Nestled in a great part of Long Island. Wow again. The drinks like Rum Punch, and Mojito and Kamikaze are unbelievably great. Based on the reviews we decided to give this place a try-- so glad we did. The Duck Empanadas were delicious-- so much so we had to put in a second order (yes, they were just as good the second time). They were bursting with flavor, had a great flaky texture and wasn't at all greasy-- basically everything you would want from an Empanada. Although I will say that I could've done without the sauce that came on the side. But don't let that stop you, you should def order the Duck Empanadas to start. For my entree I had the Soy and Sugar Cane Salmon. It had a subtle smoky flavor with a light glaze. It came with coconut risotto which I did not enjoy. But that may have been my fault for seriously underestimating my dislike for coconut flavored foods. It also came with 'veggie of the day', which was corn on the cob that night so I swapped it out for the field greens salad. I came here with my boyfriend for the first time and couldn't be any happier. The food was amazing. We tried the Caribbean wings and the shrimp guacamole as an appetizer. The wings were so juicy, crispy and flavorful. My boyfriend had the Jamaican jerk chicken with coconut risotto. I had the cheeseburger with fries. It was delicious. i cant believe my eyes when i see reviews toting this nothing restaurant as the "best in the hamptons". the only thing done right in this house of mediocrity is the rum punch...but then they go and blow that by charging $26 for a pitcher half filled with ice. i sample the so called seared tuna appetizer but what was placed in front of me was tuna that was basically cooked through with a mushy texture much like cat food. i guess the "chef" missed the day they taught searing fish at the culinary institute of america...hah. the tacos are also laughable and i would guess that the meat being used was not marinated for more than 5 minutes and is also improperly seasoned. the duck empanadas are edible although i couldnt taste much duck. as far as entrees ive tried the ribs, the salmon, and the shrimp, all improperly seasoned and all bland. the service is fine and friendly and i just love when the chef walks around the dinning room like king richard the fourth handing out sweaty handshakes. he should probably spend more time in the kitchen and less time patting himself on the back and genitals. best, maxta p read more

This is my second visit to Rumba and yet again it does not fail to disappoint! The food here is fabulous and so are the drinks. Tip- order the ribs because the meat just falls off the bone! Food came out shortly after. Food had great presentation but lacked flavor. The tacos were pretty bland and so was the risotto. Maybe it was just our taste buds but overall great experience. Food was good, service was awful. When we arrived with a party of 9 they told us they weren't allowed to seat parties of more than 8. Meanwhile there was a party of 11 right in the middle of the place. We had called ahead and they never mentioned anything about large parties. Hostesses just seemed to lie about wait - at one point they claimed they couldn't seat us because they were going to be shut down in a few weeks-not sure what that's all about. Hampton Bays is definitely not known for excellent restaurants but I was quite excited when I discovered this place. People were telling us about it left and right so we decided we needed to check it out on Friday night of Memorial Day Weekend. Called 20 minutes before we got there and were told our name was added to the list. Awesome, if only restaurants that don't take reservations in NYC would do the 20 minute rule. Anyway, we arrived and were immediately seated. Love the ambiance and the cool fan like structures on the ceiling. Our waitress Krystal was the sweetest person ever. There were not many things on the menu that I could eat as is, and she was super accommodating. She let me know that the crab cake salad could be done without the crab cake and add more vegetables. She recommended all the side dishes and informed me which had dairy and which didn't. I couldn't believe how helpful she was - it's rare to find that service. I ended up with the onion strings, mashed potatoes, spinach and the crab cake salad. The salad was AMAZING - fresh mango and papaya, yum! The onion strings were a bit too fried and less flavorful. Spinach was outrageous. I'm sure you didn't think "outrageous" and "spinach" could go in the same sentence but really, it was that good. Mashed potatoes were yummy. I was really impressed by this restaurant and especially the service. I went back again the following week. Kate was our waitress and she was the most spunky, helpful and kindest waitress. Instead, it was raining, I had to wait for an indoor table despite having a reservation, and it was loud inside the restaurant. Also, parking is valet only and very limited, so be prepared to wait quite awhile when dropping off and picking up your car (and I went on a Monday night). But enough griping. The staff is friendly, the drinks are great, and the food on the somewhat limited menu is delicious. Desserts are enough for two. Tried it for the first time with friends and instantly fell in love with the place. You can get away from the work grind and really have a great time. The food was delicious tons of variety and carribean taste. I had the shrimp burger it was very good. The bar and homemade rum and drinks are so good. From the moment we walked in and then had the guacamole and crab dip appetizer we agreed we found our new weekend spot. Our server was Samantha and was friendly fast and very helpful.
