I went in for a battery for my key fob and they jumped right into action! I have to say it was an adventure because it seemed like no one really knew how to change it. All I wanted was to buy the batteries and leave because I've changed them before but they insisted. First time they installed them backwards so I walked out to the car and walked back in. Then a second guy got involved and he said he's pretty sure there's a piece of paper that went between the batteries since they stack but that made ZERO sense to me! Anyway, they finally got it all back together and we went out and checked and sure enough the fob was good. Now don't take this all the wrong way because they were ALL super friendly and were all really trying to help! I wasn't mad or anything, they were all fun to watch and I enjoyed my visit! Plus the batteries were priced really good AND they installed them after all, that along with the show made it a good time. In addition they had the puffed nuggets with caramel that I used to get at Rock Springs and that made for a perfect day! I give them 5 stars for this visit, I only wish I would have been able to video them all working on my fob! lol. read more

What a refreshing experience with knowledgeable and helpful associates Great hardware selection, assistance finding parts and the price/value every bit as good as big box. No lines, helpful and (even) the cashier had product knowledge. Every associate let me know non-verbally, they appreciated my business. Happily honored warranty on craftsman tools that Lowe's wouldn't even look at. I'll drive by Lowe's and HD to do my hardware purchases at Ruggiero's. Went online before going into store on 10/21/2024. Googled "Does Ace Hardware do Price Matching?" It said "Yes we do, with a few exceptions like online shopping, etc". So Lowe's was selling the Omni Compost for a regular price of $4.48. Ace had it for $5.99. I printed both online screens and off to Ace I went. When I asked about the price matching I got a a very LOUD "NO, we don't do that anymore". I thought, well at least I gave it a try. Then this other, older woman walked towards the cash register and shouted that they don't do price matching. WOW! I felt like I was getting scorned for asking the question. Most of the people that work there are extremely nice. Not this lady. Figured she was having a bad day but still, I think I will go elsewhere. I am afraid to ask anymore questions. read more

Best hardware store experience ever. I hate going to Home Depot. It makes my teeth itch. Lowe's stocks only two items at a time so I don't go. For this purchase I had to go to Ace anyway. Greg was my guy. My son and I were checking out a Big Green Egg and Greg was on point. I was ready to buy but decided to sleep on it. The next day my wife went with me and I pulled the trigger. By noon Greg had my BGE at my home assembled and ready to go. Try getting that from the box stores. I love their level of service, attention to detail and the military discount didn't hurt. Greg hooked us up with reward points for our purchase so we can buy more stuff later. Lol. Love this place and I will definitely be back. read more

Started a backyard project last weekend and I ended up going to the two big stores HD & L first. I found it hard to get help, then would get home to find I was sold something that was not working. I'm not a pro so it was probably part me. When I got to repairing the 1/2 inch drip line, after buying parts from both big stores, having to search for someone to help me and getting a little attitude, I remembered Ace. The employees were willing to help, were courteous and sold me the parts that easily worked. I couldn't believe how easy it was with the right parts. I have been going to Ace for many years but today made me think differently. I went into purchase paint and the employee at the cashier did ask for assinstance to the paint area but no one arrived after a long period of time. I went to the back area to ask for assistance again and still no one arrived after a long period of time. I am a pretty patient person but I ended up walking out. The place was not busy enough, they could of been making my paint while helping others and also noticed that they would help newer customers as they would come in. All I can say is that I am very disappointed and probably will think twice before going back. read more

This review is in regards to ordering window screens. I like this store but have had 2 disappointments ordering screens. Each time the order was "lost". Took 6 weeks to resolve the first order. My current order is 4 weeks old and found out today the order never went through. Now saying 2-3 more weeks. I can recommend this store for all of your hardware and BBQ needs, but go elsewhere if you need screens made. read more

I purchased an outdoor rocking chair from Ruggiero's Ace Hardware. When it was delivered, it was not a rocking chair. They should have checked to make sure it was the correct item. I called them, and they said they would call me back. They didn't. I called to see when they would bring the correct chair, and they gave me a day. When that day came, I didn't know when they were going to deliver it, so I called again. I really believe, they forgot about it. It's a good thing I called. They finally delivered the chair. It's an ok chair, except the cushion looks like it was washed.They were apologetic about the whole ordeal, but the communication was subpar. I won't be dealing with this store again. read more

May be slightly more expensive than the big box stores but when you're only talking a few items, not a big deal. This Ace is great. Not sure where all the negative reviews come from but that has not been my experience. In addition to random hardware store items which this location has well covered, they are a dealer for Weber, Big Green Egg, and my favorite Traeger. During the spring and summer they usually have demonstrations so you can check out their super supply of grills and tasty BBQ. I have bought two Traeger's here now and love them both. Ace assembled them and delivered them to my backyard promptly (and for FREE). If you are looking at a new grill talk to Greg, he is very knowledgable and professional. I also go here for all my sauces, rubs, and pellets, they have a wide variety. Did have an issue once with a key copy but they fixed it at no cost. My wife has purchased several terracotta pots which look great in the backyard. read more

This Ace Hardware store has the most unfriendly service at the register specially the older gal that works there, she is unfriendly, grouchy, not helpful, and doesn't seem to like her job and now none of the cash register employees are wearing masks. My husband and I have been in this store numerous times. We like to support local business. However, the great customer service you experience with employees on the floor is always ruined by the older woman who works as a cashier whose initials are CLW (per the receipt). She is always so rude and unpleasant. Today we had a question about using a reward through the app and her response- in the crabbiest voice and without even looking up from scanning items says- 'I have no idea.' Which, this is either 1) a lie, or 2) you need immediate retraining on an app that your store and company encourages customers to use. Her attitude and demeanor with customers is unacceptable and a real turn off. I'm happy to take my business over to Home Depot if ringing up customers is so unpleasant for you. read more

We walked in to three maskless employees playing catch with what I'm assuming was a softball because of its size and color. One had on shorts that were smaller than my old swim team uniform! They didn't have the screws we were looking for so we left. As we were walking out mr. tiny shorts asked if we had found what we were looking for. We told him, "no". To which he said, "Awesome! Have a great day!" I feel like the employees were all high or overwhelmingly entitled teens who have never worked before. Truly disappointed in the experience. The store itself is well stocked and clean and your floor team is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. However, when checking out there is one cashier who is consistently unpleasant-that's if you're unlucky enough to get her to help. Never a smile, never a 'here you go' and don't dare hope for a thank you or wishes for a good day. She's even rude to other staff members. I would first like to say that I have been going to Ace hardware for a LONG time now and never in my life have I been so disappointed. I went to ace hardware because I needed some paint samples. The man there didn't look very happy. He didn't smile and he gave attitude the ENTIRE time. I was in shock. Once he was done staring off into space, he asked me what I needed. I gave him my colors and he slowly went to put them in the computer. He took his sweet time as I stood there patiently. After I got home, I went to my room and started to put the paint samples on. The blue was the completely WRONG color. I WAS SO upset. The color I wanted was a blue grey color. The color I got was teal. I paid $7 for a piece of crap. How dare they treat one of their nicest customers like that! read more

You know why I like Ace Hardware? Because when I go in looking for: -Machine Screws Pan Phillips 4-40 x 1/4....not only do they know what they are, they have them in stock! More than 3! (Lowe's sucks) Because when I go in looking for: --Small plastic parts boxes with dividers....they know what they are and I can buy one without also buying a freaking toolbox that it is inside! I was in here with a friend getting a spare key made. Mark an employee in training started off helping us and then had to call for help. Jessie was who came she was awfully rude to us acting like we were dumb. She was EXTREMELY rude to Mark the employee IN TRAINING. She was snappy with him and demanding. He was very kind to me and my friend but Jessie on the other hand was not kind and should NOT be training employees with an attitude like that. IDK, I've lived across from this Ace for nearly a decade. I have tried repeatedly (20+ times) to like it because its convenient, but the customer service here is beyond awful. The people in the various depts are ok, but the cashiers always seem so miserable- like they hate their lives and their jobs. Everything seems to be an inconvenience to them. "Let me give you my phone number for rewards "- look of disgust. "May I use my coupon?" - look of disgust. Everything seems to be a bother. The manager who was ringing us up considered it his duty to share with us all of his terrible opinions and beliefs about Portland. This was all regurgitated rhetoric off of some conservative news source. It's not your place to give us an earful about the town we're from and a place which you have very little experience or knowledge of. He then took it upon his self to make sure we knew we "had moved to a very conservative place." What does any of this have to do with selling us hardware. I emailed the corporate in store experience contact and the owner. Ace corporate sent an automated response. No reply from the owner. They didn't give a f*%k! Totally inappropriate. Never goin back. This has been my Ace location of choice for the past 5 years...I am deeply saddened that I will not shop this location again. I placed an online order more than a week ago, for items in stock and to be picked up the next day. I received an update that 2 of the items would have to ship from the warehouse...fine, I'll pick up the rest of my order when it's ready & get the 2 items later. I NEVER received an update from the store so I called in to find the status myself. The manager took my name down and told me he would give me a call when the other items were ready. Again I had to call back now two after my initial call, only to be told no one pulled my items when they were in stock and now I would have to wait for the store to order more than have of my items from the warehouse...with an unknown arrival date?!?! The manager "graciously" cancelled my order, let's see how long it will take for my refund to happen?!?! read more
