Country Breakfast

A really lovely setting in Brooklyn for brunch. I met a friend for lunch on a Tuesday about 2:30pm, an hour before closing. The waiter was very friendly and let us sit at the corner restaurant by the windows. We both had the escarole salad with tuna. Delicious! I ordered a mocktal which showed up lte so he comped it. A very nice gesture! Great place for brunch/lunch.

Few can deny the charm of these sections of Cobble Hill and Clinton Hill in the late evening, when the canopied streets get dark and are lit by the occasional candelit corner restaurant. Rucola is one such moody establishment, and even if we had some qualms about the food, the vibes are undeniably pristine. We shared the sweet potato salad and the pesto garganelli. My favorite bite was the breaded goat cheese in the sweet potato salad, which I distributed over the greens to lend a bit of decadence. The pasta didn't leave any strong impressions - perhaps only a bit of enjoyable crunch from the asparagus.

What a fun spot to grab drinks and dinner! We came here to celebrate with some friends through a recommendation and it did not disappoint! This place has such a cool ambiance. The drinks were on point and service was outstanding. My only regret is that I don't live locally, because it would be my Friday night go to. Thanks for a great evening!

The vibes in this restaurant is truly immaculate!! I would highly recommend this spot for a cozy dinner vibe, especially if you want to lean in real close to your date (hehe) not only are the vibes 10/10, the but the food is sooooo scrumptious. Definitely a favorite local spot in this area

Pretty good restaurant in Boerum Hill. Would allow yourself some time to get seated as the restaurant doesn't get take reservations. Maybe have another local bar lined up to wait at. Food was great. Ambiance could be a little better - tight quarters, kind of loud. Staff was nice and helpful on the menu. We ordered the following: Squash and trumpet mushrooms Brussels sprouts Potato croquets with caviar - very very good Duck breast - very thin slices but good Rigatoni bolognese - average/below average. No depth in flavor Butter sage casarecce - pretty good Apple pie - very good Biscotti with chocolate chips - dry but good with the cappuccino Tequila cocktails - excellent Negroni was good Ordered a Barolo if I recall that was very good Great spot and would come back if there wasn't a huge wait

Whole Roasted Brook Trout

This is a small local restaurant with lots of charm. Great wine and cheese selection. I had the whole roasted brook trout which was phenomenal! I would come back just for that. The only downside is the menu is a little limited and I was kind of disappointed they didn't have any special when we were there. But the food we did share was all very good. I would skip the sunchokes next time.

Burrata, oofa!

If you want to impress a special someone and appreciate small plates of amazing Italian food together, THIS is the SPOT! For starters, every mouth feel you can imagine is present in their burrata with spicy sausage, marinated roasted red pepper, and toasted rustic bread. Follow that with a cacio de pepe made richer by the little fatty bits of guanciale that will swirl around your tongue. Up the ante with their porchetta covered in celery and fennel salad. One of the best pork chops you will ever eat. Close out your evening with an olive oil dark chocolate pudding. It's lighter than you think and beckons to be shared. You're welcome!

Had a lovely ladies night dinner at Rucola recently. Loved the vibe - simple but cute with lots of wood a wrought iron. Definitely a cute spot. We had some wine and shared a chef selection of charcuterie- it was well paired and enough for 3 people. We also had the brisket and the shells and Brussels sprouts. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Very cute spot hidden away from the hustle and bustle. Will go back.

This Italian spot came highly recommended to me from one of their regulars. It did not disappoint! Their menu is small, but absolutely everything is divine! Except their arugula salad- there was nothing special about this. In fact, it could have used cheese or more than 1/2 a radish;) Back to the good stuff- your table is very close to your neighbors table... which makes sneaking peaks at what they ordered so much easier;) We were between 2 pasta dishes and we finalized our answer by seeing what the table next to us ordered! The lighting is incredible- everyone looks so sultry! This is a great 2nd or 3rd date spot! In fact we saw a few "early dates" in the restaurant. Good luck to them! I wished I lived closer because I would definitely make this my neighborhood spot. Thanks to my friend Melanie for introducing me- she's a regular here!

It's not bad but ok. Salad was great, fish was pretty fresh and soft. The pasta was a little on the salty side

A lovely neighborhood spot! My friends and I all live around here and we met up for brunch around 10am. It was quiet, cozy, and charming! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We shared the French toast, salad, and two breakfast plates. The food and coffee were great. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful, Saturday morning brunch :)

Lumache
Georgiana Y.

Cozy, intimate, and yummy food. We happened upon this restaurant while hanging out in the area, and it was a great find! I got lumache, which was pretty hearty with the panko crust and greens topped over it. It took a bit for the food to come out, which was expected since the store was pretty busy when we got there.

Ya never know. This used to be part of the charm, but now it's a liability because friends (and other chefs in the neighborhood) never want to go to Diner because...ya never know what it'll be. Diner has never coasted on continuity. They change up the menu every day. They write it on the paper tablecloth, for Chrissakes. But I still love that! I still find most of the food to be delicious (if pricey), I still think their cocktails are well-made (even if their bar is weirdly slow) and I love their brunch and I love the vibe, and I'm glad it's still here. Cozy interior, but the concept seemed like...trying too hard to be different and hip...? Why do you make your waiters write down the menu on the table for each group of guests? We came because we were in the area and looking for a brunch spot. We saw someone said the steak was good! It was true! My partner said the steak was good! I myself got a quesadilla, which was also good. I thought that the food would be frozen as the menu was so big, but the quesadilla tasted like it was made then and there, maybe with frozen ingredients, but it was definitely put together on the spot to order. The waffle was okay. I wasn't a huge fan; the chocolate chips did not really melt into the waffle, which is something I look for in chocolate chip waffles, but my partner was still able to enjoy it! Despite this, I have to give this spot a 5 because the waitress was just so sweet and definitely brings this place to a 5-star!

The Confit mushroom toast was delicious. Salty, but flavorful. I didn't like poached eggs until I had this starter, because they did it right. The Sunday Pancakes were beautiful! A bit crispy but almost sponge/fluffy soft inside. The hazelnut maple praline was not too sweet. I'd recommend eating it as soon as it arrives at the table. The Sunday burger was great as well. We added avocado & chose sausage. I'm not a sausage gal, but I actually liked this sausage very much. My friend order a bloody, & there has not been a restaurant that I've ever said they make good bloodies, but this bloody was IT! I was impressed! Loved it. Service was great. I got lucky one night when there was no line & my girlfriend and I got a seat. To start off, the ambiance is rock solid, they got the classic old school American/ New York look. Beautiful lights, a sky line art work, comfy leather seats, and you can scribble on the table I love it. Staff & service are also amazing, there very attentive, respectful, friendly and the service is great, they do a great job in both of these aspects. However, their food is lacking. It's a very small menu, we ordered their burger, clams, wedge salad and Sunday. All of the items were fine, I personally didn't like the clams, I felt they were too dry, the burger was good but nothing you can't get anywhere else. The salad and Sunday weren't worth it. However, what was very disappointing, I believe they cook using cheap oils, because after our meal, my girlfriend & I just felt really bad in our stomach. I really wish this place well and hope they last, but the hype is way too high and I think they need to switch the oil and quality of their ingredients.

Lastly, we got a Caribbean omelet. My rice and pernil was solid. The rice could've used a tad bit more seasoning but when mixed with the side of beans and plantains plus a drizzle of hot sauce it was perfect. They had a variety of sauces--Tabasco (my fave), a Jamaican one that was super spicy, and a mild homemade one. The tres/quatro golpes was also a hearty choice with mangu (mashed plantain), sausage, fried cheese, and eggs. The pickled red onion balanced everything out. The fried cheese is similar to a halloumi but I think it's a bit more flavorful. All the flavors just melt together in your mouth perfectly. The French toast and omelet were good. I'd say the Caribbean items stole the show though. The place has a typical diner vibe and is on the small side. Food was served quickly and service was good. Discount if you pay in cash. Apparently there is more than one location in Manhattan. The inside reminded me of a classic diner. Comfy and with a pretty cool vibe. We all slid into a booth and looked over the seasonal offerings along with their standard menu. I was lured by the chicken Kyiv based on the picture of having two rolled up chicken cutlets stuffed with dill and other yumminess, but was a bit disappointment when it arrived with a single small cutlet on my plate with two heaping mounds of potatoes mash and broccoli. I instantly had regret when I should have gotten the borscht soup with pierogies, but wanted to try something I wouldn't usually. I should've stuck to what was safe. My work mom got the stuffed cabbage and that was a clear homerun- really loved the mushroom gravy that it came with. My other colleague got the potato pancake and wasn't too thrilled with it, while my boss got the two Swedish meatballs that he described to be Ikea worthy. Although this was my first time here, I can't say that anyone really loved the food nor would come out of their way to come back. I really was hoping this would have wow-ed me in some way, but I guess I'll stick to what's familiar.

A friend and I each got a soup to start our meal, along with sharing a Potato Pancake. The Matzoh Ball Soup and Potato Pancake were good, but not great. However, I enjoyed the Pork & Cabbage Soup enough to take home a quart. For entree, we shared a Deluxe Meat Plate that was quite delicious. All three pierogi flavors were great, but the short rib was my favorite, followed closely by the mushroom & sauerkraut. I also really enjoyed the grilled kielbasa, but sadly it was served at room temperature. Lastly, the stuffed cabbage is not usually my thing, yet I liked this version. Once again, it was served barely warm. Thankfully, we finished on a high note. My friend really wanted the Challah Bread Pudding, which was moist and tasty. However, the lovely waitress advised us strongly to try the Medovyk. This Ukrainian layered honey cake had a wonderful texture, not too creamy or sweet, with a great walnut flavor. We were extremely happy with her suggestion. We also really liked the diner vibes that felt warm and inviting. This was so close to a five star review. The main reason for the deduction was the temperature of our food being served. Hopefully that problem will be solved on my next visit.
