, brooks, and mizuno. He goes over all the materials, functions, and perks, for each shoe as I try them on. I finally settle on the Brooks a small running shoe company making ripples in the industry. First time customer here. I was surprised how personal the experience was. When I came in, there was one girl working. She was very helpful and empathetic. I'm really bad with buying shoes, but she immediately asked what I was looking for and measured my feet. I don't remember the last time anyone measured my feet lol. She gave some suggestions and offered to check other branches for options their store didn't have at the time. The first shoe she suggested felt very comfortable and I think it was exactly the brand my doctor recommended, which was Brooks I believe. She suggested another shoe of the same brand, but unfortunately both her location and the aiea location was out. I really liked the first pair, so I went with it. Now normally, I'm usually cheap with buying shoes, so it was the first time I spent over $100 on shoes, but the experience was nice, it was the brand my doc suggested, and it felt really nice on, plus I loved the color lol. Great experience with my first shopping trip here. Needed new running shoes and have been more serious with my running as I prepare for my first marathon. Jeffery was very helpful in examining my gait & looking at my feet to determine several shoes that would be the best match for me. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Went into Runner's HI not knowing what to expect. I have flat feet, so it's hard to find comfortable running/walking shoes that fit and didn't leave me with aching feet. Was recommended to the store by a friend. Told me that there was a new location close to where I live and work at. Decided to check it out on a free day I had. I found that the service was well beyond worth it. Jeremy who works there is very knowledgeable and was able to outfit me with shoes that fit perfectly and comfortably. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing and extremely welcoming. I'm not one to boast about places I go to, but Runners HI is one of the best places that I've ever been to and it's the perfect place to go to whether you are an experienced runner, athlete or beginner. Thought I would go here after an appointment in the area thinking how convenient this location was. Sign says opens at 10am. I waited. I waited and I waited. I knocked on the door thinking the person was just busy in the back but no one popped out. Instead of just sitting there I called the Aiea location inquiring about opening time. The worker there said someone should have been there and that he would call to make sure. He tried assuring me that someone would be there shortly. After waiting more just in case, I called back again. I was told that the worker who was supposed to open that store went to his OTHER JOB and that the store wouldn't open till they found coverage, most likely at 2pm. I was shocked and mostly annoyed. I can't imagine all the other customers that went after me to find a closed store and not knowing what the heck was going on. How unfortunate to think of the lost revenue and customers who encountered the same thing and had to go to another store for their running needs. Hopefully this was an isolated incident can't say that I would readily go here again. read more
