I was really impressed when I walked into Rum Sugar Lime. The decor is gorgeous. It's feels homey, elegant, and island inspired all at the same time. Our bartender, Chase, was very friendly. He explained the menu and gave us suggestions on what to order. I ended up ordering the Saturn and my friend got the Día Sueño. The Saturn was a bit sweet for my taste but it was nice and easy to drink once the ice melted a bit. I would recommend ordering it on a hot summer day. My friend's drink, the Día Sueño, was incredible. The tamarind infused mezcal was to die for. The flavors were perfectly balanced and it was just delicious. The only reason I give this 4 stars is because, though the drinks are delicious, my friend and I didn't feel buzzed at all after drinking them. I usually only get one drink when I'm out because I am sensitive to alcohol. They seemed really light on the alcohol which was a little disappointing after spending $14 (with tax) per drink. Next time, I'll try ordering a different drink and see if that changes things. read more

So we always go to Pizzava for late night snacks. I always see this place next to it and so when the kids were off skating, my wife and I decided to come here and have a cocktail. It's more trendy than we usually head to, with a bit younger crowd, however we enjoyed the ambiance and the younger crowd was not too intimidating LOL. I told the bartender I wanted a Cadillac margarita. To my dismay, they did not have Grand Marnier or Cointreau. The bartender assured me that he could make me a good margarita. We checked out RSL for the first time this weekend while we were waiting for a dinner reservation nearby. The restaurant is adorable, all of the fixtures, tile, bar backing, even the aprons at the bartenders wear are so trendy and fun! On a Friday at about 6:15 the place was pretty much packed to their Covid capacity. Service was not fast, but not slow either - because you can't order from the bar you need to wait at your table until the server comes to you. Sign of the times... Honey had Haunch's Speyside Sling, he loved it, and I loved the nugget ice! I have a Dia Sueño which has mezcal - my favorite! The cocktail menu was fun and you can tell that it changes fairly frequently, these cocktails truly are more than a drink, they are so creative and presented beautifully. Drinks bomb! Atmosphere legit! Aesthetic on point! In town for a quick weekend trip and damn I'm so happy I stumbled upon this place. First time I've actually been back to Reno in years. Tiki drinks but on a more upscale level. The bartenders are top notch, ain't drinks watered down or tasting the same. Each one has a unique twist to it. They also have a really cute postcard station where you can write your pal a postcard and they put postage on it and send it for you. THE BEST super cute trendy cocktail bar in town! We went here with friends right after getting engaged on a sunset hike in Lake Tahoe and omg it was the PERFECT night cap. I cannot speak highly enough of this bar. They have a drink menu that changes periodically that is super unique and expansive--everyone is sure to find something they love. They kept the patio doors open (this was a few months ago) making me feel a little safer with COVID concerns. The bar is really attractive it had cool lamps, a large and well organized drink display behind the counter, and interesting nuances like wood bar door ladders to grab drinks from higher shelves, star patterns on their tiles, large plants, and fans that looked like propellers. My favorite bar in Reno! This place has it all - great drinks, great atmosphere, and great people! All of my experiences at RSL have been phenomenal! Not to mention the restroom is always clean and usable (very important). The staff have always been very kind. I love the feel of the place - perfect for having a casual drinks with friends to catch up or to have a more intimate conversation. I have enjoyed every single drink that I've tried so far (about half the menu). My absolute favorite has to be the honeypot, though. No doubt it is strong (like all drinks at RSL), but it has this perfect sweetness to it that transports me to paradise. In fact, thinking about it now makes me want to grab my friends tonight for some drinks. First things first, open on Sunday! My hubby works Sundays but we are trying to have short dates after he gets off because it's what we like to do. This was not our original destination, but the first two bars in midtown I wanted to take him to were closed. We passed RSL on our drive and saw an inviting heater outside and what looked like a roll up garage door which is our favorite. He said do you want to try that place? I quickly pulled up Yelp and saw the rating and said yes. He flipped around ASAP and we happened to find a spot to park on the street just a few steps away. I can see Midtown parking just getting worse to find as businesses open up and the weather gets nicer, the area has come a long way. However, parking a bit away would still be worth it in order to come to Rum Sugar Lime. As my husband and I entered we were greeted by the bartender who checked our IDs. She said she would meet us with the menu wherever we sat. My hubby tried to choose two seats right up front prior to even passing by the bar. I quickly vetoed that and had him follow me to the end of the bar so we could look back at the whole little place. I was so happy we chose here. It was beautiful inside. I mean just gorgeous. Personally I LOVE exposed brick and pipes. And there were little touches of copper pineapples. Southern glam is what it makes me think of which is also my favorite. However looking through previous photos I guess it's supposed to be tropical lol which I guess I can see a bit with the menu that was presented to us as we sat and some pretty foliage around. It definitely didn't make me feel like I was at a beach hut bar and I'm glad for that. It also didn't feel like we were in Reno. The alcohol itself I mean, just look at the photos because my description of the presentation isn't going to do it justice. There was only one other couple than us and a table of 4 who left shortly after we got there. I didn't get the bartender's name but she was very friendly and helped me in deciding on a drink, French 75. My husband doesn't drink and she said she could make him a mocktail and gave a disclaimer that it might be fruity. I appreciated the explanation of our drinks beforehand. A few minutes later we had the drinks in front of us, his was prettier than mine, so I tried it as well. She advises she added some ginger to offset the fruitiness and to let her know if it was too much. It was actually really good. For me I could have done only slightly less ginger but hubby loved it and sucked it down. My drink was also good, I've never had a French 75 which she described kind of like a lemon drop (which is what I told her I wanted) but with champagne. It was smooth and refreshing. The reason for 4 vs 5 stars was because of my personal taste in drinks. I can easily see this place being 5 stars, but just for myself I drink vodka based drinks and they only had two vodkas (one being the chosen Tahoe Blue For my drink) and no flavored vodkas. Obviously the name of the bar may have been a dead giveaway on what their specialty cocktails would be, but I guess it didn't occur to me and I'm glad because if I thought they only served rum and tequila, some gin - I may not have made it in. I may have to venture outside my liquor box to try a different type of alcohol (I mean I'm grown now and those all sound like more adult drinks but I'm so picky I don't want to waste a drink if I don't like it!) so I can come back here, but if I'm not ready to do that the French 75 will work just fine. PS it was so very clean!! And pineapples mean hospitality in the south. And also, did I mention this place is beautiful?! read more

RSL is a cool new addition to Reno. As a recent graduate of UNR, I find it hard to pick a bar that I fit in. The usual bars downtown are becoming a little bit "too young" for my tastes, but bars in south Reno are a bit "too old". I found that RSL was the perfect fit for atmosphere. I didn't see the usual college students, yet the vibe was still poppin! The bar has a really cute tiki theme with nice decor. The layout is very open with plenty of room to both sit and stand. The bathrooms were very clean and had large mirrors, which is a plus when wanting to take some pictures! Drinks were pretty expensive, which was the only bummer. But that's the price you pay when you move from young college to a more mature crowd. Plus the drinks were quality, making them more worth their price tag. When it comes down to it though, getting more than one, maybe two, drinks isn't feasible when they are $14. Overall, pretty fun experience! read more
