Came here to get drinks after the beach with some friends. Great location! Drinks were a little pricey but excellent. I ordered the watermelon mojito which was amazing. OK so why the 5 stars? I don't usually give them away. After reading the reviews, I had to go find this place. It is everything some fellow reviewers said it was but of course, I have my own opinions.. It is nestled in a residential area along the bay and I almost drove right by it. Pulling in to the small parking lot we were greeted by a valet parking attendant that was a salty dog (middle-age sailor-surfer type) with charm and charisma. The hostesses were friendly and luckily, we were seated promptly as it was still Happy Hour. Walking in to this place was like being transported to the Caribbean at warp speed. It had reggae music, tropical tunes, palm leaf ceiling fans, and the beach bar décor that you would expect while on vacation. This place made me feel like I was on vacation, at least for a few hours. First off, I tried the rum punch (not my usual drink as I prefer a good beer, bourbon or scotch). It was fantastic, served in a mason jar and very easy to have a few. Next I tried the pimento and guacamole appetizer, that was fantastic, as well. The guac was pretty good, I make a mean guacamole myself, so I am hyper-critical of these. If I can make it better at home, I don't usually like paying for a mediocre one. This one was good but it could have used a little more life. Good enough for the pedestrian guac consumer though. For dinner, we tried the jerk chicken and coconut risotto. The jerk chicken was as good as any I've had in Jamaica (been there 3 times) but they could've added one more big spoon of risotto to the plate. The second dinner plate was the Dominican ribs. They were fall-of-the-bone tender, delicious and robust. The sweet potatoes were OK. They could use a little more creativity (and cooking time) in preparation. Dessert was the key lime pie with a fresh graham cracker crust, easily the best I've had in several years. The coffee was fresh and strong and lightened our vision for the drive out. Last but not least, kudos to our waitress Lauren, she was pleasant, knowledgeable, warm and knew how to do her job better than most. They also have a boat ride to their sister restaurant, Cowfish, which had an equally appealing menu. I'll try it on my next visit. So you see despite my personal preferences and biases, this establishment is very well organized, thought out and was a pleasure to experience. Congratulations, Mr. H, on a job well done!! read more

My boyfriend and I visited Rumba during restaurant week and it was fantastic! We had the crab and avocado salad as well as the empanadas to start. Both had great flavors and textures. For our main course we had the burger and the mahi. The shrimp that came with the mahi was outstanding and my fish was cooked perfectly. His burger was good as well. While there we also did the rum punch which was outstanding as well. The view and atmosphere were also great. The only thing holding this review back from 5 stars is afterwards we both started feeling a bit queasy. Besides that we had a great time and will certainly be back! read more

By far the best tacos I've had. For the table we chose the Caribbean wings, Dominican ribs and the duck empanadas to start. Everything was simply delicious. As far as the meal I had 3 tacos. I chose skirt steak, carnitas and pulled pork. Don't skip the dessert the key lime pie and the praline cheese cake was delicious. Our server Nico was amazing. This restaurant could be one of the best around. However, after going there and paying $12 for a 1/4 of a glass of wine. I even asked for more wine...didn't receive it. Rules. Also was handed a beeper to wait for a table. It malfunctioned...watched people come and go. Asked hostess. She said she didn't know who we were...left name with her and no one came looking. Not that big a place. Hostess gave me a new beeper and put me at bottom of list. I questioned this. Rules. I think the training is not great here. The host who originally put my name on list saw us standing there for awhile and he knew who we were. Drink prices will cause this place to fold quickly. Never stayed for dinner but have eaten there before. Lunch is ok and so is dinner but not worth the prices. Too bad. Great atmosphere. Go eat at Tullys by Dune Road. read more

Love Rumba. We were there with family last weekend. They are always so accommodating. Dominican ribs are amazing. Drinks are all delicious. Amazing! All summer my girlfriends have been ranting and raving about this place. I live a bit out of the way but finally my husband and I decided that for a date night it would be fit and appropriate to take a hike out there and give it a try! (Besides, she may have given us a gift card so it was a perfect opportunity to put it to use...) We went for lunch. We arrived and the restaurant was fairly crowded. The hostess told us we could sit wherever we'd like so of course we found our way to high-topped seat overlooking the water! We were greeted fairly quickly by our waitress Jess. She was friendly and energetic and seemed to know every detail about the food! She recommended at first a Key-Lime Martini! WOW!! I wound up having a second one and lucky for us we were able to relax for a while so I could regain my sobriety! Our waitress suggested ribs which were to die for! They fell rite off the bone and were so yummy my husband wound up ordering them again for his dinner! I ordered the MAHI MAHI DISH! It was to die for! The sauce was SO CREAMY and great with the mashed potatos!!!! Through out the entire experience we could not help but notice the energy of the staff! Multiple wait staff arrived to clean our plates after each course and even gave new forks and knives after they were sticky from our first course of the ribs! I have been dining very often in my age and was IMPRESSED by the staff! We were far too full for dessert but we will be back again to make sure we get a KEY LIME PIE to assist the devine martini I will forever be craving! Winter is not a great time to go, because it's not as lively, but it does make for a more comfortable atmosphere and enjoyable dinner. Bar drinks are good, food is good, and atmosphere is good. Service is good too. Not the best place in the area, but not the worst. I wouldn't wait around for a long time for a seat, i would just go back when it's less busy. Love love love Rumba! This place right here is always a good time and a good meal. Park your car in the lot and take the Rumba yellow bus with blasting music and enjoy some delicious cocktails and food. The drinks here are amazing especially the mango margaritas. Hands down the best artichokes ever and that dipping sauce omg it is so good! The sweet chili glazed ribs are amazing yum yum yum. The tacos here are also a must try especially the fish tacos and the pork and fried onion tacos. The seared tuna salad is also very good. The glazed salmon is a nice meal . This is a really special place! Fun atmosphere, especially in the warmer weather, with the deck and dock in back overlooking the water. The service is good. I recommend making reservations weekend nights, again, especially summer - this place gets busy. I got to eat in the bus in the back on one occasion and it was so cool, intimate, unique! Called ahead for an early Sunday dinner and was told reservations were not required and there was a 20 minute wait. We arrived 5 minutes later and told by the valet manager there was a 45 minute wait if you did not have a reservation! We went in anyway and were sat immediately. Go figure. So they don't excel at communications but their food is very good. When there is lots of butter and heavy cream in play, what could be bad? Based on other Yelpers had their duck empanadas to start, ribs, coconut risotto and scallops for dinner. All were very hearty but heavy. The scallop dinner would have benefitted from a crunchy element. Not a place for quiet conversation unless you sit outside. Turns out they do take reservations but 24 hours in advance. They also have a fun pontoon boat that shuttles back and forth from Rumba to their sister restaurant Cowfish, which btw had a 2.5 hour wait for dinner the night before. Arrived at 155pm yesterday for lunch and told our wait would be 30-35 minutes. We gave the hostess our cell number and ordered drinks and sat outside by the water. We then went back 45 minutes later for an update, only to be told by same hostess that she called us and then gave away the table when we didn't answer! She also knew we were sitting nearby. Turns out she entered the wrong cell number, but an apology was not initially offered. She was young and might have been having a bad day, but there were a number of empty dirty tables Waiting to be bussed. We were seated another 10 minutes later, this time with an apology. We didn't leave because we were hungry and already waited an hour. Very unprofessional! On the plus side, our waitress was Anita, and she was great! Attentive and friendly! We shared fish, beef, and vegetarian tacos, wings, roasted corn, and the double dip chips: all were very good. Happy ending to a misstep beginning, but management needs to know about this. No doubt the food is very good. Chef knows his craft but I deducted one star bc of the noise. Not only the restaurant is overcrowded during the summer but because all the pp waiting for the table around the bar making it too packed and extremely loud. Lucky if you have a table outside where is a little less noisy (still many pp standing and waiting). Also even if you have a reservation you still have to wait for the table. My boyfriend and I split duck empanadas, chips with guac, and the Dominican ribs. Everything was soooo good. The duck empanadas were different, but delicious. The Dominican ribs were out of this world, definite must try! They came with sweet potatoes, which were incredible! The passion fruit piña colada wasn't too sweet and tasted very fresh and not syrupy. The restaurant looks like a surf shack and has a gorgeous view. It was happy hour so I scored myself some duck empanadas and crab cakes for half off. catch is, you have to sit at the bar..You feel like you're on vacation here.
