My husband used to come here to buy work shoes that are well made, lasts a long time and very comfortable. The shoes are pricey but worth the cost. Since he's now retired, he was using it to take care of the yard work. We did take it to a shoe repair once but it didn't last long so we came back here for a replacement. According to our receipt, Walter was our salesperson who was pleasant, knowledgeable and very helpful. He first asked my husband to step on the footscan to find out the shoe size. They have a wide variety of shoes so we informed Walter exactly what we were looking for and he directed us to that section. There wasn't much to choose from so my husband chose the shoes he wanted. It was a good thing he brought out 2 different sizes for my husband to compare which one felt better to make it easier to decide. Props to Walter! Checking in after My last experience left me quite angry and disappointed in the brand as a whole. I visited the waimalu location this evening and I received great service by the gentleman he assisted me in purchasing a pair of boots and even gave me a complementary foot scan which dynamically scanned for best sizing and special orthopedic inserts. I've been buying red wing boots for years and I rarely need replacement shoelaces but when I do the Red Wing Aiea gives me a set for free. Unfortunately I was charged for them today and I wasn't explained why until after the fact. The customer service continually has gone down at this location. The decision to charge me for shoelaces rather than taking care of a loyal customer because I didn't have my boots with me to prove that I've been a customer. Customer service is really terrible. I'm a female and I walked in, no greeting or acknowledgment from the two workers behind the counter. I was looking for a Christmas gift for my brother who is in construction. I'm in the store for a little then another customer walks in (male). Immediately the sales clerk tells him "welcome". Then the clerk walks up to the him and ask him if he needed any help. Now, I am beginning to think I'm invisible. I'm in disbelief at their poor customer service that I turn and leave. Sitting in my car in the parking lot, I call the store. I ask for a manager and the guy who answered said he was the manager. His name is John. I told him what happened and he said he doesn't know who was working at the counter, but it wasn't him. I gave him a chance to redeem himself/store by explaining that I was thinking of yelping my experience and he didn't have anything to say. So....here I am giving my review. I bought a shoe from these guys and the second day of wearing them, the right shoe was giving me pain in my ankle that started to feel like a sprain. I had to go home early from work due to not being able to bear the pain anymore. I went to return it and the manager kinda gave me a bogus remark on saying the next time I return any shoes it has to be brand new. How are supposed to return a shoe that's defective in brand new condition????? Second, there was some procrastination in the return process (I believe it was an attempt to not get the shoe refunded or to get me to buy a new one), but I was able to get my money back. Third, after further investigating what size and the symbols it said on the box. It was not a wide size shoe, and I believe they gave me the wrong size shoe too. I will not be returning here anymore due to this experience. They do not get their shoe sizes right and now I had to experience this pain in my right ankle due to them giving me the wrong size to begin with. read more

My husband goes through work boots FAST. His line of work and huge feet don't help but ware his shoes down even faster. He has tried A LOT of brands and after a recommendation from a fellow coworker we decided to try this place. There were maybe 2 other customers in the shop and a few associates. No one greeted us or asked us if we needed help. We had to wait and flag someone down just to try out a pair of shoes. Of course they didn't have his size in some of the shoes that he liked, but he finally found a pair that worked for him. I was disappointed in the level of customer service offered here. When buying a $300 pair of shoes you'd expect some kind of interaction, along with some level of info or opinion about what you're getting--like, "this is a popular pair because it's waterproof and durable," etc. I mean you can read about the shoe but it's nice to have a knowledgeable associate--it's part of their job to know about the items they are selling. You would also think that they may want to develop some sort of relationship since work boots don't last forever and we'd be back to buy another pair in the future. The person that helped us said practically nothing, except the price at the end of our transaction. $300 later those shoes lasted my husband 2 months before they began falling apart. 1 star was the lowest I could give. Their supply chain problems have been persistent for over a year now. Never have any sizes for pull on or laces. The only sizes they had 3 days in a row right at opening were 8 and 14's. The associates don't engage with helping and are pretty lethargic with answering your questions. I needed 10 1/2's and he said I don't have but I can give you 14's... yes so glad you offered 3 1/2 sizes bigger just what I was looking for. They don't know when they receive shipments. I talked with Aina on the phone. Very courteous and professional. Aina also never rushed me and answered all my questions. When I got to the store, Chris was behind the counter and acknowledged me upon entering the store. I went in to check in wool socks and arch supports. He fitted me on the special equipment and recommended two arch supports. Explained to me how the arch supports would fit my feet better when they're heated by my feet. They offer a discount to certain workers. I was told they offer discount to DOE workers, so I brought my mom with me to get the discount. Apparently the discount is only for the person qualified for the discount (ex. Although my mom would be paying for the shoes, in order for the discount to be applied, the shoes are supposed to be for her, not me.), but that's not what I was told by numerous people. There was some confusion on it, but it was resolved quickly. Prices are high, but their shoes are really good and comfortable. There are many styles to choose from depending on what your uses are, and most come in 2 different colors. Their service is great. It was my first time purchasing from them, so they offered to check my size since their shoes may run bigger. After I found my size and shoe I wanted to try, the associate prepped the shoes, put it on my feet, and tied it for me. He described how it should feel on my feet and the features that they posses. Awesome service. I'm really satisfied with the shoes I purchased, but since now I learned I won't be able to receive a deal, I'll probably shop elsewhere. But, that doesn't mean you shouldn't either. Tell me why I needed to fight the sales person just because my boyfriend wanted to exchange a size up ? He puts insoles and wears thick socks so he wanted to size up since his feet also swell from standing for 8 hours and they kept insisting on giving us what he measured to be. I understand the leather stretches but my boyfriend's feet were in so much pain. They already have my money, so just give me what I asked for. First time buying shoes from red wing due to my boyfriend getting a job that requires steel toe shoes. (I'm not familiar with how to buy these types of shoes) Walked in the store and there were 2 associates working, a man and a lady. So I stood in line and the man in front of me purchasing a shoe for the same company my bf works for was offered discounts without even asking for it. So when I went up to pay for this shoe, she didn't even ask what company I was buying it for or offered any type of discount. So I asked, is there any discounts you guys offer? She hesitated and said only for military, union, etc. so I said my bf works for those places so she said well he has to come in with his ID. It was like she didn't like her job and was just trying to get me out of there. Or I don't know if she was treating me like that because I am a women! I've been in the store several times and Have always been helped to my satisfaction. It's now nearly 2 years later and I am still using them. They've been up Pillbox in Kailua, to Makapuu, Kokohead, all over Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Big Island, in my wedding, LAX, Houston International, Miami International, Colombia, Philly, New Jersey, New York City, White Plains, through dirt, sand, mud and snow. And, they are on my feet right now keeping me warm in these below freezing temperatures. Prices have gone up some,but what hasn't, couple hundred bucks for a quality pair of sh oes,you get what you pay for. Great shoes, great service! I love my three pairs of boots I've purchased over the last 6 years with Red Wing. All sales associates working there are wonderful and very informative. I have noticed that they do get quite busy, so it's best to have a little patience for the sales guy helping 5 customers simultaneously. It also doesn't hurt to treat the sales people with respect. I noticed a lot of their customers talk down/use profane language (even when children are present!)/verbally harass/yell at the sales team. I think many of the "bad" experiences people have there are probably a result of their own doing. Their warranty is a God send - It's a one year warranty against manufacturing defects ONLY, which is pretty reasonable if you ask me. I purchased a pair of USA-made boots that had a problem with the sole separating. After showing them the boots, they replaced it without hesitation.
