I don't see this place being around a few years from now.. all the workers were nice, I wish them the best and I hope to be proven wrong. Last time we visited we had a great choice of meats and the food was fresh and hot! We loved it and always get the sweet potato fries.

What happened to this location? We waited for over 45 minutes to get our food. Not busy at all, and we checked on our food three times and we're told it was coming out. In the meantime, 15 or 20 people came and left. Quality of the food was OK, but the service was pretty bad. That's a shame, because we like to go there often, but probably won't anymore. read more

I was very hungry so please don't judge me for really liking my food. :-) Service was great, greeted with a smile upon entering. Food came out quickly and piping hot, the soup was great tasting almost like a Tom Kha Kai Thai style. Voodoo chicken salad and fish taco were both very tasty as well. Although I was the only person in the whole restaurant in a very busy plaza at dinner time makes me wonder how much longer they can stick around with no customers? Normally Rhumbi gets a 4-5 star, but NOT THIS LOCATION! They were out of Pork, so our delivery order arrived one meal shy. They claimed their phones were down and that they couldn't call to let us know. Strange how they answered the phone though. They would not give us a refund, but took down our name and number and promised to give us a voucher at a later date (any guesses on Whether they will honor that). Then we opened our meals and discovered they left the sauce completely off our salmon/prepared it wrong. The Red flag should have been when this location claimed they could not handle any special instructions such as "please leave cheese off the salad." Wow. i'll let you in on a little secret (if you didn't know already)... there's a new-ish app called 2for1 that is accessible to anyone who lives in utah. you can get buy one get one free meals or half off an order at places like rumbi, barbacoa, JCW's, roxberry, & much, much more! this is what brought us in here for dinner on a monday night just two weeks ago, there was a deal for buy one entree, get one of equal or lesser value for free. the restaurant was completely empty, so we ordered promptly and the food was out pretty quick as well. i hadn't been to s rumbi in over a year and a half, but the food was good & i had a discount so ill probably keep coming back! we both got the bowls, mine consisted of noodles, luau pork, grilled shrimp, & veggies topped off with sweet & sour sauce. we also got the sweet potato fries & my husband got a pineapple upside down cake for a treat. the staff was super generous with our portions, we ended up taking a lot of it home! read more

I really like Rumbi. Food is always great and I've never had a negative experience with service. Until now however. Don't get me wrong the cashier was very nice and greeted me with a warm "Aloha". But everything after I made my order was far from satisfactory. First off, the environment was disgusting. It looked like nobody cared to clean at all. Every table still had bits of food on it or was sticky. The floor was even worse with spilt food and napkins covering the floor. The food was "meh" with undercooked or under-nuked veggies that tasted watery. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken and teriyaki sauce which wasn't as good as I remember. Also, not a big deal but even the utensils weren't organized with forks and knives sharing the same cup holder. Really disappointed in the music choice. This place claims to be an "Island Grill" but loses the authentic feel in the atmosphere by playing country and pop music. When I eat at culturally themed restaurants, I always appreciate music that sets the tone and helps enhance the experience as if you're present. The food was decent and I'd eat here again, but I feel the music choice would make the experience much more satisfying. Playing Island or Island Reggae style music is a simple suggestion that I believe would go a long way. Sam served us our food and was amazing. I've spent a lot of quality time on my beloved Hawaiian islands. I miss it desperately beginning the moment I head back to the airport. Rumbi provides me with a tiny twinkle of Aloha in the midst of an Aloha-less mainland. The decor and background music at Rumbi is a exhilirating reminder of Pacific sea breezes, surf bums, and sand between your toes. They offer consistently good salads, rice bowls, tacos and platters. They have regular featured specials which I always fall for...and am usually glad I did. They're generally very tasty, and many more should rightfully be added to the permanent menu (a la Cabo Fish Tacos, yum!). A delightful Rumbi salad is my standard choice if the special doesn't get in my head. I especially enjoy the Caribbean Chicken, Aloha Chicken, and Hula Chicken salads. The dressing is extraordinarily unhealthy, but worth the extra calories because it's soooo gooood. The Mango Passionfruit Vinaigrette is my favorite. (I may or may not have been spotted ordering extra sides of this dressing in the past, pouring one entire serving on the salad and using the other serving in which to dip those "less coated" bites. Shameful.) Hubby is partial to the rice bowls, and loves the Spicy Hawaiian Teriyaki with chicken. I have to admit, it's pretty good. But for my money, if it's a rice bowl, it's the chicken bowl with their fabulous Honey Orange sauce - dreamy! Especially when you add Sriracha (the bottled sauce of proper Gods and Kings, galaxy-wide). You get the choice of brown rice, too, which makes it even more amazing. (Can I get a witness?!?) Shockingly, I've never had a Rumbi sandwich. In fact, I didn't even realize they offered sandwiches until I saw a guy literally shoving one down his throat the last time I was there. I'm pretty sure it was not properly masticated. But he certainly seemed to enjoy it all the same... I love many things about Rumbi. I love that you can call-in your to-go order and breeze by to pick it up. I love the cafeteria-type set up for ordering and paying - quicker than waiting for someone to come to you for order-taking. I love that the staff are all friendly and welcoming, and don't care that you spend far too much time at the order counter deciding what to get. I love that they offer large and small bottles of Fiji water as an alternative to the self-serve soda machines. AND, my most recent infatuation at Rumbi: Rumbi Fries! They're SO sexy! How did I miss this aspect of my beloved Rumbi for so long??? They're half sweet potato fries, which in and of itself is brilliant. Their crispy, perfectly seasoned outsides and deliciously creamy insides have smitten me. I don't even add salt to these beauties. They come with relatively tasty fry sauce, but frankly it does little to contribute to the deliciousness of the fries themselves. These may be the first and last fries I eat completely naked. The only things I have legit complaints about at Rumbi are (1) this location is such a bother to get in and out of (in a very busy area of Draper, and parking, although a big lot, is always a challenge); and (2) it seems to me that the to-go food is a lot smaller serving size than what you get when you dine in. Sufficient enough, but there really should be no difference in the amount of food you get either way, IMO. Do yourself a favor and get a little Aloha in your week.
