I came here by pontoon boat from Cowfish. It was late and very crowded. I saw a school bus full of people which seemed to be a dining table I believe. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Very small bar and not much of a place to have a drink when it's crowded. The menu had decent prices but I was only coming for a drink. I had a passionfruit pina colada. It was super tasty. Just ate here with my family after reading about the raving reviews and my oh my were we impressed. We ordered the Dominican Ribs, Mussels, and Seared Ahi Tuna appetizers and they were all absolutely delicious. Smallest critique would have been warmer ribs upon arrival, they were a bit on the luke warm side but still 5 stars worthy. We then went on to order 4 assorted tacos (my brother loved them - Shrimp was one of his favorites of all time, Carnitas, and two others all savory). I had the Pork Tenderloin with Risotto and Maduro, stunning flavors. My parents both ordered the Blackened Mahi and were blown away by the flavors. All of the flavors were most definitely a delectable adventure. Waitress and staff were A+, on top of service and very friendly. We were in from NYC and had a really amazing time at this restaurant. When I tell you this is one of the best places to eat on the island I'm not exaggerating. My friend and I live an hour away from the Hampton's and we drive out at least twice a month to go eat here. Whatever you choose to eat, you will not be disappointed. We personally prefer the double dip appetizer, Caesar salad, and their tacos. I recommend getting the double dip with two scoops of pimento cheese dip instead of guac, I promise you will not be disappointed. If you're in the Hampton Bay area and tired of eating the same type of cuisine, I highly recommend that you check out the Rumba. Try your best to make a reservation because they can get quite busy on the weekends and for good reason. First of all as soon as you walk in you will notice the outstanding view of the Peconic bay, and immediately feel as if you are on vacation. Caribbean music can usually be heard on the speakers and the atmosphere is super laid-back. Make sure to try their tropical rum punch as well as their other cocktails. I highly recommend ordering a few of their tacos, I ordered the buffalo soldier taco, shrimp taco and if you go for brunch they usually have a specialty taco. I absolutely love their Caribbean wings, they are smothered in a sweet and savory sauce and are quite large. Came here for my friends bachelorette. I was able to reserve the rumba bus. It was amazing. You could see the water, it was private, we could be as loud as we wanted to. There is ac in the bus. Rumba is an experience. Skip the valet just to pick up the Rumba bus for a quick and fun ride to the restaurant. Or...park at Cowfish (affiliated and down the road) and take the Rumba Barge for a great trip in the bay to the dock outside Rumba. Rumba always has a wait. Expect to wait a long time on weekends. Weekdays is more manageable. No reservations for small parties. We have waited long and while that stinks, the estimated waiting time is always accurate (for better or worse..). But you can grab a drink at the bar and go sit outside at the dock and enjoy the view of the bay. Nothing on the menu is a throw away. The simple food like tacos and wings (man...the Caribbean wings!) are simply fantastic. The higher priced entrees are creative and delicious. The sea scallops with coconut risotto, the pan seared tuna salad...excellent. The key lime pie caps the meal perfectly. Rumba is a rockstar. It would have gotten a 5 star rating if I didn't have to drive in circles and take there boat to rumba from there sister restaurant, Cowfish due to the fact that there was no parking. Other then that it was a great experience upon my arrival! The valet gentlemen offered to take photoshoots of all of us and the service and meals were great!!!!! This place is one of the BEST on the East End hands down! I've been there two times in the last week and once again , they knocked its out of the ball park ! I started off with a rum punch "BIGGA" that was fantastic! It kicked my butt ! Haha! I then had the grilled artichokes which were chargrilled to perfection . The tender juicy artichoke meat came off so smoothly and tasty. Then came out probably the best grilled salmon , coconut risotto and julienne carrots ever made in this world. Update from last review 2 years ago. We have been loyal, frequent patrons of Rumba for many years, but a recent dinner there completely missed the mark. I'm not sure if they changed hands or not but there were some pretty significant differences in our experience compared to the last few years. Consistency was always our #1 reason for continuing to go, but our last dinner we felt like the portions were WAY smaller. Even the double dip. The dips were cut in half. The tacos are also noticeably smaller and filled with less goodies...and the mixed cocktails tasted as if they put 1/4 of the alcohol they used to. You should be at least a little buzzed after an $18 rum punch...but I felt nothing. Also, their prices are are noticeably higher across the board. Food was tasty but it's not a good feeling if you've been a loyal customer and are paying higher prices for less food. read more

Rumba is a solid five star joint in my books and here's why... Everything these guys do here freakin' rocks...not only do they KISS but they do things the right way. They pay attention to detail, the service is always top notch yet casual and very on-point, never an attitude, and beyond friendly. Frank and Shawn (usually behind the bar) are beyond fantastic - these guys get it, there's never any bullshit, and they're always making sure you're taken care of. It's really difficult to find a place like Rumba that is not only superbly consistent (drink, food, and service wise) but so casual at the same time; everyone is always here to have fun and just relax/enjoy what they have to offer. The views....ahhhh the views of Shinnecock bay, are always in sight and if you score a beautiful day, get there early and sit outside. You will NOT be disappointed, I promise you! Their FRESH coconut cream Pina Colada on the rocks (Passion fruit) - I challenge you to not only find a better tasting pina colada but one that is made FRESH without using any of that Island Oasis crap that most bars use which is not only disgusting, but calorie laden. By the way, I thought it was weird that theirs was on the rocks at first, but I will never go back to frozen or any other way if at all possible. It's done with Passion Fruit puree...KILLER. Order them in batches, so you don't have to wait going from your first to your second, or to your third. THIS DRINK is so good, it requires its own paragraph. They have a killer happy hour from M-F 4-6p where most of their killer drinks are HALF price ~$5 and many apps are discounted considerably! I'd begun to believe this location was cursed. Year after year, I've seen restaurants come and go in this waterfront spot. But I think Rumba is here to stay. My father and I stopped in for a drink after hearing rave reviews from several local friends. I LOVE the decor - simple, tropical, summery. The bartender was super friendly, and immediately helped me pick a drink to suit my tastes. He recommended the key lime martini, and WOW. Talk about out of this world. It was uttterly incredible, with a graham cracker crust and all. My father had a mango mojito, which he also reported to be outstanding. I also tried the dip trio - a cold cheese dip and guacamole. The guacamole was flavorful and delicious. My father had an ahi tuna appetizer which he devoured. The bartender chatted with us for the duration of our visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will definitely be returning for a full-on dinner next summer.
