I can honestly say, this is one FANTASTIC place! I live in Hampton Bays and was somewhat avoiding it as I figured it was going to cater to the summer people. Well quite the opposite is true. They cater to everyone equally and with such good humor, it just added to our wonderful evening. The food, what can I say, the food is beyond AMAZING. My husband ordered the artichoke (I don't like them) well I am now an artichoke fan. My tacos, I ordered three (chicken, steak & pork) each one of them was a different delight in my mouth. The Rum punch is so tasty and one sip made me think I was back in Maui or in Key West, they perfected the tropical drink. The staff was friendly and enjoyable. The cook even comes out to make sure people are enjoying their tasty treats. Our Waiter was fun and humorous and we were well attended. For anyone who gave poor reviews, I would have to say you were looking for something other than this perfect little secret treat in Hampton Bays. I think you should keep your "tastes" in the other Hamptons. Rumba is one of the best restaurants out here. I have been to the best restaurants in NYC all the way to East Hampton and Rumba is top notch in food, service, drinks and love the small tropical atmosphere they have created! What delicious food! What a great setting! The price is definitely reasonable for the location and superb quality. Make sure to wear mosquito repellent as the outdoor seating is completely exposed (and there are no screens to the indoor area) and proximity to the water brings the bugs out. Online reviews looked great, as did menu. Went on a wednesday night 1/2 hr before reservation and spent that 1/2 hour looking for parking as valet was completely overwhelmed. Table inside was fine, but obnoxious group at the bar made it very hard to hear anyone. Food was good, but service sporadic. Its a one and done. read more

Amazing Caribbean inspired restaurant . You truly feel like you are on vacation when you come here. Even if you are local. The shrimp and pork tacos are awesome. Wich they had the option for flour tortillas, but they where flavored very well. Mom has the crab cake salad and dad had a burger. Everyone loved the food and service. read more

Came here about a year ago. It is a small place with a very cute island decor and nice views of water from their deck. We waited awhile for a table, but thought the food was pretty good. We did not have a reservation and it was a weekend night. We were seated on the deck. The rib appetizer was very tender and not over dressed. Small place in Hampton Bays off the nearby marina. Limited parking, cept' a small valet run parking lot next to the joint. The parking service is free, but please tip the valet. Has outside deck and indoor sweating. Indoors eating is not very big and nor is the bar area. Went around 8pm. Make a reservation as this is a hot spot. Dinner was nice, but volume in the indoor seating area was waaaay too loud as they had a singer. Couldn't have meaningful conversation with my wife at all during our meal as we had to shout at each other. Outside table would be best if their is a musical act present. As for the food, it was quite tasty. Not a very big menu but enough to chose from. My wife had the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was tasty and a healthy portion. I had the fish tacos which were very good. We enjoyed the mussels with coconut milk and lemongrass. Never had them this way, but they were tasty. No draft beer. All bottles. And the menu did not list what they had....so poor waitress Alexis had to verbally go through what she could remember. Margarita was awesome. Great service. Good food. Too loud. Limited menu. The only thing is that they don't take reservations and sometimes the wait can be over 2 hours long for a table but..... SO worth it. First, moving up here from south Florida, the "caribbean" food is just mehhh. On the other hand, the caribbean drinks are fantastic! We ordered the ribs, duck empanadas, and the ribeye steak. I think things are quite overpriced for a mediocre taste. It also seems like they are never prepared. They aren't prepared for large parties, or a busy night, or happy hour, or Friday night. RUMBA IS RIDICULOUS! I made a reservation for 15 and was told we'd be seated in the bus parked out back. I had NO IDEA what to expect and, upon arrival, I was mind-blown! We were escorted out back to a small school bus that was painted like the ocean, the table was a surfboard, and there was wrap around seating. The food was DELICIOUS, service was great, and the drinks were fuego-especially the rum punch!! I would most certainly recommend for some weekend fun, especially with a group of 8 or more which gets you the bus! read more

Great restaurant and experience. Had a reservation, and they took us the minute we arrived with no wait despite it being packed. Really fun atmosphere, although the music is super loud especially inside making it impossible to have a conversation. The duck empanadas are a must get, you won't regret them. So flavorful and delicious. We got different combinations of tacos. The Rastaman taco is also a must try. It has amazing fried avocado that goes perfectly with crunchy slaw and corn. The pulled rib taco is also perfection, topped with perfectly crisp thin fried onions. The chili rubbed pork tenderloin my friend got was also so tender and tasty. The rum punch was disappointing and nothing special - very strong but the flavor was boring and un memorable. The blackberry mojito and the hot and sweet margarita were beyond delicious and are a must try. The valet was really annoying. He saw we were with a baby yet he pulled the car up way in front of us and made us schlep through the gravel parking lot with a stroller. What is the point of the valet if they just making things more inconvenient? Overall excellent food and fun atmosphere, would definitely return. read more

I am so tired of places that have potential and just serve mediocre food. Here is my low down: Price fix $28.99, had Dominican ribs that were only warm and plenty greasy, should have been crisper and with much more flavor. Jerk Chicken was a full size boneless chicken breast that was probably marinated in some seasoning that just did not have any bright flavor, actually asked for salt to get the flavor going. Key lime pie with graham cracker crust was good but then topped with what I call fake whipped cream, too thick to be anything else. Just step it up and deliver some honest good tasting food, you have the location. read more

The location is amazing. You get sit and eat with a view of the water. Their staff are very attentive and friendly. If you come here you must get the Dominican Ribs, the other reviews don't lie! The meat literally comes right off the bones and other than it being pretty burnt in some spots, I have no complaints. As for appetizers, I can't really say since we ordered the daily specials. Hit this place up for late lunch, early dinner. Wow...great choice. Sitting with a water view outside. Great breeze. Big Sangria and rum punch. All the food was great including the dessert which we should have skipped because my butt doesn't need more dessert. Had a great experience here. Beautiful location right on the water, just wish it was a less cloudy day so we could see the sun go down. My friends and I started with the Dominican ribs and the guacamole of the day (pulled pork with fried onions.) the pork and guacamole was surprising a delicious combination. And the ribs were just next level. Then we had different types of tacos (pulled pork, avocado, buffalo chicken, jerk chicken) they were all very good with the tortilla being very fresh. I had the Buffalo chicken taco which was good but wasn't enough of a taco for me so I probably would go with the Buffalo chicken. We went here with a group of 13 (including 7 kids under 6)! When I called to make the reservation they told me for a group that large they would suggest the private room (which is actually a bus, overlooking the bay). Thought the kids would really get a kick out of it! Staff was super friendly and food was good (we especially liked the tacos). The coconut risotto was ehhh, would skip that the next time. Since the restaurant is right on the bay with a dock outside, it was great for keeping the kids occupied. The only downside for us was that we were there on a pretty hot day (upper 80s) and the bus's AC couldn't quite keep up so we cut the AC and opened all the windows, even with a mild breeze it got too hot and we were all sweaty and sticky by the time we left (so much so we didn't get to order dessert). :( Would definitely go back but if I was with a group (and seated on the bus, not on such a hot day). read more

This restaurant is really cool. The Caribbean decor somehow works, even though you're in Long Island, and the food is delicious. The service was good - not spectacular - but good.
