Such a staple for Hampton Bays! I visited Rumba over this past summer on a Thursday at around 3 o'clock, just in time for happy hour. The parking here is only valet. Sorry to the valet guy because I had just come from the beach so the seats in my Jeep were all wet. Oops! If you want to join in on happy hour, you can sit at the surfboard, or the bar. The bar was empty when I arrived so I snagged a seat. The ambiance here is great. With the view of the water and the tropical theme going on, it makes it a relaxing, fun place to be. I ordered the rum punch which was delicious and really strong. I'm not normally into sugary drinks but I would order this again. As for food, we ordered the Caribbean wings, and tacos. The wings. were. amazing. I've been craving them but luckily I can get them in Patchogue now! They were the perfect amount of spiciness. The tacos were decent. The fish taco was a little plain to my liking, but the avocado taco is a gem and you most definitely should try it. People started pouring in shortly after I got here and the bar ran out of seating. I would give this place 4.5 stars. Come for the views, stay for the food. The wait can be pretty serious. There is a free boat ride (you can tip but not required) and I once saw an amazing rainbow during a storm. I did not like my food but tried the food of others in my group and they had good experiences. Grab drinks and have them on the deck while you wait. read more

Ventured out here based on some reviews I saw online. I'm a sucker for tacos and margaritas. Made a reservation on yelp and the took us early as the place seemed only half full. The pleasant hostess seated us and had a high chair brought over immediately for my 15 month old. A pleasant server came over and took our drink menu. However, we never saw the pleasant server again, as she was replaced by a server who made it seem like she was doing us a favor. She took my drink order and our food order. The ribs came out first, their were 4 ribs and they were falling off the bone and delicious, my wife said it has a little spice to it but my 15 month old inhaled two ribs by herself. Next up we got the fish, calypso steak and carnitas tacos. The steak was a little bland but the guacamole was great. The carnitas was great, a little crispy and perfect. The fish taco was like a dressed up fish stick in a taco. Nothing special but had decent flavor to it. I wanted to try another margarita but our server never came back to check on us or even refill our water so I just skipped it. All in all the food was decent a little pricey but a great view, we ended up going outside afterwards and sitting by the little pier area and just enjoying the end of summer. I would definitely come back, probably opt to sit at the bar next time and avoid having to deal with a server and try a few more of those margaritas. read more

We've gotten take out multiple times and it is so delicious!! Definitely a must try. Here's a run down of what I have tried so far over my last 4 visits. Note I have never dined inside yet (will wait until warm weather so I can bring my dog). Wings-- if you like wings these are a must. My fiancé gets them each time. Ribs-- literally the best ribs in the world...they fall off the bone. The entree ribs comes with delicious sweet potatoes ... ordered multiple times Fries-- very good Shrimp tacos-- delicious! Big crispy shrimp love them .. ordered twice Fish tacos-- also very good Mahi Mahi-- nice portion of well cooked fish, enjoyed but wouldn't get it again Tuna burger-- enjoyed wouldn't order again Scallops with coconut risotto-- the scallops themselves were good, kinda wished there was 1-2 more. Sad to say I didn't like the coconut risotto, I like coconut but this just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm more of a savory person and I think it was just too much of a desert feeling for my main entree but other reviews really rave about it. Overall, there's dishes I loved some good but wouldn't try again as with all restaurants. That being said, I will certainly be coming again to try the rest of the menu! We stumbled upon here after a day of apple picking at Hanks and wine tasting at duck vineyard. (Valet person at ducks recommended the place). I am happy he did. The food was amazing (we did not have any drinks). We were seated quickly without reservations on a Sunday afternoon. Very friendly attentive staff (all around) , the manager came to check that out meal was okay. We ordered the fish taco (the price is for one) the mahi mahi and tuna burger. All were extremely well seasoned and amazing sauces . There is outdoor seating facing the water. And mandatory valet parking. I actually wasn't expecting much at all and after the horrendous parking situation, I really wasn't in the mood, but they really delivered and the next time I'm out here, I'll definitely be stopping by again! I had the tacos and they were pretty good! Filled with a good amount of meat and fish and the flavor was on point. Just for the tacos alone, i'd come back again. Didn't get to enjoy any drinks as we still had a long way to drive, but this looks like an awesome place for drinks and food. Highly recommend if you're coming with a group of friends, it would definitely be a good time. Service was decent and the restaurant was clean enough. The only thing I could not stand was the parking. It's valet only and the driveway is so small, I don't even want to know what it's like on a busy night. Long Island native at heart and this is the place I take any visitors I come back to LI with. The drinks and food are always extremely well received, especially with happy hour going on from 3-5 and the gorgeous view right outside of the restaurant. We usually do drinks and appetizers before we start making out way over to Cowfish via rumboat (which is also a little neat experience for anyone venturing from WNY). Favorite appetizers include the Crabitizer (crab cake), Dominican Style Ribs (sweet ginger soy glaze), Double Dip (chips w/ guac & cheese dip), and the Seared Ahi Tuna. Drinks that are highly suggested are their rum punch, mojito, and prickly pear margarita. All three are pretty strong, so drink with caution. read more

We sat outside along the rail. Great view to the bay. Comfortable seating. Never mind the parking. Valet is solid. Little tuff in the parking area but they get it done right. You will never ever have a bad meal or experience at Rumba. Every single menu item is fresh, delicious and well prepared. Tacos are insanely good, the coconut risotto is something you would write about. And the sugar can soy salmon is the best piece of fish you will ever have. And then there's the cocktails....oh the cocktails. And don't forget to save room for key lime pie or tres leches! Wait staff is always super friendly and attentive, even on the busiest nights. Rumba is a low key feel good carribean restaurant with tasteful foods. Parking is pretty tight but drive in and let valet handle it. I came unexpectedly with a friend wanting a drink and a snack. We had the carribean sangria punch ( delicious and refreshing) and also guac and fries. The fries were drowned in salt it was quite insane. I then noticed all of the foods at this restaurant are quite overloaded with seasoning and spices. The giac was good ( we added shrimp). *East End Restaurant Week Review: So I've been to Rhum and Cowfish so naturally I had to try out the third and most interesting location of them all. What better way than during the Price Fixed Menu promotion! Located in Hampton Bays, the restaurant is simple to find but traffic will be tough during the warmer months. Leave early to account for the crowds heading to the Hamptons. Make Reservations right on Yelp! Mandatory Free (Tipping Appreciated)... Valet Parking (Even during the Spring) which I'm not usually a fan of, but the workers were friendly. The complimentary shuttle bus & boat from Cowfish to Rumba is a nice incentive during the Summer. The Prices are great for the East End. You won't break the bank coming here. Drinks were fairly priced and strong...I got my money's worth! The Decor was total perfection! I loved the well executed theme. The Table service was fabulous! My Waitress Erin was attentive and friendly. Drink refills came around often. Ticket times were on the longer side due to the heavy volume of customers. It was extremely crowded and VERY loud while I was here. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable time. The reason I had to deduct 1 star is because of the awkward hostesses & I'm assuming the manager. They were lurking over the dining room during my entire meal. One Hostess would slowly walk around the dining room seeing how far along people were with their meals were while the other would stare at each table and plug info into her iPad. The Manager also came around glaring at different tables. Not once did he come check on my table and ask how the meal was going. I get it...The Restaurant was busy but I didn't like the fact that I was being watched over and I almost felt rushed because of it. It was super uncomfortable. They were trying to fill my table before I even got my Entree. I ordered the Restaurant Week Price Fixed Cocktail Pairing which I suggest. For $20 I got 3 exquisite drinks. They were nice and strong. Great deal! My favorite was the Prickly Pear Margarita. The sizes aren't the normal serving but I thought it was just the right amount without being too much. The Food was down right delicious! Rhum & Rumba have very similar if not identical Menu's. I had an array of dishes which I'll be reviewing: Nothing complimentary, no Chips/Bread... same as both Cowfish & Rhum. -Fried Calamari App (Restaurant Week Item): Thought the calamari were tender. The breading had a great taste and the Mango Sriracha was enjoyable. I liked how well the pickled shallots went with the squid. Unfortunately the squid was a little more "fishy" than I usually prefer. The portion was tiny, only enough for one. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Dominican Ribs App (Restaurant Week Item): Came with 2 Small Ribs. Enough for a tasting. -Duck Empanadas (Regular Menu Item): Portion of 4, great for sharing between 1-4 people. Same as Rhum! Love them. The duck inside had so much flavor and the melty cheese omg! They were fried oh so perfectly and the dipping sauce was phenomenal. 5 out of 5 stars -Organic Mixed Greens Salad (Restaurant Week +$6 Add On Item): Fresh Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Sweet Sugared Pecans, Crumbled Blue Cheese , all tossed in a delightful Vinaigrette. I was so happy with this salad. 5 out of 5 stars -Barbados Creamy Garlic Caesar Salad (Restaurant Week + $6 Add On Item): Again Fresh Greens plus Cheese tossed in a flavorful garlicky dressing and let's not forget about those croutons! 5 out of 5 stars -Dominican Ribs Dinner (Restaurant Week Item): Nice Sized Portion of Ribs & savory Sweet Potato Chunks. The ribs had a little spice to the marinade which I greatly enjoyed and were also fall right off the bone tender! The sweet potatoes were both sweet and satisfying. I would definitely order this again! 5 out of 5 stars -Taco Trio (Restaurant Week Item): Pork, Chicken & Fish-no substitutions allowed. Also came with 1 side (chose the Garlic Mashed and they were out of sight). All 3 tacos had their own distinct taste. I enjoyed them all. My favorite would have to be the Fish Taco! 5 out of 5 stars -Key Lime Pie (Restaurant Week Item): I loved this at Rhum and continued loving it here at Rumba! Half portion compared to regular menu. 5 out of 5 stars -Hot Fudge Sundae (Restaurant Week Item): Small portion but hit the spot. Comes with sugared pecans. 5 out of 5 stars So overall I'm happy I tried Rumba in Hampton Bays. The Restaurant Week Menu was a great opportunity to come and try a variety without spending a ton. The drinks were strong, the food was delectable. My waitress and the rest of the servers did an excellent job. Unfortunately the hostess/manager situation was awkward and the only uncomfortable part of my dinner. I would love to come back to try this place during the summer! read more

One of the waitstaff used my debit card info! I only knew because I NEVER use my bank debit card ANYWHERE. Sadly, a friend was going in for cancer surgery at Sloan Kettering the next day. So I took her and her boyfriend out for dinner and used the card (the one and only time). The next day a $400 charge appeared on my bank account for shoes.
