The definition of "overrated". The only reason it got 2 stars was because of the rum punch. Overpriced and under portioned.

We recently ate at Rumba and felt like we were VIPs the entire evening. There was a mistake with our reservation, however the manager Craig resolved it and made sure that all of my friends had a fun night! Our party of 7 sat outside on the deck and overlooked the beautiful bay. This was the perfect ending to my sister's bachelorette party! We all had a blast and enjoyed the incredible atmosphere and delicious food at Rumba. Highly recommend sunset cocktails at Cowfish and then taking the scenic boat ride to Rumba! read more

Love the tacos, and the view. Parking sucks, but the drinks, food and ambiance make up for it.

Great food, drinks and vibe. Liked their ahi tuna appetizer, tacos, jerk chicken, ribeye, and pork tenderloin dishes. If nothing else, the homemade key lime pie is a must! A perfect compliment to end your meal. Sooo looking forward to going back there next summer and every summer! read more

I came to Rumba. Always had good quality food in the past. But today , it was disgusting. Had the coconut risotto. Over cooked horribly and no flavor of coconut anywhere. Ordered the Jerk Chicken Tacos. No flavor at all. Popeyes chicken has more flavor. To make it worse , service was terrible. I won't be returning here to eat. Not quality in the kitchen. They need new line cooks. read more

Absolutely incredible! Everything we had was out of this world amazing. Rum punch is the way to go! Actually, you really can't go wrong. Don't even question going here, JUST GO...actually, run there. Very good! read more

Food was good, service was awful. When we arrived with a party of 9 they told us they weren't allowed to seat parties of more than 8. Meanwhile there was a party of 11 right in the middle of the place. We had called ahead and they never mentioned anything about large parties. Hostesses just seemed to lie about wait - at one point they claimed they couldn't seat us because they were going to be shut down in a few weeks-not sure what that's all about. When we were finally seated after 1.5 hours food was good, and waiter was nice. Still don't think I would go back. read more

More of a bar atmosphere. Fun and decent food if you like seafood. I wouldn't bring anyone over 60 here it's kind of for younger people. Good service read more

We had the rib tacos, one if the jerk tacos and the coconut risotto YUMMY!!! Delicious food, amazing view and substantial amount of gluten free options! read more

Horrible service. Waited 30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation (so did everyone else-they were clearly over booked). They served us the food as fast as possible, they were trying to to turn over the tables quickly as they had many parties just standing and waiting. Our food was cold. They served us the wrong order. The margaritas were pre mixed with the tequila- just poured it on ice. Over priced for such horrible service. If the food were hot it would have been good. Overall not recommended. read more

Service was outstanding. The location of the restaurant is great. Fish tacos and guacamole are absolutely amazing.

Just got take out, was delicious! The Rum punch will make your day! Staff very friendly and extra helpful! Highly recommended! But if you live local, you already know ! read more

Hampton Bays is definitely not known for excellent restaurants but I was quite excited when I discovered this place. People were telling us about it left and right so we decided we needed to check it out on Friday night of Memorial Day Weekend. Called 20 minutes before we got there and were told our name was added to the list. Awesome, if only restaurants that don't take reservations in NYC would do the 20 minute rule. Anyway, we arrived and were immediately seated. Love the ambiance and the cool fan like structures on the ceiling. Our waitress Krystal was the sweetest person ever. There were not many things on the menu that I could eat as is, and she was super accommodating. She let me know that the crab cake salad could be done without the crab cake and add more vegetables. She recommended all the side dishes and informed me which had dairy and which didn't. I couldn't believe how helpful she was - it's rare to find that service. I ended up with the onion strings, mashed potatoes, spinach and the crab cake salad. The salad was AMAZING - fresh mango and papaya, yum! The onion strings were a bit too fried and less flavorful. Spinach was outrageous. I'm sure you didn't think "outrageous" and "spinach" could go in the same sentence but really, it was that good. Mashed potatoes were yummy. I was really impressed by this restaurant and especially the service. I went back again the following week. Kate was our waitress and she was the most spunky, helpful and kindest waitress. Once again, accommodating for all my food quirks. Can't wait to go back AGAIN! read more

Didn't even make it inside! Valet guy was so rude we decided to take our business elsewhere. Absolute disgrace!

It was raining during our beach day at the Hamptons so we didnt experience the sunset. The food here is just okay. We had the fish tacos which were edible but nothing more. read more

I could probably have added a star if the weather had been good, and I had been seated on the outdoor deck with a breathtaking view of the water. Instead, it was raining, I had to wait for an indoor table despite having a reservation, and it was loud inside the restaurant. Also, parking is valet only and very limited, so be prepared to wait quite awhile when dropping off and picking up your car (and I went on a Monday night). But enough griping. The staff is friendly, the drinks are great, and the food on the somewhat limited menu is delicious. Desserts are enough for two. The bill climbs quickly; dinner for two with drinks, desserts, tax, and tip (and NO appetizers) came to over $100. read more

We ate here last night and the food was great. Everyone at our table thought their food was the best, ribs where outstanding, Salmon was flavorful and moist. Casual dining. read more

My wife and I had lunch here recently. Great location on the water. Duck empanadas and crab cakes were overpriced but great starters. Service was friendly but very slow. She loved her 3 tacos even though One had a big bone in it! The much-hyped ribs were good but way overpriced and not all that special distinct in flavor or remarkable. read more

My wife and I went there for our anniversary. The atmosphere gives you a vacation feel even if you are only miles from home. We started with rum punch before diner while overlooking the water. My wife had the rib eye and I had crab cakes and we split dominican ribs as appetizer , everything was delicious ! For dessert you must try the keylime pie. Afterwards we took a pontoon boat over to their other place ( Indian cove ) for drinks. Great night , I highly recommend . read more

Great meal at Rumbas. Fish tacos at the bar while waiting for our table ...excellent. The Dominican ribs were spicy and tender and the seared tuna was very fresh. The soy and cane sugar glazed salmon over coconut risotto was very tasty and the Mahi Mahi was also fabulous . read more

I came here with my boyfriend and two of his friends at their suggestion on a Sunday night. Right off the bat, parking was insane but they were able to fit us somehow. We didn't have a reservation and were given a 1hr 15min wait. Never in my life. Our friends seemed to really want to eat here, so we sat at the loud, crowded bar to wait for our table. Bartenders were probably the best of all the staff we encountered. Attentive and hustling, made great drinks and quickly brought us a few apps while we waited. We finally got to our table after about 45 minutes and had two, maybe three different servers come by over the course of our meal and all were confused about if/what we had already ordered. We waited at least another 30 mins for the food which in my opinion was just okay, everyone else seemed to enjoy it though. It was impossible to get a hold of any wait staff to bring another round of drinks so we ate our meals without them. Prices were fair, I guess. Other things to note: the music is blaring, kids running around the already hectic floor with no parents in sight, and the bathroom barely had any soap, which seems like a pretty significant oversight given the current circumstances. One server had a mask, otherwise none in sight. I will not be returning. read more

Tried it for the first time with friends and instantly fell in love with the place. You can get away from the work grind and really have a great time. The food was delicious tons of variety and carribean taste. I had the shrimp burger it was very good. The bar and homemade rum and drinks are so good. From the moment we walked in and then had the guacamole and crab dip appetizer we agreed we found our new weekend spot. Our server was Samantha and was friendly fast and very helpful. The decor the music the waterfront the boat ride all made it a great night. Thank you and we will definitely be back soon! read more

Nestled in a great part of Long Island. Wow again. The drinks like Rum Punch, and Mojito and Kamikaze are unbelievably great. Alexis, our server was courteous, incredibly hospitable, took time to explain, offered is alternatives that she wife liked. We were a party of four and this place is becoming like a place I could visit for a great time anytime!!!! The food like duck empanadas & ribs are fantastic!!! My friend Tried the scallops and they were scrumptious!!!! Kudos to the management and the team at Rumba!!! read more

Wholly crap I love this place. We were there for Wednesday lunch. Alexis was our very attentive and patient server. The rib appetizer was bursting with flavor. The rum punch packed a nice little punch. The shrimp sandwich and crab cake salad were filling and flavorful. Even the fries were perfectly cooked and did not require catsup for flavor. The key lime pie and the house banana vanilla rum should be packaged to go. Will be back next time we are in the neighborhood. Oh - loved the deck view too. Take a walk on the peer after to reflect on a great place to slow down and enjoy. read more

Great drinks and the best restaurant in Hampton Bays (although thats not saying much). I also like that there are a range of prices on the menu, something for every budget. Fish tacos and coconut risotto are mmm mmm. read more

Loved the atmosphere. ..The staff is very friendly! The weather was perfect we were seated in the covered patio but we could still enjoy the view. We ordered mostly appetizers ...Dominican ribs and the duck empanadas are a must. Love this place. You won't b disappointed. Food is great n so r the drinks. Highly recommend.

Wow! What a view and what great food! The Ahi Tuna salad was fantastic, but the chicken wing appetizer was the best I've ever had! A combination of Siracha and coconut milk coating the wings gave them heat and lusciousness. read more

OK so why the 5 stars? I don't usually give them away. After reading the reviews, I had to go find this place. It is everything some fellow reviewers said it was but of course, I have my own opinions.. It is nestled in a residential area along the bay and I almost drove right by it. Pulling in to the small parking lot we were greeted by a valet parking attendant that was a salty dog (middle-age sailor-surfer type) with charm and charisma. The hostesses were friendly and luckily, we were seated promptly as it was still Happy Hour. Walking in to this place was like being transported to the Caribbean at warp speed. It had reggae music, tropical tunes, palm leaf ceiling fans, and the beach bar décor that you would expect while on vacation. This place made me feel like I was on vacation, at least for a few hours. First off, I tried the rum punch (not my usual drink as I prefer a good beer, bourbon or scotch). It was fantastic, served in a mason jar and very easy to have a few. Next I tried the pimento and guacamole appetizer, that was fantastic, as well. The guac was pretty good, I make a mean guacamole myself, so I am hyper-critical of these. If I can make it better at home, I don't usually like paying for a mediocre one. This one was good but it could have used a little more life. Good enough for the pedestrian guac consumer though. For dinner, we tried the jerk chicken and coconut risotto. The jerk chicken was as good as any I've had in Jamaica (been there 3 times) but they could've added one more big spoon of risotto to the plate. The second dinner plate was the Dominican ribs. They were fall-of-the-bone tender, delicious and robust. The sweet potatoes were OK. They could use a little more creativity (and cooking time) in preparation. Dessert was the key lime pie with a fresh graham cracker crust, easily the best I've had in several years. The coffee was fresh and strong and lightened our vision for the drive out. Last but not least, kudos to our waitress Lauren, she was pleasant, knowledgeable, warm and knew how to do her job better than most. They also have a boat ride to their sister restaurant, Cowfish, which had an equally appealing menu. I'll try it on my next visit. So you see despite my personal preferences and biases, this establishment is very well organized, thought out and was a pleasure to experience. Congratulations, Mr. H, on a job well done!! read more

My boyfriend and I visited Rumba during restaurant week and it was fantastic! We had the crab and avocado salad as well as the empanadas to start. Both had great flavors and textures. For our main course we had the burger and the mahi. The shrimp that came with the mahi was outstanding and my fish was cooked perfectly. His burger was good as well. While there we also did the rum punch which was outstanding as well. The view and atmosphere were also great. The only thing holding this review back from 5 stars is afterwards we both started feeling a bit queasy. Besides that we had a great time and will certainly be back! read more

This restaurant could be one of the best around. However, after going there and paying $12 for a 1/4 of a glass of wine. I even asked for more wine...didn't receive it. Rules. Also was handed a beeper to wait for a table. It malfunctioned...watched people come and go. Asked hostess. She said she didn't know who we were...left name with her and no one came looking. Not that big a place. Hostess gave me a new beeper and put me at bottom of list. I questioned this. Rules. I think the training is not great here. The host who originally put my name on list saw us standing there for awhile and he knew who we were. Drink prices will cause this place to fold quickly. Never stayed for dinner but have eaten there before. Lunch is ok and so is dinner but not worth the prices. Too bad. Great atmosphere. Go eat at Tullys by Dune Road. read more
