This place was RAD!! Inside the Godfrey Hotel and love the ambiance plus the food was amazing. I'm a big fan of Nikkei food (Japanese Peruvian fusion) and they know how to do it right!!

Such a fun date spot! The drinks were fresh, the food was phenomenal, and the staff took great care of us. The vibe inside is spot-on, making it a great setting for a good convo. Loved our dinner here!

Food was really good here! Excellent and fresh tasting sushi. Nice Mongolian beef as well. There was a wait for tables that was pretty long so we sat at the bar. Service was decent and the cocktails were good!

I love this place! The food is always amazing and the service is just as good! I forgot to take pictures of rolls but that along with the raw salmon were my favorite bites. Highly recommend!

Very cool vibe, though it gets loud and crowded fast, so I would get a reservation if you have more than 2 for sure. I had the tuna tataki and the anticuchos (steak skewers) to eat. Both were delicious, the steak might be a must-get! Both dishes were spicier than normal Japanese, but I think well within the tolerance of most Americans. If you're particularly sensitive to spice, I would ask. I had the classic pisco sour and the Kajo Park, which was a Manhattan vibe. Both were well executed, the Kajo Park was a nice creative riff on a classic. Coje restaurants are always solid, and this is no exception!

The food was amazing. We got the Yuzu cucumbers, Salmon Fritas and the Pork Yakisoba and all of them were phenomenal. Definitely recommend it if you are travelling to Boston.

Personally I love the interior design very much. It's a mix of eastern with western cultural elements. Coming here for a drink with some appetizers is very satisfying. The pop chicken with chilly oil sauce was tasty; the small bites and sushi went well with the special cocktails!

We dined at RUKA when we first checked into our hotel in Boston. It was adjacent to our hotel so it was super convenient as we were tired and hungry after a long flight. This place is popping! Even though it was later in the evening, the restaurant was still really full. However we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. I loved the decor in here, such neat details and even a column with a dragon on it! So cool. It's a dark restaurant so it was hard to read the menu, but otherwise, it's a very cool vibe here and feels very lounge-y. Our server was awesome, he was friendly and explained the restaurant style to us - it's like tapas, you order a few items to share and recommended 2 - 3 items per person would be sufficient. It was only 2 of us and we shared 3 items total, and that was more than enough. We apparently arrived so late that our server informed us that we only had a short time before the kitchen was closing for the night. But he said that he would return before the kitchen closed in case we wanted to order additional menu items. We were intrigued by the Japanese/Peruvian fusion menu and tried a few things: Kuromitsu Brussel Sprouts Spicy Salmon Fritas Bo Bo Chicken I was most excited about the Bo Bo Chicken a it had a sichuan chili oil and I love spicy, but it was not spicy at all (to me). But the flavor was really good. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts. I loved the char on them and the ginger black honey on it was so good. I don't eat salmon, but my friend said the Salmon Fritas was great and really enjoyed them. I would say this was the best meal we had on our trip!

I didn't get pictures of all the foods I had as I was here for a work dinner. We did a family style and ordered a variety on the menu. My favorites were the fried cheese stick as that was very light and fluffy. The yakisoba noodles was very delicious plus the pork belly buns! I recommend stopping by and our server was also great!

First impressions, decor is welcoming and music level comfortable for good conversation. They have a dedicated menu for celiac disease persons and those who chose to be gluten free. The food was excellent and we enjoyed each of our plates. For appetizers we ordered hamachi ceviche and lobster norteña. Main course we ordered yuzu beef & vegetable fried rice from gluten free menu and it was delicious. From regular menu we had the chicken fried rice and pork yakisoba, also delicious. Desserts we had big fish and white black thunder. Highly recommend! We left happy

Had a reservation and was seated promptly. It was a bit busy but service was attentative. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and kind. My sister and I ended up getting a few dishes to share: Japanese fried chicken, halibut, crab yakimeshi, and lobster norteña. The kitchen was able to accomodate and put the sauce and avocado for the norteña on the side (my sister is picky) which I appreciated. The food came out pretty quick and was delicious. The halibut was not my favorite (I wouldn't order it again) though even that was yummy. The japanese fried chicken?! Amazing. I almost didn't order it but am glad we did. The meat itself is packed with flavor, but it's even better with the sauce it's served with (as most things are. The crab yakimeshi was our next favorite item. The rice was phenomenal. For dessert we got the cachangas which wonderully surpassed our expectations. It was a fun dish that reminded us a bit of pretzel bites (but way more airy and delicious). I thought the price we paid was fair for 3 dishes, dessert, and two drinks. Ambiance was nice. Good for a date, girl's night, special occassion, etc. Would definitely come back! Parking can be found on street if you're lucky or it's around $22 at Lafayette Garage which is right across the street.

My family and I came here for dinner, and the restaurant has a swanky, beautifully designed atmosphere. We ordered the spicy tuna, rock shrimp, Phoenix rolls, and chicken fried rice. The rolls were flavorful and enjoyable, while the chicken fried rice was just okay. The service could have been better, but overall the food was delicious. It's a great spot for a date night. We were staying at the Godfrey hotel (which is connected to the restaurant), there were no available reservations online. I went downstairs and was able to make a reservation for 40 minutes later. If you don't have reservations and are nearby, stop by and make one - they may be able to get you in on the same day.

Tried Ruka for the first time and was pleasantly surprised -- the food was so good! I can see why it's such a popular spot for birthday celebrations, the atmosphere feels special without being stuffy. Love the Tea service! Highly recommend ending the night with the big fish dessert -- it's such a fun and tasty way to cap off the meal.

Do I need to make a reservation in advance for evenings or weekends?

Yes, definitely highly recommend. During the week I'd say no.

What is the tea service at Ruka?

It's a cocktail for two served cold in a teapot with two shot glasses. They bring out a smoking dragon (dry ice in a dragon pot) to add whimsy. It's delicious and cute.

Unfortunately, I was having a pretty bad day before heading over, so my attitude was not what it should have been. To my surprise, the hostess didn't retaliate or display any bad attitude toward me, which in turn motivated me to be kinder :) It definitely costs nothing to be kind, and I was definitely grateful that she provided such impeccable service! That sealed the deal for Sakabayashi. I have to admit, though: we both got a little sticker shock when we opened the menu. The menu was extensive and everything sounded good, but it took us a while to figure out what we actually wanted to spend. At one point I told my friend, "If you want to leave, it's okay. I won't mind. We can just go." He said, "I'm fine if you're fine." I said, "I'm fine if you're fine." And then we basically just stared at each other and continued struggling with the menu. Eventually, we accepted that dinner was going to be more than $30 and shared the chicken karaage ($10), then each ordered the chef's pick nigiri ($30). The karaage was solid: crispy, yummy, nicely presented, and good with the mayo dipping sauce. But the nigiri made my eyes POP. MAN OH MAN was it FRESH. It was so good. That was basically all I could think about while eating it. I've eaten a lot of sushi in my life, although I still have the palate of a college student...and sometimes the wallet, too. I've definitely had sushi where I've thought, "This tastes like nothing," or "Why isn't the rice seasoned?" or, worse, "This doesn't taste right...I don't think this is very fresh." This was the opposite. The fish actually had flavor. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the rice and fish worked together the way good nigiri should. I wish I had slowed down and appreciated each piece more instead of inhaling it. I will absolutely be coming back. Now I know where to go when I'm craving genuinely good-quality sushi and am willing to spend a little more for it. The restaurant itself is classy, bright, neat, and polished without feeling stuffy. It would be a great place to catch up with a friend or for a date night. Although for a date, maybe don't feel bad about splitting the bill. It's the modern era anyway.

There are meals you remember because they taste good, and then there are experiences that change…read morethe way you think about food. Three 1 One Omakase was one of those experiences. It introduced me to new textures, flavors, aromas, and, most importantly, a deeper appreciation for the culture behind the food. From the moment we arrived, Chef Wei, his wife Carrie, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere felt intimate, as though we had been invited into someone's home rather than a restaurant. Every detail felt intentional, from the minimalist design and calming ambiance to the subtle aromas throughout the space. Learning that Three 1 One was originally a one-bedroom apartment made the experience even more meaningful. The evening reminded me of a trip to Phu Quoc, Vietnam, where local islanders welcomed my fiancé and eight friends into their home to share a meal prepared from that day's catch. Coincidentally, there were ten guests gathered around the counter at Three 1 One, just as there had been ten of us in Vietnam. In both places, strangers came together over exceptional food and genuine hospitality. That feeling stayed with me throughout the evening. My fiancé and I celebrated our 11th anniversary here as we began exploring Michelin-starred restaurants together. After traveling throughout North and South Vietnam, where his family is from, we returned with a renewed appreciation for food and the stories it tells. We were excited to discover such a thoughtful Michelin-starred restaurant so close to home. The 19-course omakase felt like a journey. The opening truffle sea bream with mizuna and sudachi sauce awakened the palate with bright citrus and earthy richness. The Kegani Hokkaido hairy crab with dashi jelly and tomato dashi mousse became my fiancé's favorite. Once mixed together, it was creamy, savory, delicate, and refreshing. His reaction said it all: "Wow." The tako (octopus) with house-made sweet soy sauce highlighted the natural flavor of the seafood beautifully, while the Tokobushi somen with abalone, wheat noodles, yam, okra, and cold dashi became one of my favorite courses. It was refined yet bold, layered with umami, and unexpectedly reminded me of the haenyeo women of Jeju Island, whose tradition of free-diving for seafood gave me an even greater appreciation for the ingredients. Another standout was the Amadai Uroko Yaki (crispy-scale tilefish). The contrast between the crisp scales and tender fish created a texture I'd never experienced before. Along with the abalone course, it was one of the highlights of the evening. The Aji horse mackerel with ginger, chives, sesame, and nori provided a refreshing transition before the sushi. The sushi alone deserves its own review. Every piece reflected remarkable craftsmanship and precision. Watching Chef Wei prepare each bite was part of the experience itself. The rice was beautifully seasoned, and every ingredient felt balanced. My favorite piece was the uni (sea urchin). It was incredibly smooth, rich, and almost buttery. My second favorite was the Hokkaido hotate (scallop), with its delicate smokiness, sweetness, and juicy texture that left me wanting another bite immediately. We also tried selections from the additional menu, along with a pear-toned sake that paired beautifully with the meal. More than anything, what stayed with me wasn't just the food, but the feeling of the evening. It was an experience built around craftsmanship, hospitality, culture, and sharing a meal with others. Thank you to Chef Wei, Carrie, and the entire team for making our 11th anniversary unforgettable and for giving us such a memorable first Michelin-star dining experience. We look forward to returning.

We arrived a bit later than we expected, past 7:30pm as we spent too much time on parking (the lot adjacent to this restaurant is tiny and the rest of street parking is reserved for residents). Still, the restaurant advertises everywhere, including on yelp and its doors (!), that they close at 10pm so we intended to enjoy our meal and a lively conversation with our party. Our server was courteous for the first part of the meal, however, slightly before 9pm he began doing everything he could to kick us out, collecting unfinished dishes aggressively, pushing the bill in front of our noses and coming 5 seconds later with a machine so we pay and leave. The cherry on the top was when that server had the audacity to demand a higher tip (I was about to tip way more than that service deserved, but he said "the minimum amount has to be higher"). With so much great choices in the Boston area, I really don't see a reason to come back to this one...
