The best place to eat and hang with friends and great looking staff and the ambience and view of the water off the charts

RUUUUUUMMMMMBAAAAAAAA! Staying in the gorgeous hamptons and was told to come to this place, glad we did.. It was a fun little experience taking the tiki boat from cowfish's dock to the rumba dock and back.. Parking is crazy over there so it's better to probably get dropped or take the little tiki taxi.. About a 20 min wait which was fine bc I wanted a mojito.. Mango, passion fruit mojito made me feel like I was on vacation.. Actually, being at this restaurant made me feel a little bit like I was away.. The Caribbean food smells (I was def smelling those ribs) filled the air and everyone seemed really chill, it was nice. We all had the Caesar salads which were delicious (how can you go wrong? Slightly overboard with the dressing but it was ok).. I had the seared ahi tuna, friends had the island rib eye with sweet potato mash and the Dominican ribs with fries... All perfectly seasoned, ribs were falling off of the bone and the ribeye was cooked perfection... My friend actually said "it was the best piece of meat she's put in her mouth" HAHHAHA DOUBT THAT.. Anyway it was delicious, I would come back here when in the area and would recommend it.. They have a good crowd here and drinks on the deck can turn into an all night affair I'm sure.. read more

I just wanted to put a small update in for Rumba. Having now been here during both the busy season and the dead of winter. This place is on point with every visit. The food has always been cooked to perfection on all our visits. The drinks are some of the best I've had in the area. And service is great. I highly recommend checking this place out to anyone that has never been. Try the ribs, you will say they are some of the best you've ever had. Also worth mentioning, the Mahi dish they make is one of the best I've ever. We will continue to make the trek but we're anxiously awaiting the opening for their next location (Patchogue). read more

SHAKE YOUR RUMBAAAAA!!! That's a little tribute to the Beastie Boys in memory of my man MCAAAAAAA. This is my favorite new spot in The Bays. It absolutely crushes any other place right now in terms of food and booze. Atmosphere isn't too shabby either. It's The service is great too. The waiters are friendly and the waitresses are cute. What more can you ask for? Here are a list of the best food items on the menu. The appetizers are what's up so don't be afraid to over order. Duck Empanada's - Flavor explosion in your mouth...the good kind Grilled Artichokes - Simple yet savory Dominican Ribs - Wow. Fall off the bone and incredible flavor Coconut Shrimp - *NEW* Two MASSIVE Shrimp with same dipping sauce as the empanadas Grilled Oysters - *Not on the menu anymore as far as I know* They were bomb though. Reminiscent of the New Orleans style Char Grilled oysters except they have cheese. Tacos - ALL of them are good but the Jerk Chicken, Fish and Pulled Rib are the best. The pulled rib taco has crispy onions and a sweet bbq sauce. So freaking good. As for the drinks, they make them strong and they go down easy. The Sangria is one of the best I've ever had and the Rum Punch will knock you on your ass. You can't go wrong with either or any of their other awesome concoctions. I've been to Rumba a bunch, but recently came here with the boyfriend for a late lunch/early dinner on MDW. The place was packed out, but the hostess managed to sit us right away on the outside deck. The waterfront views here, just like their sister restaurant, Cowfish, are on point. There's a dock (where the RumBarge is located) with plenty of seating so that you can enjoy a drink or two before/after dinner. There is also high top seating on the outside deck that overlooks the water. If you're stuck eating inside, there are plenty of opportunities throughout your night to go outside and enjoy the beautiful views-- especially if you decide to take a ride over to Cowfish on the RumBarge (highly recommended). Drinks and food are the bomb. The Rum punch is always a great choice. It's served in a mason jar and the smallest size is actually pretty large (and strong!). My two absolute favorite menu items are: the Dominican ribs and the Sriracha wings. The ribs are so flavorful and the meat falls right off the bone. The wings are just delicious, end of story. We also ordered the sunset crab cake salad which was so refreshing and delicious (mind you, I'm not a huge crab cake fan) and we split three tacos-- the buffalo soldier, shrimp taco, and the smothered pulled rib taco. All great, but my favorite was the shrimp (which is a new menu item). Service here is always a pleasure. The food comes out quickly and every server/hostess/bartender is super friendly and willing to help you/each other out. Quick tip: Parking is limited. You can valet your car in the main parking lot, or there is a "Rum Bus" that will pick you up from the Mariner Cove Marina when the main lot is full. Moral of the story: Rumba is the bees knees. If you are given the opportunity to grab a bite here, you'd be crazy to pass it up. The atmosphere is fun, the vibe is laid back, and it's overall just a genuinely great experience. This might just be my favorite summer spot on all of Long Island and I would drive many miles just for a rack of their Dominican ribs. read more

Went for Linner with a friend. Awesome view of Canal.Ordered some Tacos ,one fish, one pulled pork, one steak.Fish was Mahi mahi and was lightly breaded and very good. Steak was a bit chewy, and pork was tender but sauce was a little too sweet. I had a side of coconut risotto which was kind of like a product I would get from Gerber. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I was highly disappointed by my experience today. Let it be known, this was my first experience as well! I am visiting from out of state and ordered a drink. The first I drink I received was fine. But the second time I tried to order one, they took my ID and came back to tell me they don't have experience with my states ID. they leave for about 5 mins and come back to of ripped my ID up. They claimed they thought it was a "fake ID". It was clearly not a fake. The manager Stephanie was very disrespectful and rude towards my table after the fact. Soft drinks I ordered never came either. Had to go up and find the waitress to ask for them again. No one checked up on us, while it was clear they checked up on everyone else's table. This was an awful experience overall and I would never go back. I expected more from a high value establishment. read more

Honestly, the food is 5 stars but the service was soooo bad that they almost lost a star. I got to try the ribs, a Caesar salad and tacos. The ribs were really good. They were flavorful and juicy. The salad was ok. I like to add pepper to my salad but I couldn't find the waiter so I ate it went out. For dinner I got 3 tacos. The shrimp, the rastaman and the jerk chicken. The waiter, who disappeared at the start of our dinner, was nowhere to be seen. Our appetizers came out pretty quickly but it took a while between for our main courses. A table that came a while after us had appetizers and dinner and were leaving before we had our food. Another waiter brought out all of our food and instead of a shrimp taco they gave me a fish taco which I don't eat. I know it's weird but I have an order of how I eat things and I wanted to eat the shrimp taco first. Eventually our waiter came back and I got my shrimp taco but it took so long (I get it they made it fresh) I was barely hungry. The tacos were all good but the shrimp taco was the best. We did get free dessert because it was my friends birthday and I think the waiter realized we were upset he was nowhere to be seen. The key lime pie was delicious. read more

We came with a group of 5 on a Friday night and the place was packed. We were able to enjoy the sunset arriving about 7:30pm. We stopped here for a late lunch on our way out of the Hamptons after a long weekend. It definitely was a good choice. We had focused on seafood for every meal during our stay, and decided to save Rumba for last because of the Caribbean flair. Figured we would get something different when we visited. But we didn't.... still ordered seafood. First though, we had the double dip for an appetizer. A scoop of guacamole & jalapeno, and a scoop of pimento cheese, with a plate full of fresh chips. It was awesome. Then my wife had the sunset crab cake salad and I had the shrimp boat. Both were just as good as the appetizer. Great service, very friendly manager, and a nice little place inside. All I have to say is WOW. The food was beyond excellent and they made a sincere effort to accommodate my gluten free needs. That on top of a beautiful view and chill ambiance made our family dining experience one to remember. FOOD: -My father ordered the duck empanadas as an appetizer, which he deemed incredible and almost placed a second order for himself (I am vegetarian, so can not officially comment) -We ordered a combination of unique tacos ($5-6 each) and sides ($6 each) for our meal. As a GF vegetarian, I ate the rastaman taco (avocado, cabbage slaw, corn, and rasta sauce served in a lettuce leaf). It was quite epic. Everyone else at the table thoroughly enjoyed their taco selections as well. -GET THE COCONUT RISOTTO! You won't regret it. Plantains were delicious too. AMBIANCE: I love outdoor eating with a view, and this place has it. Also with good, chill music (jack Johnson variety) that was not too loud. We were seated outside with a storm approaching and the manager made sure to erect an awning. They also offer a private dining space in a refurbished minibus (located closer to the water adjacent to the building and parking lot) for private parties. I will definitely recommend this to friends and consider it for my own future event planning needs. PARKING: The only downside, but not bad enough to deter us from going. If you arrive before it is crowded you will be accommodated by free valet parking service (to make efficient use of their lot). We arrived when the lot was full, so parked 1/2 mile up the road (by the marina, a small sign indicates "satellite parking") and took the "rumba bus" back to the restaurant. At first, it was surprising to me how insanely popular this new place is. There really aren't that many places like it though - casual, mostly affordable, and relatively unpretentious for its darling waterfront location. At this early stage in Rumba's lifetime, however, a bit more practice is needed in both the food and service realms. The first time I was there, they forgot one of our appetizers entirely. We pointed it out after the meal and got a sincere apology, but we didn't notice until later that we were charged anyway. The menu is somewhat baffling as it's all over the map - Caribbean, Asian, Cajun, South American, Mexican, the list goes on. Some focus would be nice. But the portions are big and the food is generally tasty. The mains are weirdly pricey compared to the rest of the menu, and the appetizers are small (why so few chips for our dip duo, Rumba?). Luckily Rumba has its drinks down pat, you can't beat their frothy margarita or their $4 beers. The locale is nice, with a lovely view onto the water, but the crowd is... eclectic. Beware inappropriately dressed women of a certain age and surly drunks who have been hanging out at the bar all day long. read more

Went here last Friday for happy hour and will definitely be back. Food and drinks were amazing. The outdoor tables with the view of the water add to the great food. Appetizers were so good we reordered and never go to dinner. Ribs were great ordered a second Tuna excellent we ordered a second. Wings excellent we ordered a second. Chips with guacamole was ok stopped at one Rum punch is very flavorful, good and strong. Would order again. Pro tip - the large rum punch is not 1/2 price for happy hour. Why I have no idea. The regular size one is. Jess the bartender should have said something when I ordered 3 of them. I got a bill for $ 58 dollars along with the drinks and asked what the regular price ? Her response was a casual these are not half price. I asked for the manager and Jessica the manager made it right and was super helpful. Tori our server has a great smile and was great all night. She did an amazing job making sure we had what we needed and kept the food and drinks flowing. We will be back. read more

I'm REALLY glad we came here for lunch. The service was excellent and the food and drinks were perfect. The view doesn't hurt either. Based on previous reviews we had the duck empanadas which were delicious. They came with a sauce that had wasabi in it that my wife liked, but I was impartial to. I thought they were good enough without it. I had the Caribbean run punch while my wife had the margarita. We were extremely happy with our drinks. For lunch we just had all of their different tacos and they were all great. They had Sriracha hot sauce on the side which helped. The server was right with us more then we ever needed. Ambience: A Cleanliness: A Customer Service: A Food: A Price -Its the Hamptons and like most places in the Hamptons it's overpriced. I don't think its as overpriced as some places in the nearby area but do be prepared to spend about $50 per person (or more if you get the more expensive dishes.) Atmosphere -This place feels like you've stepped aboard a Caribbean cruise. Its gorgeous, especially in the summer when you can sit outside and watch the ocean as you eat. Customer Service -Excellent! Everyone at Rumba has always been friendly and accommodating from the person who seats you to the person making your drinks. Food -The ribs...that sums it all up. If you get nothing else just get the ribs. Oh and their drinks are to die for! I'm getting hungry and thirsty just thinking about it! The only thing on the menu I don't like is the sweet potatoes a lot of the entrees come with but you can substitute them from garlic smashed mashed potatoes that are sooooo good. read more

This is my first time back at Rumba in years. The menu and decor hasn't changed. The restaurant has a slight tiki bar feeling, but it is dark. It is dark no matter what time you visit. The food is consistent. It is good, but doesn't go out of its way to be innovative in any way. I had the sliced tuna salad. The tuna was adequate. However, the rest was lettuce with a pittance of mango on the bottom Of the bowl. The two dressings that were given were delicious. Adding noodles, shredded carrots, cucumber, or maybe other Asian ingredients would have largely enhanced this simple dish. My friend had a house salad and added avocado. It ended up being $18. Yes, I know it is the Hamptons, but $18 was rather expensive for the lack of extravagance. our waiter was friendly and efficient. He checked on us numerous times. The hostess was also welcoming and quite friendly. Kudos to the excellent staff! read more

Delicious restaurant with a beautiful view of shinnecock bay. This resturant combines the amazing flavours of the Caribbean with the gorgeous view and atmosphere of the hamptons. Basically everything on the menu is delicious, so whatever you end up ordering will be delicious! My favourite though would have to be the ribs which are tender and amazingly seasoned! In addition despite one thinking that the sundae for desert may be too simple, it is absolutely amazing, gigantic and the perfect way to end the evening. rumba is such an awesome spot in hampton bays! sure its fall, but this place keeps up the summer vibes with their awesome menu! this place is right on the water and has a great dock for photos! theres also outdoor seating - of course - and indoor seating with a super cute bar! the whole place is decorated to feel super tropical and warm! we started with some virgin piña coladas and they were super good! if you like pineapple-y piñas you'll loveeee these! for appetizer we went for the duck empanadas - recommend by our waitress! these were AWESOME! ive never had duck before but this was so good! duck, peppers, and spicy queso? yum! for entrees we all got the island burger and let me tell you im still dreaming about it! the grilled pineapple, the island glaze, the pineapple aoili??? wow. this is definitely a must try! we all got different sides too which were all great - fries, fried plantains, & sweet potatoes with pistachios definitely an awesome spot! and i will totally be back for the summer! read more

I recently dined here while on a date and I had such a wonderful experience. The restaurant is small, but it overlooks the water with some fantastic views of the sunset. Along with the incredible views, you have a choice of many delicious appetizers, entrees, and drinks. We ordered 3 different tacos, Caribbean wings, and Dominican (fall off the bone!) ribs to start. Everything was prepared to perfection. My date and I had a great meal, thanks to Brandon, one of the staff there. He was very friendly, polite, and also gave us many great recommendations that we loved. It was his attention to detail and knowledge of the menu that allowed us to have a lovely time. After that, we were able to take a quick boat ride down to the sister restaurant for some drinks. It was an one-of-a-kind experience that topped off the whole night. A tropical Caribbean style restaurant you could eat at all the time and never get sick of! Rumba has a wide menu selection of items from burgers to tacos to jerk chicken platters. They also have an amazing selection of appetizers including duck empanadas (must try!), Caribbean wings, tropical guac & even artichokes. My favorite burger is their island burger with pineapple aoli and a hearty slice of pineapple. My only tip with the burgers is they tend to under cook them; I like medium rare burgers so I started to order them there at medium well & it's still how I like it! They have a bunch of tacos on their menu, my favorites are pulled rib and the fish taco. They are individual tacos and I recommend getting two or three depending if you got apps or not. Parking gets tight and the waits are usually no less than a half an hour, but definitely wait to eat here. Enjoy their rum punches & outdoor areas! read more

So disappointed. After waiting an hour for a table outside, because the hostess gave away the first table she told us was ready for us-the portions and food were lackluster. This was a pricey restaurant and we were not impressed with their food. We ordered something with scallops and fish & shrimp tacos. We had eaten better tacos before and the scallops were too salty we couldn't even finish it. Anyway, it is the Hamptons so I understand the prices but it wasn't worth the wait.
