Once again an absolutely wonderful dining experience! Tonight our daughter's friend joined us and she's a vegetarian. I never checked to see if there were vegetarian options at Rumba but I was so happy to see there were! In fact there were several options on the menu for her to enjoy. We started her with the dip and chips (guacamole and spicy cheese). She also had a Rastaman taco and a veggie burger. She loved everything! I had the amazing tuna burger, son had the steak, hubby had the pork loin and my daughter had steak tacos. We come to Rumba year round and we are always impressed with the service and how organized everyone is. Their year's summertime hostess is extremely nice and always friendly. The service was so rushed. We had a a bill for over $100 and we were seated for 45 minutes. The mains were served while the appetizers were on the table for under 10 minutes. One of our cocktails sat on the bar for 10 minutes getting watered down while the other one was served. Our server was so rushed, he made three errors on our order. The place wasn't even that packed. I had high hopes for this place, but was disappointed. I think they need an extra person or two on the floor to provide a more thorough customer service experience. read more

Rumba is a very good restaurant on the Bay. The views are beautiful and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You escape to a tropical paradise as you eat a delicious meal. The rum drinks are exquisite but be prepared to pay for that. Drinks are expensive. The reason for the 3 rating instead of the 4 is because the menu is limited. My husband is more of a meat and potato guy, so there isn't much for him to eat. More of an island cuisine. I would recommend a couple more less sweet choices so we could come more often. read more

I've been eating at rumba since it opened. Major decline in quality of food this summer. I understand that they rotate their chefs with in the kitchen. This is evident when one orders the same dishes each time. This past time, the manager refused (but begrudgingly) did honor an offer from the receptionist because the happy hour posting was not updated. It takes one bad review and word of mouth to spread versus honoring an offer to cover one free dessert. If you go, make sure Mike the manager is not on duty. Hopefully, he's home reading the great restauranteur Danny Meyers book "setting the table". This book exemplifies great customer service when there is an issue. read more

We had a party of 6, on a Wednesday night,, before i get into the service I have to say everyone loved what they ordered, except two persons said they expected larger portions. For starters, we had baked oysters and also ribs.. great tastes, and entrees had sauces and seasonings were strong and unusual but not overpowering, Now the service.. every place can have their off night.. I may be spoiled, but I expect good service wherever i go.. this place really annoyed me (I am being polite) The staff was "friendly" but seemed to be handling the tables as a part time job. Nice smiles, but then they would disappear for long periods. 5 of us had beer,, someone plopped down 5 bottles,, I never even got a chance to ask for a glass,, the bus boy came over with 6 plates , set one at a setting and gave us the remainder to divvy up by our selves,, this happened twice, we were halve way thru the sitting before we got water, after having to ask for it.. I think we saw our waitress three times... I was very tempted to leave a minimum tip, but my friends over ruled me. What a hidden gem. Great food and service. Had chips and the jalapeño and pimento cheese. Amazing! The biggest chips I've ever seen. Got the Island Burger which had grilled pineapple, lettuce and great spicy mayo. Burger was really juicy and cooked perfectly. Others at the table got the cheeseburger and the tuna burger that were equally as good. Beautiful view of the water and excellent service. horrible! we waited more than two hours for a table and we never got it .. She was very unkind..it is unacceptable.. We came last Saturday, April 16th for the first time around 7:30 pm. We asked for a table for two and the hostess said the wait would be 45 minutes. After an hour I checked in with her and again she said at least 15 minutes. I was unhappy with her inaccurate estimates. Anyway we were hungry so after an hour and half we ordered some food and other drinks at the bar. In the meantime I asked again to the hostess that we were still waiting a table. She completely ignored me. Several tables were free but given to people who came after us. Although food and drinks were great as well as the atmosphere, the service was horrible. She was rude and unprofessional. Before leaving (after about 3 hours) I asked her about the table she arrogantly responded...... I have never left a negative review, but a hostess should be professional and respectful. read more

This was my first visit to Rumba. Food was so delicious from start to finish. I split the chip appetizer, had one of their special tacos of the day, and had desert. Love the portions, considering I normally can't finish my food at other restaurants. Server was friendly. I went at 1 o'clock and it wasn't very busy and the food came out in very good time. I did make a reservation and was sad to know that they don't reserve outside seating, but the great experience made up for it. I will definitely be returning. read more

been here many times. decided to bring my friends from queens here. they grabbed the last parking space so for the first time i had to take the Rumbus alone. cool experience. the bus runs every 5 mins to the remote parking lot down the road. anyway, finally get to the restaurant. we decided to order one rum punch for myself, and they ordered a 25 year aged nicaraguan rum that they raved about after. we then decided on the guacamole special for the evening (excellent), dominican ribs (awesome), and the duck empanadas, which happened to be my favorite. after that, we ordered two tacos each. we all ordered the shrimp taco, and one pulled pork, and the specials of the night. finished it off with tres leches cake. they added bananas and strawberries to it. it was a nice little twist in flavor than the traditional tres leches. my friend asked the waitress they had any dessert martinis and the waitress went above and beyond to accommodate her with a chocolate martini that wasn't on the menu. overall, great time. they were raving about coming back soon. thank you Rumba and staff for always a solid time read more

There's no denying the food and drinks at Rumba are delicious. Service is good as well. My husband and I were there at 5:30 on a Saturday night, had a 15 minute wait and were seated. The issue we had was that we were distinctly rushed. There was no down time in between courses (we had 4). Then, two separate managers kept circling, staring at my husband and I, willing us to leave. While there was a wait at this point, we were spending a good amount of money to only be rushed through our meal. Haven't decided if we're returning. So heads up, if you're looking for a relaxing dinner, don't go to Rumba. read more
